Girls, we all know how important it is to accessorize ANY look. A more formal outfit requires a chunky necklace and a stylish pair of wedges. On the other hand, a casual outfit may need a pair of fun sandals and a set of bracelets. Recently, I’ve seen a lot of girls wear colorful and printed headbands. Since I started noticing this, I’ve found out some perfect places to shop for and how to even make your own headband!

I know I always say this, but Forever 21 is a hotspot for cute accessories, including headbands! They have Aztec ones, floral ones, and even lace ones. You can dress them up or dress them down.  You can purchase some here!  Another type you can get are twist headbands. They’re almost the same as regular ones, except they have a little twist in the middle. So cute!Chelsea Crockett - Headbands

Instead of spending the time and money to go buy some, you can spend a summer day making them yourself! All you need is a plain colored, preferably white, headband and some fabric markers. Try to find a Boho styled band like the one above.   Then, color away! You can look up different prints to try out. When’s a better time to get crafty then summer?

Tweet me your headband creations! Good luck!

Indie: How to Master the Style

You may have heard of, or even tried, the boho chic style I’ve mentioned in a couple other articles.  If you’re in love with the boho style, just like I am :), you should try out another similar style called indie, or indie rock!  Here are a few tips on how to achieve your look.

Chelsea Crockett - Layering BraceletsThe first step to a perfect outfit is always accessorizing, which is exactly what Indie fashion is about.  Fun, colorful bracelets, like the ones on the left, show the perfect example of how to display your jewelry.  If you’re feeling extra trendy, add in a flowery or lace headband!

As far as shirts go, if you have an oversized graphic or concert tee wear it!  Also, try to stick with subtle colors such as tan, black, yellow, navy, maroon, etc.  Or… you can rock lace, flowers, or anything that gives off a hipster kind of feel.  Tribal patterns, floral prints, and denim are perfect to tie your outfit together.  Avoid neon colors or anything too bright.  It’s all about being subtle and edgy.  This style is perfect for the warm months ahead.  Chic dresses, denim shorts, and retro skirts will be sure to catch peoples’ attention this spring :)!

Hi Lovelies,

Metallic colors have made a splash this year!  They are so easy to incorporate into your wardrobe, especially silver and gold.  These metallics are the new black!  Check out how to add a hint of metallic into your outfits this year.Chelsea Crockett- metallic outfit

Adding a metallic item to any outfit will make it shine!  You can start simple by painting you nails a metallic hue or throwing on a metallic sling handbag as a shiny accessory.  If you really want to dive into the metallic trend, start off by pairing a metallic tee, blouse, or tank in any color you prefer, with black or white skinny jeans.  If you’re wearing a light colored metallic, aim for light colored pants and dark colored pants if you’re wearing a dark colored metallic.  If you really want to go all out, try a pair of metallic pants or a dress.  Metallic pants have been seen all over the runways by the hottest designers.  One of my favorite looks is gold pants with a black or cream top.  Add gold jewelry and a solid colored pair of matte shoes to finish off your look.  If you want to wear a metallic dress, like a silver dress for example, keep the accessories to a minimum.  The dress is enough of a staple in itself!

I hope you try the metallic trend this year!  Comment below if you’ve found a new, fun way to rock a metallic colored item.  Enjoy!

Pastels, They Aren’t Just for the Spring Anymore!

Hi Insiders,

Pastel colors have been making a name for themselves this winter.  What once used to be only for spring is now making its way to the colder months.  Although a full on pastel outfit probably isn’t the best way to style this trend, there are a few great ways to incorporate these soft colors in your everyday winter wardrobe.

Mint green and light pink are two of my favorite pastel colors right now.  The mint green is especially good for winter. Adding fun pastel colored accessories to your wardrobe is a great way to change things up.  Try wearing a soft colored chunky necklace with a cream or grey sweater.  Even try throwing on a light pink cross body with your winter pea coat.  Another great way to add a little pastel to your outfit is to wear a subtle pair of pastel studs.  This will add a touch of color toChelsea Crockett- pastel outfit any outfit.

If you’re willing to be a little more daring, try a mint green dress!  Pair it with black or nude tights and a cardigan.  Even throw on a light colored sweater with cream skinny pants.  These outfits will really standout against the white winter snow!  If you’re going to be outside for a while throw on a pastel scarf, hat, or ear warmer.  There’s nothing cuter than fashionable winter gear!  If you’re wearing a pastel outfit and want to add jewelry, pearls are the way to go!  You don’t want to add bold metal jewelry to soft-toned colors.  Keep it light!  Don’t be afraid to incorporate some of your spring items into your winter wardrobe.  You never know when you’ll inspire someone else to change up their look!

Love,
