Lack of protein:

If you don’t get enough protein in the food you eat, your body may ration protein by shutting down hair growth. This usually happens about two to three months after your protein intake drops.

What to do: A few great sources of protein are fish, eggs, and meat.

Stress:

Any kind of physical trauma like a car crash or severe illness, even the flu, can temporarily cause hair loss. Hair has a programmed life cycle: a growth phase, rest phase and shedding phase. Sometimes when you go through a super stressful event it can shock the hair cycle and make the hair go into the shedding phase. Emotional stress can also cause hair loss! Stressed for a test? Going through a rough spot in your life? It can cause hair loss!

What to do: Good news! Your hair will start growing back as your body recuperates.

Lots of styling and coloring over the years can cause your hair to fall out. Extreme styling, such as tight braids, perms, and constant hair coloring can actually affect the hair root and your hair might not grow back.

Don’t freak out if you are losing hair! It happens to the best of us. 🙂What to do: Along with avoiding these styles and treatments, use conditioner after every shampoo, let your hair air dry, and limit the amount of time the curling iron comes in contact with your hair and use hot tools on it no more than once a week.
