I never feel like I have enough time. There are so many things to fit in a day! Because of my hectic schedule, hair appointments are the last thing on my mind. But, they have to happen at some point! Here are ways to make the most for your hair appointments and to help get you in and out of there!452735bcc9ac66847cbacfef9f54b1f6

  1. Know what you want: Give the hair stylist something to work with, like a photo of the cut or color that you are wanting. This helps the stylist know the direction you want to go and saves time because you aren’t trying to verbally explain it to them.
  2. Plan ahead: Know approximately how much time you think you will need for the appointment so you and the stylist don’t feel rushed. Plan it into your day just like you would anything else. Block out time for it.
  3. Don’t go in with wet hair: Your stylist is going to want to look at your hair dry to see how it normally looks, and they are going to want to feel it to see if there is a lot of damage they will need to trim off. If you come with a wet head, they will have to blow dry it before you start the appointment, which takes time. Save time, go dry!

Next time you need to make a trip to the salon, try these time-saving tips to make the most of it!

Don’t get me wrong, I love working out by myself. Long runs with just me and my music are great therapy. But, working out with friends has its perks too! Here are the benefits of working out with friends, besides much-needed girl time.

Accountability: When you are forced to schedule your workout ahead of time or don’t want to cancel on friends, it is a great way to stay accountable!635980440725861308438135525_bd4e6a743aeb93e9e09220cf56b83739

Motivation: When the going gets tough, your buds can provide that extra boost of energy! We all have those days when the last thing we want to do is work out, so having a friend to get you off your tush and into the gym is always a bonus.

Learn more exercises: Your friends can teach you new moves and ways to work out! I love mixing up my exercise routines. They can teach how to use different machines at the gym or they can show you new fitness classes that you would never have known about if it weren’t for them!

Healthy competition: Everyone knows you work harder when you are competing against someone! 😉

It’s more fun!: Working out with a friend is just downright fun.

Get up, grab a friend, and hit the gym.

If you are in a long distance relationship like me, you know how hard and emotionally rough it can be. Relationships are already a lot of work, so add in distance and you’ve really got a challenge! I strive to be the best girlfriend I can be, even from a thousand miles away. Here are some of my tips on how to keep your relationship strong despite the distance.

  1. Give him your full attention: When you are on the phone with him or skyping, get rid of distractions. You want him to know that when you are talking to him that he has all of your attention. You want to make the most of the little time you have together.FullSizeRender (34)
  2. Be the “friend” in girlfriend: Be his best friend! Be the one who they can talk to and share all of their hopes, dreams, and fears. Ask him how his day went, tell him the funny parts of your day, and just be a friend! Things don’t have to be romantic all the time.
  3. Don’t sweat the small stuff: Don’t focus on the negative and don’t pick fights. When you focus on the negative, all you will see is negative!
  4. Love something he loves: Does your boyfriend like football or a certain band? Ask him about how his favorite team is doing or download some of the band’s music and discuss it with him when you talk to him next. Watch an episode of his favorite tv show with him over skype. By sharing in the things he loves, you are becoming closer and you are showing him how much you care!
  5. Don’t text him allllll the time: A few texts during the day is just fine. You both understand that you are busy, and feeling like you have to constantly keep texting each other can make you feel a little stressed. Wait until the end of the day to catch up on everything, it will give you more to talk about when you are together or when you have his undivided attention. Plus, he needs his space and you need yours!

Long distance relationship-ers…I’m with you! I feel your pain! You are not alone. We got this. J

This week, my close high school friends have started leaving for college. The fact that we are all going our separate ways and are growing up is starting to hit me hard. I know I will make lots of new great friends in college, but I also don’t want to neglect my childhood friends because we have been through so much together! I want to be able to stay close to them, even when we are apart. Here are a few ways I have found to stay in touch with your hometown friends when you go your separate ways.

  1. Say a proper goodbye: Go out and have a special evening with your friends before you both go your separate ways. Celebrate your friendship, share fun memories, and wish them luck on their new adventure! Remember that it’s not goodbye forever, just for a little while!FullSizeRender (24)
  2. Set your expectations for keeping in touch: Talk to your friends about keeping touch. Remember that it is important to maintain your old friendships, but it is also really vital that you make new ones! Remind each other that you won’t be talking as much as you used to, and that its okay and doesn’t mean you don’t care about each other. You will both need to find a healthy balance between maintaining old friendships and cultivating new ones. Remind them that you can keep in the loop through social media, too! They can stay up to date with everything you are doing that way. The first week of school, it will be tempting to text old friends and check up with them on social media, but try and put your phone down and be in the moment.
  3. It’s OK to feel nervous: Realize that it is normal to be nervous about making new friends. Don’t try and fight your anxiety, embrace it!

Your high school friends will always have a special place in your heart, so keeping in touch is important!

Why I Have A Daily Time Alone with God

Every day I have a quiet time with God. It is my time with God to show Him that He is first in my life. If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, you have probably seen me post photos of what I am studying or learning about. I love diving into God’s word and seeing what He will teach me. Here are 3 reasons I make my daily time with God a priority.

  1. God is my refuge: When life gets crazy, scary, overwhelming, or is just getting the best of you, we should run to God. I find safety and rest in God. Knowing that I have that safe place with Him comes from studying His word. I do a daily time with God even when life is great, because I am preparing for the times when life is not-so-great.FullSizeRender (29)
  2. It is a way to worship Him: Time is precious, and we don’t have much of it. We are a go go go society, and we fill our days to the brim. Since time is limited, what we spend our time on shows what we value. When we give God part of our day and spend time with Him, we show Him that we value Him. We show Him he is worthy of our time.
  3. It is exercise: Soul exercise, that is. We exercise our bodies to keep us healthy and strong, so why not exercise our soul to do the same? Devotions force our attention off of ourselves and our selfish distractions and desires and put our pursuit onto God and His purpose and promises for us. When we stop working out, our bodies get out of shape, and when we stop spending time with God every day, our Faith does the same.

I encourage everyone to dive into God’s word and spend time with Him every day. It is amazing what a difference it can make in your life.

5 Steps to Loving Yourself

We’re all at that crucial age of figuring out who we want to be, despite the pressure coming from friends, society, and many other factors that try to shape us into who they want us to be instead.  With all of the standards and expectations put on girls throughout social media, magazines, movies, etc., they make it hard to love the skin we’re in… But that’s exactly what we need to learn to do!  Here are 5 steps that will make you start loving yourself fully and wholeheartedly! Chelsea Crockett - Love Yourself Quote

  1. Avoid perfection.  Putting impossible standards on yourself will never make you happy!  You’ll be let down every time.  Don’t expect to be someone you can’t and shouldn’t be!
  2. Stay off of social media.  I don’t mean to delete all of your accounts and shut yourself out of them forever.  What I mean by this is to not log on just to compare yourself to every girl you see.  If you find yourself doing this, just log off and find something fun and positive to do.
  3. Look in the mirror and point out three things you love about yourself every day.  Positive reassurance is totally underrated.  It really works!  Give yourself three compliments each morning to continue finding things you love about yourself.
  4. Get the right mentality.  Having a negative attitude never helps in any situation.  Work on being happy and positive when it comes to your body.
  5. Acknowledge your achievements and treat yourself.  Sometimes we get down on ourselves for thinking that we’ve failed and just want to give up.  Acknowledge your success and focus on that!  Treat yourself so you feel rewarded and optimistic!

Hopefully you can soak in these tips and learn to appreciate yourself for who you are!

Sometimes our thoughts can get the best of us. We are our toughest critics. Sometimes we feel insecure about ourselves and put ourselves down instead of feeling comfortable in our own skin and confident in who we are. It is easy to feel uncomfortable in our own skin when we look at others and think “wow, I would love to be them…” You are already perfect just the way you are! Here is how to overcome your negative thoughts and love yourself just the way you are.

  1. Don’t seek others’ approval: Don’t seek validation from other people and don’t base the way you feel about yourself on the way someone else feels about you! Don’t seek other people’s approval. No one knows you like you do! That means FullSizeRenderthat only you can determine your self- worth. When you stop worrying about what other people think about you, you will feel more confident and strong. Just be yourself and the right people will love you for it!
  2. Don’t listen to the media: When you are constantly surrounded by magazines, movies, TV shows, and social media that show us what the “perfect body” and “perfect person” looks like, it is easy to start comparing yourself to them and easy to point out your imperfections. Rather than comparing yourself to that, learn to appreciate your own body and personality and accomplishments! God made you the way He did for a reason. Believe it! Don’t let the media tell you that you need to look or act or feel a certain way. Just do you!
  3. Pick positive people: Surrounding yourself with people who are positive and don’t put you down is so important! They help you see your worth and potential. Positive people help you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin and can help you see just how amazing you are!

Everyone has insecurities, and they are not easy to overcome, but as long as you realize that you are amazing and beautiful and that you can do anything, because God made you and loves you just the way you are, you can start the journey of becoming comfortable in your own skin and confident in who you are.

If you follow Taylor Swift on Instagram, then you have surely seen her pool party pictures. She seems to have the most amazing pool parties ever! One of my favorite things about summer is going to my friends’ houses that have pools because my family doesn’t have one! In light of my pool-lessness, I decided to come up with a few ways to have a pool party…without having a pool! Sounds a bit silly, but read on to find out how!

  1. Location: When you are having a pool-less party, make sure you have it in a place that has a hose and electrical outlets nearby. Also, have it in a place with plenty of grass to give your feet a break!f91108_bb07717e7ada4fd9bda8bd83b29f3558
  2. Pool alternative: Go to Walmart and buy 3 or 4 little kiddy pools and have those sitting out! People will love being able to dip their feet in without having to get their whole body wet. Fun sprinklers are also a must! You can also play slip and slide kickball, which is a total blast. You can also have a water balloon fight, or even just have a volleyball net set up! Give people lots of things to do.
  3. Food and beverage: Have lots of refreshing, juicy fruit cut up and ready to serve. People love fruit on a hot summer day! You can also get fun flavors of soda and lemonade for a nice summer beverage.
  4. Décor: Because you don’t have an actual pool, give your party a “pool party” feel by blowing up inflatables and using them as décor! You can also put up pool umbrellas to give your guests some shade. Use beach balls instead of volleyballs to give your party and even more “pool-ish” feel!

Just because you don’t have a pool doesn’t mean you can’t have a pool party!

Life is stressful. I am sure you know this already! We over-commit ourselves and stretch ourselves thin, trying to get everything done and hang out with everyone we can. Between work, your social life, and lack of sleep your body can take a beating. Giving yourself a break and letting yourself relax will help keep you sane. Here are some signs that your mind and body need a break.FullSizeRender (94)

By looking for the signs that show that our bodies are needing rest and might want to shake some things up, we can stay happier, healthier and more in love with life each day. Here are eleven things to look for in deciding when to take a breather.

  1. Work is life: Don’t let the “workaholic” culture get the best of you! Being motivated to work hard and perform well is
great, but you also need to give yourself a break for downtime. This allows your mind and body to recoup and makes you a better worker.
  2. You feel like you are exhausted: Having a crazy schedule can make you feel exhausted. Try and go to bed at a decent time, and listen to your body when it tells you “hey, I am tired, take a break”.
  3. You feel emotional: Signs that you have pushed yourself too far are that you are irritable, panicked, cant sleep well, and have a different appetite. When your body is fatigued it affects your hormones and mood, which affect everyone around you.

When you start to feel burned out, mentally and physically, it is a sign that you need to take a breather. Take a break and have some “me time”, it will make you happier and healthier and will lead you to a more well-balanced life.

As a teenage girl in the 21st century I am sure you have heard the phrase “modest is hottest.” But, what does it really mean to dress modestly?

When I say “modesty” I mean dressing in a way that is classy and covers what it needs to. It isn’t revealing or distracting and is FullSizeRender (92)tasteful. In the media we often see women dressed in revealing clothes and they are glorified for it. There are many women who are amazing at singing, dancing, acting, and many more things and should be looked up to for this! But when you simply look up to a woman for how she dresses, as a Christian we should be careful of this. Women like Sadie Robertson and Mary Kate who dress with class and are famous and well-loved, these are people I strive to look up to for the way they live and present themselves. As a Christian in a world where everyone does whatever they want, it can be challenging to keep a view of “modesty”. I encourage you to keep your values, because this life we live is not for ourselves, but for God.  1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” This verse tells us that are bodies do not belong to us, they belong to God, so therefore we need to take care of them and show them off in ways that respect Him. They were bought by Jesus dying on the cross. I would also like to add the fact that this is a hot topic in the world, so if you do not agree please respect this view that I have as a Christian.

You are capable of much more than dressing pretty.

What to Pack in Your College Backpack

How many of you would say that you are the “mom” of your friend group? You know, the one who always has band aids and tampons and hand sanitizer in her purse to hand out if people need them, or is the one people call for advice, or is chosen as the one to drive everywhere because she is the “best driver.” This post is for those gals. The ones who always have a spare pair of sunglasses in their purse for anyone who may need them, or lotion in case hands get chapped, or cough drops just in case anyone catches a cold. This post is also for my college freshmen (holla!) who want to know what essentials need to be stowed in your college backpack. Here are the top 5 things you need in that sucker.

  1. A wallet: It doesn’t have to be your “everyday” wallet that is the size of a brick, it can be a small zipper one big enough to keep your license, school ID, credit cards and a bit of cash. It is always good to have this stuff in case of emergency. Or in case you need Starbucks. Either one, really. Oh, and stick your dorm key in that thing as well.school_supplies1
  2. Snack: Because being away from your dorm room/house, AKA where the food is at, calls for packing snacks. It is much cheaper to pack your own snacks rather than buying them on campus, and having munchies readily available keep your energy levels up and your hunger levels down.
  3. Headphones/laptop: Lots of my college buds have told me that they prefer to take notes on their laptops and use them constantly in class for power points and lectures and such, so a laptop is a must-have in your backpack. Also, if you prefer to study in the library or a place like Starbucks but you also like it quiet, you will want some headphones. Also, people tend to not bug you when you have headphones in.
  4. Planner/notebook: Even if you plan to take notes mostly on your laptop, it is good to have a notebook in your backpack just in case. I know from friends that professors may ask you to take out a sheet of paper for certain in class exercises or assignments, so it is always good to be prepared. Also, you NEED a planner in college! I know that between classes, social events, homework, and clubs I am going to be a busy lady, so I need a planner to keep myself on track.

Now, this is not by any means an extensive list, but it is a start!

Failure can be a terrifying thing. You may think you have everything figured out until life takes an unexpected turn. You may be confused and not understand why you can’t succeed. There is much to know about failure including all of the wonderful blessings hidden throughout it. If you’re trying to get through a time of disappointment or failure, then this article is for you!Chelsea Crockett - Failure Quote

In 2 Corinthians 4:2, it says “We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.” Even back in biblical times, God’s people felt pain, rejection, and of course, failure. Proverbs 24:16 says, “The righteous may fall seven times but still get up, but the wicked will stumble into trouble.” Like the picture above, God wants us to persevere, especially through times where we don’t believe we can.

I know you all have heard me talk about the verse Jeremiah 29:11 a numerous amount of times… But if you don’t know it, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I’ve always loved this verse because it constantly reminds me that I shouldn’t be afraid of failure or a little fork in the road. At the end of the day, God will provide a better plan than we could ever put together ourselves. Trust in God and know that we will be successful if we simply follow Him!

We all have bad days. Whether it’s something as little as a bad grade or something a lot bigger, you may start to feel far from God. Sometimes you lose faith or don’t have the time to grow and build your relationship with Christ. It can be frustrating and confusing but we’ve all been there. I came up with a few tips to turn your bad days to good days :).

  • Set apart some alone time to spend with God. Chelsea Crockett - God QuoteIf we never spend time with our friends and family, we will slowly grow apart from them. It’s the same thing with God! Never having some quiet time to listen for what God is trying to tell you will result in farness from God and His plan.
  • Pray, pray, pray. Prayer is powerful! Speaking to God one-on-one will strengthen your relationship with Him.
  • Text a friend from church, a youth leader, etc. If you have a church family that you can rely on, use that to your advantage! If you can’t talk and pray with someone in your family, seek advice from a fellow Christian.
  • Go to church. What’s a better place to get closer to God than being surrounded by good fellowship and the Word?
  • Listen to Christian music. I know when I’m feeling down, I love to listen to my favorite Christian artists. Their songs send very powerful messages that I sometimes need to hear!

I hope these tips help you draw nearer to God and help you remember how much he loves you.

Love, Chelsea

Trust me, I know it is tempting to continue following your ex on social media post-breakup. You want to keep tabs on him, see how he is dealing with the breakup, and how quickly he gets over you. Let me tell you, girl, it isn’t healthy. Here are 3 reasons you should unfriend your ex.

  1. It is hurting more than it is helping: Sometimes, seeing that your ex hasn’t unfriended you after a breakup can make you think that there is hope of you two getting back together. It can also prevent you from moving on. Seeing that ex and what they are up to can make you miss them and forget the reasons you broke up in the first place. It can also tempt you into trying to contact them and get back together. Unfriend them so that you can move on to bigger and better things!unfriend
  2. You won’t compare yourself: Being able to see what they are up to and who they are starting to date hurts. By unfriending them you are preventing yourself from the hurt that comes from comparing yourself to their new boo. It is easy to wonder who is doing better right now, you or him. Did they start dating someone new and you are still single? Did they get a better job than you have? Who cares what they are doing. And who cares who they moved on to. Don’t compare yourself to their new love interest. Your life is just as amazing as theirs, and you are just as great of a person as their new boo, so deleting them allows you to enjoy the ups and downs of your own life.
  3. You will be more of a mystery: If you want to seem like more of a mystery, and like you have moved on to better things, deleting your ex is a great idea. They won’t have access to your profiles and can’t see how you are doing, so they will become curious. If you are friends with them, all they have to do is pull up your profile to see how you are. If you aren’t friends, they actually have to reach out and ask you. If you are wanting to re-connect with them, this is the best way to do so!

Clicking that “unfriend” button is one of the best things you can do for yourself!
