Fall Guide to Pairing Jeans and Boots

Okay ladies, do you ever pull on a pair of jeans in the fullsizerender-54morning and then stare at your shoes thinking “What kind of boots do I wear with these?!” because, lets face it, finding the right kind of boots for each style of jeans can be quite a task. Are booties best? Riding boots? Over-the-Knee boots? Wedges? So many options! I came up with a handy dandy cheat sheet to help guide you in your pairing.

  1. Skinny jeans: If you are keeping it casual, knee-high boots like riding boots are best for these jeans. If you are getting a little more dressy, try wedges or short stylish booties.
  2. Boyfriend jeans: These jeans are so fun to wear. Simple short booties work great with these for a simple but stylish ensemble.
  3. Flared jeans: These jeans are super slimming. If you are keeping it casual, wear a pair of suede wedge booties. This look is a little bit retro and a whole lot cute.
  4. Boot cut jeans: If you are going the casual route, wear booties. As the name suggests, these jeans are perfect for boots!

Trying to find the right jeans to wear with certain pairs of boots can be a stressful situation when you are running out the door in the morning. I hope this super simple guide helps with the process, and if not, just search outfit ideas on Pinterest!

One trend I am loving this fall is the button-up a-line skirt. I think it is so retro and cute! I have been experimenting with different ways to wear mine this fall, and I have come up with a few favorites. Here they are!

  1. Preppy and classic: Sometimes its fun to play up your preppy side. For a cute classic look, take a suede button-up skirt and pair it with a simple cotton oxford shirt. Add in a scarf that ties it all together and you are ready to hit the town! This is a great casual date night or outing outfit.skirt
  2. Sleek and trendy: If you are looking for a trendy outfit, look no further than a button-up a-line with a simple turtleneck and booties. If you want, you can even layer tights under the ensemble! If you want a sleek look, go for a darker colored shirt, booties, and tights.
  3. Cute and casual: This is how I wear my a-line skirt most often. I have been obsessed with off-the-shoulder tops lately, so I recently paired my skirt with a long sleeve, white off-the-shoulder top. I love the effortless look of this outfit! This is perfect for a warmer fall day.skirt-2

There are tons of ways to wear a-line skirts this fall! Have fun experimenting and finding your favorite look.

Necklace Layering 101

When I am planning out my outfits, I always have to plan out the jewelry too. Lately I have been loving the layered necklace trend. It adds dimension and uniqueness to your look! Plus, there are so many variations you can do. I will admit, though, that it took a lot of practice to get the art of layering down. There are ways to make your layering look like it flows and like the pieces work together. Here is necklace layering 101!bbceaaa468e8980d22628679bfd962ce

  1. Play with different lengths: Wearing short, medium, and long necklaces together lets you showcase all three necklaces and also gives your look different levels of dimension.
  2. Work with shapes: Wear necklaces that feature different shapes. This draws attention to the individual pieces and the whole look. Try a necklace with a small circle and another with a bar.
  3. Mix it up: Mix up the different metals! Use silver and gold necklaces in your layering. It adds dimension!
  4. Keep it simple: I have a necklace that I wear every day. I never leave the house without it, and I always feel “dressed” when I have it on. From there I can add pieces to my look if I want depending on my outfit! Also, necklace layering doesn’t have to be done when you are dressed up and going out, it can be done when you are wearing a simple tee and jeans! It can give a simple feminine touch to an outfit in need of some pizzazz.

I love this trend because it is an easy way to express yourself and play with fashion! There is really no “wrong” way to layer.

The “tassel” trend is one of my faves right now. My favorite store in my hometown, “MOD”, has some great tassel pieces that I have my eye on. I know this fashion trend will be in full swing this fall, so I want to make sure you know all the details! Here are my favorite ways to rock the trend.tassel

  1. With necklaces: I love the tassel necklace trend. You can spruce up any simple ensemble with a spunky tassel necklace. I love the pops of color and accents they add!
  2. On handbags: This is such a fun way to make your outfit pop! Keep your outfit simple, wear whites or other neutrals, and add in a handbag featuring tassels. I love the fun playfulness of them!
  3. On apparel: Show your fun, fashionista side by wearing pieces that feature tassels! I love this shirt that has tassels on the bottom. Wear it with a pair of jeans and cute flats and you are ready for a fun day out on the town, or it can even be a simple date night outfit!

Will you be rocking the tassel trend this fall?

I am convinced that I belong near the beach. I am going to Cali for college, so my beach dreams are coming true! I love beach fashion, from swimsuits to sunglasses to sandals. There is one more piece of beachwear that may just be my favorite, and that is coverups! Here are 3 of my favorite swimsuit coverup styles this season.

  1. Lacey: Lacey coverups are fun and feminine. I love that you can still see some of your swimsuit peeking through the holes in the lace. If you prefer a delicate, girly coverup then this one is for you!kimono
  2. Kimono: If you are a boho kind of gal, then the beach kimono is right up your alley. This look is so effortless and breezy, plus kimonos come in a million different colors and patterns so you are bound to find one you love!
  3. Sheer: To me, this look just screams “beach.” If you like high fashion or never go anywhere without being dressed up and accessorized, then I think you will dig this coverup. It is long, which gives it a more “dressy” look, and is sheer so it gives you a beachy, fun vibe as well.

Coverups are just another way to show your personal style when you are headed to the beach!

When I think of summer style, I think of white. White is such a bright, crisp, clean color and can give off a beachy, breezy vibe. Here are a few of my favorite white summer pieces to wear in the summer.

  1. LWD: Or, little white dress! I love sundresses. You will see me wearing a dress way more than shorts during the summer. They are a great way to look cute and stay cool at the same time! I am loving the halter style of top this season, so for this blog I am choosing to show you a halter style sundress. So cute and can be worn in both casual and dressy situations!white1
  2. Romper: A white romper is playful and so pretty. This romper also has the halter style top! If you don’t want to wear a sundress but shorts and a tank don’t sound appealing, then rompers are a perfect middle ground. So cute and so comfy.
  3. Off the shoulder top: To me, off the shoulder tops are so fun and flirty. They are also cool and breezy so they keep you from getting too toasty. I love this effortless, easy going look.

I love summer whites, don’t you?

Mmmkay, so let me tell you about a fashion trend that I am totally loving right now. It is the “off-the-shoulder” clothing trend. If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen me rocking the trend in a dress from MOD! I feel like this trend is so fun, effortless, and feminine. Here are 3 of my favorite ways to wear the trend.

  1. On a dress: This is my favorite way to rock the off-the-shoulder trend. One reason is because I love wearing dresses and would wear them every day if I could. The second is because it is just so fun and flirty! Perfect for a spring or summer date night or wedding.dress
  2. On a shirt: An off-the-shoulder shirt with a pair of skinny jeans is a great everyday look during the sprng and summer time. It is such a breezy, chic combo.shirt

How to Wear Long Skirts as a Short Gal

Maxi skirts are a clothing item that has been in style for a while and doesn’t have an end in sight. As spring comes in full swing and summer fast approaches, I reach for my maxi skirts. They are the perfect length to keep your legs sheltered on chilly spring mornings yet breezy enough to keep you cool during the early summer months! That being said, us short gals can have some issues when wearing long skirts, like them dragging on the ground, our feet getting caught on them BECAUSE they’re dragging on the ground, some make us look too short and wide, the list goes on. Tired of feeling this way, my petite ladies? Read on to find out how to make maxi skirts and dresses work for you!

  1. Hem it yourself: Hemming a skirt is pretty simple, and it is a cheap solution to a skirt that is too long but you love it. All you need is an iron, needle, thread, and a sewing machine if you don’t want to hem it by hand.2836c1bc55a457aaa2bacbec3ab39913
  2. Dry it: Toss it in the dryer to shrink it a bit, depending on the fabric. Be careful not to shrink it too much!
  3. Wear heels: This is the easiest solution of them all. Just wear a pair of heels with the long dress or skirt to keep it from dragging! It involves zero money spent and almost zero effort. Plus, it is super fun to pair different heels with your skirt to find the perfect match!
  4. Shop the kids section: Not only is it cheaper, it actually might fit you better!

Wearing maxi skirts and dresses IS possible, my petite pretties! Don’t let the haters tell you they’re not for you.

It is a rule of thumb to never wear white to a wedding, but what about to a bridal shower? Not many people talk about the do’s and dont’s of bridal shower attire, so that is what I am here for! Spring and summer are prime wedding season, and one of my friends is getting married this summer, so this is good to know! Usually, sweet, fun, and girly are three good adjectives to describe shower attire. If you are attending a bridal shower soon, check out this style guide to get the low-down.

  1. First, floral: Floral patterns qualify as fun AND girly! I have been really into floral prints lately. They look so fresh and sweet. They even give a slight retro vibe! Here is my floral pick.

Processed with VSCOcam with s3 preset

  2. Then comes sweet and simple: Soft colors are always a safe choice when it comes to spring and summer wear, especially bridal shower attire. This pastel halter dress encompasses the “sweet and simple” vibe perfectly!
  3. Finally, girly: What is more girly than ruffles? Nothing. I am convinced. A ruffled off-the shoulder dress is a simply adorable choice of attire. Wear with sandals or wedges for a sweet summer vibe.

Next time you are heading to a bridal shower, think “sweet, floral, and girly” when picking out your outfit and you will be in good shape!

Everywhere I turn, swimsuits are being advertised in every store, magazine, and website! That officially means goodbye to winter and hello to warm weather! There are tons of different styles to choose from, but there are three that are at the top of the charts for summer 2016!

High neck swimsuits are super stylish and comfortable! When I first saw this type of suit, I was worried about tan lines and how it would look after a long day in the sun. Instead, I bought one for nightChelsea Crockett - Triangl swims, waterparks, or hot tub nights! They’re more secure and comfortable then a normal bikini which is perfect for a day on waterslides.

I’ve recently been seeing a lot of different fabrics of swimsuits, and they’re so cute! Some stores have been selling crocheted bikini tops or wetsuit material sets. They’re different than the basic bikini! The brand Triangl is known for their unique material used in making their swimsuits (like the ones on the left!). They resemble a wetsuit so they’re stretchy and flexible!

I love wearing one-pieces. A lot of the time, they’re my go-to swimwear! They’re easy, comfy, and give off a modest look. A lot of one-pieces have a fun twist to them, maybe it’s a unique pattern, cutouts, or the type of material. All you have to do is look for one that’s your style! Once I found some that worked for me, I fell in love with one-pieces!

Rock the Retro Look

Vintage & retro hairstyles are coming back with a bang! When I see pictures of women in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s I am always so jealous of their hair. They wore it in such cool ways! Luckily, lots of those styles are making a comeback! Here are a few of my favorite retro hair styles and how to style them.

  1. Tied-up updoo: If you have ever seen pictures of “Rosie the Riveter” then you know where this style came from! I love it because it is a quick, easy, adorable way to pull your hair up. It is also great for second-day hair that is looking a bit greasy. The scarf hides it! Here is how to do it: Work some texturizing spray through your hair, then curl it with a large barreled iron. Spritz with hair spray, then pin random curls into a messy bun. Tie a pretty head scarf retro 4around your head to finish it off!
  2. Retro waves: When I see this hair style I think of knee-high white leather boots and some giant bug-eyed sunglasses! Or I think of Daphne from Scooby Doo. Either one works ;). Here is how to do this look: Curl your hair with hot rollers, then use dry shampoo at your crown for some volume. Tease it a bit at the crown, and then finish with a spritz of hair spray, not too much that it looks sticky or rough!
  3. Victory rolls: This hair style makes me want to put on a poodle skirt and go to the drive-in! So retro and so classic. It gives a great ‘40s vibe and would look absolutely adorable with a full skirt, lace dress, or silky blouse. Here is how to create this look: Lightly spray texturizing spray to give your hair some grip, and then blow dry it. Part your hair down the middle, then twist one side back and pin it into place at the nape of your neck. Then repeat with the opposite side. Connect the ends, twist them back into a soft bun, and finish with a light mist of hair spray.

These styles are great for a day when you are feeling like you want to mix things up. Plus, they are all easy to do! Which is YOUR favorite retro look?

As a runner, I know how hard it is to find hair styles that work for working out. When I am running, I hate the feeling of my ponytail swooping back and forth, I hate it when braids hit my back, and I cannot stand hair in my face! There are only a few hair styles I approve of when going on a run for those reasons. Here are my favs!

  1. Low pony: This is the easiest style of them all. Low ponies are better than high because they don’t swoosh around when you’re running. They’re quick to do, and to keep the flyaway hairs out of your face add in a headband.hair
  2. French braid: This one is my go-to running style. I love it because, like a low ponytail, it doesn’t swoosh around when you run, and the braid keeps the hair off of your neck and off of your forehead. Plus it is super cute!
  3. Mini Ponies: This last style is the most complicated, but that being said it is still very easy to do. It is great for ladies with long hair or lots of layers. Grab the section of hair at the top of your head into ponytail. Tie it with an elastic. Gather another section further down and secure it into an elastic, including the top section. Keep this going until you secure the final ponytail with a more durable band.

Having my hair secured while I run is essential for me to have a successful workout. Without having to worry about my hair falling out or getting in my face I am free to run as I please!

Spring and summer hairstyles are my favorite. Braids, buns, updos, and fun ponytials are what I think of! If you are having the winter hair blues, check out this fun ponytail to get you in the spring style mood.bubble ponytail

  1. Pull your hair into a high ponytail. Take a small section from the bottom of the pony and wrap it around the elastic that is pulling your hair back. Pin this hair in place so it is covering the elastic.
  2. Take the top section of ponytail and tease it a bit. Place a clear elastic about 3 inches down on the ponytail, then wrap hair around it and secure like you did on the above elastic.
  3. Continue this process until you reach the end of your hair. Poof out the hair as you go to make the ponytial inbetween elastics “bubble” out.

This hair style is so fun, flirty, and girly! Will you try it this spring?

I have mad respect for anyone who can pull off bangs. Like seriously, you were brave enough to try bangs, and they look great on you! My fear is that if I get bangs I am going to hate them and have to wait agonizingly long for them to grow back. Luckily there are wise people out there that know exactly what bangs look best for your face shape to save you the heartache of bad bangs. Here is a guide to which bangs are best for your face!

  1. Round: If you have a round-ish face, sideswept bangs are a great style to try out. Wearing long, layered bangs can help face_shapesoften your wider cheeks, and wearing trendy blunt, straight-across bangs can actually add some length to your face!
  2. Square: If you have this face shape, you are in good company! Heidi Klum has this shape. Longer, eye-grazing bangs that are thin and layered are best. Avoid super blunt, fringy bangs or you will appear to have a box-shaped face!
  3. Heart-shaped: Short, sideswept bangs work best for this shape! They help draw attention to your eyes.
  4. Oval: Gals with this shape are lucky! You can wear just about any bang shape. If you have thicker hair, fringy bangs are great, and if you have thinner hair face framing bangs are best.

Before you hop on the bang train, keep these shape suggestions in mind!
