Eye makeup is one of my favorite things to experiment with.  You can do so many different color combinations and looks!  Looking back at my old videos and pictures, I’ve definitely gotten better at knowing how to do my eye makeup the best way to compliment the rest of my makeup.  Here are some eye makeup do’s and don’ts that I wish I would’ve known when I first started wearing makeup!

  • DO blend your eye shadow. Chelsea Crockett - Eye Makeup This will make it look much more natural and a lot less choppy.  If you get the right brush, blending is super easy!
  • DON’T add too much highlighter to your face.  This is important especially if your eye makeup is dark.  You want to make sure your makeup is all balanced out!
  • DO copy a look that you like.  If you see a celeb’s makeup that you love, it’s much easier to create a look on yourself when you have something to go off of.
  • DON’T go crazy on the eyeliner.  There are so many other ways to make your eyes pop.  You don’t have to rely heavily on your eyeliner to do so!  The occasional cat-eye is always good, but find other ways that accent and darken your eyes.
  • DO find the colors that compliment you.  If you’re blonde haired and blue eyed, it might not be the best idea to go with dark colors like black and grey.  Use soft browns and natural colors to make your eyes pop but not be too overboard!

I hope these help you master your eye makeup skills!

Contouring is a difficult process that I’m still learning to perfect myself. One side is always too dark, too light, too whatever, and it’s hard to master the process! Chelsea Crockett - Smashbox TrioSmashbox has come out with a much easier way to successfully contour… So, for those of you that want a quick and easy process, follow this three step guide.

To start out, you’ll need to purchase Smashbox’s Step-by-Step Contour Stick Trio pictured on the left. This product includes three different makeup sticks: the contour, the highlighter, and the bronzer. The main focus of this trio is to shape and define your jawline, nose, and of course, cheekbones. The contour stick adds the shaping feature to your face while the highlight stick brings brightness to the area. Chelsea Crockett - ContourThe bronzer works to blend the two together to create the perfect blended contour!

Once you’ve bought the set, you’re ready to begin! Depending on your skin tone and face structure, you’ll have to play around with where and how much you’ll apply to your skin. Add the contour stick to the areas shown on the picture to the right. Then apply the highlight stick to the areas above the cheekbones. Finish by blending the two together with the bronze stick!

Smashbox considers this trio one of their favorites because it “mimics perfect lighting.” So… what are you waiting for?!

Makeup can be a blast to apply, but it can also be a daunting task. You know that one friend who always has her makeup on fleek? The one we all wish we could be? Well, here is how you can make your makeup look like it was put on by a pro. Take that!

  1. Know the tools of the trade: Knowing what brushes are used when and for what purpose is a very useful skill. Also, knowing what products work best for your skin takes your makeup skills to the next level. Knowing what formulas and shades work for what part of your face is key. Good makeup and good brushes make a world of a difference!635890893849991243-169451396_tumblr_inline_nppl00BIsL1twqeu5_1280
  2. Contouring and highlighting are your friend: No matter how difficult they may seem. Knowing how to do it is essential for any makeup guru, even if you only do it on special occasions or when you feel like it. It can seem like it would be tough to learn, but practice = perfect!
  3. Blend up: When applying blush or bronzer, blend the powders up and out towards your hair line. It helps lift and lighten your face!
  4. Prep your lips: Use an old toothbrush to get the dead skin off of your lips and then use a good lip balm to moisturize them before using lipstick. This helps it stay on longer and also keeps your lips from flaking.
  5. Know your concealer: Use one that completely matches your skin tone, not one that is lighter or darker, to avoid the “raccoon” effect.
  6. Finish with powder…always: This is one of the most important steps in makeup application! Use a setting or finishing powder after you are done with your makeup to “set” the look. It helps your makeup to last longer and look softer.

Makeup should be fun and should make you feel fabulous! Practice using the right brushes and the right formulas for your skin and you will look like Kim K errryday. (Just kidding, don’t strive to be Kim K)

No time for contouring?  No problem! Contouring is applying dark and light colors in specific areas of your face and blending them together.  While the end product looks amazing, it can be very time consuming.  Tontouring is the next best thing!  It’s like contouring, but much quicker.  Check out how you can have a flawless complexion in 1…2…3!Chelsea Crockett- tontouring

Tontouring is applying self-tanner to specific areas of the face to add depth.  The best part?  Gradually, the self-tanner will stay and you won’t have to apply it every day!  So how do you do it?  Start off with a base by applying self-tanner all over your face.  Next, apply a darker shade of self-tanner under the cheek bones, down the sides of your nose, under your nose, and along your hairline on your forehead.  I suggest using a gradual self-tanner for the base and a regular self-tanner for the tontouring; but be careful, regular self-tanner tends to be streaky, so make sure you blend it in well!  Once the self-tanner has dried, continue doing your makeup as you normally would.

Happy tontouring!

Have you all heard of clown contouring? I hadn’t until recently. Youtuber Bella DeLune started the trend when she decided to stand up to people who called her a clown because she wore too much makeup. She posted a before and after picture of her with her colorfully contoured face clowned-up, and then with the makeup expertly blended, just to show the haters how artful makeup really is.

Bella has started a major trend! Girls everywhere are trying clown contouring…and loving it! It is an exaggerated form of color-correction that isn’t for everyday-wear, because quite frankly it takes quite a bit of time! But, the results are stunning. It made ME want to try my hand at contouring! Take a look at these before and after pics of Bella. She looks gorgeous! I love how she can take the hate and turn it into an educational video to show others her process and her artfulness. As girls we can get hit with a lot or criticism for wearing too much/too little makeup, but I believe that makeup is a form of self-expression! Your face is your own, and you can choose what to do with it!

What do you think? Will you try your hand at clown contouring?

Bronzers are great for giving you that sun kissed look and beautiful glow.  How to get this is very easy and affordable!

Chelsea Crockett - BronzerAt only $9, NYX cosmetics carry a Matte Bronzer powder.  Known for how well it blends, this bronzer gives you a super natural look that still gives you the glow every girl wants.  It also comes in five different shades so you will be sure to find one that will match perfectly with your skin tone.  One way to make sure you don’t overcoat your bronzer is to focus on three spots: your forehead, cheekbones, and jaw line.  This way you can get full coverage without making your face look too tan for your body.  If you have extra sensitive skin, try using Clinique’s True Bronze Pressed Powder Bronzer.  This will guard your skin against unwanted breakouts or rashes and still give you the glow you want.  After applying, make sure you show off your sun kissed look!  That’s all there is to it!
