Red velvet flavored items are super popular around Christmas time. They look festive and they taste AMAZING! Red velvet cookies are great to make for holiday parties or get-togethers! Here is how to make super delicious red velvet gooey butter cookies.

Ingredients:

  • 2¼ cups flourRed-Velvet-Crinkle-Cookies-3
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 4 Tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon red liquid food coloring
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

 

In a medium bowl, combine the flower, coca, sugar, baking powder and salt and set aside. In a large bowl mix the butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Beat in the egg and food coloring.

Add the dry ingredients to the cream cheese and butter mixture and mix until dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for about 2 hours.

 

When you are ready to bake preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Place powdered sugar in a small bowl and roll 1 inch balls of dough in the powdered sugar. Once you have rolled the balls of dough in powdered sugar place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes and let the cookies cool completely on a cooling rack.
