The Bible is filled with endless “do’s” and “don’ts” that instruct us on God’s perfect way to live our lives. It’s like he provides the perfect “to-do list” to ensure us joy, hope, and trust in him.

There are several “do’s” that God wants us to live by. Meditate on them and put them into practice, every day and for the days to come!

  • Pray continually.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

When we pray continually, God reveals things to us that he never would’ve without our constant communication with him. Prayer is so, so important and it should never get taken advantage of. It’s so easy to pray that we often forget about how truly amazing it actually is. Sit down, talk to God, and lean on him, not forgetting the power and awesomeness of prayer!

  • Trust in the Lord.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust is always hard no matter who it may be given to, or lack thereof. There is so much comfort found in the fact that God assures us on trust so many times throughout the Bible. Proverbs 3:5-6 is the perfect example of this! When we lean on God and not ourselves, honestly and truthfully, God shows us his perfect way.

  • Be thankful for even the small things.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” – James 1:17

When we practice thankfulness, we develop a whole new mindset. Instead of praising God for only the big things that occur in our lives, try thanking him for even the smallest of blessings. It may be the short line at the grocery store or the good grade you got on a quiz. Whatever it may be, thank him continually and in ever circumstance!

  • Dive into scripture.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” – Romans 15:4

The Word of God should never be taken advantage of. When we have God’s actual word right in front of us, we should meditate on it and discover all it has to offer.

  • Steer clear of gossip.

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” – Ephesians 4:29

God commands us not once, but several times in the Bible to stay away from bad conversation. Gossip not only spreads rumors, but it attracts drama and unwanted attention. Be mindful of the conversations you’re having with others. Be sure to only involve yourself with conversations that build people up, not tear them down!

There are tons of other things you could add to this list, but these are some of the more obvious “to-do’s” that God gives us in his word. Stay alert and conscious of putting these into effect!

There are certain things that should be on your summer bucket list such as going to the drive-in with your friends or spending the day at an amusement park! Since most of your days will be spent at home watching Netflix or hanging out with friends, there are certain things you should do every day that will make your summer stress-free and enjoyable!Chelsea Crockett - Breakfast

  • I don’t know about you, but I’m not the best at keeping my room clean! I’ve learned it’s much easier to do a 10 minute clean up each day rather than let clothes pile up over days at a time. During the summer, this will be much easier to maintain!
  • I’ve always been told “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” I never realized how true this was until I made it a point to have breakfast every morning! Having something as simple as a smoothie will not only energize you but make you more motivated to start your day!
  • Wash your face, drink a cup of green tea, and take a refreshing shower. Make this a routine! Your body will thank you.
  • Take time to spend with God. Read a devotion if you have one, and if not, read a certain section of the Bible every day.

All of these things will be easier to accomplish without homework and school in the way… and I encourage you to do so!

Love, Chels

Well, most of us have settled into school by now and that means our lazy days of summer have ended.  Soon we will be going to football games dressed in our sweaters and scarves. However, I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet.  I’ve been thinking about some things I could still do with my friends to enjoy these last few weeks of HOT weather!

One thing on my list is to try to keep my summer tan for a bit longer.  Hopefully I can swim on the weekends and chill at the pool.  Why not host an end of the summer party?  Take some fun pictures and make a scrapbook with them.  Scrapbooking can sometimes take a long time so I tend to let Snapfish help me with it.  It’s a website that takes your pictures and lets you design your own book… or they can design it for you!  It’s really reasonable and lets you capture your memories in a really fun way!  (Hint:  These make great gifts for your friends!) Another idea is to spend some time reading that book you said you wanted to read all summer long!  (If you’re not a reader, I bet there is a TV or Netflix series you’ve always wanted to try!) Either way, I’m going to try to finish my homework early and settle in for some “me” time!  I love to get lost in a good book!

Last, but not least, make some delicious snow cones!  If you’re just not ready to say goodbye to summer and sunshine, eat a few cold, yummy treats!  We have a little snow cone maker that we bought at Target along with the syrups and the paper cones.  All we do is add ice and voila….a delicious snow cone!  I love to have one on a hot day!

Enjoy, Chels
