The morning hours are some of the most beneficial hours of the day. Our minds are refreshed, awakened, and recharged after a good night’s sleep!

I always like to take advantage of these morning hours. I remember hearing a list of 10 things you should do in the morning before leaving your house, so I thought I’d compile my own list of 9 things to do before 9 AM!

  1. First things first, get out of bed!

Snoozing your alarm time and time again is a bad routine to start, especially when it’s the first thing you do to begin your day! Practice getting out of bed after the first alarm or even after one snooze. After you make it a routine, you’ll find it easier to get out of bed in the morning!

  1. Refrain from checking social media.

As much as we try to deny it, one of the first things most of us do is pick up our phones in the morning. Before we even leave our beds, we’re scrolling through Instagram, Twitter, and whatever else we just haaaave to check to “stay up-to-date.”

This is such a bad habit to start! A lot of the time, social media can make us feel lonely or sad which affects our mood for the rest of the day. Allow yourself time to wake up and do more important things before checking your phone!

  1. Do a quiet time/devotional.

Setting aside time solely devoted to God will allow you to spend uninterrupted, intentional time with him. The more we do these quiet times alone with God, the closer we feel to him. I always feel so much more joyful and at peace after doing these in the morning!

  1. Exercise!

If you like to exercise, what better time to do so than in the morning? It helps wake you up and give you that burst of energy you need for the day. If you don’t love the idea of early morning work outs, try out a stretching or yoga routine instead!

  1. Thank God for your blessings.

When your attitude is gratitude, nothing can ruin your mood! I always like to list all of the things I’m thankful for before even leaving my house in the morning. It instantly puts a smile on my face and starts my day off on the right foot!

  1. Pray over your day.

Whatever your plans for the day are, it’s so important to pray over them. Ask God for safety, patience, peace, or whatever else you’ll need to get you through your day!

7. Eat a big breakfast!

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the energy to take on anything you face throughout your day. Once you make this a routine, you’ll see a huge difference!

  1. Get yourself ready for the day.

I like to keep a checklist that reminds me of everything I need or need to do before I head out the door. I hate the feeling of when I forget something at home when I could’ve easily reminded myself of it before I left!

  1. Pick a Bible verse to meditate on throughout your day.

You don’t have to do this every morning, but pick a verse to meditate on once a week or so. Scripture memory is so important, and this is a simple way to try and memorize a verse while you’re at work, school, etc. Set a reminder on your phone or just read over it in your spare time!
