Hello Lovelies,

Christmas break is one of the most popular times for vacation.  While many families try to beat the winter cold by hitting the beach, other families enjoy snow skiing or may be visiting families up north.  So how do you pack for a cold winter vacation?  Check out my perfect packing guide.

Packing for a winter vacation can be tough.  Fitting your boots, cold weather outerwear, and clothes in one suitcase can be tricky.  So how can you narrow it down?  Pack the basics!  Black, brown, grey, and white are the first colors you should pack.  One pair of black and brown boots will last you the entire vacation.  They can be worn with any outfit!  When packing coats, think warmth and style.  Bring along you’re warmest coat and your favorite stylish coat, like a pea coat, for nights out.  You never know how cold it’s going to be!  Also, don’t forget your gloves and leg warmers!  A super cute trend this winter is legChelsea Crockett- socks and boots warmers or tall socks sticking out of the top of your boots.  Not only does it add an extra element to your outfit, but it’ll keep your legs warmer.

If you are going on a vacation this Christmas break, have a fabulous time!  Have fun packing!

Love,

            Chelsea

Pastels, They Aren’t Just for the Spring Anymore!

Hi Insiders,

Pastel colors have been making a name for themselves this winter.  What once used to be only for spring is now making its way to the colder months.  Although a full on pastel outfit probably isn’t the best way to style this trend, there are a few great ways to incorporate these soft colors in your everyday winter wardrobe.

Mint green and light pink are two of my favorite pastel colors right now.  The mint green is especially good for winter. Adding fun pastel colored accessories to your wardrobe is a great way to change things up.  Try wearing a soft colored chunky necklace with a cream or grey sweater.  Even try throwing on a light pink cross body with your winter pea coat.  Another great way to add a little pastel to your outfit is to wear a subtle pair of pastel studs.  This will add a touch of color toChelsea Crockett- pastel outfit any outfit.

If you’re willing to be a little more daring, try a mint green dress!  Pair it with black or nude tights and a cardigan.  Even throw on a light colored sweater with cream skinny pants.  These outfits will really standout against the white winter snow!  If you’re going to be outside for a while throw on a pastel scarf, hat, or ear warmer.  There’s nothing cuter than fashionable winter gear!  If you’re wearing a pastel outfit and want to add jewelry, pearls are the way to go!  You don’t want to add bold metal jewelry to soft-toned colors.  Keep it light!  Don’t be afraid to incorporate some of your spring items into your winter wardrobe.  You never know when you’ll inspire someone else to change up their look!

Love,

Hi Insiders!

Halloween is just around the corner!  It’s such a festive time of the year when you can dress up for a night and not be yourself.  Costumes can be expensive, time consuming, and some people don’t like to dress up; so what if you want to engage in the Halloween festivities, but don’t want to wear a costume?  I’ve got a few ideas for you to still get in the Halloween spirit without fully dressing up! Chelsea Crockett- ghost sweatshirt

Try hitting up a store like Forever21 or even a thrift shop and searching for a graphic tee or sweatshirt with a cute pumpkin, ghost, or black cat.  Try wearing an over-sized sweatshirt with leggings and boots or a graphic tee with your favorite pair of jeans! Style it like you normally would and you’re good to go!  Another simple Halloween statement piece you could wear is a spooky pair of leggings.  Find a crazy pair with skeleton bones or tiger stripes on them.  Throw on a solid colored tee and you’ve got yourself a subtle, yet stylish costume!

Another festive way to get ready for Halloween is with Halloween colors!  If you don’t want to wear something affiliated with Halloween try wearing orange, black or purple.  This way, you’ll be sporting the holiday colors without having to dress up!  Halloween isn’t all about dressing up, but it is part of the fun.  Don’t forget these simple tips for being festive without actually wearing a costume!

Happy Halloween!

How to Rock a Floral Dress in the Fall

Hello Girls!

I’m sure when you think of a floral dress you think of the spring or summer.  I do too!  Well, floral dresses are all the rage this fall.  Although it may be a little chilly at times, there are a few ways to put a classic twist on a floral print dress to make it a ready to wear fall dress.ChelseaCrockett- floral dress + boots

A great way to transition a floral dress to the fall is to throw on a pair of leather combat boots.  This will tone down the “girliness” and give it an edgy feel.  If you’re wearing dark jewel tones like ruby red, maroon, or plum purple, go for a dark brown boot.  If you are wearing a shade of blue, grey, or green, pick a black leather boot!  Lace them up and you’re good to go!

Since it’s fall, closed toed shoes are a must.  Oxford flats look awesome with a girly dress since it gives it a masculine flare.  Also, try pairing your dress with a jean, leather, or cloth jacket to keep warm in the chilly fall air.  Don’t be afraid to throw on a jacket with some embellishments or studs.  This can only take your outfit to the next level and who wouldn’t want that?  Another great way to keep warm is to throw on an over-sized sweater over the dress.  This will make the dress appear to be a skirt, but in an extremely fashionable way.  Have fun incorporating your spring and summer clothes into Chelsea Crockett- floral dressthe fall.  Comment below if you have any other suggestions!

Love you all,

Some of you may have seen my YouTube video on this subject, but I just wanted to recap and summarize everything we went over in the video so you can look your absolute best while cheering on your home team!

The very first thing I do when getting ready is apply Neutrogena Shine Control Primer to my face. This keeps my skin from looking shiny, makes sure my makeup stays in place, and evens out the redness in my skin! Next I apply my Garnier BB cream and blend it into my skin. I am loving this BB cream because it matches my skin tone perfectly! Next I brush my Bare Minerals powder over my skin with my Royal brushes (which I am in love with, BTW!), and then apply my “Radiance” blush by MAC. After that I style my eyebrows using my Royal brushes again! Next I apply eyelid primer by “The Balm” and eye shadow by NYX called “Love In Florence”. To finish my makeup off, I add some liquid eyeliner and mascara by The Balm and some Nivea “A Kiss of Cherry” lip balm!

And now for the hair! I recommend wearing your hair up. It will keep you from getting too hot! First, I lightly mist my hair with dry shampoo and then brush my hair so the dry shampoo absorbs all of the excess oils. Then I take my hair and put it into a loose low pony, make a hole in the middle, and then tuck it through! If you don’t like how that looks, just keep tucking it so it turns into a twisted bun.

Now,finally, the outfit! In my video I am wearing the jacket I won at BeautyCon, but to your football game I recommend you wear a school shirt. Wear something with your school name, mascot, or a shirt from a school sport you played! Top the outfit off with a cute pair of jeans and some trendy tennis shoes.

Hello Lovelies,

A moto jacket is the coolest item you can add to an outfit this fall.  It can toughen up even the girliest outfit and add edginess to a t-shirt and jeans.  Whatever the life throw at you, you’ll be ready to go in your hot, new moto jacket.

Moto, or biker, jackets come in so many varieties.  From leather to suede to color block styles, you’ll never run out of options to go with your outfit!  My favorite style of biker jacket is leather.  Try to find a worn leather look to give it that vintage feel.  A fun way to wear a leather moto jacket is with a floral print dress.  This will dress down the floral dress giving it an edgy look.  They contradict each other, which makes the look more Chelsea Crockett- colorblock jacketdaring!  Another daring look is to rock a jean moto jacket with jean pants.  As long as the shades are different, then it is okay!  When it comes to this look, pair it with a simple tee and plain colored flats.  You don’t want to overpower the jacket.  The last involves a color block biker jacket.  This type of jacket can come in all materials and colors.  Depending on what color you pick out, keep your look simple.  Adding a neutral colored dress and oxford shoes to your color block jacket creates a simple sophisticated look with a pop of color.  A motoChelsea Crockett- biker jacket jacket is all about living life on the edge, so be daring with your style!  Don’t hide behind your same, boring look!

Love you all!

A really pretty way to display your initials is around your neck.  Monogrammed necklaces are all the rage right now.  They are available in pretty, girly fonts and go great with any outfit!  You can order them in large or small pendants!  Another fun thing to get monogrammed is handbags.  Famous designers like Longchamp and Rebecca Minkoff have started offering monogrammed bags.  If you’re not willing to shell out a couple hundred for a handbag, check out websites like Etsy for alternative bags.  Etsy is a great website to check out for anything and everything monogrammed.  They’ve got pieces from jewelry to handbags to home decorations.  You may find monogrammed items at places in the mall like Forever21 and Francesca’s Collections.  Check it out and hop on the monogrammed trend!

Hi Insiders,

If you live with a male at your house, like your dad or brother, you may notice a few items of clothing that resemble items in your closet!  Funny, right?  Back in the day, girls used to only wear dresses, but as time went by, women started wearing as they please…even clothes that resembled a man’s!  A few style staples today may resemble a man’s business attire, but they show the power of women!  Check out a few of these masculine items with a feminine flare.   Chelsea Crockett - Blazer

  • Blazer: A blazer is an item that has become a fashion icon.  They are so easy to throw on with a white tee and a pair of jeans to dress up the look, or to wear with a dress or skirt for a more professional look.  To make a blazer more girly, add a fun broach for a little “bling” or pair with a really feminine outfit.
  • Over-sized men’s t-shirts:  This year it’s been all about the street style, “grungy” look.  An over-sized tee is so easy to throw on with a pair of skinny jeans and hit the road!
  • Neck scarf: Comparable to a man’s’ tie, a neck scarf can add a pop of color to any look!  Wear it like a scarf or tie it in a pretty bow for a fun accent.
  • Oxford shoes: Celebrities like Taylor Swift are all for a good pair of Oxford shoes.  They are a timeless look that looks great paired with jeans or a fun nautical look.  They give any girly look a slight masculine flare.

Next time you get dressed up for an event, check out what the men are wearing.  Maybe you can come up with a masculine look with a girly twist!

Wanna know what the fall 2013 hair trends are? Good, cuz I am about to tell you!

Messy Beach Bun: These buns look effortless and wind-blown! You can achieve this look by sectioning off the hair in front of your head (where your bangs would be) and pulling the rest of your hair up into a ponytail just below the crown. Twist the pony into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. Next, curl the hair in the front loosely and then randomly pin them around the bun in the back.chelsea crockett messy bun

Upside Down French Braid: I am in love with this trend! It is so stinkin cute. It is not as hard as it looks! Just flip your head upside down and start the braid at the nape of your neck. Braid it until you get to your crown. Gather the rest of your hair and combine it all into a ponytail. Wrap the ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Viola!upside down french braid chelsea crockett

Braided Headband: This style is so classy! How do you do it? First, part your hair down the middle. Then make a small braid on each ear starting behind each ear. Pull them over each other and pin them tightly against the top of the head.chelsea crockett braided headband

I hope these work for ya!

Hi Lovelies,

So I’m sure that many of you have school uniforms, especially if you go to a private school.  Even public schools have restrictions on what you can wear.  Sometimes it can be hard to show your individuality and express yourself through your fashion and style in a school setting.  I’ll give you a quick guide to bring your own style to school, without breaking dress code.

  • Have fun school accessories!  A fun backpack is a stylish way to carry your books.  Pick up a fun colored or printed backpack, like cheetah and carry your books in style!  It’ll also add a pop of color to even the dullest outfit.
  • Throw on an awesome pair of shoes!  Sandals and boots are my favorite shoes around.  They come in every style and color and some are even “blinged” out.  Everyone will be impressed with your new kicks!
  • Bling yourself out!  Don’t be afraid to throw on a pretty necklace and some crazy earrings to dress up your dull school uniform.  You canChelsea Crockett- backpack never go wrong with jewelry!

Throwing on a scarf can add a pop of color too!

I hope this little guide will help you bring your own individual style to a school uniform.  Remember, don’t break school code, but have fun with your style!

3 Secrets to Growing Your Hair Long and Strong

Hey darlings!

Do you ever get frustrated with having short hair? Do you get tired of waiting months and months for it to grow to the length you want? Today I am going to fill you in on the three secrets of growing your hair long and strong!

Tip#1:

Take vitamins! Vitamins give your hair strength which helps prevent breakage. When your hair starts getting split ends, it causes it to break off and get shorter. Vitamins also strengthen your immune system which promotes hair growth. A supplement I recommend is Biotin, which is a naturally occurring B-vitamin. It renews the follicles and roots of the hairs that are already growing. It gives you thicker, fuller, and healthier hair!

 Tip#2:

Drink lots of water! Drinking water increases the amount of moisture in your hair. Water makes up approximately one fourth of the weight of a strand of hair and when hair has the proper amount of water, it will respond by being strong and shiny. Also, Water is just plain healthy for you! By upping your water intake, you are making your body healthier, which will make your hair healthier.chelsea crockett water

 Tip#3:

Give yourself a scalp massage! By massaging your scalp, whether it is in the shower while you are shampooing or just sitting on the couch watching TV, Can increase the blood flow throughout your scalp and stimulate hair growth! chelsea crockett shampoo

So are you all ready to take the leap and try out these awesome tips? I know I am! Comment below and tell me which one of these tips you think will work best for your hair.

Dear Chelsea,

For skin that’s acne prone, what full coverage foundation do you recommend?

Xoxo,
Lisa

I definitely have personal experience with this one! This is a problem that a lot of teenagers struggle with. It is a very frustrating situation and it can make even the most confident person very insecure, so this is something that I am passionate about.

First of all, I would suggest that you target the problem head on. I truly believe that a good skin care regimen is vital in improving and maintaining good skin. I also feel that you can clean up the acne from within.  Having a good diet, lots of water and good sleep.

Good luck with whatever you choose and be confident. Confidence is the most attractive quality!

Hey Insiders,

My next few blogs are going to be about the celebrities that I get my inspiration from. My posts are going to focus on their style and her makeup techniques. Today I am going to write about Lana Del Rey!

Lana’s style is kind of all over the place. In some situations she can be chic and classy, but in others she can be crazy hipster. She has dark auburn hair, which she usually wears curled in big, 1970’s looking waves. She can pull off almost anything. I have seen her wear a cropped t-shirt and high waisted cut-off jean shorts with red converse and still look amazing! I am going to take it that the t-shirt and converse look is her “laid back” look. She really gives off a strong retro vibe. Most of her outfits have a “blast from the past” kind of feel. She looks like she walked right out of the 70’s!

For Lana’s makeup, her trademark is the winged eyeliner. She can really pull it off! The winged liner goes along with her retro vibe. She is often photographed wearing dark lipsticks, such as dark burgundy or scarlet. She can totally pull it off! She has super plump lips, so this look can work for her. In a lot of her photos she gives off a sort of pouty look, which can be traced back to her bodacious lips. She also has very thick eyelashes, which just add to her glamorous essence.

Lana is such a beautiful woman. Her style goes right along with her personality. She takes the retro style to a whole new level. Go look her up, I bet you will agree with me!
