If you’re like me, you like shopping for the cutest and trendiest school supplies whether it be decorations for your dorm or pens to take notes with.  One of my favorite things to get for the upcoming school year is a planner to keep my schedule neat and organized. There are a few brands that offer super cute planners that you can buy to get prepped for the school year like me!

  • Vera Bradley.  Chelsea Crockett - School PlannerYou’re probably most familiar with Vera Bradley’s stylish school supplies from pens to laptop cases to planners!  You’re also probably familiar with their fun, floral patterns that their known for. They offer different colored planners so you can find one to match the rest of your school supplies!
  • Lilly Pulitzer.  If you like bright colors and fun patterns, then Lilly Pulitzer is for you!  The planners on the right show two of their most popular styles.  I love the fun elephants and floral prints they offer!  Each page helps you keep your weeks scheduled and organized.
  • Kate Spade.  Kate Spade’s whole style is simple yet stylish.  They only offer a few different planners, but they’re all super cute and will satisfy your planning needs!

As hard as it is to say it, school is quickly approaching.  As for me, I’m headed off to college on the other side of the country!  Whether you’re starting college, high school, or even junior high, there are certain essentials you’ll need to take with you every day to school.  This will help you survive any hair or beauty emergencies you may experience!

  • A Makeup Bag.  First comes first, you’ll need a small bag to put all of your items in.  I would recommend a makeup bag because they’re stylish and come in all different sizes, patterns, and colors!Chelsea Crockett - Back to School Bag
  • Mini Deodorant.  There are too many times when I leave the house forgetting to apply deodorant or perfume, and it’s the worse!  Keep a small, travel size deodorant in your bag for those forgetful days.
  • Shout Wipes/Tide Stick.  A good day can easily be ruined by a stained shirt.  Shout wipes can come in handy when you need them most!
  • Concealer/Foundation.  Whenever I cover up a pesky pimple, it seems to make its way out throughout the day.  Carry some concealer and/or foundation so you can reapply!
  • Money.  There are so many times when I show up to school forgetting I need cash for a t-shirt, field trip dues, etc.  It’s always good to carry around some extra cash!

As for what not to bring, don’t waste space on things that will most likely already be provided in class or at school.  Things such as tissues, medicines, band aids, etc. will probably be available if you ask!  Think of things that you’ll need in case of emergency that they won’t have for you there!

As the school year approaches, most of us are dreading getting back into the routine of waking up early, homework, and much more.  There are certain tips and hacks that will help you get back into the swing of things but will also help you throughout the entire school year.  I know it can get hard!  That being said, here are some hacks from yours truly!

For the first week:

  • Plan exciting breakfasts for you to look forward to.  Chelsea Crockett - School OutfitI know if I have my favorite breakfast in my kitchen with some good coffee to chow down the next morning, I’ll be much happier to get out of bed!  It doesn’t make waking up such a dread!
  • Plan your outfits the night before.  It will save you the time and stress of picking it out while you’re rushing to get ready!  Hang it up so it stays unwrinkled throughout the night.
  • If you’re not 100% confident on knowing your new class schedule, make it your phone’s lock screen.  That way it’s accessible for a quick look.

For the whole year:

  • Studying can get old really fast, especially toward the end of the semester.  Try the tip of studying for 25 minutes then a 5-minute break.  And every third break take an extra 15 minutes!  This will give your brain a little rest so you don’t burn out!
  • When writing an important essay, it’s easy to miss the little typos and grammar issues.  Copy and paste your essay into Google translate and it can read it to you out loud!  It’s much easier to hear your mistakes when listening to it.

Back-to-School Fashion Trends 2015

Unfortunately it’s that time when I have to start blogging about back-to-school topics (UGH!), but it’s always a necessity to know which trends to rock once school starts up again….

Unfortunately it’s that time when I have to start blogging about back-to-school topics (UGH!), but it’s always a necessity to know which trends to rock once school starts up again. Your style is YOUR style, but incorporating different trends into it can be fun!

Shoes are always a fun way to spruce up your look, and this year there’ll be a few trends everyone will be wearing! Last year, some people around school were wearing Chelsea Crockett - ConverseConverse, but over the summer, tons and tons of my friends have hopped on the trend as well! The high top ones are super cute and are fun to wear with boyfriend jeans and a cute shirt! Definitely buy a pair for this school year :).

Certain styles have even made their way back into the picture. Retro styles from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, such as puffy vests, Converse (haha!), and high waisted pants, have all made a comeback. Also, oversized sweaters/shirts and layering cardigans or other articles of clothing is definitely in. Although, where I live it’s still 90 degrees, but I’m sure once fall rolls around, this will start popping up everywhere!

Lastly, trends such as graphic tees, boyfriend jeans, floral patterns, denim, and plenty of others will be sure to be seen throughout your school. Let me know below what you’ll be rocking once school starts!

That dreaded time of the year where all of us have to wake up early and get back into a routine is here again. While I don’t necessarily love school, I do try to make the best of it!  I wanted to share a couple tips to help chase away the blues whether they’re school related or not!

Our minds tend to wander and often times that leads to worry. Fear of the unknown can make us anxious, especially when starting a new year of school. I’ve recently read a book that talks aboutChelsea Crockett - Worry Quote taking control of your mind and thinking on purpose.  You can start by thinking with a grateful heart. As soon as your mind starts to drift to negativity or worry, change the channel and think of good things about the situation. It really works!

If your mind is busy thinking about the things you’re thankful for there won’t be room for worry or sadness. I’m a firm believer that positivity is the key to almost anything in life. So… you can start there and then think with a purpose and plan. Hopefully, your blues will be washed away!

You’ve heard all the cheesy but true “new year, new you” quotes, but starting a new school year doesn’t always mean a new person. Maybe for you it’s simply a fresh start for grades, for friends, etc. There are three quotes that I think describe the start of a new school year perfectly, so here’s a little motivation :).Chelsea Crockett - Success Quote

    1. Alright… Is an article about quotes really an article without Dr. Seuss at least once? I really love this quote: “You’re off to great places. Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting. So get on your way!” For me, I’m starting my senior year. So knowing I’m onto bigger and better things gives me a little motivation every morning!
  • “You will never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” Obviously, we all have to go to school, but doing it with a better and more positive mindset is the key to success. The first thing you should do when you wake up is choose to have a positive outlook on the day. It really makes a difference!
  • Taylor Swift is the queen of quotes. She says: “This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.” Whatever grade you may be, you have to be ready for change. Especially for me, senior year will come with a lot of adapting, knowing I’ll be doing a lot of things for the last time. Be open for change!

            Hey insiders!  Although I’m mostly a makeup girl, I love, love, love trying out new polishes and designs on my nails.  In my last Buy & Try video, I mentioned a couple nail polishes that I tried out and absolutely adored!  Since school’s almost here, I’m going to suggest a few of the best colors that’ll make you pop this school year.

            One of my new favorite brands of nail color is called “Starrily.”  The coolest thing about these polishes is that they are homemade.  Their colors are also super fun, unique, and great quality.  Most of the polishes look like glittery confetti and are very bright and colorful, which I love!  If you want more of a simple look, they also carry solid polishes that are just as cute.Chelsea Crockett - Starrily Nail Polishes

             A really big trend of the summer has been bold, colorful nails.  I’ve seen many celebrities almost everywhere mixing bright pink and blue polishes with a duller look to add a pop to their outfits.  Although it was a summer trend, I think bringing it into the school year is a perfect way to catch peoples’ attention on your first dayWink!

             And of course, you can’t forget the naturals.  Grays, tans, and whites are a timeless trend when it comes to nails.  Adding a topcoat of shimmer or sparkles will still give you that fun look you want but at the same time, it keeps it simple.  Enjoy!

            Hey everyone!  We don’t want to accept it, but school is coming up faster than we think.  Staying organized is one of the biggest things we need to do to succeed throughout the year.  Whether you’re in high school or grade school, you will most likely have a locker to be responsible for keeping it clean and organized.

              Chelsea Crockett - LockerFirst off, dividing and keeping your books in a certain spot each day is a good way to quickly know which book to grab before class.  Buying locker shelves or dividers are perfect for organizing your books, binders, and notebooks.  Click here to check out Amazon’s selection of locker accessories!  To help remember which books are which, try organizing them alphabetically, by color, or in order of your classes.  This will help you easily remember which books to throw in your backpack before class.  

            Another fun tip is to keep a small whiteboard on the side of your locker.  This way you can write notes, reminders, and needed homework for the next day or for what to take home.  Every once and a while remember to take out any old and unneeded homework or papers.  A cluttered locker leads to an unorganized one!
