Hey everyone!  I know I’m not the only one that has a pile of clothes that I never seem to wear anymore.  It just sits in my closet and takes up lots of space.  Luckily, people in the past years have come up with different organizations to help use recycled clothes, toys, and even furniture to pass down to others in need.

Chelsea Crockett - Donation BoxWe’ve all heard of Goodwill, but have you ever thought about donating?  Simply cleaning out your closet and taking over a load can do so much.  Even the smallest donation can do something for others without you even knowing it.

Another great cause to donate to is the Salvation Army.  Along with Goodwill, this organization is spread throughout the nation with its mission to provide donations to those in need.  The coolest thing about the Salvation Army is that its message is solely based on the Bible and motivated by the love of God.

If you want to help, start making a “Donations” pile.  Everything you see in your closet that you could live without goes into this pile and soon enough you’ll be helping families across the country!

            Hey insiders!

Peer pressure gets to all of us.  Whether you’re in middle school, high school, or even in your adult years, we’re all tempted in different ways and forms.  It’s not fun or easy, but there are many ways to resist it.Chelsea Crockett - Peer Pressure

  • Stand your ground.  All of us have a set of rules and values for ourselves that we try to follow as much as possible.  If anyone tries to change those values, stand your ground.  Learn how to say no and follow your gut on what’s right.
  • Choose your friends wisely.  It’s easier to avoid peer pressure when you’re surrounded by good people that share the same values as you.  This way you won’t have to worry about them tempting you into doing something you’re not comfortable with.
  • Be confident.  Go into the situation with a mindset of “no one will change who I am or what I believe.”  Once you have a secure mindset, you’ll be a lot stronger and more confident in walking away.
  • Think of the consequences.  Is the situation really worth the consequences?  Think very carefully about what you do before you do it.  Bad decisions can weigh on you and carry a big amount of guilt.

Although there are more ways to resist peer pressure, I find these four the most effective.  Remember, “To be popular isn’t always right and to be right isn’t always popular.”

Hi Insiders,

Do you share a room or small space with a sibling or live away at school with a   roommate?  Sometimes, sharing a small space with someone can be very difficult.  Personalities clash, cleanliness becomes a problem, and some of their habits may bug you!  Here are a few tips to keep you and your roommate or sibling from budding heads.Chelsea Crockett- dorm

Everyone wants their own space and their own place to get away, but sometimes you’ve got to share a space with someone for long periods of time.  Make sure to always pick up after yourself even if you’ve had a long day.  A lot of people get in the habit or throwing their clothes on the ground and don’t clean it up until it becomes too much!  Keep your clutter under control.  If your roommate does something that bothers you, take a breather.  Everyone does things differently.  Just because he/she may whistle constantly doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing!  If it bothers you that much and you’ve gave it some thought, then kindly bring up the matter with your roommate.  If they set 10 alarms before their 8a.m. class, then it’s okay to bring that up right away!  Rate the issue on a scale of 1-10 and think about if the issue is worth discussing!  Always be open with your roommate.  It’s hard to keep secrets when you’re living so close to that person.  No matter who they are, always try to be their friends.  I know I’d rather be friends with my roommate than enemies!

Take all of this into consideration and enjoy having a roomie!  One day you might actually miss it!  Be honest, courteous, and open…all of these attributes go a long way!

Hey Insiders!

If you are like me, you are always looking for good, clean music to listen to. Today I am going to fill you in on who my favorite Christian bands and artists are! I love listening to their music because it uplifts me and reminds me of how great God is.

Hillsong United: I absolutely love this band. I especially love their new song “Oceans”. It talks about standing strong in your faith and knowing that God will keep you above the waves of life. A few of the lyrics go like this: “Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me, You’ve never failed and You won’t start now.” This means that even though we may fall, God will always pick us right back up!

All Sons and Daughters: This band is a mix of acoustic and folk Christian music. They have a really unique sound and their voices blend together so beautifully! Go check them out, I am sure you are going to love them!

Aaron Shust: I love this guy! His songs like “My Savior My God” and “Give Me Words to Speak” are just a few of my favorites. Christ’s love and mercy is explained so beautifully through his songs!

Hey darlings!  In my opinion, organization is the key to everything, especially when trying to keep your room clean.  We ALL struggle with this, but with a few tips it’s not as hard as you think to keep your room clean!

  1. Hanging Space.  If you have a large amount of clothes, try buying smaller hangers.  Avoiding big, bulky hangers will provide more space for your actual clothes.  Try dividing your clothes up into categories (sweaters, jackets/coats, shirts, etc…).  This will make it easier to find things and disappear that cluttered closet look.Chelsea Crockett - Organization
  2. Shoes and Purses.  Having a separate spot for your bags and shoes is a smart idea.  This will help you avoid throwing and shoving your things repeatedly in your closet.  We all know it starts to get overwhelming when your stuff piles in the floor of your closet.  Plus, it looks super messyFrown!
  3. Fold Your Clothes.  If you fold certain clothes such as plain T-shirts or hoodies, make sure you avoid piling.  Throwing your clothes into boxes, cubbies, or shelves will result in lots of clutter.  Make sure you keep your things neat and folded!
  4.  Cubbies.  Almost anywhere you can find cubbies or boxes to place your clothing.  Hanging shelves or cubbies are a perfect spot to put shoes or your folded tees for perfect organization.

As far as other accessories go, come up with a creative way to keep your things organized that works for you.  I hope these tips help you stay clean, organized, and clutter-free!

Breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day!  Starting your day off with a healthy meal is a great way to fuel your metabolism and get your day going.  Sometimes, it’s not always easy to make yourself a good breakfast when you you’re in a rush for school or work, but it IS possible!  Get rid of that boring cereal or granola bar and rethink breakfast with these new and creative ideas.

Toast is one of the most popular breakfast sides.  With so many topping choices, the variety is endless!  So what if you’re sick of the typical butter and jelly?  Try topping your toast with peanut butter and sliced bananas or any flavor of cream cheese with a handful of blueberries and strawberries.  Toast doesn’t have to be boring!

If you like salty breakfasts try Egg Beaters!  It’s eggs already mixed up, so all you have to do is pour and cook!  They come in all different flavors including three cheese and southwest.  Try making an omelet stuffed with your favorite meat, veggies, and cheeses.  If you don’t have time to cook in the morning, make pre-made omelet muffins.  Start by greasing a muffin pan so the eggs don’t stick.  In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and any toppings you would like, including meat, cheese, and veggies.  Fill each muffin cup evenly and bake at 350° for 20 minutes.  Now, you have breakfast ready in advance.  Just heat and enjoy!  Chelsea Crockett- omelette muffins

Never skip out on breakfast!  Your body will love you if you fill it up with a hearty and healthy breakfast.  Breakfast doesn’t have to be boring.  Get creative and rethink breakfast!

Hi Insiders!
As all of you know, my favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11.  It states,
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares The Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  We serve a big God!  He wants to do new and big things in your lives and mine.

Chelsea Crockett - Jeremiah 29 11With God on our side, anything is possible.  God can open doors and opportunities that you may think are impossible.  Start making room in your mind for what God may have in store for you.  You must conceive it in your heart and mind before you can receive it.  Pray for wisdom about decisions and then wait expectantly to hear from God.

Keep your “spiritual eyes” focused on positive thoughts so your life can move in that direction.  Focus on the good things in life and continually give thanks. Start your day with faith, spend time with God, and then wait for his favor to help you rise above life’s challenges.  Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life…..A New Year, A New You!

Hey insiders!

As you all have seen in some of my pictures, tweets, videos, etc., I love The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.  It’s easily one of the best books I’ve ever read.  Most people haven’t heard of the other amazing books he’s written, so I’m here to give you a little inside on John Green’s other award-winning accomplishments!Chelsea Crockett - John Green Books

If you’re a book worm, there’s no doubt you’ve at least heard of The Fault in Our Stars.  It’s the story of Hazel, a cancer patient that falls head over heels for a former cancer survivor, Augustus Waters. I can’t get over how outstanding this book is and I highly suggest you read it!  Click here to check it out:http://tiny.cc/TheFaultinOurStars

Another must-read is Looking for Alaska. This is a story about a boy nicknamed “Pudge” that transfers to a boarding school named Culver Creek. He meets a girl named Alaska and automatically develops a crush on her.  I don’t want to give too much away, but that it’s an awesome book.  Get it here if you’re interested:

In addition to these two, there’s Paper Towns, Let It Snow, An Abundance of Katherines, and a few others.  There’s also Will Grayson, Will Grayson which my friend is currently reading… and loving! John Green is an amazing author whose books will bring you to tears.  So, next time you’re home on a rainy day, kick back and open up one of these incredible books!

Usually big, square glasses would be considered nerdy, but it seems they have made their mark as a trend recently!  If you want a more “hipster” feel, I definitely would consider checking them out next time you’re in need of some glasses.  If you’ve got perfect vision, you can grab a fake pair at Claire’s for only a few dollars!

Chelsea Crockett - Record PlayerAs teenagers, we all have a picture phone or a digital camera.  Back in the day, Polaroid cameras were the “best new thing.”  They’ve now started to make their way back into the picture.  If you’re into photography, you can buy them at Urban Outfitters or sometimes even find a steal at a garage sale!  They take super cool pictures and develop them immediately for you to hang or frame.

Another old fashioned thing that Urban Outfitters sells is a record player.  They also have records of up-to-date artists such as Mumford & Sons and John Mayer.  They give off a vintage feel and are a fun accessory to your room!  Make sure you check em’ out!

Traveling is one of the most enriching and beneficial experiences anyone could ever undergo.  Emerging yourself into a new culture with unfamiliar people and territory is a way to step out of your comfort zone and experience God’s majestic world.  By traveling, you allow yourself to grow as a person and have fun doing it!  The reasons for traveling are endless.

As surprising as it may sound, traveling helps create new friendships!  When I travel to New York and California for beauty conventions, I create a new bond every time.  Long-lasting relationships can actually happen!  If you’re going outside the country, it’s a fantastic way to pick up on a new language, try a new food, or step out of your comfort zone.  Snorkel in Australia, jump off a cliff in Greece, or take a silly picture under the Eiffel Tower!  Being in a different country can be scary, but the rewards and stories that come out of it will be life changing.Chelsea Crockett- cliff jumping in Greece

Whether you’re staying in the United States or crossing boarders, the adventure that lies ahead of you is always amazing!  Challenge yourself to try something you’ve never done before on your next vacation; or gain a new outlook on life.  I promise you, you WILL never be disappointed in traveling.

Who doesn’t love a trip to the salon? Getting your hair done can give you a bounce in your step! There are a few things you need to take care of before you go to the salon to make sure you get the most out of your visit! Stay tuned to hear the deets.

  1. Research salons: The first thing you need to do is do your research. Check which salons have the best prices, the best service, the closest to your home, all that jazz! Some salons offer deals around the holidays, so you
  2. k13024915could even find coupons or special offers that will save you money! Read the reviews on the salons to see what other people say about them.
  3. Find photos: The only person who really knows what you want is YOU! The best way to ensure that your stylist knows EXACTLY what you want is by bringing her pictures of what you want. My favorite place to look is Pinterest! Also, when you bring in a picture the stylist can give you advice on whether that hair style is a good choice for you.
  4. Book your appointment: In order to make sure that you have the time that you need, book your appointment a few days ahead of time.  Also, make sure you are on time!! if you are late, the stylist cannot take their time and do your hair the best they can, and it is also mega rude to be late! It is a waste of their time and yours.

Make sure to keep these tips in mind when you are planning a trip to the salon!

Do you moan and groan every time that 7a.m. alarm clock goes off for school?  I sure do!  If you’re like me, then you love to sleep in and cherish a dark, quiet room.  I’ve started to try to hate my mornings a little less.  Doing so actually makes your day easier!  Now this may sound impossible to you, but I promise it’s doable!  Follow these simple tips and you’ll be on your way to an easier morning!

Natural light is one of the best alarm clocks there is!  Instead of sleeping with your blinds closed or a dark curtain, sleep with them open or opt for a sheer curtain.  The natural light, which will start to appear before your alarm goes off, will make it easier to wake up.  Since it’s harder to sleep in a bright room, your body will start to wake itself up on its own.  Another great way to wake up easier is to use citrus lotion or body gel.  Studies have shown that the smell of citrus in theChelsea Crockett- citrus body wash morning actually triggers the brain to wake up faster.  For your next morning shower, try an orange scented body wash!

Delete that boring default alarm ring from your phone and apply one of your favorite songs to get your day going.  I mean, who doesn’t love waking up to the sound of Beyoncé’s voice? Last, have a positive attitude!  When you first wake up think of all the good things you have to look forward to that day.  Don’t stress about that honors history test.  Look past that and think positive!  Start your mornings off right…be happy!

Hi Ladies,

Are you one of those girls who loves fashion and constantly has a smart phone in your hand?  If you’ve watched my videos, then you know that’s precisely me!  I’ve recently stumbled across this new app called “The Hunt” that I just had to share with all of my Insiders and it’s free!  It has become my new favorite app and helps out fashion gurus like myself!  Let’s check it out!Chelsea Crockett- the hunt app

“The Hunt” app helps you find out where to buy a clothing item you saw in a picture.  It’s really simple.  Start by downloading the app and making a profile.  Once you’ve done that, then it’s time to start hunting!  By clicking on the “start hunt” button, upload a picture of a clothing item or accessory that you would like to find.  You can enter a description of what exactly you’re looking for or if you want something similar.  Once you’ve upload the picture then other users can help locate the item you are looking for.  This way you can eventually purchase it!

Next, check out the “home” button and help others find what they’re looking for!  If you see an item that you are familiar with, let the user know where to purchase it from. By clicking on “add find” you can add a link for the user to purchase their desired item.  It’s such a fun way to interact with and help out fellow fashion lovers!  Start the hunt today!

                Hi all!

It’s that time of year when we all decide to make changes for the new year.  Of course, exercising and eating better are always on many people’s lists.  This year, however, I would like to challenge you to think outside of the box and focus on goals to help yourself and others!  Here are a few ideas.Chelsea Crockett - New Years Resolutions                Happiness is good for your health and our happiness increases when we help others.  Volunteering is a great way to help others.  Find a local charity or animal shelter where you can give a hand or help to raise money for.  If you make volunteering a resolution, you will certainly be giving back to the community and that will help you to feel really good about yourself!
Another healthy resolution would be to stay in touch with old friends or family.  So often our lives get so busy that we fail to keep in touch with those who mean so much to us.  Just spending a little extra time with grandparents can mean the world to them and you.  You can learn so much from their wisdom and you’ll never regret the time you spent to bond with them.
Blessings to your New Year, Insiders!  Comment below and let me know what creative resolution you have made this year to think outside the box!
