Repair Unwanted Summer Damage

Hey everyone!  With summer coming to a close, we want to make sure we’re looking our best for the upcoming school year.  Throughout the summer, our skin and hair receive unwanted damage from too many days in the pool and sun.  Luckily, with the help of developed products, you can easily fix your dead skin and body cells!

I know most of us love swimming and days at the pool, but of course, too much of anything is never good.  Most pools contain chlorine which creates some bad effects on our bodies.  Chlorine dries out your skin and hair and even brings redness to your eyes.  To fix your post-pool hair, try using the Philip Kingsley Swimcap.  This cream repairs the dried and damaged parts of your hair and also protects it from the sun next time you take a dip at the pool.  Even members of the U.S. Olympic Swim Team use this, so you know it’s the real deal.

As far as skin goes, getting too much sun can end up in a nasty sunburn.  Sunburns damage the cells on your body and even worse, on your face.  The perfect solution to help cool the burn is aloe.  You can find aloe almost anywhere, but finding aloe for your face is tricky.  If you’re like me, you’ll need something that’s good on sensitive skin.  Clinique’s “After-Sun Rescue Balm with Aloe” is oil-free and calms sun-exposed skin.  To help your cracked lips, try either EOS or Burt’s Bees’ Conditioning Balm.  Both products will soothe the burning feeling and repair the damage in your lips.Chelsea Crockett - Repair Summer Damage

How to Wear Silver and Gold Jewelry

Hi Girls,

Necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are the ultimate accessory to any outfit!  They dress up any outfit and take it to the next level.  When it comes to adding these items to your look, do you pick silver or gold?  I’ll take you through a guide to picking out the perfect metallic shade for your jewelry!Chelsea Crockett-gold jewelry

Gold jewelry looks great with deep colored tones.  Pair gold jewelry with ruby reds, plum purples, and forest greens.  These deep colors will allow the gold to really pop in the jewelry creating a statement piece!  Cream and royal blue also a great colors to pair with gold.

Silver jewelry can be perfectly paired with pastels and soft colors.  Silver jewelry is softer than gold jewelry, so these light shades would be over powered by the gold jewelry.  You never want your outfit to look “off”.  Adding the silver jewelry to a light colored outfit will keep your look soft, but with added sparkle!  Black and white are very special colors.  They are completely universal and go great with both silver and gold jewelry!  If you’re wearing black, pick your jewelry based on your mood.  Are you feeling rock and roll or soft and pretty?  Whatever look you’re going for, silver and gold jewelry will forever accessorize any style.

              Love,

                    Chelsea

Hi Insiders,

With school already here, fall is quickly approaching!  Trends are rapidly changing from season to season, and an awesome item for your closet this fall is a vest.  This versatile item can be dressed up and down, and not only make you look like a fashionista, but keep you warm as well.  Check out these chic outfit ideas for adding a vest to your wardrobe.

Chelsea Crockett- North Face Vest A vest can be considered sporty or sleek depending on what type of vest you buy.  Different styles of vests include puffy vests, fleece vests, and fashion vests.  Puffy and fleece vests are usually considered sporty and look great paired with leggings, a sweater, and boots!  This is a great look for a casual football game or a Friday night bonfire.  Another sporty way to rock a fleece or puffy vest is to wear it over a pullover.  It’s a very athletic look that is great for outdoor activities like hiking and biking.  A great place to purchase a fleece or puffy vest is an athletic store or outdoor store like The North Face or the Alpine Shop.  Both of these looks are casual enough for school and sporty enough for energetic outdoor fun!

A fashion vest is usually a super sleek vest with fancy zippers, pockets, and details.  A great place to find a fashion vest is J. Crew.  If you have an outlet mall near you, you may have a J. Crew Factory where these vests can be purchased for much cheaper!  These vests look great with a plaid button up, jeans, and boots!  These vests can also be paired with jewelry, so don’t be afraid to add a fun necklace or a statement watch.  It’s a dressier way to wear a vest!  Adding a fun printed sweater and thick infinity scarf can give your fashion vest a Chelsea Crockett- fashion vestwhole new look!  I encourage you to add a vest to your fall wardrobe.  Let me know below how you rock your vest!  Have fun with it!

Hey ladies!  One of the newest and hottest trends of the season are maxi dresses and skirts.  They seemed to have spread throughout teens and slowly replaced sundresses and short skirts. Chelsea Crockett - Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are super fashionable and can be dressed up or dressed down.  Even just a day at the mall is perfect for throwing on your favorite maxi dress.  You can pair your dress with heels, wedges, or, to make it a little more casual, flats.  My favorite places to shop for maxis are Francesca’s Collections, Charlotte Russe, and, of course, Forever 21.  The best thing about shopping at these places is that they’re very affordable but still extremely cute.

Another hot trend that I’ve, yet again, seen almost everywhere is maxi skirts.  They’re very similar to maxi dresses, but you can match it with a crop top or another cute shirt!  My favorite way to wear these are with a chunky necklace and a crop top to add to my skirt!

Hey Insiders,

If you have your license or know someone who has their license, listen up!  Texting and driving is a HUGE issue.  Between commercials, TV programs, and billboards on every highway, texting and driving has been addressed almost everywhere!  It’s a serious problem all around, and teens and adults alike need to take the pledge never to text and drive.  This year, the Teen Choice Awards really encouraged teens to take the pledge to stop texting and driving.  Watching this program really made me think.  Is your text really that important?  Can’t it wait until you arrive at your destination?  Sometimes, sending a text while driving can be a life or death situation.  Is your text worth your life, or possibly someone else’s life?  I hope not!  They can all wait!  Check out the website below for heart breaking stories and testimonies, and take the pledge to never text and drive!Chelsea Crockett- texting and driving  #itcanwait

Hi Insiders,

If you live with a male at your house, like your dad or brother, you may notice a few items of clothing that resemble items in your closet!  Funny, right?  Back in the day, girls used to only wear dresses, but as time went by, women started wearing as they please…even clothes that resembled a man’s!  A few style staples today may resemble a man’s business attire, but they show the power of women!  Check out a few of these masculine items with a feminine flare.   Chelsea Crockett - Blazer

  • Blazer: A blazer is an item that has become a fashion icon.  They are so easy to throw on with a white tee and a pair of jeans to dress up the look, or to wear with a dress or skirt for a more professional look.  To make a blazer more girly, add a fun broach for a little “bling” or pair with a really feminine outfit.
  • Over-sized men’s t-shirts:  This year it’s been all about the street style, “grungy” look.  An over-sized tee is so easy to throw on with a pair of skinny jeans and hit the road!
  • Neck scarf: Comparable to a man’s’ tie, a neck scarf can add a pop of color to any look!  Wear it like a scarf or tie it in a pretty bow for a fun accent.
  • Oxford shoes: Celebrities like Taylor Swift are all for a good pair of Oxford shoes.  They are a timeless look that looks great paired with jeans or a fun nautical look.  They give any girly look a slight masculine flare.

Next time you get dressed up for an event, check out what the men are wearing.  Maybe you can come up with a masculine look with a girly twist!

Hey girlies!  L’Oreal is one of my favorite hair and makeup brands with its great quality and awesome products.  They’ve been in business for years, but I’ve just recently heard about their “Total Repair 5” hair treatment.

For full effect, it includes a shampoo, conditioner, and damage-erasing balm.  Even just the shampoo itself gives you already noticeable soft hair.  Each product in the treatment contains ceramide which is a type of lipid that benefits your hair.  Whenever you use a certain product that contains ceramide, it restores the natural properties of your hair, making it smoother and softer.  Without ceramide, your hair would be damaged and dry.

Both the shampoo and conditioner worChelsea Crockett - Damage Erasing Balmk amazing, but the damage-erasing balm is where most of the magic happens.  It instantly repairs the five signs of damage: 1.Split Ends 2.Weak 3.Rough 4.Full 5.Dehydrated.  While you’re in the shower, all you have to do is message it through your hair and let it sit for 3-5 minutes.  It’s as simple as that!

Another product of the series is the Multi-Restorative Dry Oil.  This is a daily leave-in treatment that works continuously throughout the day.  Apply this oil to damp hair and style your hair as you usually would.  This will make your hair shine and tame those unwanted flyaways!

Good luck with those luscious locks!Wink

College Students: Budgeting

Hi Insiders,             Now I know a lot of my followers aren’t in college, but for those who are or are starting, here’s a guide to budgeting during your college…

Hi Insiders,

Now I know a lot of my followers aren’t in college, but for those who are or are starting, here’s a guide to budgeting during your college years.  It’s easy to spend your money quickly when you go out with friends or at school events, but trust me saving up will pay off in the long run!  Follow these quick tips and you’ll be on your way to stashing money in no time!Chelsea Crockett- saving money

  1. Try the “pay check” trick!  Whenever you get a pay check, put half of your earnings in your wallet and half in your savings account.  Do this right away!  That way, you can’t spend that money even if you wanted to!
  2. Check out your local businesses!  Most restaurants and shops around a college town offer student discounts.  If you feel like eating out or shopping, check out one of those places.  It’ll save you money and support local businesses.  It’s a win-win situation!  Plus, most of these places are in walking distance, so you don’t have to spend gas money!
  3. Say no to your credit card!  When you go out with friends, withdraw a specific amount of cash.  This will stop you from spending more than you want to.
  4. Be careful with the saying “I’ll pay you back!”  A lot of times, your friends will forget or take a long time to get the money to you.  Be careful!

Whether it’s for a Spring Break trip, Study Abroad, or for your future, saving money is a very important life lesson!

Enjoy college!

Wanna know what the fall 2013 hair trends are? Good, cuz I am about to tell you!

Messy Beach Bun: These buns look effortless and wind-blown! You can achieve this look by sectioning off the hair in front of your head (where your bangs would be) and pulling the rest of your hair up into a ponytail just below the crown. Twist the pony into a bun and secure it with bobby pins. Next, curl the hair in the front loosely and then randomly pin them around the bun in the back.chelsea crockett messy bun

Upside Down French Braid: I am in love with this trend! It is so stinkin cute. It is not as hard as it looks! Just flip your head upside down and start the braid at the nape of your neck. Braid it until you get to your crown. Gather the rest of your hair and combine it all into a ponytail. Wrap the ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins. Viola!upside down french braid chelsea crockett

Braided Headband: This style is so classy! How do you do it? First, part your hair down the middle. Then make a small braid on each ear starting behind each ear. Pull them over each other and pin them tightly against the top of the head.chelsea crockett braided headband

I hope these work for ya!

Hey girls!  I know it’s hard to believe, but fall is only weeks away!  This means it’s almost time to ditch the shorts and tanks for jeans and jackets.  The trends this season are some of my favorites and I want to share them all with you!

As I’ve mentioned in another one of my articles, studs are super trendy and fun for this season!  Chelsea Crockett - Studded OutfitAnything such as shoes, pants, shirts, and accessories always look better with a little shine!  People have gotten really creative and even tried studs on their nails and phone cases!

Prints such as cheetah and snakeskin are yet another thing you’ll see throughout almost any fashion magazine.  Even patterns such as spots or stripes are hot in Hollywood.

Chelsea Crockett - Two Toned Pants Like denim’s not enough, coated denim is a stylish and chic trend.  For those of you that are unsure of what coated denim is, it’s a pair of denim pants that almost have a light shimmer overcoat.  I love these pants because they can be dressed up and can add a little bit of shine to your outfit!

And lastly, two toned clothing is super stylish and highly fashionable.  These pants are extremely cute because you can make them your own by adding fun shoes and accessories!

I hope you all are rocking these trends this upcoming fall!

I am quite the shoe-aholic. I love shoes! Fall 2013 has some killer shoe trends coming our way, and I am going to go over them with you!

Formal: If you are headed to a fancy or formal event, I suggest you reach for a pair of Mary Jane pumps or some wedges. Mary Janes are a very classy, vintage looking shoe! Wedges go with almost anything and give you a little bit of height as well!chelsea crockett wedges

Semi-formal/ Casual: A shoe that I love for any casual occasion is the Oxford shoe. They add a little bit of a vintage feel to any ensemble. Another shoe that I see being very big this fall is the wedge booty. They are super cute and dress your outfit up a bit! They are super versatile!

Every-day Wear: For your every-day shoe, Sperrys or Keds are always a good choice! They are cute, comfortable, and go with almost anything! Taylor Swift even has her own line of Keds that feature super cute patterns.

Hey insiders!  Although I’m mostly a makeup girl, I love, love, love trying out new polishes and designs on my nails.  In my last Buy & Try video, I mentioned a couple nail polishes that I tried out and absolutely adored!  Since school’s almost here, I’m going to suggest a few of the best colors that’ll make you pop this school year.

One of my new favorite brands of nail color is called “Starrily.”  The coolest thing about these polishes is that they are homemade.  Their colors are also super fun, unique, and great quality.  Most of the polishes look like glittery confetti and are very bright and colorful, which I love!  If you want more of a simple look, they also carry solid polishes that are just as cute.Chelsea Crockett - Starrily Nail Polishes

A really big trend of the summer has been bold, colorful nails.  I’ve seen many celebrities almost everywhere mixing bright pink and blue polishes with a duller look to add a pop to their outfits.  Although it was a summer trend, I think bringing it into the school year is a perfect way to catch peoples’ attention on your first dayWink!

And of course, you can’t forget the naturals.  Grays, tans, and whites are a timeless trend when it comes to nails.  Adding a topcoat of shimmer or sparkles will still give you that fun look you want but at the same time, it keeps it simple.  Enjoy!

DO:  Reach for eye catching outerwear! Use it to make a statement! Don’t be afraid to try different colors, textures, or lengths. When rocking a bold jacket, make sure to keep the rest of your outfit simple.

DON’T: Bail on the peplum just yet! If you haven’t already hopped on this trend train, I suggest you do! Find the right peplum for you, whether it is placed on a dress, shirt, or skirt. Don’t underestimate how flattering peplums can be! They define your waist and give you added curv

DON’T: Shy away from layering! Add some oomf to your outfit by piling on a few extra pieces! But make sure not to go crazy and mix too many colors or patterns when layering. An ensemble with many pieces should flow! breasted jackets are going to be the go-to fashion statement!

According to Glamour magazine, full skirts are coming back, and I cannot help but agree! Full skirts are a classic fashion statement.

Wearing a full skirt makes you look like you have an itty bitty waist! How? The skirt is fitted closely around the waist and then flairs out as it comes to your knees. Full skirts are almost universally flattering because they define the waist, and make it seem small by comparison. They also give you a classic, vintage look. Full skirts never really went out of style, they were just pushed to the side to make room for newer styles such as the pencil

chelsea crockett full skirt

skirt. Full skirts give you a feminine, romantic feel. They are also super fun to wear because they swish and sway when you walk! When I am wearing a full skirt I like to spin around and feel the skirt fly around me. When wearing a full skirt, if it was made with a

plain fabric, pair it with a patterned blouse! Add some chunky statement jewelry and some retro sunglasses and you will rock the look!

Looking for a vintage, classic, flattering look? Try on a full skirt, you will fall in love just like I did!
