Life is stressful. I am sure you know this already! We over-commit ourselves and stretch ourselves thin, trying to get everything done and hang out with everyone we can. Between work, your social life, and lack of sleep your body can take a beating. Giving yourself a break and letting yourself relax will help keep you sane. Here are some signs that your mind and body need a break.FullSizeRender (94)

By looking for the signs that show that our bodies are needing rest and might want to shake some things up, we can stay happier, healthier and more in love with life each day. Here are eleven things to look for in deciding when to take a breather.

  1. Work is life: Don’t let the “workaholic” culture get the best of you! Being motivated to work hard and perform well is
great, but you also need to give yourself a break for downtime. This allows your mind and body to recoup and makes you a better worker.
  2. You feel like you are exhausted: Having a crazy schedule can make you feel exhausted. Try and go to bed at a decent time, and listen to your body when it tells you “hey, I am tired, take a break”.
  3. You feel emotional: Signs that you have pushed yourself too far are that you are irritable, panicked, cant sleep well, and have a different appetite. When your body is fatigued it affects your hormones and mood, which affect everyone around you.

When you start to feel burned out, mentally and physically, it is a sign that you need to take a breather. Take a break and have some “me time”, it will make you happier and healthier and will lead you to a more well-balanced life.

What You Do Matters, So Just Do You

Do you ever feel like you are missing out? That other people are doing all of these cool things, traveling places, being adventurous, doing big things, and you are just living a normal life? That, my friend, is one of the worst feelings.

Social media makes it so easy for us to compare our lives to other people’s, and I think that is one of the worst things about it. Yes, it is fun to be able to see how other people’s lives differ from ours and it gives us a look into how other people live, but it becomes unhealthy when we start to become unhappy with our own lives because we think other people have it so much better. Why cant I travel like her? Why haven’t I gotten a cool job like othershers? She gets to do so many fun things and has her life together. Why cant I be like that? Those thoughts will bring you down. I have started to realize something. It is that it doesn’t matter with other people are doing, it matters what YOU are doing. You are an amazing person who has done amazing things, and the amazing things that you have done/are doing are different than the amazing things that other people are doing, but that doesn’t make them any less amazing! So what if someone you know got a super cool internship and you’ve never had one before. Don’t become jealous, be happy that she got an amazing opportunity and know that in your future you can have something just as cool! Just because it hasn’t happened yet doesn’t mean it wont. The cool things people are doing now can happen to you, too! Just give it time and enjoy what is happening in your life here and now.

Remember, it doesn’t matter what other people are doing, it matters what YOU are doing. Make the most of the time you are given. Do things that matter. Make a difference. Live life!

Where I live the temperature has been in the upper nineties, and even the 100’s these past few weeks. Needless to say, we are all sweating our brains out! If you work in an office or a professional setting it can be hard to dress for work when you know that you have to be professional all whilst trying not to die of heat stroke. There are a few things you should avoid wearing to work in the summer, even though it may be tempting! But, no matter enticing it may be to wear them, you want to stay appropriate and professional. Here are 5 things you should never wear to work in the summer.

1. STRAPLESS ANYTHING

Showing your shoulders in a work setting just isn’t professional, no matter how cute that strapless dress or tank top is. Layer a blazer over it to make it more work appropriate. Plus, adding a blazer will jazz up your outfit!

2. FLIP FLOPS

Flip flops are best saved for the beach or the pool, not for work! Yes, they may have rhinestones on the straps, but that doesn’t make them any more work appropriate. Opt for a pair of flats instead!

3. SHORT SKIRTS/DRESSES

If you cannot bend down without fear of flashing your co-workers, then your dress or skirt is too short! Keep it classy. I know you want to show off your killer legs, but save that for a night out with your friends!

4. SHEER CLOTHING364e3120ffcf73dad611fcdfdffc81ca

Yes, sheer fabrics allow your skin to breathe and keep your body cool in the hot weather, but they are not work appropriate. If you can see bra straps or underwear through your clothes, it should be a no-go!

5. OVERSIZED CLOTHES

Oversized clothes are all the rage right now, but they are not work wear! You want to look clean cut and classy, not frumpy. Save your comfy oversized ensembles for outings with friends or family!

What do YOU think is a clothing item you should never wear to work in the summer? I want your input!

Organization is the key to a stress-free work and school environment.  Too many people have papers flying everywhere, dates not written down, and a busy schedule.  It’s important to live an organized life in order to get things done without a hassle.  If you follow these simple organizational tips, I promise your life will be a breeze!Chelsea Crockett- organization

  • Keep a planner or use your calendar app!  Write down anything and everything that is important, an event, or something that is due.  Deadlines are important!
  • Give yourself a break!  If you work too much you will start to go crazy!  Give yourself a 10 minute break each hour to surf the web, talk to friends, or grab a snack!
  • Establish a junk drawer!  Everyone has those papers, supplies, and random things that they have no idea what to do with.  If you have one solid area that you store all of that, then they won’t end up all over your desk!
  • DO NOT procrastinate.  This is the number one reason people get stressed out and unorganized.  Do your assignments or projects as they are assigned to you so you can focus on one thing at a time.
  • Make your work space pretty!  When you have a work space that you are proud of, you are less likely to get it messy.

Staying organized is important for the road to success.  It’s also important for your sanity.  Keep it all together and you’ll start to see a difference!

XOXO,

Chelsea
