To Everything There is a Season

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1

There is a time for exactly where you are – whether it is a time of healing, a time of questioning, a time of excitement, a time of confusion, a time of doubt, a time of laughing, a time of dancing, or even a time in between.

Maybe, if you’re like me, it is a time for planning and planting. This season is full of school and studying for my degree, full of wedding planning and also planning for my new life and new “normal.” If you are also in a busy season of life like the one I’m in, sometimes it can feel like you’re dropping the ball on some things in order to keep others up in the air. Maybe some of your friendships aren’t as strong as they used to be because you have to spend more time studying. Maybe you’ve had to put some hobbies on hold so that you can put your future first. In these times we must remember that “to everything there is a season.”

Accepting your season instead of feeling bad about it is one way to calm your heart and mind. There will be a time when school is over, weddings will be over, and life will start a brand new season. That may be the season where you pick things up where you left off, whether it be with friends or hobbies or anything else you’ve had to put on the back burner. During all seasons we should stay grateful, faithful, and supportive of one another. Learn from your seasons and be able to look back on them as teachable times. After all, every moment of your life is a time that has been handpicked by God. Maybe you are anxiously awaiting a season that has not yet started in your life. Maybe you feel stuck in a rut and are wishing for a change of scenery. Wherever you are and whatever you are feeling, be ready to trust in His timing. Embrace the season you are in and everything going on in your life right now, because in the blink of an eye, at can all change.

What season are you in? Evaluate, accept, and embrace the season. And remember, don’t get too comfortable, because every season is just that – a season.

Leave It, Then See It

God’s timing is perfect. It is never early, and never late. We may not always agree with it, but it is divinely appointed and we can’t argue with it. Patience is something I, and I think most people, struggle with. We want things now, and we want them just the way we like them. Stress tells us that we need everything right this second and we need it to happen now. Faith tells us something different. Faith reminds us that everything will happen when God says that it will happen.

I saw a quote the other day that said “Those who leave everything in God’s hands will eventually see God’s hands in everything.” So, to shorten that quote, I say “Leave it, then see it.”

I am good at giving things to God. I cast my cares on Him. I share the anxieties of my heart and the worries on my mind with Him. I am good at giving things to Him. But, that doesn’t mean I am good at leaving them there. I have a tendency to want to take things back and do them my own way. I have never regretted giving anything to God. I have regretted taking things back.

Isaiah 41:9-10 says I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This verse describes us as the Lord’s servants. We have been chosen by Him. We have no need to be afraid or dismayed because He strengthens and helps us. He loves us and upholds us. Why wouldn’t we leave everything in His hands?

What are you holding on – or trying to take back- from God? Is it career choices, financial struggles, health issues, relationship trials, etc.? Put your fears, doubts, questions and anxieties in the hands of the One who knows every hair on your head. He knows yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He can calm the seas with a single word. He gave sight to the blind. He made the lame to walk. What makes you think he can’t handle your worries?

I am still learning, and will be for a long time, how to trust the hands of the One who created the universe. He will give you peace and security. He will give you clarity. And, best of all, He will give you joy. Leaving everything in His hands means you can see His hands in everything.

Who says you have to have a boyfriend to make you happy? So many girls find their self-worth and happiness through the guys they date. I want to tell you that the single life is a GOOD life! Just because you don’t have a boy toy doesn’t mean you aren’t pretty or likeable, it just means God has bigger plans for you! Here are a few ways to be happily single.

  1. Enjoy your independence: When you have a boyfriend you aren’t just thinking of yourself anymore because your actions impact both of you. When you are single, you have so much freedom! Want to go out with friends Friday night? DO it! You won’t have a boyfriend competing for your attention! Enjoy this time with your girlfriends, because before long you will all be going off to college and growing apart as you grow up.FullSizeRender (8)
  2. Figure YOU out: These teenage years are crucial for us teenage girls! These are the years where we are figuring out who we are and what we are all about. Sometimes having a boyfriend can cause us to put our thoughts/feelings on the back burner and focus more on his. Be confident and sure of yourself and who you are!
  3. Trust God’s timing: I don’t stress about being single because I know that it is just God preparing the perfect guy for me. Plus, he is preparing ME for the perfect guy! You may feel ready to meet your prince charming, but God may have other plans. Don’t stress, just enjoy life where God has you. The perfect guy will come along when you least expect it.

So, if you are single, just enjoy it! I know I do!

XOXO, Chels
