Festival season is amongst us! Coachella in April and many more to follow throughout the summer that are on my not to miss list. Festival style mainly revolves around the Boho-styled look. Lots of jewelry, fun patterns, and unique materials are fun to experiment with for your festival! Here are some pointers when picking out your outfit!

At festivals like Coachella, picking out your outfit is only the first step. Accessorizing should be your main focus in putting together your look. Fringe purses, circulaChelsea Crockett - Festival Jewelryr sunglasses, and chunky rings are all in this year. The picture on the left shows someone who took accessorizing to another level. Metallic tattoos are so cute and can be bought in gold or silver to match your jewelry. Check them out!

As far as the actual outfit goes, Boho patterns are where it’s at. Loose patterned shorts and rompers are not only comfy but stylish! I’ve recently been seeing two reoccurring trends in upcoming festival style: hats and midi cardigans. Hats are fashionable and are perfect for being in the sun all day! As for midi cardigans, ones that are patterned and light-weighed are cute and good for the heat.

If you’re going to a festival this year, which one? Also, what look are you going for? I may need some ideas :)!

If you’ve seen pictures of over-accessorized wrists and hands with indie styled jewelry, then we’re already on the same page! The picture above shows someone rocking the boho styled accessory look. There are four main steps to complete this trend yourself. Keep reading to find out how you can achieve it, too :)!

  1. Boho styled outfits usually incorporate subtle or neutral tones. Paint your nails a color that go along with this color scheme and match the jewelry you’re going to pair with it. I love how the girl on the right went with white nails to compliment her silver jewelry. Try it out!Chelsea Crockett - Boho Accessories
  2. Next come the rings. Whatever color you choose for your jewelry, it all needs to match. If you go all gold, keep the gold color scheme. Same with silver, rose gold, etc. Layer different styled rings with a variety of jewels and shapes.
  3. After you have your rings, find some bangle bracelets to go with them. Alex and Ani is known for their bangles and are perfect for layering.
  4. The last step is optional and only adds to the boho, indie theme! Metallic tattoos such as the ones above are fun to try out! They remind me of Henna tattoos but are easier to get off and much less expensive. You can find them at a variety of different stores such as Topshop, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, etc.

Let me know if you like the look as well!

Coachella Trends to Incorporate In Your Spring Wardrobe!

It’s the week after Coachella and everyone who went (or just saw the Snapchat story!) is having Coachella withdrawals. Thousands of festival-goers including celebrities, famous bands, DJs, fans, and tons more attended the massive, weekend-long event. It’s also known for the crazy stylish fashion trends that spread on social media! Here are a few of my faves :).

So if you haven’t noticed, the Coachella style is super indie and boho. Chelsea Crockett - Layered RingsOne of the big trends I noticed was all kinds of layered jewelry. I think the cutest was the layered rings like the picture on the right. This picture was uploaded on supermodel Gigi Hadid’s Instagram and it’s safe to say I’m obsessed! There’s also tons of pics of layered necklaces and bracelets… So cute!

Another jewelry related trend is metallic bracelet tattoos. You might be thinking “whaaaat?” but I promise they’re so fun to wear! You can find them online (click here!) or at Forever 21 and other chain stores. They stay on for a few days, even through showers (and you don’t have to worry about remembering to put on jewelry every day!).

Wearing a kimono cardigan is one of my favorite ways to spice up an outfit. Now they have ones that go down to your ankles! They’re SO fashionable and give off an indie vibe. My favorite way to rock one is wearing it with a romper and tons of layered jewelry.

Lastly, hats, hats, and more hats! Floppy hats and fedoras can make an outfit, especially a boho look. Celebrities tried out this look left and right and they all looked fab!

What would be your go-to Coachella ensemble? Hopefully I’ll see you all there one day :).

During the summer, for me, every day is different. One day I could be going to a friend’s house to bum around by the pool, the next I could be all dressed up hitting the city with some gal pals. Whatever the case may be, I always need to be dressed for the occasion. Here are three outfits that summarize my summer, from casual, to semi casual, to dressy.

  1. Casual: If I am heading to town with friends or hanging out at someone’s house, my usual go-to outfit is a simple white tank and some faded, ripped jeans or cutoff shorts. This outfit is just casual enough to be comfy and cute at the same time.summer
  2. Semi-casual: If I am headed into the city for the day or to a friend’s party, I love to wear a floral romper. They aren’t too dressy but aren’t too casual. They are the perfect happy medium! Plus, they are so totally adorable. I wish I could fill my closet with them!summer 1
  3. Dressy: If I am going to dinner in the city or going to a nicer summer event, I will opt for a flowy dress and sweet accessories. This white dress is classic and feminine, plus the hat gives it a boho, hipster flare.summer 2What is YOUR summer go-to outfit? Comment below!

Have you ever been too lazy to do your hair, but still want it to look pretty?  Well, you’re in luck!  This summer it’s all about the laid back boho look and I’ve got the perfect hairstyle for you!  The twisted hairband hairstyle is perfect for an event or a lazy Sunday; and all you need is a skinny headband.  Check out my step by step to complete the look on your own.

  1. You can start by curling, straightening, or leaving your hair as is.  This is a messier hairstyle, so it’s okay to go all natural!
  2. Next, tease the top of your hair.  Once teased, slide an elastic skinny headband over your hair so that it sits on top of your hair.  Do not put this around your neck and then pull up onto your hair.
  3. Grab a small strand of hair from the front and wrap it around the headband.  Do this until there is no more hair to wrap.  Do the same for the otherChelsea Crockett- twisted hairband side.
  4. Next, grab another strand of hair, preferably from the middle of each side of your hair, to wrap around again.  Do this for the other side as well.
  5. Last, secure any fly-aways with bobby pins and you’re good to go!

I hope you enjoy this hairstyle as much as I did!

My friends at 17 Magazine want you to be as stylish as you can be this school year. Lucky for you, I am going to fill you in on a few of their style tips for fall 2014. Here are some of the trends that you should be aware of. I threw in a few of my own favorites!20dfaa8e6dad4d84a3a613b48b1704a2

Cool prints: quirky graphic prints such as floral prints or tribal prints are totally in! Incorporate them into your pants or accessories!

High waisted jeans: That’s right, not only are high waisted shorts in style, but high waisted jeans are coming back!

Boho: I am so pumped that I can take my love for the boho trend and carry it over to fall. Ankle boots, lacey tops, army jackets, long fringey sweaters, braided headbands, and distressed skinny jeans create this trend.

Pastels: Pastels are not just for spring and summer anymore! Incorporate them into your sweaters and jackets, and pair them with darker jeans for a great contrast!

You are going to be the most stylish ladies at your school, I guarantee it!

Hello Ladies,

Hello 2014!  It’s time for certain fashion staples to make way for the newest fashion and beauty trends on the block.  From fashion pieces from the past making a comeback to bold makeup looks, 2014 will be an exciting year in the fashion world!  So start making space in your closet for the newest fashion trends…check it out!

Chelsea Crockett- boho fringeBoho, otherwise known as Bohemian, is becoming a huge style!  It has sort of a hippie vibe, full of lace dresses, flowers, and strappy sandals.  Two of the biggest trends this year are part of the Boho look.  Circle sunglasses and fringe will be a style staple this summer.  Try pairing a tank with fringe at the bottom with high-waisted shorts or a fringed sheer cardigan with a tank and skinny jeans.  Add circle sunglasses to any look for instant Bohemian style!

Two more trends to look out for this year are midi dresses and bold brows.  Celebs like Lily Collins and Cara Delevingne have inspired bold brows with their signature look.  Try fillingChelsea Crockett- bold brows in your brows with a dark or light brown eye shadow to make them darker.  This will make your eye brows appear larger and bolder.  Do not fill them in with a pencil or try to make them larger.  Use a powdered eye shadow for a natural look.  If you’re looking to change-up your dress scene, try a midi!  It’s a mix between a mini and maxi dress and usually reaches the middle of your shins.  You can find these in a tight formal look or sun dress type.  Either way, a midi dress can be worn for almost any occasion!  Get ahead of your friends and jump on board with the hottest trends this year!

Happy New Year!

Indie: How to Master the Style

You may have heard of, or even tried, the boho chic style I’ve mentioned in a couple other articles.  If you’re in love with the boho style, just like I am :), you should try out another similar style called indie, or indie rock!  Here are a few tips on how to achieve your look.

Chelsea Crockett - Layering BraceletsThe first step to a perfect outfit is always accessorizing, which is exactly what Indie fashion is about.  Fun, colorful bracelets, like the ones on the left, show the perfect example of how to display your jewelry.  If you’re feeling extra trendy, add in a flowery or lace headband!

As far as shirts go, if you have an oversized graphic or concert tee wear it!  Also, try to stick with subtle colors such as tan, black, yellow, navy, maroon, etc.  Or… you can rock lace, flowers, or anything that gives off a hipster kind of feel.  Tribal patterns, floral prints, and denim are perfect to tie your outfit together.  Avoid neon colors or anything too bright.  It’s all about being subtle and edgy.  This style is perfect for the warm months ahead.  Chic dresses, denim shorts, and retro skirts will be sure to catch peoples’ attention this spring :)!

Between bohemian fashion, the laid-back beach lifestyle, and festivals like Coachella, braids are the coolest hairstyle on the streets right now!  It’s all about minimum effort and braids allow you to do just that!  It’s so simple to throw your hair in a braid and walk out of the house.  Although the standard braid can be boring, there are so many ways to spice it up!  Check out some of my favorite ways to incorporate a braid into your hairstyle.

If you love the standard braid but want to change it up a bit, try curing your hair and leaving some of your short layers out of the braid.  You could also tease all of your hair and then start to braid it.  Change it up by trying a fish tail braid!  Both of these looks will give you that laid-back, effortless boho look.

If you have long hair, leave your hair as it naturally is and start a braid under the top layer of your hair right above one of your ears.  Once you are done braiding, drape it across your head so itChelsea Crockett- braided hair headband looks like a headband.  Secure the opposite side with bobby pins and you’ve got a quick and simple hairstyle!

The biggest “don’t” when going for the boho look is hairspray!  If your hair falls, then let it fall!  That’s part of the boho hairstyling.  It’s all about being natural, not sleek and stiff.

Love,

Chelsea

I personally love the “boho” style. It is so urban and chic! Today I am going to teach you how to create your own boho turban headband, which can be worn with any casual outfit to add a little edge to your updo! Here are the steps to achieve this look:130995f96628c612c8f4490d0cb1ff5b

 1. Pick out a floral or printed scarf. The scarf should be about 60 inches long or longer, because it has to fit all the way around your head while folded in half! Fold the scarf in half equally so that the ends touch.

2. Take one end of your folded scarf in each hand. Place the middle section of the scarf at the back of your head and bring the ends towards your forehead. Take one of the loose ends of your scarf and place it through the loop of the scarf that is in your other hand.

4. After you have pulled one of the loose ends through the loop, tie the loose ends together at the top of your head. Tie it tight enough where it won’t move, but loose enough to where it is not hurting you.

5. Tuck the loose ends that you just tied together so that they do not show.

Super easy, right? Now you can go out and look like a boho babe. This accessory can be worn with a simple updo, such as a messy but, or you can even pair it with a braid! Experiment and see what you like best!

XOXO,

Chels

This spring, I’m going boho! I am seeing a strong bohemian style represented in the fashion trends for this spring. I love the bohemian trend because it is so whimsical and free spirited! Here are a few ways that you can rock this unique style:

 1. Natural hair and headbands. In the boho trend, natural wavy hair and printed headbands are key. Flower headbands are also big. Let your hair air dry or scrunch it so that it has some wave to it, and then add in a headband and wear it like a halo! You can see this style in the pictures above.Chelsea Crockett Boho Trend

2. Flowey, light colored clothing. In the picture above you can see the girl wearing a loose, flowey white dress. When I think spring, I think light colors! This loose white dress makes me want to frollick through a meadow of wild flowers, am I right? That is what the boho style represents, free spirited attitudes.

3. Bangle bracelets and rings. As you can see in the picture above, bracelets are a big part of this trend. The more bangles the better! Also, brass and silver rings are a must in this trend! Wide brimmed hats are totally in, also. The brown hat in the picture above is a great example!

I will definitely be sporting this trend this spring and summer! Will you?

In this day and age, styles and trends come and go and only stay for a season or two.  This season, a trend that’s in, hot, and popular is boho chic.  If you don’t know what it is, boho chic is a bohemian, Indy type style that’s hot in Hollywood right now.  Celebrities such as the Kardashians, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been seen wearing this new Chelsea Crockett - Boho Chic Dresstrend.

The boho chic look can be described as usually loose fitting with tie dyed colors, floral patterns, or solids with crocheted lace.  It is most often worn as a dress but some skirts combined with cute shirts can bring on the look, too!

If you’re into this look, you can find related clothing at Urban Outfitters or Free People.  Although these stores are a little more expensive, you can ask for their clothing for your birthday or for other events/holidays for gifts.  You can also find this type of clothing at Forever 21 (of courseWink) for a cheaper price.  I love this style because it’s unique and a fun, new way to dress.  It’s also super comfy!  You guys should totally check it out.  Enjoy!
