Swimming at the pool or beach is all fun and games most of the time.  But those long days in the water can sometimes pose a problem to your hair and skin.  I found some tips that are super beneficial to recover from a day at the pool.  There are many swim fixes that can make your summer much more enjoyable and worry-free!

As teenage girls, most of us like to shave our legs, armpits, and sometimes our bikini lines.  Sometimes we end up with the much dreaded razor burns and bumps.  Chelsea Crockett - SunBum Hair SunscreenFor these, they can be relieved with a little aloe vera and lotion.  To prevent them from coming back, wait a few days before shaving over the area again.  This will stop the bumps from getting irritated and flaring up.

Sometimes day’s spent in the water can put your hair and skin in chlorine overload.  It’s known for drying out the moisture in your skin.  In order to hydrate it, rub raw coconut oil on your skin a couple times a day.  This should help restore any missing moisture that was taken!  As far as hair goes, being in the sun can lighten it dramatically, especially if you dye it.  There are many brands that actually sell hair sunscreen that protect your locks from sun damage!  Just spray it on and you’re set for the day!

I hope these make you less worrisome when it comes to long days of water exposure.  Do you have any extra tips that work for you?  Let me know insiders! 🙂

Sleeping makes up a large part of our day. Teenagers are supposed to get a recommended 7-9 hours of sleep a night… That’s a long time if you think about it so why waste it? Acne can be improved over night using certain ingredients and products. Make use of your time and treat your skin while you sleep using these simple tips :)!Chelsea Crockett - Spot Treatment

  • Spot treatments are good for drying up breakouts and acne overnight. Apply it carefully so the rest of your skin stays moisturized and hydrated! You can find these for a cheaper price at most local drugstores like the Neutrogena one on the right. I promise you these are worth it!
  • Instead of actually buying a spot treatment, use aloe vera to calm down your skin! The reason your skin is breaking out is because it’s swelling and becoming inflamed. Aloe vera soothes your skin and reduces redness. Apply it on your acne before you go to sleep and let it work its magic!
  • Of course, we’ve all heard of the toothpaste trick. Apply a white toothpaste (not a gel) to your acne or pimple to dry it out while you sleep.
  • Eggs aren’t just for eating. You can use egg whites by whisking them and applying the ingredient to your irritated area. You can even use them for reducing acne scarring! It’s a two in one solution!

I hope this helps you out! – Chelsea

Being tan is something I always set on my summer goal list. But being tan requires hours and hours out in the hot sun! We know that 90% of the time that leads to an unwelcomed sunburn covering us head to toe, yikes! I’ve seen many articles and websites telling readers how to prevent sunburns, but we know the reality is they can’t always be avoided! Here are a few suggestions on how you can soothe your annoying burn!Chelsea Crockett - Aloe Vera

  • I’ll start off with stating the obvious, Aloe Vera! Aloe is perfect for alleviating sunburn pain. You can find it in lotions, gels, etc. almost anywhere.  My favorite is Banana Boat’s Aloe After Sun gel.  Click here to check it out!
  • What is something that is free and can be found right in your home? Drinking a lot of water is advice I give for almost anything :)! The sun quickly dehydrates your body and skin, leading to burns. Drinking a few glasses of water helps heal and replenish the damaged skin.
  • Green tea should always be available for use at your house! Even if you don’t drink tea, it has so many other health benefits. Brew up some green tea and let it cool. Then, soak a cloth in it and apply to your burned areas!
  • Ever thought about using potatoes for benefits besides eating? Not only potatoes, but cucumbers too, work like magic when dealing with sunburns. By applying a slice or two, it should reduce the swelling and help cool the burn.

Good luck this summer :)! XOXO – Chels
