I know many of you, including me, are going on vacation in the upcoming months.  Whether you’re driving or flying to your destination, you’re going to need something to keep you occupied!  Here are just a few ideas to save you from boredom while anxiously awaiting your arrival!

Chelsea Crockett - Vacation Car As for me, I love listening to my favorite tunes.  Just popping in your headphones and relaxing in the car is always nice!  If you have a DVD player or laptop, bring a few of your favorite shows or movies.  That’ll quickly help pass the time!

Another one of my favorite things to do on long trips is online shop! Some of my favorite online stores are romwe.com and sammydress.com. I also love to look on apps called Pinterest and Wanelo. They have everything from shoes and dresses to accessories and phone cases!

For those who can’t access a smart phone or DVD player, I suggest bringing some of your favorite board or card games especially if you have siblings. Play against each other and make it fun! Having other people in the car to talk and laugh with can even occupy you for an hour or so! Also, bring a good book or magazine to pass some time. You might want to pack a few pillows and take a short catnap as well!  If you’re like me after a nap, I always wake up hungry! Be sure to pack a cooler or bag of your favorite drinks and snacks.

Here are just a few of many possibilities to keep you occupied on your road trip. Enjoy!

As you might know, I just recently got back from church camp! The week I spent there was totally life changing and brought me so much closer to God. The biggest thing I learned at camp was how important time alone with God is. Time alone with God strengthens your relationship with the Lord and shows Him how much you love Him.

One way to make sure you spend time alone with God every day is to set out a time each day just for devotions or reading your Bible. For you morning people, as soon as you wake up you can make it a point to reach for your Bible or devotional. For you night owls, after you do your nightly routine, climb into bed or find a quiet place to spend some time with God.

Another way to make sure you spend time with Him is to get a devotional that applies to you and interests you. A good devotional for teens is “Email from God” by Claire Cloninger and Curt Cloninge. The daily devotions are set up like they are emails from God to you, so it is super teen friendly!

Matthew 6:6 says “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

The reward God will give you for spending time with Him is not material things, but you will see a positive change in your relationships with your friends and family.

This week, try spending at least 10 minutes alone with God. See how it will change your life!

Hi Insiders,

Being a teenager can be tough.  Between school, hanging out with friends, sports, and work, there’s hardly any time to spend with your parents.  A quick “hi” and “bye” is the typical conversation these days.  As you all know, I really love my family.  If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now!  They’ve always been there for me and encouraged me to follow my dreams.  You may not always realize it, but your parents love you so much!  Here are a few ideas to show your parents you appreciate them as much as you do.Chelsea Crockett- family life

  • Always tell them you love them before you leave the house and before you go to sleep.  A simple “I love you” can go a long way.
  • Invite them to different school functions you’re attending.  Whether it be a football game or tennis match, it’ll show your parents that you enjoy being around them.
  • Talk to them!  Don’t be afraid to open up.  They are your support system.  This will create a stronger bond.
  • Write them a card.  Sometimes it’s hard to tell someone exactly how you feel face to face, so write out a nice letter to show your appreciation.  It doesn’t have to be a birthday or holiday for someone to receive a card!
  • Set aside at least  one night a week for a family dinner.  It’s a great way to sit down and spend time with your parents.

I encourage all of you to spend more time with your family.  They will always be there for you!  “Honor your father and mother.  Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

Love,

Pinterest is one of the greatest websites on the Internet!  It’s full of beautiful pictures of the latest outfits, beauty trends, and our amazing world.  You can create your own account and “repin” or “like” your favorite images to look back on or share with your friends.  It’s also great if you’re looking to jump start your workout routine and need fresh ideas for yummy, healthy meals.  The categories range from beauty to fitness to DIY.  It has all of your needs!

Wanelo, another great website that’s similar to Pinterest, focuses more on the fashion and beauty side of things.  It has cute home décor pieces as well.  The great thing about Wanelo is it tells you where you can actually buy everything.  Make birthdays and Christmas easier by creating a wish list and making Wanelo your one stop shop for all of your favorite things!

My New Year’s Resolutions!

Hey Insiders,

First of all, I just want to say congratulations for making it (almost) all the way to 2014! This year has been an amazing, crazy year for me. I have learned so much about myself. For me, 2014 is going to be a year of new opportunities, change, and growth! Now there are the usual New Year’s resolutions like “I want to eat healthier” or “I want to exercise more”, but mine are a little different.

Since YouTube is a big part of my life, I thought I would start out with those resolutions. Recently, I have hit 540,000 followers! This was a huge step for me and I am so grateful and thankful for all of my followers! OnChelsea Crockett new years that note, I would really like to reach 600,000 followers this year. My next YouTube resolution is to make better quality videos and to create a better schedule for them. By creating better videos, I can give my viewers a more enjoyable experience. Also, by creating a schedule for my videos, you guys can see what day I am posting each video. This way you can make sure to catch each video you don’t want to miss! Another part of my resolution is to create more time for YouTube. Like I said, you guys are so important to me, and YouTube is a huge part of my life, so I would like to have more time to devote to it.

Now for my personal resolutions. This year I would like to become closer to God and spend more time learning about Him. I wouldn’t be where I am without Him! Also, I would like to spend more time with my family. Finding time for family is really important because they are the people who support you and help you through every obstacle in your life. This year I would also like to branch out socially and make new friends! Don’t get me wrong, the friends I have right now are amazing, but you can never have too many friends!  My next resolution is to be more open and honest with people, and that includes you all! I consider you guys family, so it is really important to be open and honest with you all. My last resolution is to give myself time to breathe. I am always so busy, and I need to make time to relax and catch my breath.

I know it is going to be hard to keep up with all of these resolutions, but I am going to try my best! My advice on New Year’s resolutions is to make them realistic. If you make them unrealistic you will lose motivation and just quit them all together! Also, don’t stress about them. Just try and be the best person you can be. This year is going to be a great year for all of us, I just know it!

XOXO, Chels

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you have seen the big pile of adorable wrinkles that is my new puppy Ella! She is a Shar Pei, just like my other dog Buster! In honor of the new four-legged addition to my family, I thought I would formally introduce you to my other canine companions, Buster and Jolly!

Buster is a 2 year old Shar Pei, which are originally Chinese fighting dogs. The story of how we got Buster is actually kind of funny. My family and I were at my sister’s soccer tournament when we saw a pet store going out of business. While my sister was playing, mom and I went to the store to play with the puppies. My mom loved Buster from the moment she saw him. But me? Not so much. I actually thought he was a really ugly puppy, to tell you the truth. The first thing I noticed about Buster was how disobedient he was. That is how we came up with his name! Because he was a Chinese fighting dog, no one

Chelsea Crockett dog busterreally wanted him. My dad bargained with the store owners to try and get him cheaper. He is quite the deal maker! The whole way home (it was a five hour drive, mind you) Buster kept crying and whining and pooping. Yes, pooping. We think that he was so nervous that he couldn’t hold it in. We stopped in a parking lot to clean out his cage, and all the while we were getting questioning looks from people passing by. What is so weird about a group of people cleaning poop out a cage in the middle of a parking lot, huh? Buster was crammed in the back seat of our truck along with my brother, sister and I. My dad keptrepeating “Why did we get him. Why did we get him.” All. The. Way. Home. Needless to say, he was getting a little annoyed with Buster’s non-stop whining, crying, and pooping. When we brought buster home, Jolly took right to him. They were instantly friends!

My dog Jolly is a beautiful, big Black Lab. We got Jolly in 2008 when she was 1.5 years old. She had originally been living on the streets. She was found on the side of the highway along with a group of puppies. When we got her she was in her third rescue home. The rescue home said that no one had wanted her. She had no idea why! Jolly is so obedient and shy. She is the sweetest dog ever! We got her on Christmas day 2008. Our dad told us he had a surprise for us, and he drove us to the shelter. We were so excited! We had always wanted a dog. We knew she was the one as soon as we saw her. My dad started calling out commands to her and she did them! He told her to sit, and to lay down. She had a little trouble with the “roll over” command, though. We named her Jolly because we got her on Christmas.

Buster and Jolly are a dynamic duo. We Crocketts love our dogs! What kind of dogs do you have? Comment below!

XOXO, Chels

I had a great time on the rides and walking around the park, but I think what I loved most of all watching my brother and sister being so happy. It was impossible to see everything, I can’t wait to go back again one day!

As many of you know, I am a dog lover. I have two beautiful puppy dogs named Buster and Jolly. I am going to separate the blogs about my dogs into two separate posts, just so you all can get to know my canine companions a little better.

On Christmas Day 2008, my dad told us he had a surprise for us, and he drove us to the shelter. We were so excited! We had always wanted a dog. Almost immediately after walking in we saw a big beautiful Black Lab, we knew she was the one as soon as we saw her. My dad started calling out commands to her and she did them! She was 1.5 years old and the woman at the shelter said that Jolly had been living on the streets and was found on the side of the highway along with a group of puppies. Jolly is so obedient and shy – she is the sweetest dog ever, I don’t understand why someone didn’t want her.

She means the world to me, best dog a girl could ever have. Soon I’ll tell you about Buster!
