New year, new organization habits! I have found that being more organized helps me manage my stress and makes me feel more in control of my life. Here are a few easy ways to have a more organized (and less stressed!) 2017.

  1. Buy a planner. This keeps you from missing appointments, lunch dates, and every other important event, and then helps keep you less stressed!26660e5ec02c094ea619609796b5aacd
  2. Keep your email cleaned up and organized. This will keep you from getting drowned and overwhelmed with emails.
  3. Deep-clean your desk and drawers to start fresh.
  4. Delete unnecessary apps on your phone to simplify your life.
  5. Donate any clothes that you haven’t worn in the last year. Go through your closet and take mental inventory so you know exactly what you have.
  6. Make it a habit to schedule time with friends at least once a week. Keep your friends closer and your friendships maintained!
  7. Meal-prep to make meals less stressful.
  8. Lay out your clothes the night before to avoid scrambling around.
  9. Throw away makeup products that you haven’t used in months. Purge!

I love being organized. It makes me feel like I have my life together. 🙂

Organizing your makeup stash can be fun, but also a bit overwhelming. Over the years, most of us accumulate a lot of beauty products. I get sent a lot of products to try, and keeping them all organized is quite the task. If you love makeup and beauty and have a pretty substantial collection, I have a few makeup organization tips to keep you from becoming overwhelmed. Here are my best organizational tips:

  1. Keep makeup brushes in drawers because they collect dust which can subsequently cause breakouts.download (1)
  2. Purchase a clear vanity organizer so that you can both store your makeup and keep it close so it is there when you need it. Also, makeup is pretty so this is a great way to both display and store it.
  3. Store eye and lip liners in a cup on your vanity so you won’t lose them somewhere in a drawer. Also, store them upside down so you can see the color stripe on the packaging so you can quickly determine what color they are.
  4. Go through your products regularly. If you aren’t using something, get rid of it! Also, check for expiration dates and throw away old stuff.
  5. Re-purpose household items to use on your vanity. Use old candle jars to hold things like lip glosses and eyeliners. It will save you money!
  6. If you need organization inspiration, look it up on YouTube! You will come away with so many ideas.
  7. If you have 2 of one product, put the duplicate in a travel bag so next time you go to travel you will already be one step ahead. This will also keep the duplicate product from cluttering up your drawer!

I love the feeling of being organized and having everything in a designated place, don’t you?

I recently stumbled across an awesome Christian-based organization that has a concept that is unlike any other company. It’s called Faithbox, and its idea is focused on growing your faith monthly but also making an impact on the world around you. Let me explain what their concept is all about!Chelsea Crockett - Faithbox

Faithbox is an organization that sends its subscribers a monthly package filled with different messages and products from Christian-based companies like the picture above. All of the boxes include a small devotion and a variety of products from sunglasses to yummy snacks, depending on the month. Each box along with its products supports a non-profit organization.

Not only does it support these companies, but kids around the world. Each box sent also accounts for three meals shipped to hungry children around the world. In 2015, Faithbox provided over 100,000 meals to kids worldwide! Not only are you receiving gifts for yourself but providing a different type of present to hungry children.

You’re benefitting yourself, people across the globe, and tons of non-profit Christian organizations! I urge you to try it out :)! You won’t regret it.

To some people, writing is as easy as breathing. They can sit down at their desk, open their laptop, and crank out a fabulous paper. For others, it is not that simple. For those people who aren’t natural born writers, having to write a paper can be miserable! With college coming up, there is a lot of paper writing looming. If you are someone who struggles with writing, here are a few tips that have helped me become a better writer.

  1. Stay organized: Once you know the topic you are supposed to write about and have researched it, organize a draft. Diagram out, using bullet points, what information will be in your intro, body paragraphs, and conclusion. This will help you during the writing process to see where you want to put what info so you don’t forget it! Or, if you are writing a blog, once you find your topic, figure out what you want your main points to be so you can focus your paper around them.2988317064_59c5818db7
  2. Know your audience: Are you writing for a professor? For a group of peers? For a scholarship? Know who you are writing to! Is the paper supposed to be serious? Humorous? Informative? Know the tone of the paper as well. Once you know your audience and tone, you can use your wording in your paper to relate to your audience and communicate your point.
  3. Get feedback: It can be scary asking for feedback, even if it is just from your mom or from a friend, because it could mean rejection or they could have a lot of corrections and make you feel silly. But, the only way to improve is to get feedback about what you could be doing better!
  4. Read!: How are you supposed to know what good writing looks like if you don’t read? Become a reader. It will help you know what style of writing you like best, and will teach you how to become better!

Just like any skill, writing takes practice! Becoming a great writer is not impossible, and it is a great skill to have! You can do it!

Life can get pretty crazy at times and it’s easy to lose yourself amongst all of the chaos.  Unfortunately, too many people let themselves get more and more out of hand instead of doing something about it!  Whether it’s in a relationship, with your group of friends, school, work, or your home life, taking control of your life is very important. Chelsea Crockett- stay off social media

Staying off social media for a while can be a healthy cleanse for the mind.  Between Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc., it’s so easy to get caught up in all the drama.  Try deleting the apps from your phone making it easier to stay away from them.  It’s important to tune into the real world and focus on what’s really going on in life.  Another great way to get your life back in order is to be honest.  When something is bothering, don’t hold all that frustration in.  Talk to others about what is going on.  It’s better to get your feelings out than to hold a grudge.

When it comes to school and work, the best way to stay sane is to be organized.  Write everything down, keep a planner, and do not hesitate to ask questions.  Too many people are afraid to ask their boss or teacher questions to point them in the right direction.  DON’T!  It’ll make your life so much easier!

You’re the boss of your life, so make changes that’ll make yourself happy!

I love you all!

Chelsea

Every girl dreams of having the perfect wardrobe, fully stocked with adorable clothes for every occasion. Am I right? Today I am going to give youi some tips on how to build the wardrobe of your dreams!

Step 1: Clean Up!

*Clean up your room. Going through your closet in an already messy room will just create a big, exasperating, overwhelming disaster. Clean up your room and make space to lay out your clothes.

*Clean up yourself. Do your hair and make up! When you try on clothes, anything you try on will look better if you’re looking good too!

Step 2: Get To Work!Chelsea crockett how to build a wardrobe

*Pick out a basic top & bottom, like jeans and a white tee, to try on with your pieces. If you’re trying on a top, wear the jeans and vice versa with the white tee.

* Go through one category at a time. I recommend you do all tops at once, all skirts, and so on. It’s easier to determine if you have duplicates or similar pieces. This also helps you from getting overwhelmed!

*Start with the clothes you don’t need to try on. These may be closet staples like black & white tanks/tees, uniforms, that sort of thing. Put them in the STAY pile. Things that are stained, ripped, damaged, move them to the GO pile.

Step 3: Go Through Your Piles!

*If you ended up with a lot of items in your stay pile, try and re-evaluate. Be realistic! You’re trying to build a wardrobe you love!

*Divide your GO pile into pieces that need to be thrown away, donated, and sold.

Don’t be overwhelmed with cleaning out your closet! Try doing just one or two categories of clothes in a day rather than everything in one sitting. Once you get the hang of cleaning things out, it will become easier to part with pieces. I know I sometimes have a hard time getting rid of clothing because I think “You never know, someday I might need this!” but when the going gets tough, just remember, you’re working towards building a wardrobe you love with clothes you’ll be excited to wear every day! You can do it, ladies!

Whether your closet is large or small, walk-in or a sliding door, it’s important to use your space wisely.  Too many teenagers find it easy to throw all of their clothes in their closet without actually folding them or hanging them up.  It can also be easy to throw all of your shoes in one big pile up!  I’ll confess I’m guilty of all of this!  Lately, I’ve been organizing my closet and have found it to be so much easier than I had imagined!  Check out my tips for utilizing your closet…the right way!Chelsea Crockett- color coded closet

  1. Command strips are your best friend. Hang them everywhere! They’re perfect for hanging purses, scarves, hats, etc.
  2. Find the right hangers and get rid of your old metal ones. Metal hangers make it easy for your clothes to constantly fall off. Try velvet hangers, or ones with arm slits. This way you won’t have to worry about fixing your clothes.
  3. Try grouping your clothes! Whether it’s by color or style, next time you’re looking for a specific shirt or dress, you’ll know right where it is!
  4. Slide your belt buckle over the top hook and hang for the perfect belt display!
  5. Try using dividers in your drawers to keep items like underwear, socks, and bras separate. Now you won’t be digging to find what you need!
  6. If you have a large gap or extra space in your closet, try throwing up a tension rod. This will add more space to hang clothes!

By trying a few of these tips, I promise…you will soon have a stress free closet!  Good luck organizing!

Chelsea

Organization is the key to a stress-free work and school environment.  Too many people have papers flying everywhere, dates not written down, and a busy schedule.  It’s important to live an organized life in order to get things done without a hassle.  If you follow these simple organizational tips, I promise your life will be a breeze!Chelsea Crockett- organization

  • Keep a planner or use your calendar app!  Write down anything and everything that is important, an event, or something that is due.  Deadlines are important!
  • Give yourself a break!  If you work too much you will start to go crazy!  Give yourself a 10 minute break each hour to surf the web, talk to friends, or grab a snack!
  • Establish a junk drawer!  Everyone has those papers, supplies, and random things that they have no idea what to do with.  If you have one solid area that you store all of that, then they won’t end up all over your desk!
  • DO NOT procrastinate.  This is the number one reason people get stressed out and unorganized.  Do your assignments or projects as they are assigned to you so you can focus on one thing at a time.
  • Make your work space pretty!  When you have a work space that you are proud of, you are less likely to get it messy.

Staying organized is important for the road to success.  It’s also important for your sanity.  Keep it all together and you’ll start to see a difference!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Whenever you are cleaning out your closet, it would be totally helpful to have some guidelines and pointers, am I right?Today I am going to give you a few questions to ask yourself while you are cleaning out your closet that will hopefully make the process go easier and smoother!
1.  Does it fit me right now? – We all have those items in our closet that we say “when I lose a few pounds, THEN ill be able to fit into it”, but unless it’s within 1 size (2 max) from your current size, let it go to a new home! Don’t get me wrong, having clothes that give you motivation to work out and lose weight are great, but make sure that they are a realistic size!

2. Is it flattering? – Just because something ‘fits’ does not mean that it is flattering. Does the color wash you out? Does the fabric give you lumps & bumps? If so, let it go! You want to wear clothes that make you look and feel confident and beautiful!chelsea crockett closet organization

3.Do I love it? Would I re-buy it? – I know you are not over the moon for every single piece of clothing in your closet, but if you don’t love it anymore, put it in the GO pile! The other question to ask yourself is “If I was at a store and saw this piece of clothing, would I buy it again?” If not, say bye bye!

4. Will I actually wear it?  Does it fit my lifestyle? – We have all bought that fab skirt or daring heels thinking we would find somewhere to wear them. Years later, they’re still in the closet, collecting dust, with the tags still on them. Donate them to a resale shop and give someone else a chance to rock ’em!

Good luck cleaning out your closets ladies!

Hey darlings!  In my opinion, organization is the key to everything, especially when trying to keep your room clean.  We ALL struggle with this, but with a few tips it’s not as hard as you think to keep your room clean!

  1. Hanging Space.  If you have a large amount of clothes, try buying smaller hangers.  Avoiding big, bulky hangers will provide more space for your actual clothes.  Try dividing your clothes up into categories (sweaters, jackets/coats, shirts, etc…).  This will make it easier to find things and disappear that cluttered closet look.Chelsea Crockett - Organization
  2. Shoes and Purses.  Having a separate spot for your bags and shoes is a smart idea.  This will help you avoid throwing and shoving your things repeatedly in your closet.  We all know it starts to get overwhelming when your stuff piles in the floor of your closet.  Plus, it looks super messyFrown!
  3. Fold Your Clothes.  If you fold certain clothes such as plain T-shirts or hoodies, make sure you avoid piling.  Throwing your clothes into boxes, cubbies, or shelves will result in lots of clutter.  Make sure you keep your things neat and folded!
  4.  Cubbies.  Almost anywhere you can find cubbies or boxes to place your clothing.  Hanging shelves or cubbies are a perfect spot to put shoes or your folded tees for perfect organization.

As far as other accessories go, come up with a creative way to keep your things organized that works for you.  I hope these tips help you stay clean, organized, and clutter-free!

I adore scarves. There is nothing better than a stylish scarf to top off any ensemble! The only problem with them? They are a pain to store! Well, not anymore! I have a handy dandy tip to help make storing your stylish scarves a breeze!

What you will need:

 –          Your favorite scarves

011edit

–          Some hangers

–          Shower curtain rings

That is all you will need! Just take the plastic shower curtain rings and hook them around the bottom of the hanger. Then, loop your scarf through the ring! Easy peasy! You can fit about 6/7 scarves on 1 hanger, so if you are a scarf hog like me and have more than 7, just make another hanger! These handy scarf hangers are great because they fit easily inside your closet or on a hook on the wall, and they are so so cheap to make!

If being more organized was on your list of New Year’s resolutions, then this is a great place to start!

Conquer Back to School Stress

Hi Insiders,

Unfortunately, school is coming up soon.  I am definitely starting to feel the back to school blues.  Between homework, sports, and clubs, it’s hard to find enough time for yourself during the day.  My stress level can get to an all-time high!  I’m going to give you a few tips to beat the back to school stress and enjoy your time more often.Chelsea Crockett- back to school

  1. It’s good to get involved, but not too involved.  As a student, everyone wants to be involved in everything.  Clubs and sports are so competitive these days that everyone wants to be the captain or president.  Many students join too many clubs or sports and seem to get over-whelmed between that and school work.  Try to pick and choose between what you join.  Give yourself time for homework and yourself.
  2. Don’t wait till the last minute to do homework or projects.  Just because you have a week for an essay doesn’t mean to wait until the night before.  That’s just calling for stress!  Do a few paragraphs a night or work 30 minutes a night on a project until the due date.  This way you won’t feel overwhelmed all at once!
  3. Stay organized!  As nerdy as it may sound, I love my planner!  If you use it correctly, you won’t forget about a project or event you have to do.  I promise it helps!

It’s cool to care about school and yourself.  Don’t let things get to you and cause you stress.  Be smart and enjoy your school year!

Back to School: Ways to Organize Your Locker

Hey everyone!  We don’t want to accept it, but school is coming up faster than we think.  Staying organized is one of the biggest things we need to do to succeed throughout the year.  Whether you’re in high school or grade school, you will most likely have a locker to be responsible for keeping it clean and organized.

Chelsea Crockett - LockerFirst off, dividing and keeping your books in a certain spot each day is a good way to quickly know which book to grab before class.  Buying locker shelves or dividers are perfect for organizing your books, binders, and notebooks.  Click here to check out Amazon’s selection of locker accessories!  To help remember which books are which, try organizing them alphabetically, by color, or in order of your classes.  This will help you easily remember which books to throw in your backpack before class.

Another fun tip is to keep a small whiteboard on the side of your locker.  This way you can write notes, reminders, and needed homework for the next day or for what to take home.  Every once and a while remember to take out any old and unneeded homework or papers.  A cluttered locker leads to an unorganized one!

Hope this makes going back to school a little easier!

                                                Love, Chelsea
