Are you a morning person? If you are, I envy you. Most girls are running around in the morning like crazy people trying to get out the door because they slept past their alarms! If you are one of these ladies who is always running late, here is a quick, fabulous hair do for you to try.

The Messy Pony!

Chelsea Crockett messy pony

Ladies, everyone can rock the classic messy pony. Sometimes, a regular ponytail is just too basic and boring. Spruce it up! Here are the steps to getting that chic, super-fast updo.

1. Take the sections of hair that are at your temples and pull up the section like you were going to do the “half-up half-down” hair style. Spray this section with dry shampoo to absorb all of the access oils! Now that you have the top section of your hair, take the back part of the section and start teasing from the back to the front. Before you tease the small section, spray some hairspray at the root of the hair because this will help the hair to stay teased!

2. As you get closer to the front of your hair, tease the hair less so you don’t see as much of a rats nest. Leave out the front section of hair so that you can use it to cover the teased portion. Mist your hair with hairspray because this will give your hair texture!

3. Take the sections of hair behind your ears and bring them to the front. Now that you have both the top section of your hair and the sections behind your ears all pushed towards the front of your head, take the back section of hair that is left and create your first ponytail. Make it close to the middle of your head, not too high and not too low!

4. Flip the front and side sections back and pin your tease down with bobby pins however you want. If you want a high tease, make it happen! If you want less tease, that is totally fine too! Just pin your hair closer to your head if you don’t want as much tease. Pull your remaining hair back and add it to your first ponytail! If you want to add a little accent to the pony, you can add in your favorite headband.

Easy, right? Now go rock those messy ponies!

Hey cuties!  Being at a young age, it’s a good thing to show off your natural beauty.  Trying to find a look that highlights your natural features is quick and easy to do.  Before applying any makeup, know that you want to keep it light, light, light.  Your goal is to show your natural self and you can’t do that by caking on makeup to cover it up!

Chelsea Crockett - Natural MakeupThe first step to almost any tutorial is to apply moisturizer and you’re ready to go.  An easy start to this look is to apply an airfoam foundation which will blend perfectly with your skin and keep it extra light.  After, cover up any imperfections with concealer to keep your face looking clean and beautiful.  Place more concealer under and in the inner corners of your eyes to eliminate any dark circles and to brighten up your face as well.  As far as your face goes, finish it off with a light pink blush on the apples of your now rosy cheeks.  And for eyes, that’s easy.  Keep it simple by dabbing a nude colored eye shadow to your eyelids and just a little mascara on your upper and lower lashes.

That should do it!  Everyone has their own natural beauty so it’s time to show off yours!

How many of you love drinking Crystal Light? It can be quite a tasty beverage! But, I bet you didn’t know that you can make this sweet drink into lip gloss! Now before you go and call me crazy, read on and find out how! The whole process takes a total of two minutes! I found this tutorial on loveumadly.com

Materials:

–          Crystal Light packets, preferably flavors with red and pink colors.lip-gloss-41-1024x680

–          Vaseline

–          A small, portable container

–          A mixing tool (such as a plastic knife)

Fill your small empty container with your Vaseline. Add the Crystal Light and keep adding and stirring until you have the color you want. Wait an hour for the Crystal Light granules to dissolve so you don’t have gritty lip gloss. After the granules have dissolved, slap some on those lips! You just made your very own, super tasty, lip gloss! Pat yourself on the back and pucker up!

Do you ever watch movies on your phone in bed and wish there was a way to make the picture bigger? Well fear not, for I have a solution! There is a way to turn your smartphone into a projector…for less than 3 dollars!! Ill tell you how.

What you will need:

–          A shoe box

–          Magnifying glass1385645405_09

–          A stand of some kind for your phone (you can make one out of  a paperclip)

–          Your phone

–          A blade or knife

–          Duct tape

1. On one of the ends of your box, find the center and place your magnifying glass smack dab in the center and trace around it.

2. Cut your hole where you traced around the lens and stick the lens in the hole. Tape the magnifying glass down and make sure that no light can leak in. Seal the cracks with duct tape. Poke a hole in the back of the box where you can stick your charger cable through it.

3. This is when you find a stand for your phone or you fashion one out of a paperclip.

4. Science comes into play at this point. When light passes through any lens, it is flipped upside down, which will make the picture from your projector appear upside down. To fix this, go to settings > general > accessibility > and turn on assistive touch. Then select device > rotate screen. Then, turn your screen brightness all the way up.

5. Move the phone around in the box until you find the point where the focus is the most clear. Then close the box and find yourself a blank wall!

Pop you some popcorn, because you just created your own home theatre!!

If you are like me, then you love having pictures displayed around your room. They remind me of the good times I have had and the great people I have had them with. Picture frames can sometimes be a bit pricey, though, and can be a little plain! I found a great DIY to help display those photos in a super cute way! Check it out:

download (3)

What you need:

–          Clothes pins

–          Cardboard

–          Pictures

Cut a medium sized circle out of your cardboard. Make it look like a donut, with the center cut out. If you want, you can cover the ring with decorative paper or fabric to add a little extra oomf to it! Next, hot glue your clothes pins onto the cardboard ring. Make sure they are evenly spaced out and spread out enough that you can fit multiple pictures around the ring without being too crowded. Boom, you are finished! If you want, you can make multiple clothes pin frames and hang them close together in your room to create wall art. Sweet, right?

Show off your artistic side with these cute frames!

I don’t know if you all love bows, but I sure do. There is just something so fun and flirty and feminine about them! Today I am going to tell you how to create a super cute hair style where you use your hair to create a bow! Read on!

1. Pull your hair into the half-up half-down style, pulling the hair roughly from ear to ear. The more hair you take the bigger the bow will be!

 2. When you are pulling your hair back into the half-up half-down ponytail, once you have wrapped the ponytail holder around your hair twice, don’t pull the hair all the way through. Leave your hair in the loop/bubble position. Face the hair that is sticking out of the bubble towards your forehead.

 3. Split your bubble in half. This is what is making both sides of the bow! Take the hair that is sticking out of the bubble, the ends of your hair, and pull it down the middle where you split your hair. Hold it in place.

4. Use bobby pins to secure the bow and pin any stray hairs into the bow. Mist with hair spray.

Easy, right? I am adding pictures for you visual people, sometimes seeing done helps you do it yourself!

Have you heard of the new trend called “gel” manicures? They are pretty expensive manicures where the top coat of the manicure seals the nail polish for a few weeks or more. It is super handy because the polish doesn’t chip or come off for a long time, so you don’t have to worry about re-applying your polish once it starts to chip. Here is a super cheap (only 5$!!) way to give yourself a gel manicure!

What you will need:

download

–          Gelous Advanced Gel Coat (you MUST have this!)

–          Any nail polish you want-

–          Any top coat you want

Make sure to follow the instructions on the back of the “Gelous” bottle, because they will tell you the exact technique on how to achieve this manicure! If you are having trouble getting the technique down, YouTube has tons of videos that will show you how to give yourself this manicure. Some of my friends did this before the Homecoming dance to save money and give themselves a manicure that would last, and it worked! I was super impressed with how they turned out. If you are a nail polish lover like I am, then this is perfect for you! You can find these products at your local drug store, such as Walgreens. So next time you are tempted to pay 30$ for a gel manicure at the salon, save your money and give yourself one for FIVE DOLLARS!!

Chelsea Crockett - Tank TopHey girlies!  Rocking your own style is one of the best things about fashion.  You can mix and match until you find a perfect look that fits you.  One of my favorite things I’ve discovered is how to use an ordinary piece of clothing and make it your own.  The easiest way to do so is with an everyday tank top or t-shirt.

A new trend I see almost every where is high waisted shorts.  Tucking your tank into these is super casual, cute, and quick!  If you have a looser shirt and don’t think it will look good tucked in, leave it out and gather it together in the front.  After that, make a small tie on either the right or left side of your shirt.  This still shows off your shorts and gives your look a more creative feel.  Another way to wear your tank is simply letting it hang straight down.  If you’re just lounging around or watching a movie with friends, this keeps it comfy and casual.  You also don’t have to worry about constantly keeping it tucked in.  These three styles are easy to do and will look great wherever you are this summer!

Chelsea Crockett - Picture Cork BoardIf you’ve ever seen Pottery Barn, you’ll know that all of their merchandise is fun and creative, but don’t forget a little pricey!  One of their products is a photo cork board, such as the one on the left.  Most people don’t want to pay for things that they can easily make at home.  That being said, here’s a short tutorial on a DIY picture cork board!

First off, you’ll need to determine how big you want your board, depending on the size of the wall you put it on.  Here’s what you need for one such as the board above!  First, find nine small squares of cork board.  Keep in mind the size of your wall!  You’ll need to go to your nearest craft store such as Hobby Lobby for example.  Then, pick out nine colors or patterns of cloth that will look best in your room!  Make sure you get the right sized cloth to glue onto your cork.  Once you get home, I suggest taking a hot glue gun to glue your cloth and cork together.  Then, ask a parent, or someone who is good with a saw, to cut a piece of thin plywood the size that you need.  Remember to leave room for your frame.  After, take your nine material cork squares and glue them to the plywood in whatever order you want.  Last, cut some trim to frame the outside of your patterned board.  Make sure to use a strong glue to glue it on.  There are many ways to hang your board on your wall.  Ask help from a parent for which way is best.  Then add as many photos or decorations as you want!  Enjoy!

If you’re like me, you like a good DIY! Today I am going to show you my top 3 favorite cutoff denim short DIYs.

My first denim DIY is the bleached cutoffs! These are super easy and hipster-ish. I prefer to do this DIY with high waisted shorts. I went to Goodwill and picked up a pair of old high-waisted jeans, brought them home, and cut them into shorts! If you want the shorts to be rolled, then cut them a little longer so you can roll them up. Take your shorts and put them in a laundry tub. Make sure to wear rubber gloves during this next step! Then, mix 2 parts water and 1 part liquid bleach into your bucket. When you put the shorts in the water, only put the bottoms of the shorts in because the bleach will climb up them. Check on the shorts every hour or so and take them out when you have the desired color! Make sure to rinse the shorts out really well and then put them in the washer. Viola!

Chelsea Crockett cutoffsThe second DIY is lace cutoffs! First, find a pair of jeans you want to cut into shorts. Next, cut a triangle shaped hole in the outside seam of each leg of the shorts. Next, cut Triangles a bit larger than the holes you cut in the shorts out of the lace. Pin the triangles of lace to your shorts over the holes that you cut. Then sew the lace on, and Viola! Easy peasy! Desktop79

Now go rock your fresh new DIYs!

Natural Hair Dyes

Ever wanted to dye your hair, but your parents won’t let you?  Or maybe you’re afraid of the potential effects from hair dye?  Well, now you don’t need to worry.  There are many natural ingredients that can help tint your hair into the color you want.

  • Lemon Juice.  If you dribble a little bit of lemon juiceChelsea Crockett - Lemon Juice Hair onto your hair, it lightens it and gives you a tint of blonde highlights.  Especially for brunettes, it will start to look like you have light brown/blonde highlights!  As for blondes, you can simply lighten up your locks with lemon juice!  P.S. This only works if you’re out in the sun!  So, get some sunlight after you apply it to your hair!
  • Black Tea.  Sounds crazy but dying your hair with black tea actually works!  In order to get light brown hair, you have to mix it with a few ingredients.  If you mix together black tea, an eighth of lemon juice, and a teaspoon of olive oil and apply it to your hair, it will give you the hair color you want.  Make sure you soak your hair in it for up to 2 hours!  For a dark brown shade of hair, soak your hair in plain black tea and stay out in the sun for a couple hours!  It’s as simple as that!
  • Kool-Aid.  I know it’s not necessarily a “natural” hair dye, but it does color your hair!  Pick any Kool-Aid flavor and you can simply dye all of your hair or just a chunky strand of it!  Awesome, right?

Some of you may have tried Chex’s “Muddy Buddies” snack, but have you ever tried making something similar at home?  “Puppy Chow” is just as good, if not better, and a perfect treat for birthday celebrations or pool parties.

To start off, you’ll need this list of ingredients:

 Chelsea Crockett - Puppy Chow

  • 1 bag of milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 box of Chex rice cereal
  • ¾ of a bag of powdered sugar

Now that you have got your ingredients, you’re ready to start the process.  Melt your bag of milk chocolate chips in the microwave for two minutes.  Make sure you put them in a microwavable bowl first.  Then in a large bowl, mix together the melted chocolate, 1 cup of peanut butter, and 1 stick of melted butter.  After they’re fully mixed together, pour this over the box of Chex rice cereal and stir until it coats the cereal.  To finish it off, sprinkle ¾‘s of a bag of powdered sugar until that coats it as well.  Once you’ve completed this, it’s time to chow on the “Puppy Chow”!

I personally love the “boho” style. It is so urban and chic! Today I am going to teach you how to create your own boho turban headband, which can be worn with any casual outfit to add a little edge to your updo! Here are the steps to achieve this look:130995f96628c612c8f4490d0cb1ff5b

 1. Pick out a floral or printed scarf. The scarf should be about 60 inches long or longer, because it has to fit all the way around your head while folded in half! Fold the scarf in half equally so that the ends touch.

2. Take one end of your folded scarf in each hand. Place the middle section of the scarf at the back of your head and bring the ends towards your forehead. Take one of the loose ends of your scarf and place it through the loop of the scarf that is in your other hand.

4. After you have pulled one of the loose ends through the loop, tie the loose ends together at the top of your head. Tie it tight enough where it won’t move, but loose enough to where it is not hurting you.

5. Tuck the loose ends that you just tied together so that they do not show.

Super easy, right? Now you can go out and look like a boho babe. This accessory can be worn with a simple updo, such as a messy but, or you can even pair it with a braid! Experiment and see what you like best!

XOXO,

Chels

Chelsea Crockett- eggs  Do you ever look at a picture you took and notice how oily your face looks?  Do you have to reapply powered foundation every couple hours to keep the oil off your face?  Well, if you said yes, I have the perfect face mask for you!  It’s an egg mask, sounds gross, but hey, it gets the job done!  The ingredients to make this mask are very simple, just one organic egg and two small bowls.  Start off by washing the shell of your egg and separating the yolk and egg white into the different bowls.  The easiest way to do this is to slide the egg yolk back and forth, draining out the egg whites.  Now, with a clean fork, beat the egg whites.  Once you start to see bubbles, then you know it’s ready.  Clean your face of all makeup, and using a tablespoon of the egg whites, apply it all over your face using your fingers.  Let it dry, you won’t be able to smile, and rinse off.  Now, it’s time for the egg yolk.  It is actually a natural face moisturizer.  Break open the yolk and apply a small, yet generous, amount to your face.  Again, let it dry and rinse it off.  Finish with your favorite face moisturizer and voilà; you’ve got soft, silky, and non-oily skin.  It’s as easy as that!

Enjoy,

            Chelsea
