God is, and always has been, calling us to something much bigger than ourselves. He calls us to a life following in Jesus’s footsteps. A life of joy, obedience, hope, grace, and so much more.

Whether we believe it or not, God uses our bodies as vessels for his kingdom. We have a purpose far greater than spending our days in a routine. Wake up, go to class or work, go to sleep, repeat… Sound familiar?

In a song by Colton Dixon entitled “Let Them See You,” he talks about the attitude we should have while living our lives as followers of Christ.

“Let them see you in me.

Let them hear you when I speak.

Let them feel you when I sing.

Let them see you in me.”

I often think about this song when reflecting on the way I live. If the people around me don’t see God in me, then what’s the point?

Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” This verse tells of a simple concept: that Jesus scarified himself so we could live freely in his presence.

When we think about obedience, we usually don’t like it. We want to do what we want to do, when we want to do it. But when we consider the ultimate sacrifice, obedience gets a little easier. And through these actions of obedience, we are able to display the love and grace of Christ through ourselves. Like I mentioned before, we as God’s vessels are alive to do just that!

Psalm 109:26-27 says, “Help me, Lord my God; save me according to your unfailing love. Let them know that it is your hand, that you Lord, have done it.”

This is the perfect prayer to pray before you go asleep at night and when you wake up in the morning. Pray for the actions of yourself to reflect those of a loving Father, a God that loves, provides, cares, protects, and forgives.

The world paints such a distorted view of who God really is. The world sees him as a dictator, someone who puts rules on us to keep us from “having fun” or doing what we want to do.

So, what better way to prove the world wrong than by living a life holy and pleasing to God and showing others that the best way to live is alongside someone who loves us unconditionally?

We are called to live a life that points others in His direction. Remember the chorus of Colton Dixon’s song: “Let them see you in me. Let them hear you when I speak. Let them feel you when I sing. Let them see you in me.” Meditate on these lyrics, memorize them, and let them be a testament to your life! 🙂

Finding Your Purpose in a Big World

The world is full of 7.4 billion people.

To put that into perspective, if you multiply the population of the United States 22 times, you still wouldn’t exceed the earth’s population. It’s more than the amount of people living in New York City… if you multiplied it by 866.

You never really think of how big the world is and how you are only 1 of the 7 billion on this planet.

I don’t say these things to discourage you or make you feel less important, I just want you to realize how big of a world God created and recognize the true scale of its greatness.

On the contrary, I want YOU to recognize the true scale of your own greatness, the greatness that God designed in you since the beginning of your life.

Take a look at Psalm 119:

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”

Read that verse through again. The creator of the entire universe knew every detail about you before you were even brought into this world. He created you to be wonderful, God-fearing, and perfect in his eyes.

Knowing that the same God who created the ocean and the stars in the sky created me and you individually and perfectly, we should have full confidence in the fact that HE has a bigger purpose for OUR lives.

1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

We are a part of something much bigger than ourselves. We are chosen for God’s perfect mission on this earth. We should act as if we are God’s special possession like the Bible says. Once we believe this, our confidence, boldness, and joy will overflow into our lives!

2 Corinthians 8:21 says, “Our purpose is to do what is right, not only in the right of the Lord, but also in the sight of others.”

Do you know what it means to be a witness for Christ? It means to live your life in a Christ-like manner for others to see. The way we talk the talk and walk the walk can push others to desire a relationship with God!

Extend a hand to your friends, your family, even strangers passing by. We should allow God to shine his light through our own lives.

Our time here is limited. We should be living for God and fulfilling his purpose for our lives, whatever that may be!

Find your confidence in HIM. We may just be 1 person out of 7 billion, but we have a special purpose in HIM and HIM alone!
