2014 was a year full of fun, stylish trends. Whether it was a crop set outfit with a pair of knee-high boots or edgy DIY shorts and converse, this year’s trends are sure to top even the cutest of 2014. So, what’s going to be hot (or not!) in the New Year? Here are a few predictions made by fashion magazines and icons across the planet!

Chelsea Crockett - Suede JacketAccording to Vogue, suede should be making a killer comeback! This material is different from most, with its warm, fuzzy cloth. It has a vintage look to it that’s classy and mature like the jacket on the left! Another look that is expected to pop up in the spring, is dark denim. Jean, jean, and more jean! Keep an eye out and you might just notice it in every fashion magazine :)!

Indy style was huge last year. Now the Bohemian style is making its mark! Colorful patterns and bright colors are great for the summer. Layering jewelry such as dangle necklaces and bracelets is another fashion statement brought from 2014 to ’15. So cute!

According to Glamour, one-shoulder shirts and dresses are coming back into the fashion world for spring and summer. Soon they’ll be in almost any store at the mall :)! Colors such as army green and yellow are both expected to be seen on the runways throughout the year.

So… pay attention to your fashion magazines and style blogs and you might just see these trends when you least expect it!

Since I am traveling to and from New York this next month, I thought these travel tips would be great to share! Today I am going to help you master the art of traveling with style. It is a tricky talent to tackle, but we will get through it together.  The best advice I can give you is to dress in layers.  This way if you get hot or cold on the airplane or in the car you can just peel of a layer and still be looking cute. Another big bit of advice is to wear shoes that are easy to take off, and that are super comfortable to walk in. They need to be easy to take off so you don’t get caught up in the security line trying to hassle with your shoes. There’s always that girl who wears the boots with 12 million buckles and laces and takes 20 minutes just to take her shoes off at the security checkpoint. Don’t be that girl! Also, if you are traveling by car, wearing shoes that are easy to take off is a must so that you can remove them while riding in the car, but then slip them back on when you stop for food or at a rest stop.

Now what you wear also depends on the climate of your destination and the climate at your starting place. If you are starting out in a warm climate and traveling to a cold climate, then you are going to want to wear something very versatile. On your way to the airport and at the airport you can be wearing blue jeans and a v-neck with a neutral tank underneath. Then once you reach your frigid destination you can pull on a sweater over your shirt and then pair a cute coat over that and you are good to go! Another option is to start out with your jeans rolled up as capris, and then when you land you can roll them down. If you are driving the same rules apply!36ad7cf18115437fbfcf13f910cacf56

If you are traveling from cold to warm I also recommend dressing in layers. While at your starting point you can wear a pair of warm leggings with a warm oversized sweater and cozy booties. Under the sweater you can layer a stylish v-neck and cozy tank. Once you get to your destination you can pull off your sweater and be ready to go!80713018292143726O421OP4Vc

When you are traveling from cold climates to cold climates or warm climates to warm climates it is much easier to choose what to wear. Just keep it cozy! Have a blast, wherever your whereabouts may take you.

Safe travels!

When I think of fall I imagine big sweaters, pumpkin lattes, bonfires, and of course, football games!  Dressing for a football game can be tough with the fall weather.  It can be hot while the sun is out, but get cooler as the night goes on.  Keep on reading as I break down my favorite outfit for football season!Chelsea Crockett- quilted vest

It’s important not to dress too light or too heavy.  Instead, try wearing layers that can be taken on or off depending on the weather.  During September and October, I prefer to wear skinny jeans and my school spirit tee!  If you’re wearing a long sleeve tee, try pairing it with a quilted vest to add a little extra style to your outfit.  If you’re wearing a tank or short sleeve shirt, bring along an oversized sweater or flannel to throw on over your shirt.  Investing in a black and white flannel will help take your fashion game to a new level.  Adding a flannel to a spirit shirt adds depth to your outfit, plus the black and white matches everything!

Once your outfit is complete, pick out a pair of sandals or boots (depending on the weather), add some accessories, you can even wear a chunky necklace to dress up your look, and head to the game!  No matter what age you are, football season is always a wonderful time of the year!

XOXO,

Chelsea

Your alarm clock goes off, your running late, and you have nooooo idea what to wear. I’ve been in this situation more times then I care to admit, and over time I have come up strategies to come up with something to wear in a pinch.

1.     Pick your shoes first: Shoes are a vital part of any outfit. They have an impact on how you function throughout the day. Plan your outfit around your shoes. On the weekends, wear fun shoes, and on week days, wear practical shoes! Choose shoes that make sense for your day.

2.     Lay it out: Lay your outfits out the night before. This way, you can know if the colors and patterns work and you are prepared. When you are running late in the mornings, it is a huge relief to already have your outfit ready to go.large

3.     Repeat a past outfit, with a few modifications: There is no shame to repeating an outfit! If you don’t want to totally repeat it, just make a few modifications such as switching out shoes or accessories. When you are in a rush, turn to old favorites. If it aint broke, don’t fix it!

Use these tips for when you are running behind and still want to dress to impress!

I love maxi skirts! Even better? You can rock ‘em in the spring! There are quite a few different ways that you can style them, and here are a few examples:spring maxi skirt

  1. Tank and leather jacket: If it is still a little chilly, this outfit is the best. Pair a white tank with your favorite bold colored maxi skirt and a leather jacket. The jacket will keep you warm, while the skirt and tank will keep you cool.
  2. Denim shirt: I love this look. Grab a light colored maxi, like coral or light purple, and pair it with a denim button up. Perfect combo of cute and casual!
  3. Loose white tee: if you are out and about running errands, you can toss on a loose white v-neck and your breezy maxi skirt and off you go!

I am so excited to break out my maxi skirts this spring. Are you?

Hold on folks, because here comes…what NOT to wear when meeting his parents!

Okay, ladies. Let’s start off with the makeup. Do NOT cake on the makeup. Don’t wear crazy colors or super thick eyeliner, you want them to see you for you! Wear makeup that accents your natural assets. When choosing what shades to wear, neutrals are ALWAYS safe. Go for a light smokey eye and brush on a little blush! Next, do NOT wear a mini skirt or booty shorts. I know that this is a “duuuhhh” for most of you, but I just wanted to point it out! Modest is hottest 🙂Chelsea Crockett

Wear bottoms that come just at or below your knees. Bermuda shorts or ankle pants are always a safe bet! Also, don’t wear items that make you uncomfortable. You don’t want to be fidgeting with your bra strap or pulling your skirt down, you want to be focused on his parents! And finally, do NOT wear low cut shirts. Your boyfriend’s mom does not want to see down your shirt, trust me! (Plus, how totally awkward would THAT be! Im just lookin out for ya!)

Just remember ladies, be confident! Show them the real you. What’s not to love!?

Meeting your boyfriend’s parents can be super nerve-wracking. You want them to like you and you want to make a great impression! Today I am going to tell you what to wear when you meet the parents. If you are confident in how you look then your body language will show it!

Now, to be completely honest with ya, I think you can never go wrong with a sweet, conservative look when you meet the parents. Going the classy route is a smart, safe choice. You want to show them that their son is dating a respectable young lady! Wear something that you are comfortable in and that won’t make you fidget. Wear a top with a high neckline or a cute collar! That does

Peter-Pan-collar chelsea crockett

n’t mean to break out that dusty old turtle neck you hide in the back of your closet, it just means to wear something that doesn’t display your chest (if ya know what I mean). Peter pan collars are always a great idea! They add class and taste to any outfit. If you are meeting them in a warm climate, make sure that your skirt/dress/shorts are an appropriate length. Add pieces to your outfit that reflect your personality! If you are super spunky, throw a cute leather jacket over your ensemble. If you are a vintage sort of girl, toss some retro jewelry into the mix. You want to give his parents a glimpse of who you are!

Here’s a summary of what I would wear: If it were warm outside I would wear a cute casual dress and my combat boots. Simple but totally adorable! I would dress it up with some simple accent  jewelry.

So there you have it! Just remember to be yourself when you meet the parents. You want them to like you for you! Show them your awesome personality. Let your beauty and personal style be the added bonus that gives you confidence and makes you feel good about yourself. I have faith in you!

Now that you know what to wear on a first date, let me fill you in on what NOT to wear.  To begin, try not to go overboard…

Now that you know what to wear on a first date, let me fill you in on what NOT to wear.

To begin, try not to go overboard with any part of your outfit. Don’t choose any item that is too flashy or gaudy. For example, you know that neon yellow graphic tee you keep hidden in the back of your closet? Do not reach for it when going on a first date! When you are picking out jewelry, choose items that accent your outfit and personality, not that overtake your outfit or are too chunky. Wear simple pieces that mean something to you, because if he compliments you on it you can use that as a conversation starter! Genius!

When you are applying makeup, go for the natural look and accent your features. Wearing too much makeup can send the wrong message and doesn’t show your date the real you! Wear neutral eyeliner and a plain lipgloss. Wait until the 3rd or 4th to break out that rockin red lipstick. When you are picking out your outfit, don’t choose anything too revealing or flashy. Go for natural tones and subtle patterns! Don’t wear a shirt or shorts that you will be adjusting or fixing the whole night, wear something that fits you well and makes you feel confident! Also, make sure those bra straps stay hidden! Make sure you feel good about what you are wearing, because the last thing you want to be worrying about on your date is how you look, you want to be focused on your man!

I know you guys will look totally gorgeous on your first date. Just be yourself!

Ever been on a first date? Odds are, if you have, you stood in front of your closet and thought “I have nothing to wear! HELP!” Have no fear, Chelsea is here with all you need to know about what to wear on a first date.

First things first, make sure you pick out your outfit the night before.  You don’t want to be thinking about it all day, and running around your room 15 minutes before your date is supposed to pick you up because you cannot find your favorite pair of jeans with the rhinestones on the pockets! Having your outfit picked out the night before will make you feel more prepared and ready for your date! what to wear on a first date chelsea crockett

When you are dressing for your date, make sure that what you are wearing reflects you and your personality. You want your date to know who you are! Wear colors that compliment your skin tone and make your eyes pop. Also, wear jewelry that accents your outfit, but doesn’t overtake it. Wear makeup that accents your natural beauty and accents your favorite parts of your appearance.

If you are going on a date in the fall or winter months, wear trendy layers and pretty scarves that match your eyes. Also, you can never go wrong with a fab pair of dark skinny jeans and your favorite riding boots! If you are going on a date in the summer time, make sure to wear shorts or dresses that are appropriate length. Guys like respectable girls!

The very last accessory you will need is a smile. Wearing a smile shows you have confidence in yourself! Also, whatever you wear, make sure you feel confident. A guy will be able to tell if you are uncomfortable, and actions speak louder than words.

Now go knock em dead, ladies!

            Hello darlings!

As we know, Selena Gomez is not only a world-famous singer and actress, but a fashion icon to girls around the globe.  Although many of her clothes and accessories cost a fortune, Chelsea Crockett - Selenayou can find look-a-like clothing with a much smaller price tag.  Keep reading to see where you can find this outfit for an acceptable price!

For the hat, you can find a gray beanie at Target for only $10-15.  As for the scarf, you can grab one at Nordstrom or Charlotte Russe.  The black sunglasses are also a super easy find.  You can grab a pair at Urban Outfitters.  If you want a nicer pair, purchase Ray Bans.  Although they’re expensive, they’re perfect for a Christmas wish list.

Of course, Forever 21 has almost anything, so you can find a similar looking blue sweatshirt there.  If you have trouble finding one, substituting an oversized blue long sleeved shirt will work just fine.  As for the black pants, Target, Forever 21, and almost anywhere you look will carry themJ.  Look-a-like boots can be found at DSW or Famous Footwear.

And last but not least, where to find her expensive handbag.  You can find an almost identical one at Forever 21 for only $14!  Hope this helped create your stylish look!

Travel in Style: Winter 2013!

Hi Lovelies,

The holiday season is one of the most popular times to travel.  Lines are longer, layovers are more often, and everyone’s engaging in the hustle and bustle.  It can be a crazy time!  So how can you travel during the holidays while still looking stylish?  Here are a few great ways to look chic, while making your way through the airport.

Leggings are a girl’s best friend!  They are the simplest clothing item to dress up or down and be worn almost anywhere.  For a long plane ride especially, break out your favorite pair of leggings, an over-sized sweater, and boots.  Add accessories like an over-sized scarf or beanie for extra warmth and comfort.  Even try a pair of long socks that stick out the top of your boots.Chelsea Crockett- airport style

If you’re going on a short plane ride, go for a more stylish outfit.  Try rocking your favorite pair of skinny’s, riding boots, and a pea coat.  For a little more privacy, try a hat and pair of sunglasses.  You’ll feel like a total celebrity!  For more added style, try customizing your luggage.  Monogrammed luggage tags are an easy way to find your luggage at the baggage claim and are super cute!  If you’re going out of the country, try a passport cover!  They come in all colors and patterns and add an extra touch to your ticket out of the country.  Even try tying a bright bow to your luggage to find your bag quick and easy.

Traveling to a new destination is so exciting; being stylish while doing it is even better!  Follow my airport outfit guide for chic airplane travel.  Oh, and don’t forget to bring your favorite magazines for enjoyment! Happy Holidays and travel safe!

Love,

Hey Insiders!

I love shoes. They can take an outfit from being just average to being jaw dropping. They put the finishing touches on any ensemble. Today we are going to take a look at what summer shoes are a must for any wardrobe.

     Flip Flops:

Flip flops come in so many different colors and styles that you are bound to find at least one pair that you fall in love with and that goes with everything. Whether they are silver and sparkly or neon pink with studs, you can always find a pair that suits you. Flip flops are also super comfy.  They are usually cheap, too, so you can buy a pair for every outfit 😉 Collage

     Wedges:

Wedges add class to any ensemble. They come in all heights and styles! You can get anything from peep toed to strappy sandal-like wedges. They come in anything from tribal prints to sweet pastel colors. Pair these with a cute sundress or summer skirt

 Strappy Sandals:

These are a good step between casual sandals and formal wedges. They can be worn to anything from school to church to a day out with friends. I especially love the sandals that have a little strap over your toe. They are unique and make a statement! Strappy sandals are a practical, comfortable choice of shoe for the summer time. They can be worn at both casual and classy events. Collage1

Your shoes tell people about you. They can be a way to express your personal style and personality.

Strut your stuff, ladies!

Hello lovelies!

Memorial Day is fast approaching! Today I am going to give you some suggestions on how to look your best on this special day! Whether you are hanging out with friends, throwing a party, or just chilling with your family, I am here to make sure you are looking fab this Memorial Day.

I don’t know if you all know this, but I am really loving the high-waisted shorts trend. They are so adorable and give you a retro look. Search for a pair here:http://tiny.cc/HighWaistedShorts!  You can pair a white or red shirt with a pair of high-waisted shorts for a casual look on Memorial Day. You could also rock an American Flag printed pair like the ones shown in the picture below. Love em! Throw on a pair of white or red sneakers or strappy sandals to complete the look. This outfit is perfect if you plan on hanging out with your friends and keeping things low key.

Another outfit idea is to sport a sweet sundress. Sundresses are ideal when it comes to staying cool while enduring hot weather because they are so loose and flowy. If you are attending a barbecue or an outdoor event, this is your best choice. Not only are sundresses classic and adorable, they are also super comfy. I suggest wearing a sundress that is either white or is accented in patriotic colors for this occasion. Throw on a pair of classy wedge sandals and the outfit is complete! Need help picking out a dress? Check out my example below!

Chelsea Crockett

And finally, accessories! A sure way to spruce up any outfit is to add nail color. Paint your nails red or stripe them with white and blue! Another way to add a patriotic splash to your ensemble is to pucker up and apply bright red lipstick. Red lipstick adds character to any outfit!

Memorial Day is about honoring those who have given their lives for our country. On this day we thank the men and women who have sacrificed so much for the freedom and safety of this country. Have a blast this Memorial Day!

Love, Chels
