3 Ways to Find Rest in God

Life can be stressful.  It can be full of setbacks and disappointments that are hard to overcome.  If you let these consume you, you can lose sight of God’s plan for you and how much he loves and cares for you.  Here are three different ways you can find rest in God when life throws unexpected challenges at you!

  1. Find a quiet place to dive into the Word. One of the best ways to grow closer to God is by spending time with him and him alone.  When you give yourself time to read the truth about what God says, you can find rest in his promises!
  2. Pray continuously, not just when you feel like it. When I’m in constant communication with God, I automatically feel 10x closer to him.  When I’m simply thanking him for the things in my life, I feel at peace.  It puts into perspective how many blessings I have in my life whether I realize it or not!
  3. Play some good worship music. I don’t know about you, but music is one of the most calming things for me, especially worship music. I love listening to slow, calming music that puts me into a happy mood!  It might not work for you, but it’s worth a try!

I hope this advice helps you out next time you’re feeling down or far from God! 🙂

Music festivals are the perfect opportunity to dress up in your most stylish festival gear and take lots of pics with your friends!  Although rocking a cute outfit and glamorous makeup is important, you’ll need a hairstyle to complete your look, as well.  Since festivals can often be hot and sweaty, here are 5 perfect hairstyles for the occasion!

  • Braided Top Buns. Chelsea Crockett - Braided Top Buns Like the picture on the right, a braided top buns look is super cute!  It’s a good hairstyle to keep hair out of your face which helps when you’re out in the sun!
  • Half-Up Loose Bun.  Contrary to top nots and tight high ponytails, loose, messy buns are totally in.  It’s okay if your hair is a little messy, it’s supposed to be with this look!
  • A Jeweled Headpiece.  When it comes to festivals, there’s pretty much no such thing as “going too all out.”  Buy a simple jeweled headpiece and try it out for yourself!
  • Center Part Double Braids.  Ohhh, the double braids trend… It’s still alive and thriving!  This is a perfect option for hot weather and dancing to your favorite bands!
  • Glitter Roots.  This is a new trend that is SO cute and fun!  You can look up all the different ways you can do this on Pinterest or YouTube.  You can add lots of glitter or only a little, whatever you want!

Which hairstyle are you going to try out?  Let me know below and what festival you’re attending, as well!  Maybe I’ll see you there :).

Do’s and Don’ts of Coachella

Coachella: one of the world’s largest music festivals in the history of EVER!  I was lucky enough to get to go and experience it myself last year and lemme tell ya… it was incredible!  Since I was a first-timer, I learned some things that I would and wouldn’t do again.  Here are a few Coachella do’s and don’ts!

DO’S

  • Do drink plenty of water!  Since you’ll be in the middle of a 100-degree weather desert, you’re going to get very hot, very fast.  Staying hydrated will keep you refreshed and happy!
  • Do keep your phone plenty charged.  If you ever do get separated from your friends, you’ll need to be able to find them!  You’ll also be taking plenty of pics and videos… I mean, it is Coachella!
  • Do stay well rested and well fed.  You’ll enjoy Coachella 10x more if you have a full stomach and plenty of sleep!

DON’TS

  • Don’t get lost from your friends. Chelsea Crockett - Coachella Outfit In a festival filled with thousands and thousands of people, it’s easy to get separated from your group.  That being said, it can be extremely hard to find them again, especially if your phone service isn’t the greatest.  Stay close to them or have a buddy system!
  • Don’t dress uncomfortably.  Now I know Coachella is known for the stylish festival outfits, but you can be both cute and comfy such as the picture on the right!  You’ll be outside in the sun and walking around all day so dress accordingly (especially with the right shoes!).
  • Don’t last-minute plan.  It’s one of the biggest, and not to mention most crowded, festivals of the year… PLAN AHEAD!

Coachella will be one of the best experiences of your life, hands down!  Have fun and take these do’s and don’ts into consideration!

The 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards were just the other day and you know what that means: a red carpet full of all the hottest trends and styles of the season!  Celebrities such as Katy Perry, Demi Lovato, and the members of Fifth Harmony all rocked the red carpet this year.  Here are a few noticeable trends that are some of the hottest looks this season!

  • Metallic.  Metallic is a trend that comes and goes in waves.  Chelsea Crockett - Demi LovatoWell the wave is in, and metallic is back in full swing!  The picture on the right shows singer Demi Lovato rocking a metallic dress, jacket, and shoes on the red carpet.
  • Jumpsuits.  Jumpsuits are super comfy and can be dressed up depending on the style of them.  Most of the jumpsuits on the red carpet were dressed up for the event, but you can find one that’s much more casual but just as stylish!
  • Neutral colors.  There wasn’t a lot of color to be seen on the carpet this year.  There were some pastels or dark tones here and there, but black, white, and other neutral colors made up the majority of the celebs’ looks!
  • Anything but dresses.  Wait, what?  I thought award shows called for the prettiest gowns and dresses?  Usually that’s the case, but this year most celebs rocked jumpsuits, rompers, or pants and a stylish shirt.

Which trend is your favorite?  Let me know below! 🙂

If you follow me on social media then you know I am gearing up to head to Atlanta Georgia on January 2nd to the Passion Conference. I am so excited to go and worship and learn more about God with my friends! Some of you may not know what Passion is, so I thought I would fill you in.fullsizerender-69

The Passion Conference exists to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation. The movement started in 1995 and has had one mission since then: to call students from campuses across the nation and around the world to live for what matters most. What matters most is Jesus. Millions of students and people from 18-25 have had their lives transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit at Passion, and because of their Faith their voice is getting louder as they rise and bring hope and light to the world. Passion is more than music and events; it is a generation living for Jesus.

Want to join the movement? Come to Passion! If you can’t make it, research the conference and find out other ways you can get involved.

This generation is the generation of smartphones.  We don’t want to admit it, but we love our phones and depend on them for more than we realize!  I’ve written many articles and have even made videos about various beauty and fashion hacks, but what about some iPhone secrets?  You can thank me later! 🙂

  • Faster charging.  If you need a quick charge for your iPhone, put it on airplane mode while it’s plugged in.  This turns off all of its features so it’s using minimal battery while trying to charge up!Chelsea Crockett - iPhone Timer Hack
  • Fall asleep listening to music.  If you like a little background music while you fall asleep, you can set a timer to turn off your music for you!  As long as it’s through Apple music or Spotify, you can go to your clock app, select the timer tab, and select “Stop Playing” in the “When Timer Ends” setting like the picture on the right.  It’ll shut your music off for you when the timer is done!
  • Better selfie editing.  If you download Facetune for $0.99, you can get rid of annoying pimples and blemishes.  It also has tons of cool features to perfect your pic.
  • Improving battery life.  If you’re phone is running low on battery, you can go to the battery tab of the settings app and switch on the “low power mode” setting.  It turns off unnecessary features to stretch out your battery life for up to hours at a time!

What hacks do I need to know?  Let me know in the comments section below!

We all have bad days. Whether it’s something as little as a bad grade or something a lot bigger, you may start to feel far from God. Sometimes you lose faith or don’t have the time to grow and build your relationship with Christ. It can be frustrating and confusing but we’ve all been there. I came up with a few tips to turn your bad days to good days :).

  • Set apart some alone time to spend with God. Chelsea Crockett - God QuoteIf we never spend time with our friends and family, we will slowly grow apart from them. It’s the same thing with God! Never having some quiet time to listen for what God is trying to tell you will result in farness from God and His plan.
  • Pray, pray, pray. Prayer is powerful! Speaking to God one-on-one will strengthen your relationship with Him.
  • Text a friend from church, a youth leader, etc. If you have a church family that you can rely on, use that to your advantage! If you can’t talk and pray with someone in your family, seek advice from a fellow Christian.
  • Go to church. What’s a better place to get closer to God than being surrounded by good fellowship and the Word?
  • Listen to Christian music. I know when I’m feeling down, I love to listen to my favorite Christian artists. Their songs send very powerful messages that I sometimes need to hear!

I hope these tips help you draw nearer to God and help you remember how much he loves you.

Love, Chelsea

I would not consider myself a runner, but every once in a while I like to mix a good run into my workout routine. Whether you run one mile or 25 miles a week, having a good running playlist is vital to keep those feet moving and those arms pumping. Lots of times, the good workout songs with great beats sometimes have really nasty lyrics, and who wants to fill their head with garbage while they are working up a sweat? Lift your spirits and feel encouraged by your music while working out by adding these Christian songs to your running playlist.

  1. Go Hard by Lecrae
  2. Jesus Freak by DC Talkhqdefault
  3. Wake by Hillsong
  4. My Lighthouse by Rend Collective
  5. Move by Toby Mac
  6. Messengers by Lecrae
  7. It’s On by Superchick
  8. Greater by MercyMe
  9. Praise Like Fireworks – Rend Collective
  10. Ain’t No Grave – David Crowder (cool down)

Now snatch up your headphones and hit the trail!

I love music. Whether I’m driving, doing homework, or getting ready for school, it’s always blaring 24/7. I like all different types of music, but Christian is definitely one of my favorite genres. Over the years, I’ve discovered three bands or singers that I’m especially fond of and I wanted to share them with you :)!

  • Hillsong Young & Free – You may be more familiar with the group Hillsong United, but Hillsong Young & Free is a youth ministry that isn’t just a label, but a message and ministry as well! In a generation that needs it, their music reflects living a life with God and living according to His purpose. A lot of their music is upbeat and fun to listen to, but still tells an awesome message!Chelsea Crockett - Hillsong Young and Free
  • Jonathan David – Jonathan’s message revolves around one of freedom and wholeness in God. I love listening to his music when I’m doing homework or simply relaxing. I strongly suggest you take a listen!
  • All Sons & Daughters – This band is one of my faves! They’re a duo that preforms mainly acoustic and folk styled music, which I love! They have three full albums released and they’re all so good! If you like that type of chill, acoustic music, then I suggest you check them out.

Music is something that I continually put in my mind and body, so I always make sure it benefits me. What you listen to can help or hurt you, so listening to God’s Word is always my go-to :).

Summer is the number one thing that can’t be complete without some good music. It sets the carefree, chill mood that all of us should be experiencing during our vacation! Everyone has their favorite artist or genre they like to jam to so here’s a little taste of mine :).

A new “on the rise” artist from the UK, George Ezra, has an album out that is absolutely perfect. It’s more laid-back music than dancing music but it’s nice for those relaxing summer nights! You’ve probably heard one of his songs “Budapest” on the radio which is his most popular song from the album Wanted On Voyage. Check it out :)!

If you’re a Pitch Perfect fan (which let’s be real who isn’t?), Chelsea Crockett - Pitch Perfect 2then what’s better to jam to than the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack! The movie was hilarious and the songs in it were just as good! Another album is the new Mumford & Sons album Wilder Mind. Of course you have to be into the folk sounding tunes of the tracks but I love them! Lastly, the new Zedd album will totally get you pumped-up for summer. It’s called True Colors and each song has just as much a catchy beat as the next!

What are you listening to while spending your days in the sun? Leave a comment below!

Yeah, it is an understatement to say that I am NOT a morning person. I would much rather sleep until noon that get up at 6 am every morning for school. But, since getting up early is something that we have to get used to as we grow up, I have found was to make it a little more bearable. My favorite way to get myself going in the morning is to listen to music! Once I get jamming my body knows it is time to get up and start the day. Here are some songs to start your morning off right:

  1. Sugar by Maroon 560363443
  2. Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves
  3. Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (What a name!)
  4. Ready or Not by Bridgit Mendler
  5. Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham!
  6. This Will Be by Natalie Cole (Every time I hear this song I think of the movie The Parent Trap!)
  7. Daylight by Matt and Kim
  8. Any song by Lacrae, I love his music!

So, wake up on the right side of the bed and get your groove on!

The world is a busy place.  Between school, friends, family, relationships, and stress, it can be easy to lose yourself in the process of trying to balance life.  Most don’t realize how important it is to take time for yourself and love who you truly are.  Self-reflection can be done in a number of ways and can lead you down the path of a healthier lifestyle.Chelsea Crockett- loving yourself

Sometimes it can be hard to talk to people about deep issues, especially if you are trying to protect someone.  Keeping a personal journal is a great way to say whatever is on your mind without worrying about who hears it, being judged, or whether others will find out.  Another way to self-reflect is to drive to a beautiful place alone and just think.  When noise is at a minimum, you are able to sort out your thoughts more easily and come to a solid conclusion.  It’s also a great way to take a breather and enjoy the world.

My favorite way to self-reflect is through music.  Christian music, in particular, is a scape goat for my thoughts when I’m going through a rough time.  I love finding a song that relates to exactly what I’m going through.  It makes me feel like I’m not alone!

Never let the stress of life take over your mind.  If you take time for yourself, you’ll discover a happier you.

XOXO,

Chelsea

School, drama, and life in general can be stressful at times.  Unfortunately, this stress isn’t just giving you a headache; it may be giving you bad skin!  Different types of stress affect your skin differently.  By examining your skin, you may be able to determine what type of stress you’re suffering from and how you can help it!

Worrying and anxiety are the two biggest types of stress.  Worrying causes inflammation, dark under eye circles, dryness, and increased sensitivity.  The more sensitive your skin is, the more prone you are to breakouts and the dreaded zits.  Anxiety can cause a decrease in health.  When someone is anxious, they tend to put less of an emphasis on caring for their skin and body.  Exercising becomes less and less, grabbing fast food is the easier option, and going to sleep without taking your makeup off becomes more and more frequent.  All of these factors can cause weight gain, poor skin, and a lack of nutrition.  The easiest and most effective ways to stop stress is to relax!!  Set time aside for yourself, hangout with your friends, watch a funny movie, or go for a run.  Also, make sure to get plenty of sleep!  By doing Chelsea Crockett- friendsone of these activities once a day, your stress levels will reduce dramatically.

Stress can take such a toll of your body.  Other than the occasional tears, many do not realize the underlying effects stress takes on your body.  Take care of yourself and don’t let stress control your life!

Chelsea

Outside of makeup and fashion, music is a big part of my life.  I listen to it on my way to school, while I work out, and basically any other time I can get my hands on a pair of headphones.  I’ve recently been into lots of different artists and genres, anywhere from Christian to Pop.  I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite tunes and beats!Chelsea Crockett - Playlist

I always love to listen to Christian music to get me through the day.  It’s encouraging, positive, and full of God’s message.  Lately, I’ve really been into a song called “Lead Me to the Cross” by Hillsong.  It’s such a pretty song and perfect to listen to start your day.

Not only do I listen to Christian music, but hip-hop as well!  Lecrae’s new album, “Church Clothes,” is a perfect mix between the two genres.  His songs are awesome and fun to listen to!

Of course, I can’t forget one of my favorite country singers.  Hunter Hayes’s album “Encore” is sooo good!  I can’t seem to get it off repeat.  I just recently went to his concert and it totally lived up to my expectations.  Besides his outstanding music, he’s such a cutie, too!

Just like any teenage girls, Taylor Swift is one of the many names I have on my playlist.  I’ve recently been loving her song “Dear John.”  It’s on her “Speak Now” CD which came out a couple of years ago.  Definitely take a listen!

Hi Insiders,

Working out can be a drag.  It’s not typically someone’s favorite thing to do.  Some don’t realize this, but getting yourself to the gym is actually the biggest struggle!  Once there, you’ll be pushed to get on that treadmill and GO!  Here are a few simple tips to make your trip to the gym a lot easier.

  1. Bring a buddy!  Having someone to workout with is actually a huge motivator.  You may not even realize that you’re pushing each other to do better.  Plus, you’ll have someone to talk to.  You won’t even realize it, the time will fly by!
  2. Be sure to prep your body.  Drink plenty of water and stretch.  It’ll make your workout easier since you’ll be loose and hydrated.Chelsea Crockett- gym
  3. Make a killer playlist!  Music makes any workout 10x easier.  It drowns out the sound of yourself breathing, which can actually make you more tired.
  4. Don’t overwork your body.  If you haven’t worked out in a while, don’t try to be too ambitious.
  5. Change it up!  Running on a treadmill every workout can get extremely tedious.  Try doing other cardio workouts and have a different day for arms, legs, and abs.
  6. Reward yourself!  Set a goal each month and once that goal is reached go out to dinner or buy yourself a new outfit.  Little gestures like these will keep you going!

Get Active!
