Thrifting is the perfect pastime.  It’s cheap, fun, and can bring out your creative side if you let it!  Many of your favorite looks can be recreated if you simply go to a thrift store with an open mind and a little creativity!  Here are 5 steps to master the art of thrifting. 🙂

  1. Be openminded. Chelsea Crockett - DIY High Waisted Shorts You will come across many interesting outfits, shirts, shoes, etc. (to say the least).  Maybe try on a few things that you think you’d never ever wear.  It may turn out to be your new favorite shirt!
  2. Be creative.  Think about how you can take one piece of clothing and turn it into a completely new creation.  There are so many DIY looks that you can create right in your room!  (If you don’t have a creative bone in your body, Pinterest is the perfect place to find some inspiration!)
  3. Think retro.  One of my favorite looks is DIY high waisted shorts.  Take a fun pair of mom jeans and cut them to the perfect length.  Roll the ends to create the perfect 70’s look like the picture on the right!  My friends and I have all done this and they’re so comfy!
  4. Go with friends.  Everything is more fun when you’re with your girls right?  Grab some of your friends and make a day out of it.  A second opinion always helps when shopping!
  5. Don’t go with a game plan.  If you go with a specific piece of clothing in mind, you might pass by tons of other things that may end up creating the perfect look!

For Valentine’s Day this year, why not stray away from the typical “dinner and a movie” and come up with something more creative to do?  If you think outside the box, you and your date can have a memorable Valentine’s Day that’s just as fun and romantic. 🙂 If you’re not the most creative person in the world, here are some ideas for your day/night!

  • If you really want to get creative, create a scavenger hunt for your boyfriend with little gifts and treats at each spot.  You can make this as fun as you want!
  • Instead of going out to eat, stay in and cook a dinner you both love!  Not only is it cheaper than going to an expensive restaurant, but it’s super fun to cook up a meal with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Chelsea Crockett - Hot Chocolate
  • Sometimes morning dates are even better than night dates!  Meet for coffee or brunch at your fave spot.
  • Picnics aren’t just for summer!  Bundle up and find the perfect spot to lay down a blanket and make a date out of it.  Bring lots of hot chocolate and blankets and maybe even your gifts to exchange if you decide to buy for each other, too.
  • Become a tourist of your own city for a day!  Whether you live near a big city or not, grab some money and a camera and go places you’ve never been before.

What are your plans this Valentine’s Day?  Let me know below if you use one of these unique date ideas!

Do you love to travel? I love being able to tell people all of the places I’ve been! I love to document my travels with photos. It allows me to look back at all of the fun I’ve had and all of the cool things I have seen! I found a really cool way to document and display all of your travels. All you need is a giant map!

chelsea crockett photo map

The first thing you need for this project is a giant map! What you are going to do is cut pictures out in the shape of the places you have visited and glue them to the map! So, go through your pictures from all of your travels and pic out your favorite from each place. Once you have chosen one photo from each place you have been, print them out pretty big. You can print them out on your computer or take them to Walgreens and have them blown up. Whatever you choose! Then, cut the pictures in the shape of the state they were taken in. You may need to trace the shape onto the picture so it is easier. Then paste the pictures on the map. Hang your picture map where people can see it and you can tell them all about your travels! Not only is it a great conversation starter, but it is also a great way to preserve your memories!

Make Adorable Fall Decorations!

Are you into the “rustic” look? Do you want to make your house look a little more like fall? Are you looking for some simple Thanksgiving decorations? Then read on! Today I am going to teach you how to make some classy, rustic decorations that will spruce up any Thanksgiving décor. If you are artsy or crafty, then you will love this fall themed DIY. It is super easy and practically free!

What you will need:

–          A glass container of some sort. You can even use the old glass from a candle.

–          Any kind of twigs or sticks. Go to your back yard or a park and collect sticks of any shape or size.7adbb978e7e47463f323e766f3b987af

Make sure that your glass container is clean and dry, or the glue will not stick. Cut the sticks so they are at assorted lengths. You can clean the sticks a bit so that the dirt doesn’t keep the twigs from sticking to the glue. Use hot glue to stick the twigs to the glass in a vertical fashion. Alternate the twig lengths and sizes so that it looks more natural. Once you have finished, you can use the decorations as candle holders, or you can just set them around your house to give it a more rustic, fall themed.

Happy fall!
