After the major amounts of delicious food I devoured over Thanksgiving and Christmas break, I feel very much like frosty the snowman. Bloated and fluffy. I would MUCH rather feel tight and toned! I was looking for a way to detox all of the guck I ate over break out of my system and start of the year fresh and healthy, and that is when I found this yummy holiday detox!5+Ingredient+Holiday+Detox+Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1-2 cups of stem-less kale
  • 1 cup apple cider (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup of ice/water
  • Dash of cinnamon

Blend all of these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth. If you want a juice-like texture, use water. If you want more of a smoothie-like drink, go for ice. If you want some extra healthy protein, toss in a handful of your favorite nuts before blending! Just an FIY, the drink will naturally separate as it sits, so there may be a layer of foam at the top of the drink after sitting a while. Just stir it up and drink it down!

Im ready to detox. Are you?

Waking up for school can be a struggle, but making yourself a decently healthy breakfast before school is an even bigger struggle!  It’s easy to just grab a granola bar, pour yourself a sugary bowl of cereal, or worse, skip breakfast all together.  I’ve got the perfect (and healthy) muffin recipe you can whip up on the weekend and eat throughout the week! Chelsea Crockett- healthy chocolate muffins

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 very ripe bananas
  • ¼ cup of maple syrup
  • 1 cup of creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup of cocoa powder

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees.  In a food processor or large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients.  Once mixed, the batter will be VERY sticky.  Make sure to grease the pan before pouring the mixture into the molds.  Try using a wet spoon to get the batter out.  Place the muffins in the oven for 15 minutes and wait until they are completely cool before chowing down!  They should last up to a week if you place them in the fridge!  Hope you enjoy!

Love,

Chelsea

In the winter time it is important to keep up with a healthy diet because we don’t get as much exercise in the winter months. This can be because we don’t have access to a gym or because it is too cold to exercise outdoors. Here is a healthy snack that is quick and easy to make and also tastes amazing. The taste reminds me of ice cream!

Ingredients:IMG_6315

  • 1 small cluster of bananas
  • Any flavor of Greek yogurt
  1. Place parchment paper on a plate or a cookie sheet. Slice up your bananas and then dry off the slices. You can do this and then freeze your slices to use at another time, too, if you want. Once you have dried off the slices, carefully dip the bananas in the yogurt. Use a fork to roll and gently lift the chunks of banana out of the yogurt. Then, place the chunks onto the parchment paper and place in the freezer overnight. Once they are frozen remove the bananas and place them into a Ziploc bag for storage.

One thing I really love about this snack is that it combines my favorite fruit, bananas, and yummy protein-packed Greek yogurt! I like to eat these yummy treats after dinner as my dessert. They are much better for you than ice cream or other sweet sugary treats, but taste just as good!

As some of you may know, I recently began living the vegan lifestyle. Vegan means no animal products and dairy products and things of that sort. I wanted to start living a healthier lifestyle! One of my favorite vegan snacks is bananas. If you follow my Instagram then you have seen the picture of me surrounded by bananas! I have been using all kinds of recipes to work bananas into my diet, and this smoothie is one of my findings! It is so nutritious and delicious!

Ingredients:avocado-banana-smoothie

-1 avocado

– 2 frozen bananas

– 1 cup vanilla yogurt

– ½ cup orange juice

Now I know some of you went “EWWW” when you saw the word “avocado,” but you cannot even taste it. Plus, avocados are an amazingly awesome source of vitamins and healthy fats. All you have to do is combine all of your ingredients into a blender, blend them until it is all smooth and there are no lumps, and viola! You have a delicious, nutritious snack on your hands!

I bet when you think of sushi chopsticks, rice, and raw fish come to mind. Well, for this interesting after-school snack, bananas and Nutella are our sushi ingredients! Here is how to make your very own Nutella and banana sushi!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bananabanana sushi
  • 1 whole wheat tortilla
  • Nutella

I like making this sweet “sushi” in the morning before school because it is a quick and easy breakfast option! Lay your tortilla out flat and spread Nutella all over it. If you want to add some extra flavor and protein, you can add in some peanut butter too! Once you have spread your yummy Nutella over the tortilla, place a peeled banana in the center. Roll the banana up in the tortilla. The Nutella should help the tortilla stick to itself and keep it from coming un-rolled. Slice the wrapped banana into sections and then gobble it up!

So what do you think? Do you like my new spin on sushi?

Banana facial? What?! That is right, you can use your favorite yellow fruit to prevent aging and heal acne scars. Who knew! Here is how to make your very own banana facial:

Ingredients:

–        1/2 of a ripened organic bananaChiquita-DM2-minion-banana-1

–        1 teaspoon organic honey

Directions:

  • In a bowl, mash your banana and honey together.
  • Then use your fingers apply it to your face, but avoid your eyes!
  • Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes and then rinse your face.

This facial is B-A-N-A-N-A-S! The great thing about it is that you know all of the ingredients going into it so there are no hidden harsh chemicals, dyes, or anything else yucky that hurts you more than it helps you! The more you can use natural ingredients, the better. Your body will thank you! This option is also cheaper than going out and buying a face mask from the store, so it’s a win-win! Try this sweet facial out, and try to keep from licking it off your face! 😉
