Recently, I’ve been brainstorming how I want my dorm room to look like. I’ve found different decorations and necessities to style my dorm the way I want it. With only so much space in your dorm room, you’re going to need some hacks to make moving in a little easier! You’ll also need some hacks for making your dorm as stylish as it can be, too!

  • Most residence halls at college will allow you to put your beds whatever way you want them. You can bunk them, loft them, or leave them normal. Lofting your bed gives you a whole new area of storage under your bed! You can put your clothes in plastic drawers or bins and store them easily.
  • iPhone chargers can be hard to tell apart, especially if you’re living with a few roommates. Customize yours by adding colorful tape or simply writing your initials on it so you don’t lose it!Chelsea Crockett - Dorm Hanger Hack
  • Dropdown hangers allow you to store your shirts and dresses much easier. The picture on the right shows you just how much space they can save!
  • For storing your jewelry, purchase a cork board that you can decorate to match your dorm room. After hanging it on the wall, you can use tacks to hang all of your necklaces! It works perfectly!

I hope these make your dorm experience a little easier! (I’ll definitely be using some of these myself!) 🙂

Adidas has always been known as a sporty, workout brand offering lots of different exercise attire. Recently, people on Tumblr, Instagram, and other social medias have broadcasted the fashionable, street-style side of Adidas. Most either know one side or the other, so here’s a little insight on both sides of the brand!

Let’s start with the side Adidas is known for. Ever since 1949, Adidas has been creating workout and exercise clothing for decades. If you waChelsea Crockett - Adidasnt a pair of shoes, Adidas has anything from soccer to basketball to running shoes. As far as apparel goes, tanks, leggings, shorts, etc. are patterned and unique.

Considering the fashionable side of Adidas, the picture above and to the left are perfect examples of stylish Adidas attire! Retro sweatshirts, t-shirts, and especially jackets are the new trend. They even offer retro-styled shoes that are spreading throughout social media. Pacsun and other stores even sell shirts and other clothing with the Adidas logo, so check it out! This is a perfect example of “street style” which is comfy but trendy. (What’s better than that?)

Let me know below which side of the Adidas brand you like better!

The rustic theme and aesthetic has become a popular trend when it comes to decorating. Items and décor that give off an antique feel are popping up in almost every home or décor store. If you’re not into the whole rustic theme, you can make this DIY sleeker and more fashionable, whatever you prefer!

First off, you’ll need to find a spot in your room that gives you enough space to put your rack. Second, you’ll need to pick out your rack! Chelsea Crockett - Clothing RackThere are plenty to choose from based on color, texture, etc. Some you can even buy with the “worn” look that gives it more of an antique feel. Although most of your bedrooms probably have closets, you can make your own rack for decoration! You can even choose what type of clothing you’ll hang on it. The example on the left uses it for jackets and coats… whatever you want to do!

Another fun part of creating the “look” for your rack is what type of hangers you use. I would prefer matching my hangers with the theme or colors of my room. Your rack will look much more put together when you make it look like a piece of your room. I suggest storing your shoes or purses under the rack where there’s extra room. It keeps your clothing organized and makes your room cuter, too :)!

Let me know how you design yours!

I recently bought a suede dress from Target, and that is when my love for suede fashion was born. There are so many different ways to wear suede this winter, whether it is in dress, skirt, jacket, handbag, or even shoe form! Suede is a sort of retro fabric that can make any outfit feel vintage and chic. Here are my favorite ways to style suede!suede

  1. Skirts: A suede skirt is so versitile. You can wear it casually with tights, flat booties, and a sweater, or you can dress it up with a felt hat and a silky blouse! I love this feminine flare on suede. The same goes for suede dresses. They are effortlessly fashionable. You can also wear it with a button-up long sleeve shirt to make an easy, cute, casual outfit.
  2. Jackets: Want a western flare? Throw on a suede jacket. This will give any outfit a sort of western vibe. It can also spruce up a simple outfit like, say, black jeans and a simple white tee.
  3. Boots: I love a good pair of suede booties. They go with just about anything and come in so many shades! Suede wedges are also a weakness of mine. They are perfect winter accessories!

What is your favorite way to wear suede this season?

Fashion is all about showing off your own style and being confident in it. With monogram fashion, you can take it a step further and personalize your outfit with your initials! I love all of the different things you can get monogrammed and customized. It’s not only inexpensive but a way to customize almost any article of clothing!

First off, let’s start with accessories. You have to have seen at least one monogrammed hat at least once before. They’re so cute and can be made in whatever color you want! Another big trend is monogrammed necklaces. They’re simple, classy, and come in either silver or gold. You can even buy monogrammed phone cases, earrings, and bumper stickers!

Next comes the endless variety of monogram clothing.  Chelsea Crockett - Monogram Rain PulloverWith cold weather approaching, you can order a half-zip fleece pullover, an over-sized long-sleeved t-shirt, or a puffy vest with your initials engraved on it! (If you want the full cold weather proof outfit, get a monogrammed infinity scarf or rain boots!) My favorite piece of clothing that I’ve seen all over Pinterest is a monogrammed rain jacket like the one on the left. You can get a half-zip or a full-zip, whatever you prefer.

There are many different sites that you can now order your personalized items on, but my favorite is Etsy. Their site is reliable and not too expensive, too. Check it out!

The Look for Less: Winter Trends Edition

Don’t get me wrong, stylish coats and designer boots are trendy and popular for the cold months ahead. It’s fun to treat yourself and splurge every once in a while! But of course no one can afford to do that every time they need something for winter. So, I put together a little look for less that lets you find coats, boots, and other seasonal necessities for much less!

First comes first, you’ll need boots for any snow you might encounter this season. Hunter rain boots have been popular in the fashion world for a while now, but their prices can be pretty expensive. Chelsea Crockett - Puffy CoatYou can buy rain boots at Target for less than $40! They sell a wide variety of different styles, colors, and patterns. Some as cheap as $20! If you don’t mind spending a little bit more, DSW also has a great selection.

What’s winter without a warm, puffy coat? Prices on coats too can range pretty high. You may be worried about the quality of inexpensive coats but I’m here to help! Brands such as Michael Kors and Patagonia sell super cute styles of winter coats but finding a decent price can be difficult. Burlington and Target both sell good quality coats for a good price. Also, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Kohl’s sell coats that are marked down to wear they’re actually affordable! Check them out!

Let me know where you find the look for less in the comments below!

Trends and fads come and go. They wouldn’t be called trends if they didn’t! So many styles and looks that make their way into the fashion world often go unnoticed and fly under the radar. I know I’m not the only one that finds a stylish look on Pinterest and thinks, “why have I not tried that?” or “where did that trend go?” Here are a few that shouldn’t be forgotten!

Chelsea Crockett - Turtleneck SweaterWhen someone mentions a turtle neck, we don’t always picture the cutest shirt or sweater. But I’ve found a ton of blog posts that actually rock them and make me want to buy some myself! The top on the left is a perfect example of making a turtleneck stylish and classy (especially with a topknot or high ponytail).

Another stereotypical “don’t” in the fashion world is overalls. They’re actually really fun to wear and can be worn on tons of different occasions! I even rocked a pair on the Fourth of July! I’ve even seen girls go to baseball games and wear overalls with their teams’ colors and it looks so cute!Chelsea Crockett - Fringe Shoes

Fringe is another look that you either love or hate. In my opinion, it can be totally fashionable! I’ve seen tons of magazines feature fringe shoes like the picture on the right. Wearing fringe like that is so underrated! (Side note: they’re also suede material which is another trend that goes unnoticed!)

What trends do you like that go unacknowledged like the ones above? Let me know below!

Does the thought of putting your summer clothes away until next May make you die a little on the inside? You aren’t the only one! Luckily there are ways to incorporate your summer wardrobe into your fall one. Here are a few ways!

  1. Pull on some pants: Layer some pants under your tunics or sundresses to transition them from summer to fall! Play with the proportions and patterns. For example, layer a pleated white tunic with some earth toned leather leggings!4lc6ef-l-610x610-jacket-leather-boho-chic-dress
  2. Layer in a jacket: A moto jacket/ army jacket is great to layer over frilly loose summer tank tops that you definitely wouldn’t be able to wear without a jacket. Plus, the jacket makes the tanks seem less girly, it gives your outfit an edge!
  3. Blazer love: layer a blazer over a sundress for a classy, preppy fall look!
  4. Color craze: Who says fall has to be about monotone colors? Spice it up! Pair summer clolors, like blush, with fall colors like army green to create a dynamic duo!

See? Transitioning from summer to fall isn’t as tragic as it may seem when you can take your fav summer styles with you!

We’ve all heard the saying “less is more.” It’s the key to high fashion and putting together a chic, stylish look. It’s hard to get the perfect balance when putting together a simple minimal look, but it’s possible with a little help :).Chelsea Crockett - Minimal Outfit

Most girls struggle between wanting to pull off a look like this without looking too plain. It’s not as hard as you think! There are only a couple pointers that you’ll have to follow. First, you’ll have to wear neutral colors such as white, tan, black, nude, etc. Make sure it’s a solid color without any bright or neon shades.

Next, you’ll need some clean cut articles of clothing. Pieces such as blazers are a sharp effect that makes your outfit look elegant and put together. The outfit on the right is one of my favorite examples of this. How cute is that? It may not be your style, but if you like it, it’s pretty easy to pull off!

You might read on other fashion blogs that too many accessories are an absolute no, but that’s not always the case. Yes, chunky bright bracelets aren’t going to go too well with a simple, neutral outfit, but you can always accessorize when it comes to fashion. The best way to do so is with silver and gold jewelry. A neutral watch with a small diamond necklace and studs is how I prefer to accessorize when it comes to this type of outfit.

I hope this gave you some tips next time you want to rock a look like this!

If you follow me on any social media accounts, you’ve probably noticed that I travel a lot!  Although I hit up the airport quite frequently, it’s easy to forget about all the rules and regulations, or leave an important item at home.  I recently came across some great airport hacks that I turned into a list to keep me on track during all my ventures.  Keep these amazing hacks in mind during your next airport adventure! Chelsea Crockett- airport bag for liquids

  • Many airports have started requiring small zip lock bags to hold all of your carry-on liquids. Keep multiple baggies in your purse and carry-on for the future!  I’ve forgotten this step many times!
  • I always get thirsty on a plane, but don’t feel like buying a $7.00 water bottle! Throw an empty water bottle into your carry on and fill it up when you see a water fountain.  If you’re a frequent traveler like me, you’ll save lots of money!
  • Bring your own snack! If they aren’t already opened, they’re good to go!
  • In the winter I always worry about my luggage being overweight, since winter clothes are so much heavier! Wear your heaviest items, like a big coat, tall boats, and jeans on the plane!  This way, you’ll save some extra weight for a little shopping! 😉 haha.
  • Collect unused toiletries from the hotel. They’re great for carry-ons!
  • Did you know that your birthday, an anniversary, or even traveling alone can give you free perks?! Just let someone working for the airlines know and you may get upgraded, get a free snack, or get a little gift.  It’s worth a try!
  • If you’re flying into a country without data, download the Google maps offline app so you’re never stranded!
  • Airports are one of the easiest places to catch germs. Keep hand sanitizer or wet wipes on hand!

Happy travels!

Unfortunately it’s that time when I have to start blogging about back-to-school topics (UGH!), but it’s always a necessity to know which trends to rock once school starts up again. Your style is YOUR style, but incorporating different trends into it can be fun!

Shoes are always a fun way to spruce up your look, and this year there’ll be a few trends everyone will be wearing! Last year, some people around school were wearing Chelsea Crockett - ConverseConverse, but over the summer, tons and tons of my friends have hopped on the trend as well! The high top ones are super cute and are fun to wear with boyfriend jeans and a cute shirt! Definitely buy a pair for this school year :).

Certain styles have even made their way back into the picture. Retro styles from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, such as puffy vests, Converse (haha!), and high waisted pants, have all made a comeback. Also, oversized sweaters/shirts and layering cardigans or other articles of clothing is definitely in. Although, where I live it’s still 90 degrees, but I’m sure once fall rolls around, this will start popping up everywhere!

Lastly, trends such as graphic tees, boyfriend jeans, floral patterns, denim, and plenty of others will be sure to be seen throughout your school. Let me know below what you’ll be rocking once school starts!

Spring and summer are totally wedding season, and they are knocking at our door! Believe it or not, some of us will be on Spring Break at this time next month! Crazy, right? Anyway, like I was saying, wedding season is almost here, which means you need some wedding wear rules to follow. Here they are:

  1. Never wear white to a wedding…EVER: Don’t even wear ivory or champagne, it is too close for comfort to white! Save What-to-wear-fall-wedding-2013your white dresses for other spring and summer gatherings and let the bride stand out in her dazzling white dress.
  2. Keep it classy: Showing too much skin is a major no-no. No matter how great your legs are looking, you want to keep the attention on the bride, not your toned tush. That being said, you can wear something that flatters your figure! Just don’t go overboard.
  3. Better to overdress than underdress: Flip flops= not okay! You will have plenty of opportunities to wear your favorite plastic Old Navy flip flops and comfy cutoffs this spring and summer, so keep them away from weddings! Also, jeans and tank tops are a definite “no.”
  4. Be confident: Although it is not “your day,” that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the heck out of it!

I just love weddings, don’t you?

How to Cleanse your Wardrobe

We’ve all heard of detox cleanses, hair cleanses, even juice cleanses! But, have you ever heard of a wardrobe cleanse? Yes, ladies. Even your wardrobe could use a little detoxing. Here is how to give your closet a healthy little cleanse.

  1. Think about it: Ask yourself these questions when going through your clothes:cool-old-clothes-floor
  • Is it comfortable?
  • Does it fit right?
  • Is it damaged?
  • Do I really like it?

If you said “well…no…” to any of the questions above, you know what you need to do.

  1. Watch your wallet: Just because you are getting rid of clothes doesn’t mean you get to go out and buy a whole bunch more to replace them! This process is mean to “trim the fat” in your wardrobe and weed out the clothes you really don’t want/need.
  2. Discover your style: As you get older and become more aware of what looks good on you and what styles you are drawn to, you tend to buy more items that fit into that style. When you know what your “style” is, you are able to get rid of items you know aren’t really “you.”
  3. Consolidate: Now that you have purged your closet, clean ‘er up! I like to organize my shirts so they are sorted by color. That is just one of the ways I keep my closet orderly, and it helps me feel less cluttered and I am able to find things easier!

Now, ladies, get to detoxing

2014 was a year full of fun, stylish trends. Whether it was a crop set outfit with a pair of knee-high boots or edgy DIY shorts and converse, this year’s trends are sure to top even the cutest of 2014. So, what’s going to be hot (or not!) in the New Year? Here are a few predictions made by fashion magazines and icons across the planet!

Chelsea Crockett - Suede JacketAccording to Vogue, suede should be making a killer comeback! This material is different from most, with its warm, fuzzy cloth. It has a vintage look to it that’s classy and mature like the jacket on the left! Another look that is expected to pop up in the spring, is dark denim. Jean, jean, and more jean! Keep an eye out and you might just notice it in every fashion magazine :)!

Indy style was huge last year. Now the Bohemian style is making its mark! Colorful patterns and bright colors are great for the summer. Layering jewelry such as dangle necklaces and bracelets is another fashion statement brought from 2014 to ’15. So cute!

According to Glamour, one-shoulder shirts and dresses are coming back into the fashion world for spring and summer. Soon they’ll be in almost any store at the mall :)! Colors such as army green and yellow are both expected to be seen on the runways throughout the year.

So… pay attention to your fashion magazines and style blogs and you might just see these trends when you least expect it!

Winter is in the air, you can feel it!  Where I live, the temperature’s dropping very quickly this season!  One day it’s 55 degrees and the next it’s 20!  I’m always looking for sporty, stylish clothes to keep me warm while I enjoy winter sports like running or ice skating.  Some of my favorite winter brands are Patagonia, The North Face, and Columbia.Chelsea Crockett - Patagonia

These brands offer cute styles of jackets that are form fitting and keep you warm and dry.  The coats are compressible for packing for a snow ski trip and lightweight for just hanging with friends around an open fire.  Many of their styles have removable or adjustable hoods.  The quality of these brands are exceptional.  Their outer shells are often insulated, breathable, waterproof, and most of all….super fashionable!  The choices are endless.

Boots, pants, gloves, hats, etc. are all offered from these companies.  You can’t go wrong with the combination of warmth plus style!  Whatever your sport may be, you will be pleased with the durability and protection needed for outdoor fun.

If you’re into snow skiing or snowboarding, these three brands are 100% the way to go. They have the perfect clothing for you to gear up against the cold (and look cute doing it!). These brands are also perfect for a Christmas gift. Grab a gift card, or a couple cute accessories and you’re set! Who wouldn’t love that?  Check out these brands below!

Happy winter! – Chelsea
