I don’t know about you, but I love decorative maps and the vintage feel they give off!  Just the pattern itself is one of my favorites whether it be room décor, phone cases, pillows, etc.  There are tons of different map DIYs that you can easily make into the cutest things!  Especially if you like to travel, you should try out these super cute DIYs!Chelsea Crockett - Pinned Map

Like I mentioned before, for the travelers out there, this one is for you!  You’ll need to purchase wooden letters that spell out the world “travel.”  Buy them in the right size according to where you’re putting them whether it be on your wall, desk, etc.  There are different ways to actually apply the map pattern to it either with map scrapbooking paper, decoupage, etc.  You can hang your letters or get thick ones that will stand up on a table or desk.

Another DIY that’s a little simpler is purchasing a big wall map and attaching it to a foam board.  Since these maps are usually thicker and hard to simply glue it yourself, you can take it to Hobby Lobby or another craft store to do it for you.  Then, buy some pushpins and stick them on the cities that you’ve been to!  It’s a fun way to see how many places around the world/country you’ve gone to!

Which DIY are you going to try out for yourself?  Don’t be afraid to put your own spin on things and customize it even more!

Pumpkin spice lattes are all the rage this time of year. I mean, it can be 85 degrees outside and girls will still be sipping on them. I love buying pumpkin flavored coffee creamer, but what I don’t love is what I see on the ingredients label. Store bought coffee creamer is packed with preservatives and chemicals, things our bodies do NOT need. Luckily, there is a way to make homemade pumpkin coffee creamer that is non-dairy and guilt-free! Your body AND your taste buds will love this recipe.

Ingredients:desktop-diy_pumpkin_pie_spice_coffee_creamer

  • 2 cups of original almond milk or soy milk
  • 2 tbsp canned or fresh mashed pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

If you want you can substitute the cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground ginger for “pumpkin pie spice” store bought spice. Whisk all of the ingredients except the vanilla together in a saucepan over medium/high heat. Heat until it is steaming but not boiling. Whisk in the vanilla and let the mixture cool. Pour it into a jar, shake it, and then store it in the fridge. It is literally that easy to make your own coffee creamer!

I cannot wait to try this, I plan on making my own coffee creamer concoctions more often!

One of my favorite things about fall is the abundance of apple flavored treats, scented candles, etc.  Even better than buying it in the store, you can create your own DIY apple face mask!  Not only do you get an amazing fall face mask out of it but a fun DIY craft, as well!  Here’s how to make your own. 🙂

Because of apple’s hard texture, you’ll need a blender to make this mask into a paste that you can apply to your skin.  Chelsea Crockett - Apple Face Mask MixChop up half an apple into small pieces and blend them together in the blender.  Heat up a small amount of milk and add a tablespoon of warm milk to the blender.  You’ll then take an egg and add the yolk to the mixture, as well!  Before blending in the yolk, I suggest stirring it to evenly distribute it.  You can even add in a tablespoon of oatmeal to thicken up the mixture and make it more spreadable!  Spread the mask on your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes.  Rinse with warm water and enjoy your new soft skin!

I hope you like this apple scented face mask as much as I do!  Not only does it smell good, but it leaves your face feeling clean and hydrated!

Dressing up for Halloween never gets old.  Whether you’re 5 or 25, everyone finds a little bit of enjoyment in finding the perfect costume!  Although there’s nothing wrong with dressing up solo, getting your friends together to pull off an awesome group costume makes the night even more memorable!

  • If you need something super quick and simple, emoji t-shirts are the answer!  All you need to do is purchase plain yellow t-shirts from Walmart, Target, etc.  Pick your fave emoji and create the face on your shirt using whatever color felt material you need.  Simply cut out the shapes and hot glue each piece of felt onto your shirt!Chelsea Crockett - Emoji Costumes
  • If you have a big enough group, be the seven dwarves from Snow White!  All you need are different colored long-sleeved shirts (colors that the dwarves wear), beanies, felt (black, yellow, and white), laced boots, and high white socks.  For the white felt, cut letters and hot glue them to the shirt to spell out whoever you are, whether it be Happy or Sleepy!  With the black felt, make a belt with a square yellow buckle on the front.  After you do this, you’re set!
  • Basing costumes off you and your friend’s favorite movie is easy and such a fun idea!  There are so many movies to pull costume ideas from such as Disney movies, Mean Girls, etc.  Pick the easiest and best one to go off of and go from there!

Let me know below what you and your friends are being for Halloween!  You never know, I may need some help myself!

I love using products that are free from preservatives, chemicals, and dyes. The more I can use natural products the better! Here is how to make your very own all natural shaving cream to keep your legs smooth and your skin healthy.

Ingredients:homemade-shave-cream-3

  • 2/3 cup shea butter
  • 2/3 coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • -10-20 drops of lavender essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda

First, melt 2/3 cup of coconut oil and shea butter together, and then turn off the heat and stir in 1/4 cup of olive oil. When it is all melted, add in 10-20 drops of lavender essential oil.     Give it a good stir, and then set it in the fridge to harden. Once it has become solid, remove it from the fridge and let it soften slightly. Add this and 2 tablespoons of baking soda to an electric mixer and beat until it’s super fluffy and looks like icing. Store it in a container in a dark, cool place, and apply it generously when you are using it!

Enjoy soft, silky, skin with this all natural shaving cream!

Hair De-tangler DIY

Now that my hair has grown back and is almost as long as it was in my first years of high school, pulling a brush through it after a shower is nothing short of a nightmare. The only way I can get all the tangles out of my hair is if I use detangler. This is a sort of leave-in conditioner that both moisturizes and helps work the tangles out of your hair! Here is how to easily make your very own.

Ingredients:download

  • 2-3 tablespoons conditioner
  • 2 cups distilled water
  • 12 drops of essential oil
  • Spray bottle

The amount of distilled water you use depends on your spray bottle size. Mix 1.5 to 2 cups of water with 2-3 tbsp of conditioner in a bowl. Add in some essential oils to spruce it up and to give your hair a fresh scent. I like to use rosemary oil because it promotes strong hair. Use a funnel to pour the mixture into the spray bottle, and there you have it! Spray on damp hair after you shower and your hair will be soft, tangle free, and shiny!

I like using a leave-in conditioner on my hair after I shower because it hydrates it and protects it from damage. Plus, it makes it super soft and shiny! Also, making your own ensures that you aren’t putting unnecessary chemicals on your hair.

These days, bath bombs are all the rage. That is why when I saw this cool diy where you can reuse K-cups from Keurig coffee makers to make your own bath bombs, I was all over it! Recycle AND make yourself an awesome smelling homemade bath bomb!

You’ll need the all-plastic k-cups for this DIY. Clean out the cups, dump the left over coffee grounds out, and discard any of the netting in the cup. Fill the bottom of the cup with glitter or sprinkles or dried flowers anything you think would look cute on a bath bomb!2015-04-Bath-Bomb2-e1429042607773

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp sprinkles or dried flowers
  • 8 ounces baking soda
  • 4 ounces citric acid
  • 4 ounces cornstarch
  • 4 ounces Epsom salts
  • ¾ teaspoon water
  • 2 teaspoons essential oil
  • 2 ½ teaspoons almond oil
  • 6 drops food coloring (optional)

Fill the bottom of each cup with glitter or sprinkles or dried flowers, anything you think would look cute on a bath bomb! In a bowl, combine the citric acid, baking soda, Epsom salts and cornstarch. In a separate bowl, stir together almond oil, water, essential oil, and food coloring. Pour these wet ingredients into the dry ones and stir together until the mixture begins to clump. Press the paste into the K- Cups and allow them to dry overnight. To remove the bombs from the cups, cut a slit into each cup and peel the plastic back.

Now go hop in the bath and try out one of your new fancy, homemade bath bombs! These also make great gifts.

There’s so many times that I want to simply show how much I love and appreciate my best friends for all they’ve done for me.  Especially at this point in my life, all my friends and I are going our separate ways for college.  If you’re in the same boat, or simply want to do something special for your BFFs, here are a few DIY gifts you can surprise them with!

  • Friendship bracelets are not overrated!  They might be the basic BFF gift but you can put your own spin on it! Chelsea Crockett - Gift Basket Depending on where you live, there are tons of places and stores that can engrave whatever you want onto a bracelet or necklace.  Maybe add your initials or you can your friend’s favorite Bible verse!
  • For this DIY, you’ll need to develop your favorite picture of you and your best friend.  You’ll need to buy a matted frame that you can write on from a craft store like Hobby Lobby.  Think of quotes or sayings that you and your friend like and write them all over the frame with a Sharpie!
  • Each of my best friends and I have certain foods or specific places we like to go, and of course lots of inside jokes.  Buy a cute basket and fill it with your guys’ favorite snacks, gift cards to your favorite places, or any funny things that remind you of her!  I also suggest getting a card to write a heartfelt message whatever the occasion may be!

I hope your BFF enjoys whatever wonderful DIY you decide to create! 🙂

I struggle with managing my oily skin like a lot of girls my age. I have learned a lot of natural ways to combat my oily skin, and using salt as a facial cleanser is just one of them! Salt exfoliates, cleanses, and tones your skin while giving it a softer, blemish-free look! Here is how I use salt in my skin routine.58662457

  1. Mix 1 tsp of sea salt and 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar with 2 cups of water
  2. Pour the mixture into a container so that you can store it.
  3. To use the cleanser, wash your face like you normally would, and then use a cotton ball to apply the mixture all over your skin. After you have applied it, wash it off with cold water. You can also fill a small spray bottle with it and spray your face instead of using a cotton ball.

What does this cleanser do exactly? I’m glad you asked. The apple cider vinegar and sea salt both have properties that will prevent & reduce acne and blackheads as well as keep your skin clear. These ingredients are cheap and all natural so you can feel good about what you are putting on your skin and about its impact on your wallet!

Happy cleansing!

Having healthy, glowing skin is one of the simple pleasures in life. A homemade coconut oil face mask can help you achieve the healthy skin we all long for! Coconut oil is naturally rich in antioxidants and healthy acids and will soften and lubricate healthy skin cells, break down dead cells, heal acne, and hydrate skin. How does this homemade mask work?

Coconut oil’s structure allows it to infiltrate skin pores to soften rough skin from within. Honey is a natural humectant, which hydrates skin cells. The last ingredient is lemon juice. Fresh lemon juice helps tighten and shrink large pores.

Ingredients:8836716_f520

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine these ingredients in a small bowl. Apply a thick coat of the mixture onto your clean face. Allow it to sit on your face for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with cool water. Pat your face dry, don’t rub it.

Now get ready for clear, soft skin!

When you take into account how often you use makeup removing wipes, which is probably once or twice a day, and then take in to account how much they cost, you find that makeup removing wipes are uncomfortably expensive. They are so handy at night when I am taking off my makeup because they make sure I get all of the impurities off of my face before I go to bed. I found a way to make my own makeup remover pads for just pennies and I am excited to try them out! Here is how to make them:

Ingredients:DIY_makeup_remover_pads_coconut_oil_deep_facial_cleansing_routine_Biore_2

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 ½ tbsp. baby shampoo
  • 1/8 tsp oil of your choice (coconut oil, olive oil, baby oil, etc.)
  • Round cotton pads
  • Small jar with a lid

Mix the shampoo, water, and oil together in a cup. Pour a little bit of this mixture into the jar you will be storing the makeup pads in. Place the round cotton pads on top of the solution you just poured into the jar and press down on them to make sure they are getting wet. Repeat this step until the jar is full of damp makeup pads. If you have any of the liquid left over save it for when you need to make more makeup remover pads! Like I said before, these pads are super cheap and easy to make and will last you muuuuuch longer than the pricey ones you buy at the store.

Comment below if you want to hear about more money-saving beauty diy’s! Also, this DIY works best if you have normal to dry skin.

In honor of Fourth of July coming up, it’s the perfect time for some American flag DIYs to help put together your red, white, and blue outfit. With Pinterest being the hub for all things DIY, I found a craft that’s simple and produces the cutest, festive results! You’ll need a few tools and materials to get started.

As far as what you need, there’s not much!Chelsea Crockett - American Flag Cuffs You’ll need a pair of jeans that can be cuffed (preferably boyfriend style or ripped), safety pins, an American flag printed material, thread, and a needle. You can either find an American flag material at a craft store or substitute something as simple as a flag bandana. After you have the right tools and materials, you’re ready to begin your DIY!

  • First things first, turn your jeans inside out.
  • Pick which piece of material you want for each cuff and use safety pins to attach the fabric to the jeans.
  • Then, like the picture above, use the thread and needle to sow the material on!
  • Turn your jeans right-side out to enjoy your new patriotic pants!

It’s as easy as that! I can’t wait to see how yours turned out this holiday!

When summer comes around, I sometimes have an urge to go blonde. Not totally blonde, just blond-er. The problem is that highlights are pretty pricey, and who has time for a trip to the salon when there is so much fun to be had in the summer months? If you want your hair to have a beachy, sun-kissed look this summer, here is the natural way to do so!

  1. Create your own salt spray: Mix a bit of salt with water, spray it on your hair (which opens the cuticle), and then go lay in the sun. This will fade your hair into a lighter color.images (1)
  2. Grab some lemon juice: Before heading out into the sun, add some lemon juice to your strands. The acid in the juice opens your cuticle, same as the salt water example above, leaving it open to the sun’s rays.
  3. Mix lemon and orange: If you are going for more golden, subtle highlights, mix orange and lemon juice together and do the same steps as above.

These DIY highlight concoctions are so easy to make, and fun to implement! Spray stuff on my hair, then go lay in the sun? Easy peasy.

Makeup brushes are one of the most-used items in our beauty arsenal. They help us put on our foundation, bronzer, blush, powder, and everything else you can imagine. Because they are used so much, they can start to gather bacteria and germs and need to be cleaned at least once a month. Here is how to make your own homemade brush cleaner to get those babies looking as good as new!

  1. Fill a small dish with olive oil and another with baby wash.brush
  2. Wet your brush, pour a little olive oil and a little baby wash onto a saucer. Work the wet brush into the mixture, swishing it around and using your fingers to mix the oil and baby wash into the bristles.
  3. Rinse the brush under warm water thoroughly, gently squeezing the extra water out after you are finished rinsing.
  4. Lay out a paper towel and lay the brush on it, propping the brush handle up so that it is higher than the bristles. Allow the brush to air dry over night.

Do this sequence with all of your brushes to get them squeaky clean and rid of germs! Dirty brushes can cause pimples on your face from the bacteria on them, so cleaning your brushes is key to a clear complexion!
