In this day and age, styles and trends come and go and only stay for a season or two.  This season, a trend that’s in, hot, and popular is boho chic.  If you don’t know what it is, boho chic is a bohemian, Indy type style that’s hot in Hollywood right now.  Celebrities such as the Kardashians, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been seen wearing this new Chelsea Crockett - Boho Chic Dresstrend.

The boho chic look can be described as usually loose fitting with tie dyed colors, floral patterns, or solids with crocheted lace.  It is most often worn as a dress but some skirts combined with cute shirts can bring on the look, too!

If you’re into this look, you can find related clothing at Urban Outfitters or Free People.  Although these stores are a little more expensive, you can ask for their clothing for your birthday or for other events/holidays for gifts.  You can also find this type of clothing at Forever 21 (of courseWink) for a cheaper price.  I love this style because it’s unique and a fun, new way to dress.  It’s also super comfy!  You guys should totally check it out.  Enjoy!

How to Make Your Eyes Pop

Hi girls!  One of the most attention-catching parts of your face is your beautiful eyes.  From blue to brown to hazel, your eyes can always sparkle if you know the right colors and shades to use.

For the baby blues out there, use navy or grey shades of eyeliner to highlight your eyes.  Those colors allow your eyes to reflect off the eyeliner and show off the blue hue in your eyes.  As far as brown eyes go, try out dark brown or black eyeliner which will bring a fiercer feel to them.  Try to remember to outline the eyes but not to go to thick and dark with black eyeliner.  And of course I couldn’t forget about the green/hazel eyes.  For you, try light brown or green colored eyeliner.  This will bring out the brown or green in your sparkling hazel eyes.Chelsea Crockett - Eyes

To add an even more defined look, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler.  This will give them a little extra lift before adding on your favorite mascara.  Concealer is another product to use slightly below your eyes.  Getting rid of those dark circles will help others focus on your eye color and pop!  Hope this helps!

Along with warm weather and hours of sunshine, summer brings along an endless amount of yummy, seasonal treats!  Although you can eat it year-round, ice cream tastes best when you’re by the pool or at a carnival.  Summer is also a time to show your creative side and try new things.  So why not try whipping up your own batch of ice cream?Chelsea Crockett - Ice Cream

Homemade ice cream is pretty simple to make.  Plus, it provides an activity for you and your friends to do at home!  To make this happen, you’ll need 1 cup of milk, a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 4-6 tablespoons of rock salt, 2 trays of ice cubes, a small amount of butter, and 5 teaspoons of flavored syrup.  If you prefer chocolate ice cream, then add one tablespoon of cocoa powder.  To start off, take a quart-sized plastic bag and pour in the sugar, flavoring, and milk.  Then you’ll need your rock salt and ice, preferably crushed.  Put these into a gallon-sized bag and place your quart-sized bag into this one.  For fifteen to twenty minutes, gently shake and message the bag.  After this, remove the ice cream and enjoy!

Hey insiders!  Every girl wants to know how to get their hair soft, shiny, and most importantly, healthy.  With endless treatments of various shampoos and gels, it gets frustrating trying to find successful ways to treat your hair.  What girls don’t look for are the things you can do at home without expensive products.  Here are a few secrets to getting those healthy locks.Chelsea Crockett - Hair

First, condition your ends each time your hair is damp or wet even if you don’t shampoo it each time you’re in the shower.  This helps with tangles and also keeps your hair moisturized.  I hate when my hair feels dried out, so this tip definitely solves the problem.

Second, let your hair flow every once and a while.  Pulling back your hair on a daily basis creates damage and causes your strands to break.  If you’re the kind of person who relies on up-dos, try pinning your hair up with clips or pins.  Avoiding elastic bands will decrease the breakage in your hair.

Lastly, monitor the amount of heat applied on your hair.  Too much of anything can be bad so avoid straightening or curling your hair every day.  Try putting it into a simple braid or, if you can, leave it natural.

Along with these, there are many more secrets to discover in order to receive healthy, beautiful hair.  I hoped this helped and good luck!

            Hey girls!

In the November issue of Teen Vogue, Demi Lovato talks about how she is stronger than ever and how she couldn’t be happier with the skin she’s in.  This is a perfect example of someone we should look up to, especially in our teen years.  Being comfortable and confident in your own skin is one of the very secrets of finding the person you want to be!

Self-esteem is hard to keep upChelsea Crockett - Confidence at the age we’re at, and going to school doesn’t help.  There’s always someone that has something negative to say about you whether they’re judging your clothes, personality, friends, etc.  Feeling right in your own skin is the first step to ignoring negativity from others.  Don’t be a people pleaser!  You can’t make everyone happy so don’t try so hard.  God made you in His image, so you should be overjoyed with the skin you’re in!

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”  Psalm 139:13-14

How to Style Your Jewelry: Not Too Much or Too Little

Hey girls!

Knowing how to style your jewelry can be hard.  You want to balance it just right without wearing too much or too little.  The amount of jewelry you wear and how much “bling” it has differs from going to school to dressing up for prom!Chelsea Crockett - Cross Necklace

As for a causal day at school, I like to keep it super simple.  For my earrings, I usually just wear studs.  As for a necklace, I would suggest a small one that lays just below your collar bone such as a cross one on the right.  This keeps your jewelry balanced and pretty easy!

If you’re wondering how to style your accessories for more of a formal event such as prom or homecoming, no need to worry!  This isn’t as hard as you think!  Getting a simple, yet attention-catching, pair of dangle earrings will look great with your gorgeous dress!  Finish it off with beautiful necklace that hangs just right with your dress.

One of the things I try to stick with is the same color of my jewelry.  I try to avoid mix-matching such as a silver necklace with a gold bracelet.  Some magazines even say it’s a major don’t in the fashion world!  So, before you leave the house, make sure your jewelry is color coded!

            Hey ladies!

Growing up comes with a lot of hard work, responsibilities, and expectations.  As us girls grow into adulthood and even our teenage years, we’re expected to be “prim and proper.”  Although we’re still young and shouldn’t grow up too fast, there are a few tips on becoming more lady-like but still acting our age.

  • Use Your Manners!  Saying please and thank you is a lessonChelsea Crockett - Lady Article that should be learned from a young age.  As we grow up, we can’t forgot our manners!  Being polite is a rule all girls and ladies should follow.
  • Respect Yourself!  Having respect for yourself is a must.  Don’t think you don’t deserve any respect for yourself, you do!  Dressing, speaking, and acting appropriately is something we should all consider doing.  Don’t degrade yourself for anything or anyone!
  • Present Yourself.  How you present yourself to the world is something we should all work on!  Sitting and walking upright is good, lady-like posture.  Using your manners at the table is also another good habit to take in.

Hey everyone!  I know I’m not the only one that has a pile of clothes that I never seem to wear anymore.  It just sits in my closet and takes up lots of space.  Luckily, people in the past years have come up with different organizations to help use recycled clothes, toys, and even furniture to pass down to others in need.

Chelsea Crockett - Donation BoxWe’ve all heard of Goodwill, but have you ever thought about donating?  Simply cleaning out your closet and taking over a load can do so much.  Even the smallest donation can do something for others without you even knowing it.

Another great cause to donate to is the Salvation Army.  Along with Goodwill, this organization is spread throughout the nation with its mission to provide donations to those in need.  The coolest thing about the Salvation Army is that its message is solely based on the Bible and motivated by the love of God.

If you want to help, start making a “Donations” pile.  Everything you see in your closet that you could live without goes into this pile and soon enough you’ll be helping families across the country!

            Hey insiders!

Peer pressure gets to all of us.  Whether you’re in middle school, high school, or even in your adult years, we’re all tempted in different ways and forms.  It’s not fun or easy, but there are many ways to resist it.Chelsea Crockett - Peer Pressure

  • Stand your ground.  All of us have a set of rules and values for ourselves that we try to follow as much as possible.  If anyone tries to change those values, stand your ground.  Learn how to say no and follow your gut on what’s right.
  • Choose your friends wisely.  It’s easier to avoid peer pressure when you’re surrounded by good people that share the same values as you.  This way you won’t have to worry about them tempting you into doing something you’re not comfortable with.
  • Be confident.  Go into the situation with a mindset of “no one will change who I am or what I believe.”  Once you have a secure mindset, you’ll be a lot stronger and more confident in walking away.
  • Think of the consequences.  Is the situation really worth the consequences?  Think very carefully about what you do before you do it.  Bad decisions can weigh on you and carry a big amount of guilt.

Although there are more ways to resist peer pressure, I find these four the most effective.  Remember, “To be popular isn’t always right and to be right isn’t always popular.”

Hello insiders!  One of the season’s hottest trends that I absolutely love is cutout dresses.  They’re super fashionable and can be found at almost any of my favorite stores.  One of the cool things about them is that you can find different cutout shapes such as a hearts or triangles, whatever you prefer!

Chelsea Crockett - Heart Cutout DressA great online store for cutout dresses is Sabo Skirt.  They have a ton of different designs, patterns, and colors!  My favorite is the “Heart Back Dress” which comes in white, black, blue, and pink!  Even though the dress is only one color, you can add a pop of neon with your shoes or handbag.

Another place to find the best dresses is, of course, Forever 21.  Forever 21 has chic choices of the prettiest dresses at a great price.  All dresses range from only around $20 to $30 which is a great deal for how good the qualities of the dresses are!

Although the selection is a little smaller, Love Culture and Charlotte Russe also carry cute, simple cutout dresses that are just as fashionable.  Just like Forever 21, their prices are just as good and the quality is great as well.

Windsor clothing store also offers cutout dresses with a more formal look.  So if you want to wear a cutout dress for a fall dance, Windsor offers timeless but trendy looks.  You can pair it with ballet flats or heels depending on your event!

Hey darlings!  In my opinion, organization is the key to everything, especially when trying to keep your room clean.  We ALL struggle with this, but with a few tips it’s not as hard as you think to keep your room clean!

  1. Hanging Space.  If you have a large amount of clothes, try buying smaller hangers.  Avoiding big, bulky hangers will provide more space for your actual clothes.  Try dividing your clothes up into categories (sweaters, jackets/coats, shirts, etc…).  This will make it easier to find things and disappear that cluttered closet look.Chelsea Crockett - Organization
  2. Shoes and Purses.  Having a separate spot for your bags and shoes is a smart idea.  This will help you avoid throwing and shoving your things repeatedly in your closet.  We all know it starts to get overwhelming when your stuff piles in the floor of your closet.  Plus, it looks super messyFrown!
  3. Fold Your Clothes.  If you fold certain clothes such as plain T-shirts or hoodies, make sure you avoid piling.  Throwing your clothes into boxes, cubbies, or shelves will result in lots of clutter.  Make sure you keep your things neat and folded!
  4.  Cubbies.  Almost anywhere you can find cubbies or boxes to place your clothing.  Hanging shelves or cubbies are a perfect spot to put shoes or your folded tees for perfect organization.

As far as other accessories go, come up with a creative way to keep your things organized that works for you.  I hope these tips help you stay clean, organized, and clutter-free!

            Hello lovelies!

As you can tell, I love learning about and trying new makeup and skin products.  Not only do I like experimenting with new cosmetics, but hair products, too!  Argan oil and Moroccan oil are both products that are designed to make your hair softer, healthier, and shinier.  So, what’s the difference?  Which one is better?  If you’re looking for an answer, read below!

Argan oil is a gold oil extracted from the Argan tree.  It’s all natural and provides many health benefits.  This type of oil not only helps treat split-ends but other unwanted blemishes such as acne and dry skin.  It contains many fatty acids and high levels of Vitamin E which work to clear up spilt ends.  If you’re interested, click here! Chelsea Crockett - Moroccan Oil

Moroccan oil only barely differs from Argan oil.  The only difference is that Moroccan oil is made with added substances and ingredients such as Aloe.  Because it’s a less pure form of Argan oil, this may play a factor in which you would rather buy.  Although it’s not as pure, Moroccan oil still has many of the great benefits of Argan oil.  You can buy it here:http://tiny.cc/Moroccan_Oil.

So… which one do I prefer?  You can’t go wrong with either of them, but if I had to choose I would pick Argan oil.  Which one do you prefer?  Tell me below!

Along with the perfect dress and pair of shoes, accessories and a trendy set of nails are much needed.  There are some shades, colors, and styles that are timeless and perfect for any prom theme.  Others are popular and trendy this season!  Check out my suggestions below!

First off, the obvious neutrals.  Cream, brown, tan, etc. will always complement your dress well.  Also, you can’t go wrong with simple French tips.  They’re elegant, classy, and a timeless design to go with any gown.

Another popular style that seems to be all around my school at least, and I’m sure yours too, is solid nails with a sparkly ring finger.  Look to your right for an example.  Adding a little shimmer to your fourth finger will bring more attention to your gorgeous jewelry and sparkly dress.

Chelsea Crockett - Ombre NailsWe can’t forget about ombré nails!  Seen recently in New York Fashion Week, ombré is a classy way to show off your creative side.  Whatever color your dress may be, you can coordinate your polish, as well.  There are plenty of tutorials on how you can achieve the perfect set of ombré nails.

If you’ve been up to date with my recent YouTube videos, you can see that I’ve been curling my hair a lot lately.  Not only because I like the look of it, but I’ve also discovered a few new wands that I’m absolutely in LOVE with!  They’re by the brand NuMe and are perfect for any type of hair.  Here are my two favorites:

Number one: the reverse wand!  This is by far my favorite wand to use.  Instead of the typical wand shape that gets thinner towards the bottom, this wand is simply the opposite.  Hints the “reverse” wand:)!  Instead of starting thicker and thinning out, it goes from thin to thick.  Chelsea Crockett - Titan 3This creates looser curls toward the bottom which I love!  Did I mention I’m obsessed?

            Hello darlings!

One of the most annoying things about makeup is having to reapply it continuously throughout the day.  Smeared eyeliner, disappearing blush, and runny mascara are only a few of the daily problems girls struggle with!  Here are a few pointers for long-lasting makeup:Chelsea Crockett- highlighting

  • Instead of blush, try a cheek stain or gel.  Powdered blush can get rubbed off easily especially those with oily skin.  Because stains, gels, and liquids are so highly pigmented, you’ll be sure to have noticeably pink cheeks all day long!
  • Mascara has the easiest, (and most obvious), solution.  Just use waterproof!  That’s all there is to it.  Buy some here:http://tiny.cc/MaybellineMascara
  • For eyeliner, liquids and gels last the longest.  If you’re more of a pencil user, there’s still a solution!  Apply your pencil eyeliner, then put a matching shade of eye shadow on top.  This will help keep the liner right where you left it.
  • Last but not least, foundation seems to be one of the hardest powders to keep locked into place.  The best formulas to use are oil-free.  This way the foundation finds it harder to slide off your skin.

Let me know what you use to keep your makeup on in the comment section below.
