Satisfied means to have your desires fully gratified and to be made content.

Worldly satisfaction is temporary and can only provide so much contentment and happiness until you’re back to searching for what’s next. In this generation especially, there are so many different ways to be temporarily satisfied. We think we’re happy with what we have until that thing stops filling the void in our lives.

The satisfaction you get from Christ is an entirely different sort of satisfaction than you get from the world. It’s hard to fully grasp the idea of it until you experience it yourself.

There’s a song called “Testify” by the band Needtobreathe and it talks about being satisfied through Christ. The lyrics say “Come to the fountain and you can be satisfied. There is a peace, there is a love you can get lost inside. Come to the fountain and let me hear you testify.”

This is one of my favorite Christian songs because it talks about coming to Jesus and being satisfied in him and him alone. When you come to the fountain, there is a peace and love so beyond what this world can give you. When you discover this pure peace, you become a living testament of the love of Christ.

Proverbs 19:23 says, “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied…” The Bible continually talks about satisfaction and it always leads back to this exact point. Loving the Lord leads to life, and living in Christ leads to genuine satisfaction.

John 4:13-14 describes godly satisfaction. It says, “Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’”

I’m sure you’ve experienced the exhausting cycle of searching for satisfaction in all areas apart from God. Maybe for you, your main area is boys. You feel loved and appreciated when someone is chasing after you, and the cycle continues when one boy leaves and the next comes around. Maybe for you, it’s partying. As soon as Monday comes around, you’re automatically wishing for the weekend and asking yourself, “what’s next?”

Because we’re human, we’re going to experience this from time to time. But because we have the peace and love of Christ, we can become fully and eternally satisfied in him and him alone. Next time you’re feeling empty, open up your Bible and talk to God. See how the satisfaction you get from devoting your life to him is so much different than the satisfaction you get from the world.

I encourage you to allow Christ to fill that void in your life that you’ve been trying to fill with so many other things for so long. Not only will you find a sense of relief, but discover the true feeling of falling in love with Christ.
