Growing up, I’ve been fortunate enough to have multiple role models and godly women to look up to in my life.
I’ve witnessed the way they speak to others, the way they not only talk the talk but walk the walk, and the way they carry themselves daily. It’s something I’ve always taken notice of and want to apply to my own life.
I thought about the characteristics and qualities about these women that make them stand out among the rest. There are 5 habits in particular that are not only backed up by scripture but easy to apply to your own life!
- She puts God above all else.
Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you.”
Putting God before school, relationships, our own desires, and so much more is so important. Once we learn to put God as our highest priority, everything else falls into place.
- She makes time for herself.
Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Setting apart time for yourself and for God is something you need to do in order to grow closer to Him and find out who you are in Christ!
Set apart a half an hour a day or more to give your undivided attention to God. It’s important to discover your true identity in Christ and in Christ alone!
- She treats her body like a temple.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.
Ladies! We should learn to respect ourselves and our bodies. God created us so uniquely and perfectly, and we should use our bodies to honor Him! What an amazing way to glorify him and his creations.
- She’s content in her singleness.
1 Corinthians 7:32,35 says, “I would like you to be free from concern… I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.”
Oftentimes, singleness is made out to be such a bad thing. But when we’re single and focusing solely on ourselves, we can work on self-growth and strengthening our relationship with God!
Consider it a gift. For most of us, there’s only so many years left of true singleness. Take advantage of them and be truly content in the waiting!
- She practices selflessness.
Philippians 2:4 says, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
When we learn to put the needs of others before our own desires, our attitude completely changes. We learn to extend a hand and help those we never thought we could’ve.
What other habits have you noticed in the lives of godly women? There are so many more qualities and characteristics that you can take note of to adapt to your own life!
Practice each of these habits daily and see what God does in your life!
