“Whenever I say Your Name, let the devil know not today.”

This is a line from one of my recent favorite songs by the band “Hillsong”. If you spend any time browsing social media, then you’ve probably seen memes featuring the phrase “not today Satan”, and although it is a saying that we easily throw around, it has some real depth.

The devil speaks lies, doubt and fear into our lives in many forms. He uses our weaknesses and weak spots to weasel his way in to our minds. His voice tells us that we are not good enough, not lovable, not important, and makes us feel as though we have to be in control all the time and think selfishly. This voice steals us of our composure and levelheaded-ness and tempts us into making bad or destructive decisions.

We have to fight back and tell Satan “not today.” So, how do we do this? First, you must avoid his line of fire. Do your best to avoid situations that leave your weak spots vulnerable. When you begin to see these coming, pivot out of their way. If it is a person that, whenever you are with them, you always seem to find yourself in less-than-optimal situations, stay away from them. If the daily news headlines send you into a spiral, take a break from reading them for a while. If social media wears you down and takes you to a negative place, put it away for a bit.

Another way to put Satan in his place is to walk closely with the Lord and tell him “no” to his face. Philippians teaches us “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Stay positive and let negativity roll off your back. The devil has no place in the light. Telling Satan “no” is as easy as it sounds. Tell him that he will not have any role in your life, and to get lost. Just like Jesus said in the book of Matthew, say “Get behind me, Satan!”

Today, let the devil know he has not place in your life. Not today, Satan!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

To summarize, to pray is to let go and let God take over. I know this is easy to say and way harder to put into actual practice. There are times in our lives when the bills are piling up, our email inboxes are overflowing, we are injured and cant exercise or play the sport we love, our faith feels as though it is getting further and further from us, you wonder if you are secure at your job, and so many more situations that can arise. Feelings of doubt, worry, anxiety, and stress bubble up. Life’s trials are immeasurable, but so is God’s goodness.

One of the best mental health exercises I have adapted in times like I mentioned above is to think to myself “Do these emotions serve any positive purpose in my life?” The answer is no more often than not. It is in those moments that I have to consciously decide to let go of them and breathe. You come to a point in life where you have done everything you can do, and the rest is out of your control. You have to completely surrender to the Lord. Losing sleep and getting sick with worry is not worth it – especially when Philippians 4:6-7 tells us that, when we give everything to God, he will strengthen and sustain you. The Bible is full of God’s promises to us – He gives us direction and advice on how to handle what life throws at us.

Remember in these times that the Lord is working behind the scenes in your life. We just need to pray to Him and make our requests known. Stressed? Pray. Worried? Pray. Focus on the Lord instead of your problems, and suddenly your woes seem much smaller. I pray that this message is both a friendly reminder and an encouragement for you all at the same time!

Give it to God and Go to Bed

“When I go to bed, I sleep in peace, because, Lord, you keep me safe. Psalm 4:8”

Do your worries keep you up at night? Going to bed worried is one of the worst feelings. Letting go of things is hard and putting your anxious thoughts aside can feel impossible. Worrying about the future, about finances, friendships, things that you did wrong and things that you could do better, all of these things threaten to rob us of sleep.

A great piece of advice that I was given is to “Give it to God and go to bed.” Every morning God gives you a new day, He allows the sun to shine, and He holds the world in His hands. God does everything for a purpose, and if He can run the world and knows all the hairs on your head, so He can definitely handle anything going on in your life. I struggle with anxious thoughts. My mind can get away from me and start to run wild. I just have to remind myself that He has never failed me before. God won’t fail you if you seek Him first.

Even if you aren’t going through a tough time, every day life brings enough “storms” of its own. Worry affects every part of your life and is not healthy. Worry drains you of energy, happiness, and even drains your time. What is keeping you up at night is what is important to you. But, a lot of times, those are things beyond your control.

As Christians we can have faith that God wants the best for us, His children. We might not know what His plan is or what it looks like exactly, but He says that someday it will be clear to us and it will bring us good, not do us harm. It is hard to trust in what we cannot see, but that is what we have to do. Don’t let your worry consume you or back you into a corner, and most of all, don’t let it steal your precious zzz’s.

Let’s face it, we all need to be told to give it to God and go to bed.

Life Lessons From 1 Thessalonians 5:11

To me, one of the best things you can do for your friends and family to show them you love them and care for them is to build them up. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says “Encourage each other and build each other up.”

This is such an important thing to have in life – people who will build you up and encourage you. And it is an important personality trait for us to have ourselves. People like to be around people who are positive and make them feel good about themselves and supported. Life is so much better when you feel like you have a support system and people that believe in you and encourage you to be successful. Be that person for someone else. Be that person that builds others up and encourages them. People will be drawn to you and will want to be around you! It is so energizing to be around positive people.

I have been trying to share tons of encouragement over my social media to try and encourage and build YOU all up. I want to be that person for you, and I pray that you would be that person for someone else.

“That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ’s sake, for when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10 is a tough verse to swallow.

Weakness, insults, hardships, persecutions and difficulties do not sound like things that I take pleasure in. In fact, those are things that most of us do our very best to avoid. But, these are things that keep us humble. They are also things that help us appreciate the good times that God has provided us and the joy that is ahead in our futures. Some of the most joy-filled people I know have gone through incredibly tough times. They got through them by relying on God’s wisdom and trusting in His plan, and they came out of the hardship stronger than they were before. Getting through hard times is all about our mindset. If you look at those times as opportunities to become stronger both in your faith and in other areas of your life, then those weaknesses become your strength.

The weaker I get, the stronger I become.

When all else fails, God doesn’t. That’s what Psalm 73:26 tells us. “My flesh may fail, but God is the strength of my heart; He is mine forever”

It is inevitable. People will fail you. They will disappoint you. Your body will get sick and your mind will make you doubt yourself. This life is tough! But that’s why God gave us the Bible, so that we can read it and be encouraged. He reminds us that when all else fails, when we are discouraged and feel helpless, God won’t fail us. He is our strength. He is with us forever. How awesome is that? We will fail a lot in this life. What’s important is that we put our Faith and Trust in God because He will never fail.

Don’t let your failures define you, because the one that made you never makes mistakes. You are the way you are because He made you that way! You are perfect in His sight.

“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” I love this verse from 1 John 3:18. It speaks about how we should love others.

How do you express love to others? Do you tell them or do you show them? As the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words, and that is exactly what this verse explains. Your actions and how you show people you love and care about them express a lot more than the words you say. Showing someone you love them may mean sacrificing your time to be with them. It may mean helping them out with something or going somewhere to support them. Showing others we love them is so important because it helps us build a relationship with them. I know I feel loved when my family and friends come to events that I am performing or speaking at, or when I am having a bad day and they come hang out with me.

So, let’s all try our best to show love to others with our actions, because there is no better way to show them you care.

During this season of life, I have been looking up encouraging Bible verses to prepare both my heart and my mind for the trials and hard times. One verse that has calmed my anxious heart is Psalm 139:5, which says “ You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.”

To me, this verse says that there is no need to worry about the future. God has gone before you and prepared the way for you. He already knows your future and what it holds, so there is no reason for YOU to fret about it. He has looked into the future and has seen the trials you will have, and he is preparing you for them right now. He places his hand of blessing on your head, which is a comfort to know. He has blessed you greatly and will continue to do so! Not only does God go before you, but He also follows you wherever you go. You are not alone, He is with you! When you feel nervous or anxious, just remember that whatever you are going through is in God’s plan.

God has blessed you in so many ways! Have comfort in knowing that he has gone before you and prepared a way for you!

Life Lessons from 2 Corinthians 4:18

2 Corinthians 4:18 says “So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what
is unseen is eternal.”2 corinthians

This verse speaks directly to today’s “see it to believe it” culture. We focus on looks, success, money, fame, popularity, all sorts of temporary lifely pleasures. The Bible tells us to focus what on what is unseen rather than what is seen. It tells us to focus on our faith, our friendships, our relationship with God, and other things that are not temporary but are everlasting. What is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. God wants us to focus on what matters most in life and what will bring us the most joy and fulfillment, which is a relationship with Him, not more clothing or popularity.

Focus on what is unseen, for the temporary things in life are, well, temporary! God’s love never ends.

These days everybody has an opinion on how you should live your life. The only opinion that matters in MY life is that of the Lord. Psalm 37:5 says “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act.” What does this verse mean?m

It means that once you commit your life and your “ways” to the Lord, you can trust in Him to guide your life. Once you give your heart to Him and commit to serving Him and living for Him, he will take your future in His hands and mold it into something you cannot even imagine. I can honestly say that giving my heart and my life to God has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Trusting that he has my future in His hands and has plans to help me prosper and thrive is so encouraging. He has already blessed my life with so many wonderful opportunities, and in everything He gives me I try to shine for Him. I have committed my life to Him and trust in His plans, so I know He will continue to guide my life. It may not always be easy to commit to the Lord, but I promise you it is worth it. Nothing good in this life comes easy.

If you do not know Jesus I pray that you would seek Him. He has big plans for you, girl!

Job 18:11 says “Having hope will give you courage.” In this next season in my life, and a lot of your lives if you are high school seniors going into college soon, we will need a lot of courage.

Courage to defend our Faith, courage to do life how we know we should, not how society says we should, and courage to step out in 10024119142837e7645ed6895cded520the adventure that is college. When Job says that having hope will give you courage, I think this means a few things. I think that first, this means that having hope in Jesus and his promise to guide your life and bless you in ways you cannot imagine. And two, I think this means that you need to have hope in the tough times and in the times when it is hard to find hope. Hope will give you courage to move forward.

So, have hope, even in the hard times, because that will give you courage. The world needs more courageous women like you!
