3 Ways to Incorporate Scripture into Your Daily Life

Sometimes we forget the importance and awesomeness of scripture. It’s Jesus’s words onto paper, that allow us to walk like him, talk like him, and live like him. How cool is that?

I know for me, scripture memorization has always been a challenge. It’s something that I didn’t realize would make a difference in my spiritual life until I made it a point to give it a try. With so many ways to incorporate it into your daily life, why not give it a try? It has far more benefits than you think!

Incorporate it into your daily quiet times.

If you like to do daily quiet times where you spend uninterrupted time with God, then what better time to learn scripture than when you’re already spending time with him? After you finish journaling, reading your Bible, etc., devote 10 minutes to scripture memorization. I like to write a few verses on separate notecards to keep in my Bible that I can easily access. Then once I’m finished, I try to refer back to them throughout my day or before I go to sleep at night!

Put scripture around places that you’ll often see it.

I love writing scripture on sticky notes and sticking them to various places that I know I’ll see throughout my day. For example, you could write Psalm 139:14 (“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”) on a sticky note and stick it on your mirror. This is a beautiful reminder that we could all use first thing when we wake up in the morning, and you’ll remember it when you read it every day!

Another place to put a sticky note is on your steering wheel. Psalm 121:7-8 is the perfect verse for this. It says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm – he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Read over it every time you get in your car. It’s sort of like a mini prayer and you’ll memorize it in no time!

Download a scripture memorization app.

These apps are one of the best ways to memorize scripture. If you’re like me, then you always have your phone on you. So, what better way to do so?!

There are several different apps that allow you to select the verse you’re wanting to memorize and will encourage you to learn it throughout the day. Some apps will send you reminders to read over them every few hours or so. Others will even make you type out the verse to make sure you know it before moving on to the next one! Pretty cool, right?

I encourage you to really devote time to scripture memorization. So many good things come from it, you just have to dive in and discover them yourself!

We live in such a sinful world that we don’t even think about the sin surrounding us daily. Sin is such a part of our lives that half the time we don’t even realize we’re doing anything wrong in the first place.

Think of the last time you gossiped or got angry with someone. You probably didn’t even consciously think about the fact that you could be sinning by doing so.

Although we’re not perfect, Jesus has given us the free, undeserving gift of forgiveness and mercy. We are sinful people living in a sinful world, yet there is so much love and grace in store for us.

There’s a song called What a Beautiful Name by Hillsong Worship and there’s a line that I fell in love with the first time I heard it. The lyric says, “my sin was great, your love was greater,” and that has always stuck with me since I heard it. We often get so wrapped up in our own sin that we forget how powerful the love of God is.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Once you’ve been redeemed by Christ, you are no longer drowning in sin. You’re a new creation, made pure and perfect in his sight. We oftentimes beat ourselves up for the sins we’ve committed. I know I do at least! But knowing that I am forgiven and made blameless in his sight gives me the hope I need for the days to come.

Psalm 103:12 says, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”

Think about the significance of this verse. The east to the west is never ending. It goes on and on and never stops. God removes our sins from us and never thinks of them again. In Micah 7:19, it says, “You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.” To think our Heavenly Father forgets the wrongs we’ve done against him is amazing and something we are so undeserving of.

It’s natural to feel regret and pain for the things we’ve done in our life, but we can’t forget who our creator is. His love is so big and so wide, and he wants us to know the depth of his mercy and forgiveness.

If we don’t think God truly forgives us for what we’ve done in the past, then we don’t know who God is at all. Have faith and dive deeper into what is character really is. He is merciful, loving, caring, and perfect in all that he is.

I’ll leave you with a quote I found that gave me a peace over my heart. It says, “God is not waiting to love you until you have overcome your weaknesses and bad habits. He loves you today with a full understanding of your struggles” – Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

Write this on your mirror, make this your phone background, put it on a sticky note on your dashboard. Read it and believe it. God’s love overcomes all sin, today and every day!

Scripture is the closest thing we have to discovering God’s true identity and experiencing the story of Jesus Christ. Sometimes we forget how truly amazing the Bible actually is.

Memorizing scripture was always something I had to do instead of something I wanted to do. I never understood the point of it and viewed it as a chore instead of a privilege. Knowing and memorizing scripture can benefit us in so many different ways! I’m learning little by little the importance of having verses memorized in my head to refer to whenever I need them.

Joshua 1:8 says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

When we meditate on the Word, we learn more about who God is and how we can live a life holy and pleasing to Him. It’s good to know scripture that we can remember in time of temptation or in time of praise.

Another verse that talks about the benefits of knowing scripture is 2 Timothy 3:16. It says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness.”

A lot of times throughout life, we have to be ready to defend our faith and explain why we believe in what we do. Knowing scripture by heart is the perfect way of doing so. We can express the love of God through his Word to people who may not know it!

Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

When I read the first part of this verse, the word “dwell” sticks out to me. Dwell means “to live or continue in a given condition or state.” If we want the message of Christ to continue to live in us, we have to meditate on it and make it a part of our lives! Then we can speak God’s word into the lives of those who need to hear it.

For example, if someone doesn’t know much about God or the Bible, we can have all of these amazing, God-breathed verses right at the tip of our tongue. Our words have so much more weight behind them when we are able to back them up.

It just takes a start of 5-10 minutes a day to meditate on the scriptures you want to learn. Try even writing them on notecards or in the notes app on your phone! All you have to do is start somewhere and get in the routine of doing so. I promise you, it will pay off! 🙂

With age comes wisdom. And with knowledge of God’s word comes godly wisdom.

Although wisdom is a good quality to have, godly wisdom is even more important. Knowing what God’s word says and how we can apply it to our lives is crucial as a follower of Christ.

Although we might be young, age isn’t the only thing that brings upon wisdom. We can dive into God’s word now and gain the knowledge and wisdom he wants so badly for us to have!

James 3:17 says, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Let’s break this verse down piece-by-piece.

PURE

Our wisdom should be shown through the way we live our lives. What does God mean when he talks about pure wisdom? He wants us to live selflessly and holy, striving toward purity from sin.

PEACE-LOVING

He also wants us to strive toward peace. Use your wisdom to know what’s worth investing your time in and what’s not. Be wise about gossip, drama, or any situation involving conflict. Be slow to speak and quick to encourage peace.

CONSIDERATE

Next, comes being considerate. Taking into account the feelings of others and showing sympathy in the right situations spurs from godly wisdom. We should strive toward caring for other people before caring for ourselves.

SUBMISSIVE

What exactly does submissive mean when it comes to wisdom? We should be submitting to God’s authority and obeying by the rules he lays out for us in his Word. We shouldn’t be picking and choosing which of God’s rules we want to follow! He lays out everything for a reason, hand-picking each thing to advise us with.

FULL OF MERCY

What exactly is mercy? It’s defined as an act of kindness, compassion, or favor shown toward an offender or an enemy.

If you thoroughly study the Word of God, then you know He wants us to be full of mercy and compassionate toward others. The true test of wisdom is knowing how to forgive others and treat them maturely as Jesus would.

IMPARTIAL AND SINCERE

Lastly, God wants us to be fair, just, and honest. You know someone is wise by the way they carry themselves and the way they treat others.

If we treat others with fairness and honesty, they’ll most likely treat us the same. Sincerity is so important, and the more we see how Jesus treated his people throughout the Bible, the more we can see how we should treat others, as well!

I have one more important thought to leave you with:

Proverbs 4:7 says, “The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”

Whatever you do, find wisdom. Engage in God’s Word and discover the true understanding of who He is and what He wants for your life.

If we had a compass that showed us the right way whenever we came to a crossroad, we would walk through life stress-free and confident.

If I could predict the next 10 years of my life, I’d have no problem putting all my trust in the future and depending on myself for security and happiness.

Why is it so hard for us to feel secure in our future when we know the one who planned it is holding it in his hands?

If anything, this should give us more security than anything in the world.

When we walk through seasons of our life, it’s easy to forget that God is walking right beside us. If we could see him, we would see that he never leaves our side, not once.  If we were perfect Christians, we would do the same, sticking by his side at all times as well.

Luke 9:23 says, “Then he said to them all: ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.’”

God doesn’t just ask us to follow him. He asks us to take up our cross and deny ourselves.

This verse is proof that walking with God is not always the easiest path. You will face struggles and persecution, but God is still there in the midst of it all.

He wants us to deny ourselves, prioritizing his commands over our own wants and desires. Whether you prioritize sleep, a social life, a reputation, etc., we should forget about it all in the presence of God.

The closer you walk with God, the less room for anything to come in between.” The closer you cling to him, the harder it is for the devil to work in your life. God wants us to succeed! He wants us to strengthen our dependence on him and follow the path he created for us.

The devil’s not the only enemy that tries to throw you off your path. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

Sometimes we ourselves are our greatest enemy! We try to control our plans and focus on what we want instead of what God wants.

I know for me, my thoughts can completely take over. My thoughts say one thing while the Bible says the other. Although our way seems more appealing at times, God’s way is full of endless joy and peace.

It’s been proven to me time after time that God’s way is the best way. He never fails us and never points us in the wrong direction. It was when I truly believed this that I began to give up the ways of this world and take on the ways of his Word.

I encourage you to do the same and reach your destination with the person who determined it.

Becoming a Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs is one of my favorite books of the Bible.

If there was one book with enough instruction on how a godly woman should live, it would be this one.

In today’s society, it can be easy to get caught up in how the world wants us girls to act. We should try to focus on how God views us, instead of how the world views us.

This chapter of Proverbs portrays a woman who values God, strength, and generosity from beginning to end. I wanted to break it apart, verse by verse, and see how we can grow into the godly woman God created us to be!

  • She lacks nothing of value.

I always read this verse and never knew what it was truly saying. God wants us to value the things he values. He values fellowship, forgiveness, love, and so many other things. We should strive to acquire patience, grace, and all of the characteristics he wants us to have.

  • She works vigorously with eager hands.

This verse reminds me to be as hardworking and diligent as I can, in all things I do. Whether it’s my schoolwork or videos for my YouTube channel, I try to put my all into it and give it 110%.

  • She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

Have you ever tried giving some of your time to those in need? This isn’t the only verse in the Bible that encourages us to do so. Jesus was always helping, always serving, and always dedicated to others. Try it out for yourself and see how both your heart and perspective change.

  • She is clothed with strength and dignity.

As women, we should hold ourselves to high standards. We should remember that with God, being our provider, we will always have all that we need! We should walk through our lives with our heads up high, knowing we can face whatever comes our way.

  • She has no fear of the future.

With strength, comes confidence. As Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord.” We can be confident in knowing that the God of creation has already declared our plans for the future.

  • She speaks with wisdom.

We should all strive to be quick to listen and slow to anger. We should speak through truth and use our wisdom to guide us. We should be that person in our friend group that can be the voice of reason and leads by example.

  • She fears the Lord.

This characteristic is above all others. A godly woman should fear the Lord and abide by him in any and every situation. Dive deep into the word and begin to feel his presence all around you.

How will you put this into practice? Will you work toward strength, wisdom, and fearing the Lord? Be the light in other people’s lives so they can see how a godly woman should live!

Why You Should Put on the Armor of God

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:14-17

The Armor of God is something that you can’t see or touch but can feel it all around you.  It’s something that God equips us with that we can choose to put on morning by morning or completely ignore as a whole.  There are five different parts to this armor: the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit.  Each part of God’s armor has a different use that clothes you with the strength to get through the day.

If you wake up morning by morning and allow God to clothe you in each of these things, you’ll be 10x stronger in battling situations.  When you’re discouraged, you can use the belt of truth and the shield of faith to remember how much God loves and cares for you.  When you’re tempted, you can use the sword of the spirit to defend yourself against Satan.  There are so many different ways to use each part of the armor of God.  He gives you each of these tools so you can battle each day by walking firmly with him!

The Bible is full of many, many things.  It’s full of wisdom, encouragement, lessons, and lots of other valuable things to apply to your life.  I recently came across an article on Pinterest that had a list of “Bible emergency numbers” that apply to specific problems and struggles you might be going through.  Here are some key verses that can help!

  • For when you’re upset – John 14:1-4. Chelsea Crockett - Bible These verses focus on God’s perfect kingdom He has awaiting you.  It gives you hope and reassurance that there is so much more to life.  Don’t get upset over the little things!
  • For when you’re lonely – Psalm 23.  This chapter talks about how the Lord is your shepherd and is always with you.  It gives you comfort knowing that God is with you all the days of your life!
  • For when you’re anxious – Philippians 4:4-9.  Anxiety is a thing that everyone gets.  Whether it’s over a test or a sticky situation, give all your cares to God!
  • For when you’re depressed – Psalm 27.  This chapter is one of my favorites.  It ends with saying “wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”  There are the best days of your life ahead of you!
  • For when you’re lost – Psalm 73:23-26.  These verses talk about how God will guide you even if your flesh and heart fail you.  Seek His counsel because He has you in the palm of His hand!

I hope these help you beat your struggles one verse at a time!

When I start to date someone, it’s not just for the company or to have someone to text all the time.  If you’re like me, you date with a purpose to see if you could potentially end up with that person for the rest of your life!  I’ve recently studied some verses in the Bible that can make the perfect checklist for what a Godly boyfriend should be like!

One of my absolute favorite verses provides the perfect list to follow on how both you and your boyfriend should act in a relationship!  1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.Chelsea Crockett - Bible Verse It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”  This verse sets up a complete checklist of what you need to look for in a relationship.  It tells you as straight as it can which qualities and characteristics are in a Godly man.  That being said, we as girls need to uphold these qualities for our boyfriends, too!  Another important characteristic we need to pay close attention to is the confidence you and your boyfriend have in each other.  The Bible calls for having full confidence in one another and lacking nothing in value.  I urge you to practice all of these things in your future relationships!

I hope this checklist helps you judge who your next boyfriend needs to be!

We’re in the generation of wanting things at the snap of our fingers, right when we ask for it.  We often find it hard to trust that God’s plan is perfect and think that ours may be better in the long run.  It can sometimes get frustrating when we have to wait and be patient.  It may even start to feel like the wait is too much to bear.  Luckily, God gives us His word to help us turn to when we’re in need of patience!Chelsea Crockett - Patience Bible Verse

Proverbs 14:29 says, “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.”  In this verse, God is telling us to be slow to anger.  We often get so frustrated when God doesn’t answer our prayers right away, or even at all.  We need to pray for understanding and self-control.  If you can’t change the outcome, change the perspective!

Ephesians 4:2 says, “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”  This verse is a perfect verse to reflect on when struggling with patience with other people.  Be humble and kind, having love for even those who hurt and persecute you!

2 Peter 3:9 says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”  This is one of my favorite verses about patience.  God is never slow or absent, He is simply fulfilling His will for you (and His plan is perfect!)!  He is patient with us as we should be with Him!

I urge you all to pray for patience.  It will change your perspective and give you peace in all situations.

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; and laughs without fear of the future.” Proverbs 31:25.

I wanted to share one of my favorite Bible verses, Proverbs 31:25.  To live our best life now, we must learn to trust God’s timing.  Sometimes we don’t understand things that are going on in our life.  We are puzzled by God’s timing and methods.  However, we have to trust that God sees the big picture and “laugh without fear of the future.”  Sometimes God’s will for our lives takes time!

Chelsea Crockett - Proverbs 31 25

We need to take one day at a time and try to find good in every situation….even when it’s hard.  We need to walk in faith and trust God every step of the way.  To live our best life, we have to trust God’s timing!  Being clothed with strength means to not worry about the pieces in our life never fitting just right.  These pieces will come together eventually, just chill out and give it time!  We can’t grow impatient and force things to happen!  We’re just teenagers and having the pressure to figure out our future now causes more and more worry to come into our lives.  Sit back and relax, put your trust in God’s hands!

Hi Insiders!
As all of you know, my favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.  It states,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  We serve a big God!  He wants to do new and big things in your lives and mine.

Chelsea Crockett - Jeremiah 29 11With God on our side, anything is possible.  God can open doors and opportunities that you may think are impossible.  Start making room in your mind for what God may have in store for you.  You must conceive it in your heart and mind before you can receive it.  Pray for wisdom about decisions and then wait expectantly to hear from God.

Keep your “spiritual eyes” focused on positive thoughts so your life can move in that direction.  Focus on the good things in life and continually give thanks. Start your day with faith, spend time with God, and then wait for his favor to help you rise above life’s challenges.  Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life…..A New Year, A New You!
