I’ve said it more times than I can count, prayer is powerful. It can completely change your future’s path and make your plans align with God’s.
When I was younger, I made it a point to start praying for my future, for my husband, for my career… There are certain things that may seem so far away that you should actually start praying for now.
I wanted to share with you the importance of praying for certain things weeks, months, and even years in advance.
Pray for your future husband or wife.
Praying for your future spouse is something I had done since I was a little girl. It’s important to pray for their hearts, their struggles, their future… It may feel weird to pray for someone you’ve never met, but it’s such a cool thing you can and get to do!
Won’t that be cool to one day tell your husband you’ve been praying for him for years? And you can finally thank God for the man or woman you’ve been praying over for so long? It always gave me chills just thinking about it and now I’m able to have that special bond with Nick!
Pray for your future career.
Whether you’re in high school, college, or beyond, you can always continue to pray for your future career. I know it took me a long time to figure out exactly what I wanted to do and what impact I wanted to have on the world around me. Praying for where you’re going to end up in the future will help prepare you for it, without even knowing what that “it” may be.
Work is one of the main causes for stress in most people’s lives. It’s easy to forget that all this is temporary and get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. When we pray for the future career path God is leading us down, we can find peace in knowing that God knows us better than we know ourselves! He would never lead us down a road without having a purpose for it. Trust in that!
Pray for your purpose.
God has a purpose for us all here on this earth, but it’s up to you to figure out exactly what that may be! When we begin praying for God to lead us, guide us, and push us in the direction he wants us to go, we slowly discover his purpose for our lives.
Maybe for you it’s missions. God is calling you to drop everything where you are and go to a nation that has yet to be reached by the Word of God.
Or maybe it’s ministry in general. God has called you to be a voice for the church, leading others to the cross.
Or maybe it’s simply to be a voice in your school, home, community… The purpose God calls you to is never too small but perfectly designed for you!
I urge you to begin today and start praying for these three things. Find joy in the fact that we get the chance to do so! You never know where it could lead you. 🙂
