Denim is a timeless trend that I don’t see going away anytime soon.  That being said, denim jackets in particular are one of the biggest trends this season!  There are tons of different kinds to fit your preferred look and style.  Here are 3 different jackets you can pick from that are trendy, comfy, and stylish!

  • Distressed Denim.Chelsea Crockett - Denim Jacket This look is one of the more basic jackets that goes with almost any outfit.  You can throw it on to run some errands or dress it up to wear for a night out!  I think it’s a statement article of clothing that every wardrobe needs to have!
  • Acid Wash Denim. If you want to put a spin on your denim jacket, try acid wash!  This jacket has a grunge feel to it that gives off an edgy vibe.  Wear it with a pair of black ripped jeans and sneakers to create the perfect street look.  And again, you can dress it up or dress it down!
  • Embroidered Denim. This jacket has a more feminine look to it than the others.  You can find embroidered denim jackets with all different types of floral patterns and designs.  This is a fun way to change up your denim look and make it even more stylish!

I like to stay up-to-date with the latest trends so I know what’re the next most fashionable and stylish things I should have in my closet!  This upcoming winter, there are a few different trends that I think stand out among the rest, and are so, so cute!  Here are a few trends you’ll need to take note of for the next few months! 🙂

  • Double Denim. Chelsea Crockett - Denim on Denim Denim is one of my favorite things to rock, whether it be a denim jacket, boyfriend jeans, a denim dress, etc.  It’s a timeless trend that has been around for decades, and now you can rock denim times two!  🙂
  • Knit.  When I think of knit, I think of bundling up in a knit sweater during the cold months!  This winter, knit sweaters, ponchos, cardigans, etc. are going to be the perfect way to keep warm and stay fashionable.
  • Business Casual.  Certain styles and trends allow you to loosen up and dress down which I love, but this winter, business casual looks are coming back into play!  Things like blazers, collared shirts, and toned down colors are making their statement this year.
  • Sportswear.  I love trends that allow me to dress comfy and casual, but still look just as stylish.  Sportswear, or street style, has been in the fashion world for a while, and it’s not going away anytime soon!  Pull out your leggings, sneakers, and a graphic tee, and you’re good to go!

Which trend is your favorite?  Have you heard of any other upcoming winter trends?  Share them with me below! 🙂

I know for a fact that jeans will never go out of style.  They’re timeless and can be worn for almost any occasion.  The best part about jeans is that you can match them with pretty much anything!  There are three trendy jean styles that are making their way into the fashion world this fall that you should try rocking yourself!

  • Tasseled Ends.  Chelsea Crockett - Embroidered JeansI saw a pair of these when I was out shopping and I fell in love!  They usually cut off at the capri length and finish off with tasseled threads.  They’re so cute and perfect for a casual day out with friends!
  • Mom Jeans.  The 90s are back in action ladies!  Mom jeans are usually high waisted and can be rolled at the bottom to complete the look.  You can pair these with a retro top to really rock the 90s style!
  • Slit Hems.  If you want a pair of simple jeans that have a little twist to them, buy a pair of these!  They look like normal jeans until about halfway down your calf where the hems on the side split.  They’re super cute and allow you to switch it up!  (Look at the above picture for example!)
  • Embroidered Denim.  I love embroidered shirts and pants.  They’re both vintage and fashionable.  You can find jeans with embroidered flowers and other designs at certain boutiques or online!

Denim is one of the most versatile textiles in your wardrobe. You can rock it in the fall, winter, spring, summer, it is a year-round fashion statement! Today we are going to focus on springtime denim. There are a few denim clad looks I am rocking this spring that I think you will dig! Here they are!

  1. Frayed ankle jeans: I picked up a pair of these babies at MOD the other day, and I am in love. I love the unique look of having frayed ankles instead of the usual hemmed ones. I like pairing these with ankle booties and a fun flowy top.
  2. Denim babydoll dresses: If you are in search of a way to wear denim that has a feminine flair, look no further! Denim babydoll dresses are the perfect solution. Find one with elbow or long sleeves to keep you warm during chilly spring days, and pair it with a felt floppy hat and suede booties for a super sweet ensemble!
  3. Classic jean jacket: I wear my jean jacket alllll the time. They are so versatile, you can dress them up, dress them down, and everything in between! If you want a nautical, East coast vibe, pair some white jeans with a striped shirt and denim jacket. Easy, effortless, and awfully stylish. Denim jackets even go with dresses!

Have fun dressing up your denim this spring!

Off-the-shoulder style is one of my favorite looks.  It gives off an elegant, feminine vibe that can sometimes be hard to pull off with a simple piece of clothing.  But with off-the-shoulder shirts and dresses, you can put together a classy outfit in seconds!

One of my favorite materials for fall is suede, so pairing it with this style is super cute!  Chelsea Crockett - Suede DressThe dress on the left is a good example of this.  Pairing it with wedged booties, a choker, and a bold lip creates a perfect dressy outfit for fall.  Maybe you have a dinner date or an event that you have to dress up for.  This look is elegant, classy, and can be dressed up or dressed down!

If you want a more casual off-the-shoulder look for fall, another fave outfit of mine is a denim, long-sleeved shirt.  Denim is another one of my favorite fall materials, whether it be a denim jacket, skirt, etc.  It’s an easy color to pair with black jeans and a cute hat!

Apart from suede dresses and denim tops, there are so many different off-the-shoulder looks you can come up with!  A lot of stores will be selling fall-inspired tops so keep an eye out! 🙂

Ever wondered what kind of pants would flatter your body type the best? Look no further! In this article I will explain to you which kind of jeans give you the look you are looking for.

If You Want To: Lengthen your legs

Look for jeans that almost graze the floor, but don’t. Avoid pants that are too long, because they drown girls with smaller silhouettes. Also avoid pants that are cuffed or rolled at the bottoms because they emphasize the shortness of the legs. Aim for the perfect length, which is long, but not too long.flare-cut-jeans chelsea crockett

If You Want To: Create some curves

Pants with zippers or other details at the hips and upper thighs draw the eyes outward and round you out. You also want jeans with detailed back pockets, which give a flat booty a little somethin-somethin. Avoid back pockets that are too large, which overwhelm a smaller butt.

If You Want To: Thin out your thighs

Choose skinny jeans. For real! Just make sure they’re either a dark wash or darker up top than on bottom, like ombre. Avoid jeans that are lighter on top than on bottom. Look for pants that flair out at the bottom, like bell-bottoms, because they counterbalance your prorportions and draw the eye down. Also avoid bleached or faded patches at the thighs, which will make them look larger.

Next time you go shopping for jeans, keep these handy dandy tips in mind!

Which team are you on? Team dark wash jeans or team light wash jeans? I can never decide which is my cup of tea. Both have different ways of wearing them and styling them! Let me give you a little info on both and then you can decide which team you are on!chels light wash jeans

Light wash jeans: This style of jean is the more casual option out of the two. I like the textural effect of fading and just the light color of the jeans. I like wearing dark colored tops with light jeans when I want an outfit with high contrast, and white tops when I want an outfit with low contrast. If you are a casual kind of girl or just need a break from dark denim, then light wash jeans are for you!

Dark wash jeans: Dark wash jeans are dressier than their light wash counterpart. I like to wear dark wash jeans when I wear riding boots and classier kinds of outfits, or if I am going out with friends! If you are an Insider who likes to dress nice frequently, then dark wash jeans are your thang.

So, do you know which team you are on? Team Dark Wash or Team Light Wash? Comment below and let me know!

Once you’ve found the perfect pair of jeans, you never want to purchase another brand or material type of jean ever again! So what if you’ve found the perfect pair, but they don’t come distressed (washed out, holes)?  No problem!  By purchasing the same pair, you can distress them yourself!  It’s super easy and is actually fun!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Sand paper
  • Ridged rocks
  • Small block of wood

Start by choosing where you want to distress your jeans. You can distress them down the front, making the color lighter, or choose all over locations to createChelsea Crockett- distressing denim holes.  Once you’ve chosen where to place the first hole, slide the block of wood in your jeans so that it separates the front and back side of the material.  Rub the sand paper or rock against the material until it looks how you like!  It might take a little for you to see results, but don’t give up!  If you do it lightly, you’ll just lighten the color of the jeans if they are dark.  If you do it longer, a hole or fray will start to form!  Do this wherever you like to complete your look!

Who knew destroying a pair of jeans could be so easy and yet, so fashionable?!

Love,

If you’re like me, you have that favorite pair of jeans that you wear over and over again!  Thank goodness denim doesn’t go out of style.  Although styles change, a trendy pair of jeans is always in!  Here are some tips to help keep your jeans looking as fresh as they did the day you bought them.

Jeggings are like a second pair of skin that you can slide into. They are stretchy, supportive, and stylish!  When you wash your jeggings/jeans, turn them inside out. I suggest using cold water and the delicate cycle.  Also, try to avoid using a hot dryer to dry your jeans. Hang them to dry or put the dryer on air only. This will prevent shrinkage. (Hint: It’s ok not to wash your jeans every time you wear them. Your jeans conform to your body and when you wash them they lose their shape.)Chelsea Crockett - Jean Styles

If you go to put your jeans on and they are feeling a bit tight, you can dampen, iron, and stretch them a bit especially around the waist.  Lastly, when you fold your jeans to put in your closet or drawers, don’t pack them too tightly. Denim fibers need air to breathe.

The best part about denim jeans is they come in every shape, style, and size.  The choices are endless:  curvy, skinny, faded, flare, coated, classic black. Whatever your look is, you can follow these tips to help your style last as long as possible!

Fall fashion is full of fabulous trends. One of those being the layered denim trend! You may think that wearing more than one denim piece in an outfit is a bit much, and in some cases that is true. But in others, you can really rock the layered look. Here are some outfit ideas to inspire your denim looks this fall!

Dark wash jeans with denim button up: This outfit is effortless. You just pull on your favorite pair of dark skinny jeans and then pull on a lighter denim button up. The light and dark shades of denim contrast nicely creating a clean, polished look. Pull on your favorite pair of tan ankle booties or white converse shoes to complete the look!Denim-on-Denim-in-HM-Trend-Update-2013-2014-1

Light wash denim, light wash jacket: I love this look as well. Pair a loose fitting white shirt with light skinnies and a distressed, light denim jacket. This outfit is easy and breezy. The loose white shirt gives you some contrast between the two denim items. Pair with some white Keds or ankle booties!

Denim mini skirt with jean jacket: You might need to rock this look while it is still semi warm out so your legs don’t freeze! But, during the semi cool, semi warm fall months this outfit is totally appropriate. You can also pair a flowy, loose white shirt with a distressed jean jacket and skirt. This look is a little more girly and flirty than the two above.

Do you love donning denim? If so, then these outfits are your cup of tea!

Denim is so versatile. It can be worn in all seasons and can make so many cute outfits. Want to know how to rock your denim this summer? Well read on!

  1. High waisted shorts: Of course, you know that these are my bread and butter. They make your waist look teeny weenie, and they also give you a nice retro flare. You can wear them with everything from a simple school tshirt to a cute grahic tee.
  2. Denim button up: You can rock one of these babies with a pair of colored shorts, a colored maxi skirt, white jeans, just about anything you want! They are very versatile and classic.chelsea crockett overalls
  3. Overall shorts: Yes, that’s right, overalls! They are actually a fashion statement this season. Even Selena Gomez is wearing them! You can rock em with a pair of converse and an elbow length tee or tight short sleeved tee. I cannot wait to pick up a pair of these for myself!

You may have heard of, or even tried, the boho chic style I’ve mentioned in a couple other articles.  If you’re in love with the boho style, just like I am :), you should try out another similar style called indie, or indie rock!  Here are a few tips on how to achieve your look.

Chelsea Crockett - Layering BraceletsThe first step to a perfect outfit is always accessorizing, which is exactly what Indie fashion is about.  Fun, colorful bracelets, like the ones on the left, show the perfect example of how to display your jewelry.  If you’re feeling extra trendy, add in a flowery or lace headband!

As far as shirts go, if you have an oversized graphic or concert tee wear it!  Also, try to stick with subtle colors such as tan, black, yellow, navy, maroon, etc.  Or… you can rock lace, flowers, or anything that gives off a hipster kind of feel.  Tribal patterns, floral prints, and denim are perfect to tie your outfit together.  Avoid neon colors or anything too bright.  It’s all about being subtle and edgy.  This style is perfect for the warm months ahead.  Chic dresses, denim shorts, and retro skirts will be sure to catch peoples’ attention this spring :)!

If you’re like me, you like a good DIY! Today I am going to show you my top 3 favorite cutoff denim short DIYs.

My first denim DIY is the bleached cutoffs! These are super easy and hipster-ish. I prefer to do this DIY with high waisted shorts. I went to Goodwill and picked up a pair of old high-waisted jeans, brought them home, and cut them into shorts! If you want the shorts to be rolled, then cut them a little longer so you can roll them up. Take your shorts and put them in a laundry tub. Make sure to wear rubber gloves during this next step! Then, mix 2 parts water and 1 part liquid bleach into your bucket. When you put the shorts in the water, only put the bottoms of the shorts in because the bleach will climb up them. Check on the shorts every hour or so and take them out when you have the desired color! Make sure to rinse the shorts out really well and then put them in the washer. Viola!

Chelsea Crockett cutoffsThe second DIY is lace cutoffs! First, find a pair of jeans you want to cut into shorts. Next, cut a triangle shaped hole in the outside seam of each leg of the shorts. Next, cut Triangles a bit larger than the holes you cut in the shorts out of the lace. Pin the triangles of lace to your shorts over the holes that you cut. Then sew the lace on, and Viola! Easy peasy! Desktop79

Now go rock your fresh new DIYs!

What would you say if a button up could turn a dress into a skirt, be turned into a crop top, and be used as a jacket?  While it may sound too good to be true, it is possible!  Button ups are a must for every closet and have so many purposes.  I’ll show you how to turn these shirts into a completely different outfit!  Get the most use out of your clothing!

To make a summer skirt, put on a sun dress or tight body con dress and wear a sheer or solid button up over it.  Button your shirt all the way up, but leave the last two buttons unbuttoned.  Tie the bottom of your shirt and it will give the illusion that you are wearing a skirt and top!  To make a winter skirt, do the same thing, but wear a maxi dress.  Pair it with a pair of combat boots and you’re good to go!  Making a crop top is very similar.  Tie your top the same and pair with high waisted shorts.  It’s such an effortless look!Chelsea Crockett- button up with dress

Lastly, a button up can be used as the perfect light summer jacket.  I love using denim button ups and bring it almost everywhere.  Whenever you get chilly, slip it on and leave it open and you’ve got a quick jacket!  It’s pretty stylish too!  Check out these button ups from Amazon and comment below if you have another fun way to rock a button up!
