Spa days are the best days, especially when you and your friends can get together and relax for a few hours!  There are so many different DIY recipes that help you create your own spa day, filled with face masks, scrubs, and much more.  Here are a few fall-inspired recipes that you can make to create your own fall spa day!

If you love face masks, here’s a recipeChelsea Crockett - Face Mask Ingredients that’s all natural and perfect for an at-home facial.  For this mask, you’ll need raw honey, canned pumpkin, almond milk, and coconut oil.  Stir together a ½ cup of canned pumpkin, 2 tablespoons of raw honey, 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, and 2 tablespoons of almond milk. Apply a layer to your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.  It’ll leave your skin filled with moisture and nutrients!

As far as a fall-inspired facial scrub, there are so many to choose from!  But since it’s the time of year of pumpkin spice lattes, I wanted to tell you about a pumpkin latte sugar scrub that sounds amazing!  Here’s what you’ll need: 1 ½ cups of brown sugar, ½ cup of sugar, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 tablespoon of ground coffee, and a ½ cup of coconut oil.  Combine all of the ingredients together besides the coconut oil.  Then, add in the oil once all the other ingredients are stirred together!  You can use this scrub to exfoliate and cleanse your pores! 🙂

Getting into a relationship is a much bigger deal than people make it out to be.  It can end in either one of two ways: breaking up or marriage!   When you put it that way and look at the bigger picture, you should make sure you’re certain about someone before you get into a relationship with them.  Here are four things to ask yourself before dating someone!

  • “Am I ready for a relationship?” First and foremost, you need to put yourself first.  Although you might like the idea of him, make sure YOU are ready to make the commitment.  You need to be sure you’re over any past relationships and are ready to date again.
  • “Does he have everything I’m looking for?” We have to set our standards, ladies!  Sometimes it even helps to write down a list of all the things you look for in someone.  Maybe it’s humor, manners, kindness, or honesty.  The list can go on and on.  Then, go from there!
  • “Are there any red flags?” These are SO important to pick out before you get into a relationship with someone.  If there’s an automatic red flag at any point, you should definitely look further into it!  Whatever it may be true or not, don’t make excuses for it unless you ask them about it first.
  • “Are you both on the same page?” Making sure you have the same morals and values is also an extremely important factor to put into play. Although opposites can attract, most times two people with similar mindsets work out a little better!

You may’ve read this title and thought… deodorant hacks?  Does that even make sense?  I’m here to tell you IT DOES, and there are so many different ways to use deodorant other than its original purpose.  Here are a few clever hacks that’ll give your deodorant 10x its purpose!

  • Put some deodorant on the bridge of your nose to prevent your sunglasses from slipping. You know that feeling when the sun’s beating down on your face and the area between your sunglasses and nose starts to sweat? Prevent that by swiping on a little deodorant! It’ll keep your glasses in place and stop you from sweating.
  • Apply deodorant to your mosquito bites to stop the itching. I’ve never tried this remedy until now.  It really does help!  It coats the bite and helps soothe the skin around it.  Try it out for yourself next time you have a pesky bite!
  • This one’s for the ladies! Apply a swipe of deodorant to your bra line. You all know what I’m talking about! It can be so annoying when the area between your skin and bra line starts to sweat when you’re out in the sun or working out.  I promise this trick works!
  • Put a swipe of deodorant on the backs of Chelsea Crockett - Deodorant Hacks our heels to prevent blisters. You can apply a swipe on your heels or on the back of your shoes like the picture on the right!
  • I think we can all agree that razor burns are so annoying and painful. If you get done shaving and razor burns appear, help soothe them with a swipe of deodorant!

We have all had those nights when we feel like we toss and turn all night and wake up feeling like we never actually fell asleep. There is nothing worse than waking up feeling exhausted! I have a feeling I am going to find myself having nights with little sleep during my college career, so I went on a search for ways to recover from a bad night’s sleep or from little sleep. Here are 4 of the best ways to feel more energized and awake after a rough night’s sleep. Just because you slept bad doesn’t mean you have to feel miserable!

  1. Watch out for caffeine: A cup of coffee in the morning is just fine, but try to avoid caffeine in the afternoon. If you drink anything with caffeine in it within 4 hours of bed time it can mess up your sleep.
  2. Drink plenty of H2O: Bad sleep leads to dehydration because you are up longer and are using up your body’s natural reserves. Being dehydrated can lead to you feeling even MORE tired, so keep water handy and drink up.
  3. Get some Vitamin D and take a walk: Getting 15 minutes of sunlight in the a.m. helps reset your body clock and increases your body’s levels of serotonin, which increases your mood and energy! Also, getting a quick walk in will help you reduce your fatigue and wake your body up.
  4. Take a cold shower: This doesn’t sound appealing to me at all! But, cold showers can give you a jolt of energy because the splash of cold increases your breathing and oxygen intake, which increases your heart rate and blood flow, which energizes you!

I know these tips will come in handy the next 4 years of college.

First dates are definitely not my favorite. They are nerve wracking! Plus, it is hard to tell if the person sitting across from you on a first date is going to be the person of your dreams, or just a short relationship that will last two weeks. But one thing you can tell is if you actually like the person to begin with. Here are some warning signs that a date is going badly, and that the person across from you so isn’t the one.

  1. Something is just “off”: You can tell within a few hours if you are really “feeling” the other person. If you have a feeling in your gut that it just isn’t working, then trust that feeling.
  2. There is a bad first impression: If you notice them exhibiting characteristics that you know you don’t vibe with (from past experience), then don’t forget those lessons you learned. If you know you don’t like a certain “type” of guy, then don’t make the same mistake twice. Best to cut it off as early as possible to spare feelings.
  3. They put you down: When you are talking, do they listen and make you feel like they are interested? Thumbs up! Do they make you feel like your hobbies and interests are lame? Thumbs down. No one needs to be made to feel like they are less than important on a first date. Even if you have had a crush on this person for a while and then finally go out on a date with them, when you see their true colors it can be disappointing. But don’t make excuses for them. Cut them loose.
  4. They don’t respect your boundaries: If they make jokes about your morals, that is a huge red flag. If they try to question or compromise them, that is an even BIGGER red flag. People that don’t have respect for boundaries can also foreshadow other issues.

Trust your intuition, it is probably steering you in the right direction!

The pumpkin patches where I live are open, which has me craving everything pumpkin. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin coffee, and even pumpkin ice cream! This next recipe is the best of both worlds – it is a healthy snack AND a pumpkin flavored treat. You can even drink it for breakfast. Pumpkin pie first thing in the morning? Count me in!

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup milk (regular or almond)
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Graham cracker for toppings

Place all of the ingredients except the graham crackers into your blender. Blend until smooth and then pour into a glass and top with graham cracker crumbs.

YUM! It’s like fall in a cup.

Life is crazy. Crazy busy, that is. We have jobs, school, church, family, friends, relationships and everything in-between competing for our attention. We rarely take the time to just slow…

Life is crazy. Crazy busy, that is. We have jobs, school, church, family, friends, relationships and everything in-between competing for our attention. We rarely take the time to just slow down and take life in. Our lives are in constant fast-forward, and we try to cram as much as we can into the day as we can. We are constantly connected to each other, and I blame this for some of the craziness. Even when we are sitting watching a movie, half the time we are on our computer and texting also. The whole life-in-fast-forward thing really bugs me. You only get one life, so why not slow it down and enjoy as much as you can of it? Here are a few ways to slow down and enjoy life.

  1. Do one thing at a time: Like I said earlier, lots of times when we are watching tv we are also on our phone, checking email, eating, and maybe 3 other things at once as well. Turn things off and focus on one thing at a time so you can really enjoy it!
  2. Take time to enjoy your hobbies: Block off some time and do something you love! Life isn’t all about work. Go on a run, read a chapter of a book, start a drawing, play the piano for a few minutes, take a break from life and do things that make you happy!
  3. Disconnect: Put your phone in a drawer and leave it there. Being connected to other people 24/7 via your phone is #1 exhausting and #2 doesn’t allow you any time to have “me” time and time to slow down. Only check your social media once or twice a day. You will be amazed how much time you have for other things when you limit yourself to that.
  4. Stop rushing around: Rushing around = stressful. Leave the house early to avoid the stress of running late and having to rush.

I need to take a dose of my own advice and slow down, too. Life can be so much more enjoyable when you stop and smell the roses and take the scenic route.

Face masks can do wonders for your skin.  There’s one for every skin type and for almost every skin issue.  Since face masks have gotten a lot of hype lately, brands have been coming out with unique masks that will blow your socks off!  Here are three that I find the most intriguing!

  • Too Faced’s Upcoming Glitter Galaxy Face Mask. Chelsea Crockett - Lush Face Mask This is, by far, one of the coolest masks I’ve ever heard of!  Although it isn’t officially out yet, the picture and video teasers have Too Faced fans excited for what’s to come.  I don’t have much information about the product yet  but you can see how cool it is in the picture above!  It peels right off and will leave your skin feeling smooth and fabulous.
  • Lush Cosmetics’ Cup O’ Coffee Face Mask.  If you’re a coffee lover, than you’ll love this face mask!  It deeply cleanses any impurities from your pores while working to eliminate dryness and oil.  It’s perfect to use in the morning because the coffee aroma helps give you that boost to wake you up!
  • Michael Todd’s Wild Berry Skin Peel.  Face mask peels can sometimes make a much bigger difference than regular face masks, depending on the brand or product.  There are several ingredients that make this product an intense exfoliator that helps with uneven tone and rough texture!

Girls either love camping or hate it.  I, for one, loving being outdoors especially if I’m hanging out with my friends and family!  Although it’s super fun, it can take a toll on my hair and skin when I’m outside for all hours of the day.  Here are some ways to keep yourself clean and healthy!

  • Dry Shampoo.Chelsea Crockett - Dry Shampoo  I know that when my hair feels gross, I feel gross.  Having dry shampoo with you wherever you go is always a necessity!  It’ll make both the feel and appearance of you hair 10x better.
  • SPF Moisturizer.  As you know, you should always, always moisturize.  But having a moisturizer with SPF protects you from the sun and is good for your skin!  Might as well kill two birds with one stone, right?
  • Baby Wipes.  If you don’t have a way to shower where you’re at, pack some baby wipes to clean yourself off with.  It sounds weird, but it’s a good way to clean off if you don’t have access to a shower!
  • Wave Spray.  If you’re having that bad of a hair day, get your hair wet and spray it with wave spray.  You can still have fabulous waves even if you feel like you’re not having the greatest hair day!

I know for me, I can never have too many tips on how to beat acne.  It’s something that I struggle with day-by-day and I’m sure a lot of you do too!  Sometimes all we can do is look to the pros for some professional tips and advice.  Here are a few ways to beat acne fast by people that know what they’re talking about!

  • Always, always, always wash your face before bed.  If you can’t find enough motivation to do this, at least take off your makeup.  Bacteria, dirt, and oil can sit in your pores overnight and cause much bigger problems to your skin than you think!
  • Don’t over-wash your face.  Yes, washing your face is crucial, but washing it too much can actually have the opposite effect!  It can leave your skin dry and brittle which will hurt your skin and make it start to flake.
  • Leave your pimples alone.  If you continue to pop your pimples or pick at them, they can get very irritated, very fast.  If you simply leave them alone, they’ll go away at their own pace without pain or scarring!
  • Keep oil-absorbing sheets in your purse.  Oily skin can be one of the most annoying things.  It makes it harder for your makeup to stay on and leaves your skin looking overly shiny.  Keep a few oil-absorbing sheets in your purse to blot off any excess oil!

I don’t know about you, but I constantly hear about the benefits of drinking lots of water.  I was always skeptical if it had as many beauty benefits as all the supermodels and celebrities say it has.  After I did some research, I found out it really is all it’s cracked up to be!  Here are some water beauty benefits that truly are beneficial and some that are simply myths!

Hair trends are like any other trend, they stay for a season or two then get replaced by even better ones!  This fall, there are a few upcoming looks that you just might have to try out for yourself!  Here are 5 hair trends you should know about for the upcoming season!

  • Caramel Brown.  Chelsea Crockett - Rose HairWinter is usually the time to go darker rather than lighter with your hair.  But if you don’t want to go too dark, go with a soft, caramel brown!  You can still switch up your look without going too out of your comfort zone.
  • Rose.  If you’re willing to get a little out of your comfort zone, try out a dusty rose color.  Pastel hair has become a trend in the past few years so why not hop on the bandwagon and try it out for yourself!
  • Red Accents/Highlights.  I’ve always been a little tempted to try this trend out for myself.  You can get a subtle red tint or go for a full head of vibrant, red highlights.  Whatever suits you best!
  • Bold Brown.  Instead of adding subtle brown highlights, be bold and go for a dark, chocolate brown.  Why not, right?!
  • Blonde Lowlights.  If you want something a little more natural, try blonde lowlights.  Although you can only get these if you’re already blonde, they give you that darker tint that’s perfect for the winter!

Lately I have started to work out at a crossfit gym to keep in shape and stay slim. I love crossfit because it pushes my muscles and my mind, but I have to admit that my first love is running. I love being able to put my headphones in, lace up my shoes, and drown the world out for a while. Running is a great way to get/stay in shape and improve your health. Here are 8 reasons why you should start running regularly (even if it is not your favorite).

  1. Running is simple: It doesn’t require a lot of equipment, it is easy to get into, there is no gym required, and everyone knows how to do it!
  2. You can do it anywhere: It is such an accessible sport. You can run in the park, on the trail, on the treadmill, in your neighborhood, anywhere! I recommend that if you are running in a rural area that you take someone with you for safety reasons.
  3. You can do it any time: In the morning, in the evening, during your breaks from class, if you are on vacation, you can do it any time! If there is bad weather, you can even run indoors.
  4. Helps you lose weight: Running not only helps you lose weight, it helps you keep the weight off for good.
  5. Reduces stress: If you are feeling stressed, running helps you boost the endorphins, or feel-good neurotransmitters, in your brain.
  6. Strengthens your immune system: Running helps protect your body from illness by strengthening your immune defenses.
  7. Makes you glow: Sweating is one of the body’s best ways of cooling down and helps you release toxins from your pores and skin. The more miles you rack up, the more toxins you get rid of, and the clearer your skin will be.
  8. Gets you to eat healthier: Athletes know that you are only as good as your diet choices. To make the most of your workout, you need to eat right. Running forces you to really stop and think about what you are putting in your body.

Running too much can be bad for your body and can wear you out, so make sure you are listening to your body and not overdoing it.

When you are in a relationship, are you a jealous person? Meaning, when you see your dude talking to one of your girlfriends, does it make you feel possessive of him and maybe a bit mad at the other girl for talking to him? He’s yours after all, right? Wrong. Ladies, we need to keep our jealousy in check. Feeling a little jealousy is natural, but snooping his Instagram and checking his texts when he isn’t looking is NOT. That could ruin your relationship, plus it is just exhausting worrying about him talking to other girls. Here are 4 ways to help you keep your jealousy in check.

  1. Be honest: Let your boyfriend know that you have been feeling jealous. Open up to him! In healthy relationships, you two are a team! He should be open to hearing what is on your mind, and he should want to help you overcome these feelings and work with you on it.
  2. Ask friends for advice: Odds are, they have felt some jealousy themselves. Your gal pals will know how to be supportive and lend an ear to hear you out. They may even have some tips on what helped them overcome jealousy.
  3. Take a step back: Step back and look at your relationship. If time goes by and your feelings of jealousy don’t ease, your boyfriend might be the culprit. He may be acting certain ways that he shouldn’t with girls that make you suspicious or jealous. Your feelings of jealousy might not be your doing! Look at your relationship from another perspective and be honest with yourself on whether your relationship is still healthy and positive.
  4. Stop snooping: As girls, we are great social media stalkers. We can find out anything! But, once you start social media snooping on your bf, it is hard to stop. Stop playing detective! It isn’t healthy! You should be able to trust him and his behaviors and interactions on social media. If not? See step 3.
