5 Types of Friends Every Girl Needs

My girlfriends are the people that hold me together.  They’re the people I run to when I’m having a good day, a bad day, or just want to kick back and binge watch One Tree Hill with.  Although all of my BFF’s have a lot of things in common, they’re also extremely different, too!  Here are 5 types of friends every girl needs!

  1. The Best Friend.  Every girl needs that friend that is their go-to for everything.Chelsea Crockett - Best Friend  If all else fails, you know you have that one best friend that will always, always be there for you in any situation.  This friend is so important!
  2. The Mom Friend.  This friend is someone who won’t hesitate to correct you if you’re wrong.  She’ll make sure to take care of you when you need it, but to also help steer you down the right path.  (She also gives the best advice!)
  3. The Fun Friend.  Having a fun, adventurous friend that’s always down for anything and everything is the perfect person to pull you out of your comfort zone.  Maybe this friend will convince you to go skydiving or on that rollercoaster you’ve always chickened out of.  Let her tag you along on her crazy adventurous!
  4. The Sister Friend.  This friend is the one you go to for all your advice.  She’s the one who will sit and listen to you at any hour of the night!
  5. The Stick-Up-For-You Friend.  We all need that friend that will stick up for us when we can’t defend ourselves.  You know this friend will have your back in any situation!

Which friend is which in your own girl squad?  I know each type of friend is a good one to keep around! 🙂

3 Unique Ways to Spend Mother’s Day

I feel like Mother’s Day is one of those holidays that always sneaks up on me so fast!  Coming up with the perfect gift and day to plan out isn’t easy, but I always get it done in time to surprise my mom with a great day.  I wanted to think out of the box this year, so I came up with a few unique ways to spend Mother’s Day!

  • Buy supplies at the store and plant some flowers together!Chelsea Crockett - DIY Flower Pots  You can even buy pots to decorate with paints, stencils, and other things to customize them.  You and your mom can go to the store together and pick out which seeds you want to plant, too.  Make sure you remember to give it lots of water and sunlight!
  • Take a “staycation.”  This is when you go to a nearby big city (or the city you live in if you’re not close to a bigger one) and create a whole day filled with plans that you and your mom can do together!  This could be anything from going to eat somewhere you’ve always wanted to and exploring different spots around town.  Living near St. Louis, it’s always fun to plan a relaxing day around the city!
  • Now this idea is a little outside the box but perfect for a bigger group of people.  Something called Escape the Room is so, so fun for a group of about 10 or so people.  Grab your mom, aunt, grandma, etc. and work together to make it out in time!  They’re getting more and more popular so look for one in your city!

What are you doing this year for Mother’s Day?  Let me know below!

Perfect LUSH Mother’s Day Gift!

Mother’s Day is the perfect day to show your mom how much she truly means to you.  Although we should thank her for all she does for us every day, Mother’s Day is a great excuse to go above and beyond and get her something special!  LUSH Cosmetics has the ideal Mother’s Day gift collection that you can choose from!

  • A Yellow or Pink “MOM” Bath Bomb ($7.95). Chelsea Crockett - LUSH Bath Bomb This is my favorite product from the Mother’s Day collection.  It’s the most appropriate for the occasion! 🙂 And your mom will love a fizzling bath bomb!
  • “Your Mother Should Know” Bubble Bar ($12.95).  Instead of a bath bomb, this bubble bar creates a bath full of grapefruit and rosewood scented bubbles!  And unlike a bath bomb, you can get a few uses out of it if you use it wisely.
  • “Ups-A-Daisy” Bath Bomb ($7.95).  This bath bomb is in the shape of a flower and creates bright, technicolor swirls throughout your bath.  It has scents of orange and rosewood to give you a relaxing, spring aroma.
  • “Yummy Mummy” Shower Cream ($9.95-$29.95).  Depending on the size of the bottle, this shower cream can range anywhere between about $10 to $30.  It leaves your skin feeling smooth and smelling sweet!
  • “Happy Mother’s Day” Gift Basket ($87.95).  If you want to go above and beyond, you can purchase a full gift basket filled with a variety of different Mother’s Day products.  It may be pricey, but you definitely get your money’s worth!

What are you going to put in your mom’s basket this year?  Share with me below and I might do the same! 🙂

As you grow up, your relationship with your mom changes. She goes from being an authoritative figure to a friend. Once you move out of the house you start making your own decisions and forging your own path, free from you mom’s care. You start to realize that all of the lessons she was trying to teach you were actually super relevant, and you wish you would have listened just a little bit harder. In honor of Mother’s Day I thought I would talk about how your relationship with your mom changes as you grow up. I think a lot of you can relate to these!

  1. You listen to her advice…and you take it: When you are a teenager it can be hard to take mom’s advice because you think you know best. Boy are we wrong! Mother knows best. Moms are some of the wisest people on the planet. Be willing to listen to their advice, and when you need advice, ask for it!FullSizeRender (57)
  2. You care about her dating advice: When we are younger it is easy for us to get defensive about who we are “dating” and don’t want to hear what they have to say about them because, well, they are totally right and you don’t want to admit it. As you mature you start seeking her advice about dating and ask for her opinion.
  3. You can agree to disagree: Odds are, you and your madre don’t always see eye to eye on everything. When you are younger, disagreements can quickly turn into crying fits and “you just don’t understand mom!!!”. Actually, girlfriend, she DOES understand. And as you grow up, you learn to pick your battles and disagreements no longer end with you slamming your door in angst.
  4. You do adult things together: Like going on walks in the park. Or going grocery shopping. Or going to lunch or getting coffee. See what I mean? You mom becomes more like a BFF. And that is awesome. You actually enjoy getting to clean up the kitchen and empty the dishwasher together because it is a time that you two get to talk.

My approaching college days are making me realize how much my relationship with my mom has changed over the years and how much more it will change after I leave. One thing I know is that my mom is one of my very best friends, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

XOXO, Chels

Shopping is definitely one of my favorite hobbies.  If you’re like me, you have a hard time resisting a great buy!  Unfortunately there is an evil side to shopping.  It takes all your money!  It’s such an expensive habit!  A great way to keep your closet rotating with new clothes is to borrow!  Now, don’t keep their clothes, but simply borrow for a few wears!  It’s a great way to feel like you have new clothes without breaking the bank.Chelsea Crockett- borrowing clothes

It’s great having friends the same size as you.  To be fair when borrowing, let them borrow one of your skirts in exchange for one of theirs.  This way you’ll remember to give back their shirt and won’t keep it forever!  Another fun place to borrow from is your moms’ closet.  I’m sure many of you are thinking, “EW, my mom and I DO NOT have the same style!”  Well, think again.  Check out her sweaters and accessories.  A simple cardigan can change any look, and a “new” pair of earrings can make you feel like a million bucks!  Also, ask if she’s kept any clothes from her teenage years.  You might be surprised at what you find!

Have fun borrowingSmile

Girls, we’ve all been there. Between heartbreaks, friends, wanting to look good, and lady problems, we’ve been through it all.  Luckily, most of us can all relate to each other through one form or another.  We need to reunite!  Comment below if you can relate to these everyday struggles of being a girl.

  1. Walking into a room or store and completely forgetting why you were there in the first place.
  2. Noticing you didn’t cover those ugly pimples correctly and your eyeliner is crooked.
  3. Asking your friend if you bled through your pants. “Hey um can you just check for me.”
  4. Constantly complaining!!!
  5. Shaving your legs and then automatically feeling like you’re going to turn into a cactus the minute you get cold.
  6. Asking your dog for comfort.
  7. Feeling like your dog is your only friend.Chelsea Crockett- dog
  8. Having awkward conversations with your mom or dad.
  9. Asking your friends if you have lipstick on your teeth.
  10. Having that one embarrassing friend, but you still love them.
  11. Secretly picking a wedgie.
  12. JUST BEING A GIRL IN GENERAL.

Hi Insiders,

Being a teenager can be tough.  Between school, hanging out with friends, sports, and work, there’s hardly any time to spend with your parents.  A quick “hi” and “bye” is the typical conversation these days.  As you all know, I really love my family.  If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now!  They’ve always been there for me and encouraged me to follow my dreams.  You may not always realize it, but your parents love you so much!  Here are a few ideas to show your parents you appreciate them as much as you do.Chelsea Crockett- family life

  • Always tell them you love them before you leave the house and before you go to sleep.  A simple “I love you” can go a long way.
  • Invite them to different school functions you’re attending.  Whether it be a football game or tennis match, it’ll show your parents that you enjoy being around them.
  • Talk to them!  Don’t be afraid to open up.  They are your support system.  This will create a stronger bond.
  • Write them a card.  Sometimes it’s hard to tell someone exactly how you feel face to face, so write out a nice letter to show your appreciation.  It doesn’t have to be a birthday or holiday for someone to receive a card!
  • Set aside at least  one night a week for a family dinner.  It’s a great way to sit down and spend time with your parents.

I encourage all of you to spend more time with your family.  They will always be there for you!  “Honor your father and mother.  Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” Exodus 20:12

Love,
