Well guys, the time we wait for all school year is almost here… SUMMER!  I am so excited for the warm weather, sleeping in, and for lots of big plans coming up.  That being said, warm weather means lots of sun and catching some rays.  My skin can be super sensitive when it comes to picking the right facial sunscreens, so here are some of my favorites for summer!

  • Coppertone Sensitive Skin Faces Sunscreen SPF 50 ($7.49). Che;sea Crockett - CeraVe Sunscreen If you want a product that’s both cheap and effective, try out Coppertone!  Coppertone is a good brand if you have super sensitive skin.  It’s extremely gentle and won’t dry out your face.
  • Garnier SkinActive Moisture Bomb the Antioxidant Super Moisturizer ($17).  Garnier’s Moisture Bomb will take care of those annoying dry patches of skin that might be bothering you.  It’s not called the Moisture Bomb for nothing!
  • CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen ($20.69).  If you want a double-purpose cream that works as a moisturizer and a sunscreen, try using CeraVe’s renewing cream.  The sun can oftentimes dry out your skin, so having this on hand is never a bad idea!
  • It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+ ($38).  If you’re looking for a good sunscreen that acts as a foundation as well, then this is the product for you.  You can take care of your blemishes and sun protection in one step!

Is there a specific product that’s your go-to facial sunscreen?  Share with me below and I might give it a try! 🙂

Summer is right around the corner, which means that sunburn season is on its way!  Sometimes sunburns are hard to avoid even when you apply the proper amount of sunscreen.  Running to the store to grab aloe that contains dyes and other chemicals can be annoying, especially if you have sensitive skin.  Luckily, making your own aloe vera gel the all-natural way is simple and cheap!  It’s time to make your own sunburn fighting gel!Chelsea Crockett- aloe vera gel

All you need is an aloe plant and powdered vitamin C.  Start by cutting off an outer leaf.  These are usually the most mature and contain the most aloe (HINT: 1 or 2 large leaves can make almost a cup of aloe gel.  Don’t cut off too many leaves!).  Once you’ve cut each leaf off at the base, set them upright in a cup for 10 minutes to let the yellow resin drain out.  This can be irritating to the skin!  Once the leaf is fully drained, use a vegetable peeler to remove the green part of the plant.  This will leave you with a clear, soft gel that can be scooped out with a spoon.  Scoop out as much gel as you can and place it in a jar.

Vitamin C is a natural preserver, so adding 500mg to every ¼ cup of aloe will keep your gel fresh for up to 2 months.  If you’re planning on using your aloe right away, then you can skip this step!  End by mixing the gel and placing it in the refrigerator.  Happy sunburn relief!

When I think of aloe vera I usually think of the stuff that I put on my skin after a sunburn!  While that’s one of its main purposes, it’s good for so much more than you would ever know!  Keep on reading to find out how you can incorporate aloe vera in your daily routine!

It is full of amino acids and minerals including A, C, E,Chelsea Crockett- aloe vera drink folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3, and B6. Being tan is something I always set on my summer goal list. But being tan requires hours and hours out in the hot sun! We know that 90% of the time that leads to an unwelcomed sunburn covering us head to toe, yikes! I’ve seen many articles and websites telling readers how to prevent sunburns, but we know the reality is they can’t always be avoided! Here are a few suggestions on how you can soothe your annoying burn!Chelsea Crockett - Aloe Vera

  • I’ll start off with stating the obvious, Aloe Vera! Aloe is perfect for alleviating sunburn pain. You can find it in lotions, gels, etc. almost anywhere.  My favorite is Banana Boat’s Aloe After Sun gel.  Click here to check it out!
  • What is something that is free and can be found right in your home? Drinking a lot of water is advice I give for almost anything :)! The sun quickly dehydrates your body and skin, leading to burns. Drinking a few glasses of water helps heal and replenish the damaged skin.
  • Green tea should always be available for use at your house! Even if you don’t drink tea, it has so many other health benefits. Brew up some green tea and let it cool. Then, soak a cloth in it and apply to your burned areas!
  • Ever thought about using potatoes for benefits besides eating? Not only potatoes, but cucumbers too, work like magic when dealing with sunburns. By applying a slice or two, it should reduce the swelling and help cool the burn.

Good luck this summer :)! XOXO – Chels
