Turn Your Burdens into Breakthroughs

Burdens can weigh so heavily on our hearts. They stay there and can make us feel a variety of different feelings such as guilt, regret, sadness, and so much more.

Jesus knows our hearts and the burdens we carry so heavily day in and day out. He understands our struggles and our downfalls and wants to take them and carry them himself. When we let our burdens overpower us, we easily forget who God his and what his word says.

Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

This verse gives us one of God’s many promises. If we come to him, he will give us rest. God wants to take these burdens and turn them into breakthroughs by allowing us to run to him with open arms. We need to remember that God is our loving Father who wants to turn our weaknesses into triumphs.

If you need a little more convincing, take a look at 2 Corinthians 12:9. It says, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Maybe you’re coming from a place of regret. This area of your life is a weakness that keeps resurfacing over and over again, causing pain, sadness, and even loneliness. You push others away because you don’t want to burden them with the burdens of your own. Sound even slightly familiar?

When we have these burdens, God uses his mighty power to turn them into victories. You may not see it now, but wait a week, a month, or maybe even a year down the road, and you’ll see how God has used your burdens to shape you into who you are today.

Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your burdens on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.”

We’re only human, which explains why we let our burdens take such a hold on our lives. Maybe your burdens keep you up at night, thinking you can never be good enough. Maybe they cause you to push people out of your life and keep a distance from those you love. No matter the extremity of it, burdens keep us from being who God designed for us to be.

It’s okay to feel the pain of them, but it’s not okay to let them run your life. Learn the truth of what God says! His word provides more comfort than any worldly source or temporary satisfaction.

You are loved and made perfect in his image. What may seem like a burden to you may be an opportunity for God to take that and turn it into something great. 🙂

Make Humility a Habit

“Humble yourselves, then, under God’s mighty hand, so that He will lift you up in His own good time. Leave all your worries with Him, because He cares for you.”…

Humble yourselves, then, under God’s mighty hand, so that He will lift you up in His own good time. Leave all your worries with Him, because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7

Humility is a learned trait. It’s something that doesn’t come easily for most of us. Whether it be humility toward God, humility toward our friends, or humility toward the people around us, it’s something that we have to be conscious of to actually put into practice.

There are so many situations in which humility should come into play. You may think you’re almost always humble, but I never realized how much I could actually grow in this area of my life.

Humility Toward God

Having humility toward God is a concept I never really understood until I got a little bit older. I always wanted to take control of every situation and plan out my own life instead of letting God do that for me.

God wants us to get rid of our pride and be humble in knowing that we can’t be Him ourselves. When we humble ourselves, we enable God to come into our lives and transform it under his sole power. So, let God take control. It’s always better that way!

Humility Toward Friends

When we’re around our friends, it can be easy to boast about the good and successful things in our lives. It could be about your new boyfriend or a good grade you got on a test. Finding a balance between bragging and informing is the solution to humility in these situations!

What are your intentions for what you’re about to say? Knowing the “why” behind your words is important to assure that you’re staying humble around people that are closest to you. Are you telling them about your good grade because you’re trying to “one up” your friend that always aces her tests? Consider your intentions every time!

Humility Toward Society

Social media can be a number one contributor as to how people view you as a person. Think of how many people you know solely through Instagram, Twitter, or other social media platforms. They really only know you by how you perceive yourself online!

You’ve probably heard this over a million times, but we need to watch what we post on social media. It seems like so much of it has turned into showing off our lives and boasting about what we’re doing or where we’re going. Stay humble even through what you post! Use your platform to spread love and positivity. Talk about what’s going on in the world. Discuss your favorite things. Think outside of the box!

Humility takes a conscious effort to achieve. Think of how you can apply these different things to your own life. What areas do you struggle in most?

Ask God to make you humble. Ask him to show you what you can work on to gain humility in all areas of your life. Ask him for knowledge to know the difference between confidence and boastfulness. Simply praying to him helps you every step of the way! What’s stopping you?

Grace is a word that I’ve heard time and time again. But if you were to sit three people down and ask them to define it, you would probably get three different answers.

A lot of people think grace is the same thing as forgiveness. Although it may be similar at times, there’s more to grace then just forgiving a person for something they did wrong.

A lot of people think grace is the same thing as mercy. Once again, although it may be similar, grace is more than simply showing mercy to someone who may not deserve it.

If you want the dictionary’s definition of grace, it defines it as “the free and unmerited favor of God.” In other words, God’s free, unearned, undeserved favor. What’s more beautiful than that?

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.”

In other words, we have been saved by Jesus Christ because God had favor on His children. He loves us so much that he sent his son to save us. We have his divine favor that is given to us as his perfect gift. According to the verse, we can’t be saved through pointless works and deeds. We can only be saved through our faith in Him!

2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

After knowing the true definition of grace, these verses make me smile. God, the creator of the entire universe, gives us His favor. This verse from Corinthians is one of my favorites because it explains that even though we are weak, through Him we are strong.

We can boast about our weaknesses because we have God’s favor and power over us, which is far greater than any weakness that tries to bring us down.

There’s a quote about God’s grace that has always stuck with me. It says, “You may not think that you’re good enough, but God’s grace and love are bigger than who you think you are.”

We are so undeserving of God’s grace, but he gives it to us freely, without thought, especially when we don’t deserve it.

With the grace of God, we are unstoppable.

Think of what this means for you. Knowing you have God’s favor over your life, where will you go from here? Take note of the weaknesses in your life and remember you have the power of God resting in you. Let the grace of God lead you into something great.

Has someone ever said something to you that lingers in your head and repeats itself over and over again?

This shows the power of words. Hurtful words can take a toll on your mind, heart, and entire being. They stick with you and can be hard to forget if they hit hard enough.

God has a lot to say about the power of words throughout the Bible. He gives us advice on how to watch our mouths and prayers to pray to help us think before we speak.

When words are spoken, they are a reflection of the heart. If you’re bitter and jealous, your words will show that. If you’re happy and joyful, it’ll reflect through the way you speak to others.

Take a look at Matthew 12:33-34 for example.

It says, “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit… For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

If you struggle with jealousy, anger, bitterness, etc., it shows through your words. An angry heart will speak angry words, just like a bad tree will bear bad fruit.

This is an important message that the Bible is trying to make clear to us. Your true colors will show through the way you speak! Your words are more powerful than you think and others take note of them.

So, how do we make sure our words are used for good instead of bad?

First, we need to learn patience and gratitude. We need to be able to think before we speak to ensure that what we’re saying is the right thing. James 1:19 says this: “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry…”

Take the time to listen to what others are saying to you. Listen, think, and then respond. Think of how Jesus would respond to the situation! If he wouldn’t say it, then you probably shouldn’t say it either.

I think it all comes back to the golden rule: do unto others as you would like to be treated. Or in this case: speak to others as you would like to be spoken to.

Be a listening ear. Compliment others. Show kindness. You are what you say! Your positivity and kindness will be contagious, and others will take notice.

Speak from a godly heart and show others the contagious love of Jesus Christ. You’ll see a difference in how others respond to you.

Be a listener and an encourager and see how your perspective changes!

An overload of work at school, drama with your best friends, and too many commitments can really suck the life out of you.  It’s hard to find time to reflect and spend quality time with yourself when every hour of your day is taken.  When you’re constantly on the go, it’s easy to take life for granted and pass up the little things, like telling your parents you love them when you leave the house or thank you after dinner.  Life can get crazy, but it’s important to stay true to yourself and enjoy life.Chelsea Crockett- life is good

The word “no” is very powerful.  It’s so easy to say yes to a thousand things which can make life busy.  Don’t over commit yourself.  Instead, say yes to a few things, so you can dedicate more of your time to them.  This way, you’ll be able to give 110% without getting over whelmed.  The word “no” is also very powerful when it comes to your group of friends.  Picking your friends is very important.  It’s easy to fall into the wrong group and get caught up in things you shouldn’t.  The effects of your friends can be ever-lasting.  Don’t let a wrong decision determine the rest of your life.  Be around people that uplift your soul, make you happy, and benefit you.

Every once in a while, have a day for yourself.  Watch your favorite movie over and over again, go on a shopping spree, or enjoy a cup of tea while admiring God’s works.  Life is SO good, so don’t let it pass you up!  Be happy and do things that uplift your soul, for the Lord our God is so good!

I love you all!

Winston Churchill once said, “Attitude is a little thing that makes a BIG difference.”   When you think about that…it is so true!   A negative attitude can be power draining.   A positive attitude, on the other hand, can help you enjoy a happy and fulfilling life.  It can put you in a good position with others.  No one wants to be around someone that is always complaining and fault finding.Chelsea Crockett - Power in Positivity

All of us need to change our attitude at times and all that takes is changing the way we think!  When the going gets tough…just realizing that this too shall pass and just saying  “Oh well”….can really help us to keep things in perspective.  Try not to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Most importantly, stay in touch with God.  He’s the One who sees the big picture and orchestrates everything around us.  Make your time with Him an important part of your daily schedule.  Do your best to communicate with Him through prayer, reading your Bible and worship.   Do your best to be a positive person.   The more positive you are….the more powerful you are!
