Black lipstick is something that I never dared to try and pull off.  I always thought it was too risky and too dark for my personality!  But turns out, it’s a growing trend that I’ve seen anyone from celebrities to some of my closest friends start to try out.  If you’re easing into the black lipstick world, here are 3 steps to pull it off!

  1. First, you’ll need to focus on your eyes. Chelsea Crockett - Shay Mitchell If you try and wear black lipstick when your eye makeup is light, your lips will overpower your whole look.  Find an eyeshadow palette that doesn’t necessary have just black in it, but darker shades that will compliment dark lips, as well.  This is crucial!  Try a different blend of darker shades on your eyelids and lower lash line like Shay Mitchell did on the right.  She totally rocks this look!
  2. Next comes the contour.  Try out a darker contour that really defines your cheek bones and jawline.  Make sure you have a lighter highlight to add above the contour line as well.  This will create the illusion that your contour is darker than it is.  That being said, don’t forget to blend! 🙂
  3. Lastly, finish off some final touches such as eyebrows and obviously, lips!  The key to this look is making everything a little darker than usual.  Unfortunately, black lipstick doesn’t work too well with the natural look, so define and darken up those brows!

If you still don’t think you can pull it off, try out these three steps for yourself.  It’s a fun look to mix things up a bit every once in a while!

We all have a favorite eyeshadow shade. You know, that one that always seems to run out, while all the other colors in the palette are only slightly used. I got tired of having all sorts of eyeshadow palettes sitting around that were only slightly used, because all I was using was shades I knew and trusted! If you want to know how to wear the un-used, possibly obscure colors in your palettes, read on!

  1. Pink: Pink may seem like an awkward color for eyeshadow, and may give you “Barbie” vibes, but don’t let that stop you from using it! Gently dust some onto your eyelids, especially if it is a shimmery, light color! Bring the color across your lid down to the corner of the eye, and subdue it with other shadow shades like nude and champagne to tone it down.how-to-use-the-abandoned-colors-in-your-go-to-eye-shadow-palette-1656478-1455328442.640x0c
  2. Blue: This is a color that makes a stunning smoky eye, actually. Especially if it is slightly metallic! If a smoky eye isn’t your thing, use a small brush to run a thin line of shadow along your lower lash line for a pop of color.
  3. Purple: If you are unsure on how to wear that purple eyeshadow in your drawer, try the technique that I mentioned above in blue. Line your bottom lash line with the purple for a subtle color pop. You can even make a cat eye look with it!
  4. Black: Black can be an intimidating shade. Too much and you can start to look moody and dark! For a subtle look, use a fluffy powder shadow brush to dust a V shape along the outer corner of your eyes and halfway to the eye bone. This creates great definition.

Don’t let those abandoned eyeshadow colors go to waste! Get creative with them! You may find a new favorite shade in the process.

What’s more chic than an all-black outfit?! It’s the most fashionable and flattering color there is!  So how is it possible to rock black on black without looking boring?  Check out all these tips and tricks to sporting a posh all-black outfit.Chelsea Crockett- all black outfit

It’s important to change up fabrics. If you decide to wear a black sweater, try pairing with it leather skinnies.  This goes for a cotton tee as well.  If you decide to rock a black sheer or silk blouse, then black denim is the way to go.  Try wearing a shiny material either on bottom or on top and a duller material on the other.  It’s important to keep a good balance, so you can see the change in fabric!  The key to spicing up your outfit is adding lots of accessories.  Layer yourself in gold or silver jewelry, a sleek pair of boots, and maybe a hat.  This will help break up your outfit and add more to it!

Don’t be afraid to try an all-black outfit this winter!

Do you ever get sick of your hair color?  I know I do!  Of course I’ll never do anything dramatic like dye my hair blonde, but adding a hint of color is a great way to spice up your look.  Some colors are more daring than others, but in the end a slight change in color is all you need!

If you’re sick of your blonde hair, there are two really great options to change up your blonde hair color.  If you want to go lighter, try icy blonde highlights.  The highlights will add to your natural color without making your hair look too blonde, or worse…white!  If you’re looking to go darker without going brunette, adding honey highlights will do the trick!  You could even try going strawberry blonde for a more daring look.

Brunettes have a lot of options when it comes to changing up their hair color.  Adding dark or light brown highlights is an easy transition to a different shade of brown.  If you’re looking for a more daring color, try adding dark red or plum undertones to your hair.  The change won’t be too dramatic, but the colors will really stand out in the light! Chelsea Crockett- red hair When it comes to black hair, there isn’t much that can be changed; but if you want to try something really different try adding blue undertones to your hair.  This will make your black hair appear softer, but have an edge to it.

I do not recommend dying your hair on your own.  Go to a trusted salon for any of your hair color desires and talk to your parents first!

Hi Girls,

Don’t put up your warm weather clothes just yet!  Tights are a life saver in the winter.  They are so easy to slip on with your favorite dress, shorts or skirts.  They have even become a huge style staple.  With fun prints, bright colors, and of course, your typical black and nude, tights can be worn with almost anything!  Follow my style tips on how to wear and pair your tights in the winter!Chelsea Crockett- tights

Printed tights can be tricky to wear.  They have to be paired perfectly with just the right outfit.  Try wearing a pair of striped or polka dot tights with a solid colored dress or color block skirt and shirt duo.  Keep the colors subtle, so your outfit isn’t too over the top.  If you’re going to try a pair of colored tights, stick to one or two colors in your outfit.  Color blocking is a great way to incorporate colored tights.  For example, if you’re going to wear a pair of pink tights, try adding a complimentary color like orange in your look.

Nude, black, and white tights are essential to every girl’s closet.  These colors can be paired with any outfit…literally anything.  You can even wear your shorts in the winter thanks to tights!  For a grungier look, try rocking your favorite concert tee with high waisted shorts, black tights, and an over-sized cardigan.  If you want to go a classier route, pair any dress with black or nude tights.  You can’t go wrong!

A beautiful, bold, or subtle color is an obvious part of any wardrobe.  Whether you’re wearing a hot pink dress, black blazer, or jean shorts and a neutral tee, the colors you wear say a lot about your personality.  Next time you take a look at your outfit or closet, check out which color you own the most of!

  • Black: If you find yourself wearing a lot of black, you’re probably a strong, powerful woman.  Black is a fierce color, which is perfect for a job interview or a presentation day at school!
  • Brown:  This is a very down-to-earth color, which exerts a chill mood.  Try wearing brown for a casual day to the park or a day lying around the house.
  • Purple/Blue/Green:  Deep bold colors like royal blue, emerald green, and purple show intelligence and creativity.  Incorporating these colors in an outfit show a fun side to any personality through a pop of color.
  • Yellow/Pink:  Those who wear yellow and pink have a fun side to them!  Yellow and pink are bright, bubbly colors which are perfect for anyone who is upbeat.  Try wearing these colors more during this spring season.
  • Red:  This is one of the most ambitious colors out there.  Red shows power and energy.  Most people who wear red are goal-oriented, courageous, Chelsea Crockett- red dressand aren’t afraid to stand out!  You can’t be shy if you’re wearing red!

Colors are so powerful and tell a lot about a person!  If you’re bored of your wardrobe, try adding color and flaunt it!

            Hey insiders!

Most shopping websites allow you to simply purchase your desired products online, and that’s that.  But littleblackdress.com is a new kind of online shopping, more fun and more creative, letting you shop and swap!

Chelsea Crockett - Little Black Bag WebsiteFirst off, you have to make your own account.  The site includes several of the hottest brands including BCBC Generation, Steve Madden, Betsey Johnson, and Guess.   After joining, the website will have you take a personal style quiz!  This will help the site direct you to products that they think you’d be most interested in.  Then you’re set!  You pick one item to add to your “little black bag” and the site picks two other items to add, as well.

Second, you can pick over thousands of different people to swap items with.  If you find a bag or a pair of shoes you really like in someone else’s bag, you can offer one of your items to trade with theirs.

And finally, you can purchase your picked products with some up to 70% off of retail price!  Most items are at least 20-50% off, which to me is quite a steal.  If you’re in to online shopping, check out littleblackdress.com for a creative, new way to shop.  You won’t regret it!
