All throughout life, you’ll encounter people and situations that test you. You try sticking true to who you are, but it seems like the world is against you every time.
Being a follower of Christ comes with a set of beliefs and morals that can make it harder for you to stay true to yourself, especially in the world we live in today. It can be hard to stick to your roots, such as your morals, values, and whatever else you hold dear and true to your heart.
Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
When it seems like the world is going against you, start with prayer. Pray for help, pray for patience, pray for guidance. Prayer allows God to work in situations and allows us to see those prayers unfold before our eyes. When we pray and God answers, it’s one of the coolest things to see our prayers work wonders.
This verse refers to a willing spirit, but a weak body. We might know the difference between right and wrong, but putting that into action is the hard part. We are willing to, but in the end, we are not always able to.
Ephesians 6:13 says, “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand firm.”
When we put on the full armor of God, nothing can stand in our way. This is how God equips us to face whatever battles we may have. Do this every morning so you can conquer what the day ahead holds.
Put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. These will equip you to stand your ground and remember the foundation you’re built on. They’ll help you stand firm in your faith and be able to defend whatever comes your way.
Joshua 23:6 says, “Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left.”
God knows that it can be hard to follow him, especially in the world we live in today. You have to make the effort to be strong, careful, and mindful. Know what the Bible says and, just as importantly, know how you can apply it to your life. It’s one thing to talk the talk, but as Christians, we have to be able to walk the walk, too!
Sticking to your roots can be as simple as changing your mindset. Do these things to be able to stand for what you believe in, not what anyone else wants you to! Be strong and careful to make note of this, and stick to your true identity in Christ!
