Food inspiration can come from a multitude of different things… and since it’s spring, fresh fruits will be sprouting up left and right. It’s time to think about some healthy spring snacks and treats. Where I live, strawberries will be ripe for picking in about one month. Whether you get to go and pick them or buy them at your local market, strawberries are a delicious treat! They are low in calories and fats but rich in nutrients, minerals, and vitamins. Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C which is a powerful natural antioxidant.
Therefore, let’s talk about some awesome snacks made with this yummy fruit! A mom of one of my friends makes a delicious truffle filled with layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding/whip cream mixture, and sliced strawberries. It’s to die for! Sometimes she just buys a store bought cake and crumbles it up to form the layers. It’s one of my favorites!
Another snack that I love with strawberries may sound a bit weird… but don’t judge me until you’ve tried it :)! You take fresh strawberries and dip them in a little sour cream and then brown sugar… it’s divine! It sounds gross at first but the combination of those ingredients is absolutely delicious. You should give it a try!
