Eyeliner is one of the most magical beauty products out there!  It can transform the shape of your eyes and make them pop with any makeup look.  With eyeliner, you can try a subtle straight line or a dramatic cat eye, whatever you prefer.  Here are three must-try black eyeliners!

Yves Saint Laurent offers a barely-there liquid liner that guarantees the thinnest and most subtle of lines. It’s a great product for that cat eye look you’ve always wanted to perfect, but not go too overboard with.  Although it’s a little pricier than your average drugstore eyeliners, you definitely get the quality you’re looking for!

A thick, dramatic liner can be used to switch up your look and try something a little different!  Maybelline offers just that. Their Eye Studio Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner applies a thick line that is sure to deliver the drama you’re looking for.  Why not try it out?  It’s only around $8.99 at your local drugstore!

Chelsea Crockett - Lorac Eyeliner

For the holidays, you may want to spruce up your look… especially for New Year’s Eve! Lorac’s Front of the Line Pro Eye Pencil in Charcoal applies dark silver lines and adds some sparkle to your look. You can wear it alone or with a combination of sheer metallic shadows.

Which eyeliner are you going to try out?  Tell me below!

4 Do’s and Don’ts of Eyebrow Waxing

Being a girl can be a struggle.  If you’re like me, you were born with thick, dark eyebrows that you have to keep up with!  I always find myself plucking, trimming, and waxing my brows more often than I should.  But I just recently learned about some waxing do’s and don’ts that should assure me the best wax possible! 🙂

  • DO get them done by someone you trust. Chelsea Crockett - Eyebrow ShapeYour eyebrows are seen by everyone, so you want them to look the best they can!  I like to go to nail or hair salons that have been recommended to me by a friend.  This way I can trust that the same person will hopefully do just as good of a job on my own brows!
  • DO know your eyebrow shape. Especially if you wax them yourself, you need to know which shape is best for your brows. You’ll want to know what frames your face the best!  Everyone is different so know what you’re going for! 🙂
  • DON’T wax them too frequently. Although waxing every once in a while won’t hurt your skin, too much of anything can be harmful! Waxing should keep the hair around your eyebrows away for a good amount of time.  That being said, simply wax them when you’re starting to see hair grow back, not every few days!
  • DON’T wax your eyebrows too close to a big event. Regardless of how many times you’ve done it before, you never know how your skin will react. Give your skin a few days to heal before your event!

Have any other tips for me to add to my list?  I can use all the help I can get!

Halloween is the one night of the year where you get to be whatever you want to be.  There are so many different costumes and makeup looks you can try out to make it the best Halloween yet!  Mermaid costumes are easy to pull off and fun to create a makeup look for.  Here’s an easy makeup tutorial you can try out this Halloween!

Chelsea Crockett - Mermaid Makeup Look

First, let’s focus on the eyes.  You’ll need to apply a teal or lighter blue eyeshadow base on your lids to begin.  Next, take a darker blue and apply it to your brow bone to give your eyes some more depth.  Now, pick a bright purple and apply this to your lower lash line and up to the outer corner of your lid.  Make sure you blend!  You can even add some glitter and shimmer to make your eyes pop even more.

Next comes the fun part.  You’ll need a pair of classic fish net tights to create the “mermaid scale” effect on your skin!  Take your pair of leggings and slide them over your head (try not to mess up your eyeshadow!).  Take a brush covered in purple eyeshadow and dab the brush over the tights on your cheek bone.  You can even incorporate some pinks and blues into your scales as well.  After you’re finished, I suggest taking scissors and cutting off the tights to make sure you don’t smear your product!  Then, you’re finished! 🙂

What are you going to be this Halloween?  Let me know in the comment section below (I need ideas… Haha!).

I’ll admit it, I’m a sucker for finding the best mascaras.  Whether I’m feeling a natural look for the day or want my lashes to look big and full, I always have to try a few mascaras before I fall in love with one.  Benefit’s “They’re Real” collection has a wide selection of products to give you the bold eyes you’re looking for!

  • They’re Real! Lengthening Mascara ($24). Chelsea Crockett - Benefit Products Drugstore mascara might be a lot cheaper but they’re not giving you the amazing quality this mascara does.  It lengthens, volumizes, and lifts your eyelashes to give you beautiful lashes all day long!
  • They’re Real! Gel Eyeliner Pen ($12).  If you like matte, waterproof products, then you’ll love this eyeliner pen!  It applies smoothly to your eyelid and is guaranteed to stay on for 24 hours.  It comes in 5 different colors so you can get creative with your makeup!
  • They’re Real! Tinted Primer ($12).  Primer makes a world of a difference.  This brown tinted primer will give you the base you need to apply the lengthening mascara I mentioned above.  These two products will give you your dream lashes!
  • They’re Real! Double the Lip ($20).  I’ve never seen a product like this that works so well!  The lipstick itself is shaped like a teardrop, with the tip being lip liner and the rest of it being lipstick.  So you get two products in one!

I hope you check out this collection!  I promise you, their products are some of the best out there!

Concealer is one of the best beauty tools in the world.  You can hide your tiredness by disguising dark circles or conceal stubborn pimples that won’t go away.  It color corrects, brightens, and evens out your skin to give you the perfect foundation for a beautiful face of makeup.  With that being said, we should know what we’re doing wrong with our concealer to guarantee that we’re making the most out of our product!

  1. Rubbing in your concealer with your finger.Chelsea Crockett - Naked Concealer  It may be gross to think about, but our fingers are covered in dirt, oil, and lots of bacteria.  Our fingers also don’t absorb any of our concealer like a beauty blender would which leaves it feeling caked on.  A beauty blender will blend it evenly and leave you without creases or streaks!
  2. Using the same concealer for all your blemishes, dark circles, etc.  Although this isn’t necessarily the wrong way of doing it, you can get much better coverage by using differently textured concealers.  For dark circles, try using a thicker concealer such as a cream based one.  As for pimples, try using a light, liquid concealer!
  3. Applying your concealer first as your base.  Although you may be anxious to cover up those zits as soon as you wake up, you won’t get your best coverage by starting with concealer.  Apply your foundation first, then apply your concealer!

What mistake are you making?  Now you know what to change when it comes to applying concealer!

3 Steps to Pulling Off Black Lipstick

Black lipstick is something that I never dared to try and pull off.  I always thought it was too risky and too dark for my personality!  But turns out, it’s a growing trend that I’ve seen anyone from celebrities to some of my closest friends start to try out.  If you’re easing into the black lipstick world, here are 3 steps to pull it off!

  1. First, you’ll need to focus on your eyes. Chelsea Crockett - Shay Mitchell If you try and wear black lipstick when your eye makeup is light, your lips will overpower your whole look.  Find an eyeshadow palette that doesn’t necessary have just black in it, but darker shades that will compliment dark lips, as well.  This is crucial!  Try a different blend of darker shades on your eyelids and lower lash line like Shay Mitchell did on the right.  She totally rocks this look!
  2. Next comes the contour.  Try out a darker contour that really defines your cheek bones and jawline.  Make sure you have a lighter highlight to add above the contour line as well.  This will create the illusion that your contour is darker than it is.  That being said, don’t forget to blend! 🙂
  3. Lastly, finish off some final touches such as eyebrows and obviously, lips!  The key to this look is making everything a little darker than usual.  Unfortunately, black lipstick doesn’t work too well with the natural look, so define and darken up those brows!

If you still don’t think you can pull it off, try out these three steps for yourself.  It’s a fun look to mix things up a bit every once in a while!

With summer in full swing, we can all expect a new wave of trends coming in!  Whether those be shoe trends, shirt trends, makeup trends, etc., you’ll have to get up-to-date with what trends will be “in” this season.  Here are a few makeup trends to look out for in summer 2017 so you can have the trendiest look in town!

  • Sunset eyes.  Soft reds, oranges, and yellows make for the perfect sunset eyeshadow look! Chelsea Crockett - Sunset Eyeshadow There are tons of different tutorials and ways to achieve this look.  You can go above and beyond or do a simple blended look!
  • Clean/no makeup look.  You can never go wrong with the natural look, especially this summer!  Light blush, thin eyeliner, nude lips, etc. are all something to try out this season.
  • Blue.  Too much blue can sometimes be too over-the-top, but it’s “in” this summer.  Light blue eyeshadow or even blue lips can make your makeup pop!
  • Soft colors/pastels.  I’ve always been a fan of pastels, and this summer they’re going to be super popular.  This could include pastel cheeks, lips, eyes, anything!
  • White accents.  White accented eyes are the perfect way to make your eyes pop.  Adding lighter shades around the inner corners of your eyes and your waterline will make your eyes appear bigger and brighter.

Which trendy makeup look are you going to try out this summer?  Let me know in the comment section below!  I’m hoping to try them all out myself! 🙂

Eye makeup is one of my favorite things to experiment with.  You can do so many different color combinations and looks!  Looking back at my old videos and pictures, I’ve definitely gotten better at knowing how to do my eye makeup the best way to compliment the rest of my makeup.  Here are some eye makeup do’s and don’ts that I wish I would’ve known when I first started wearing makeup!

  • DO blend your eye shadow. Chelsea Crockett - Eye Makeup This will make it look much more natural and a lot less choppy.  If you get the right brush, blending is super easy!
  • DON’T add too much highlighter to your face.  This is important especially if your eye makeup is dark.  You want to make sure your makeup is all balanced out!
  • DO copy a look that you like.  If you see a celeb’s makeup that you love, it’s much easier to create a look on yourself when you have something to go off of.
  • DON’T go crazy on the eyeliner.  There are so many other ways to make your eyes pop.  You don’t have to rely heavily on your eyeliner to do so!  The occasional cat-eye is always good, but find other ways that accent and darken your eyes.
  • DO find the colors that compliment you.  If you’re blonde haired and blue eyed, it might not be the best idea to go with dark colors like black and grey.  Use soft browns and natural colors to make your eyes pop but not be too overboard!

I hope these help you master your eye makeup skills!

Contouring is the biggest fad in the makeup industry right now!  Basically, it’s highlighting and bronzing key parts of your face to either make them stand out or be covered up.  It’s a great way to make your face look flawless.  While contouring can make you look radiant, knowing how to do it is key.  It can look quite “clown-like” if done incorrectly.  Check out how to contour the most important features of your face! Chelsea Crockett- contouring cheek bones

What you’ll need:

Contouring palette (light and dark)

Light eye shadow

Beauty Blender

Nose: For the effect of a slimmed down nose, place the dark color along the outside bridges of your nose and the light color along the top.

Cheek bones:   For the look of super-model high cheek bones, suck in your cheeks and apply the dark color into the sunken in area.  Add the lighter color to the cheek bones themselves.

Eyes:  To make your eyes pop, apply a light, shimmery eye shadow to the entire lid and the dark color along the bone above the lid.

The most important part of contouring comes last: blending.  When applying the light and dark colors, just put a stripe across each area.  Then, blend both colors together so no lines are visible.  The result?  A picture perfect face!

Enjoy experimenting with makeup!

Eyes are the first thing you notice about someone. Whether it’s their gorgeous eye shadow or popping eye color, they draw attention along with luscious, long lashes. Some of us are lucky enough to be born with gorgeous lashes… most of us aren’t so fortunate. Here are a few natural ways to stimulate growth to give you fabulous eye lashes :)!Chelsea Crockett - Long Eyelashes

  • Try brushing your lashes before you apply mascara for a few minutes daily. Make sure your eye lash brush is soft bristled. You don’t want to accidentally hurt them instead of help them. That’s simple enough, right?
  • Petroleum jelly is good for chapped lips, dry skin, etc., but it can also help your lash length! For this, you can do one of two things. Either apply it to your mascara wand or apply it using a lash comb. Both remedies work and will help with moisturizing and stimulating growth.
  • Some vitamins that help your hair grow work just as well for lashes, too! Biotin, for example, is a B-vitamin that can help with brittle nails, hair health, etc., and surprisingly works for your eye lashes as well.
  • Castor oil! This is probably the most recommended remedy. Apply some of it to your lashes before you go to sleep and leave it on overnight. I promise, you’ll see a difference soon enough!
  • Green tea isn’t only for drinking. Apply it with a cotton ball to your lashes and let them soak for a few minutes.

Let me know your secrets for getting your own luscious lashes below!

As a girl, makeup is a big deal.  I mean, what would we do without it?!  Getting together with friends is always a fun time…doing each other’s makeup and trying out your friends’ makeup is all part of the fun!  Unfortunately, we don’t think of the germs, bacteria, and viruses that we may be sharing.  Yuck!!  So, how bad is it to share makeup?  Let’s take a look:Chelsea Crockett- sharing Makeup

When it comes to powered foundations, blush, and liquid foundations, go ahead and share!!  The trick here is to use your own brush.  Just make sure your brush and face are clean and apply!  No harm done.

Lip and eye products are a big “no-no”.  Your mouth can transfer cold sores, colds, and other viruses.  The swipe of someone else’s lip gloss, lip balm, or lip stick can create a potential risk.  It’s not worth it!  Mascara, eye liner, and eye shadow brushes are other beauty products that should not be shared.  Surprisingly, bacteria and viruses like pink eye can be transferred by sharing these simple products.  Crazy, right?!  Next time you ask to use your friends’ makeup, think twice about what products you are borrowing.  Be careful and don’t spread the germs!

Using Liner to Change Your Eye Shape

Did you know that you can use eyeliner to totally change the shape of your eyes? It CAN be done! Let me explain:  If you’d like your eyes to look…

Did you know that you can use eyeliner to totally change the shape of your eyes? It CAN be done! Let me explain:

If you’d like your eyes to look closer together or if your eyes are wide-set: Add liner to the inner corner of your eyelids (eye #13).

If you’d like your eyes to look wider apart or if your eyes are close-set: Leave liner off of the inner corner or your eye, and be sure to line the outer upper lid. You may also line the lower outer lid if you want (eye # 12).

For a smokey or dramatic look: Line all the way around the eye. The thicker your liner, the smokier and more dramatic the look! You may also want to ‘smudge’ the line with your finger to keep it from looking too harsh. Something to keep in mind, though, is that this technique makes your eyes look the smallest, or the least “open”, so I wouldn’t use this technique if you feel your eyes are small. (eyes # 4,10,11)

To create the trendy “cat-eye” look: Line your eye as you normally would (upper lid, or both upper and lower), and then add a small swipe or ‘wing’ at the outer corner of the upper lid. This ‘wing’ may be as big and thick as you’d like, but generally for everyday wear, a smaller wing is fashionable and appropriate. (eyes #1,2,8)

Chelsea Crockett Eyeliner

To make your eyes look more open and bigger: Only line the top lid. If you want your eyes to look bigger, but still like wearing bottom-lid liner, try lining the outer half of the bottom lid. Another cheat or trick here would be to use a white or light-toned liner on your bottom lid. Lighter-shades have an ‘opening’ effect, while dark shades make them look smaller. (eye #9)

To summarize all that jazz: Darker, all-over liner is most dramatic, but makes your eyes look a bit smaller. Lining the top lid gives your eyes a big, open effect, but is a less dramatic, more natural look. And to change your eye shape, add liner to the outer or inner corner, depending on where you’d like to add depth or length to your eye shape.

Use these tips to switch up your look!

Before applying makeup, use a cool gel de-puffing eye roller under the eyes.  This will immediately wake them up and prepare them for makeup.  If your eyes are red, then use a green toned primer to counteract the redness.  You can also use a brightening primer to make your eyes look more refreshed.  Next, using liquid concealer, apply a light layer to your under eyes for a smooth finish.  No one will even know you’ve been crying!  Reapply your mascara and you’re good to go!

Hi Lovelies!

Wearing glasses is a normal everyday thing for a lot of us.  Unfortunately they cover up the prettiest part of your face…your eyes.  Making sure your makeup is on point is very important!  You don’t want your glasses to be the main focus.  Follow these simple tips to make sure you look as beautiful as ever while wearing your glasses.Chelsea Crockett- makeup with glasses

  • Wear liner that is a different color from your frames.  If the colors are the same, it’s more likely that your eyes will blend in with the glasses.  Make sure they stand out!
  • Avoid dark eye shadow.  Wearing light eye shadow will make your eyes pop behind the lenses.
  • Mascara on the bottom of your lashes is normally a good thing…except when you’re wearing glasses.  The dark frame around the bottom of your eye and the mascara on your bottom lashes can cause the look of dark circles under your eyes.
  • Thick glasses call for thick eyeliner, while thin glasses call for thin eyeliner!  Don’t mix the two up.
  • Be sure to curl your lashes!  Curling your lashes will open up your eyes, making them appear to be bigger.
  • Don’t forget about the rest of your skin!  Just because glasses focus more on your eyes, doesn’t mean you don’t need to put a little foundation on!

Have fun trying these simple tips text time you rock your glasses!
