Never Try, Never Know

Regret is an awful thing. It sits on our minds day after day wondering about all the “what ifs” and outcomes that we could’ve had. More often than not, there are things we wish we could’ve done and things we know we should’ve done. It can be a painful cycle, and God addresses it in the Bible.

Have you never said “no” to an opportunity and immediately regretted it later that day? Your mind knows when you’ve missed out on a chance or did something you maybe shouldn’t have done.

I always think about what would’ve happened if I never would have started my YouTube channel or if I never would’ve moved to Atlanta. These thoughts make me say “yes” to more opportunities and push me to try new things I wouldn’t have in the first place. Everything we’ve done in the past is a puzzle piece to who we are today.

God wants us to get out of our comfort zones. No one ever said following Him is easy, and He planted a bold and courageous heart in all of us for a reason. Look at Deuteronomy 31:6 for example: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Think of who your “them” might be. Are they your friends? Your family? Are they the people you’re trying constantly to impress?

Although this verse was written for a completely different situation, we can still apply it to whatever situations we ourselves are going through. We need a bold and courageous heart along with the confidence of knowing God will never leave us in order to leave comfort behind and try something out of the ordinary.

John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you; peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

We could either listen to Jesus who gives us peace, or we could listen to the world, in fear of rejection and judgement. Some things you have to do for yourself, despite the thoughts and opinions of others. I mean hey, if you never try, you truly will never know!

Never let your hearts be troubled over something that you’re passionate about. Deep regret and the unknown of the “what ifs” is much worse than trying and failing. God wants our hearts to guide us, and if you’re feeling called to do something, then take the leap and do it!

God only gives us 365 days a year. What do you say we make them count?

I never noticed I struggled with comparison. Growing up, I didn’t give it much thought as to who was “prettier,” “smarter,” “more popular,” etc. Everyone was friends with everyone and that was that.

Growing up and experiencing the pressures of junior high and high school, comparison started to creep in. Being a teenage girl, we all experience the pressures of society whether that be from friends, TV shows, movies, or anything else that makes you feel like you’re not living up to societal standards.

The society we live in gives unrealistic expectations that make us feel less than, devalued, and insecure at times, and I know we’ve all felt the pressure of these expectations before.

Whenever I’m faced with something, whether it be comparison, pressure, etc., my first thought is to look and see what the Bible has to say about it. And when the topic of comparison comes up, God has some wise words we should all take note of!

Galatians 6:4-5 says, “Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, for each one should carry their own load.”

Whenever I struggle with comparison, I think back to this verse in Galatians. Let’s break this verse down piece by piece.

“Each one should test their own actions.” Take a look at yourself. How are your actions? Are they aligned with how you want them to be? You and God should be the only two allowed to judge what you do, not under the scrutiny of others!

“Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” God wants us to have the pride and confidence that he sees in us. We are God’s masterpieces and he wants us to see the beauty in us!

“For each one should carry their own load.” God doesn’t expect us to carry the loads of those around us. He doesn’t want us feeling the weight of others’ expectations or standards. We answer to someone much higher than anyone on this earth, not the friends or people around us!

Another verse in Galatians says this: “Am I saying this now to win the approval of people or God? Am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ’s servant.” – Galatians 1:10

God didn’t create us to please others. If he did, we would spend our entire lives worrying about what other people think and do.

Once we remember that our purpose is to please God and only God, comparison seems like only a distant worry.

How can you start building your confidence today? Know your worth and recognize who the Lord of your life is!

Be confident, be bold, and be proud of the masterpiece God created you to be.

As teenagers, we still have so much life left to live.  I’ve always wondered how people at the end of their lives feel looking back on their own lives.  Are they filled with happiness?  Or regret and unfulfillment?  I found a post online that listed a few life lessons from an 80-year-old.  I found them inspiring and wanted to share some of them!

  • Look people in the eye.” Chelsea Crockett - Bible verseEye contact is important and the ability to have that is a good quality to have!  It tells people that you’re really interested in the conversation.  This is something our generation needs to learn how to do!
  • “Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.”  I’ve always loved the quote, “be the person you want to meet.”  We should all strive to be the best person we can be!
  • “Make it a habit to do nice things for people who will never find out.” Doing something nice for someone is easy, but doing it without getting any recognition is what we can often struggle with.  Try it sometime!
  • “Loosen up. Relax. Nothing is as important as it first seems.”  I live by this advice!  It is so important to let go of things and know that you’re probably stressing over nothing anyway.
  • “Be bold and courageous.”  There’s a verse in the Bible that says the same thing.  Take risks and get out of your comfort zone!  Life’s too short to let opportunities pass you by.

What lessons have you learned so far throughout your life?  Share with me below!

In the winter, you hardly see anyone wearing hot pink or coral lipstick.  With cold weather comes darker colors.  Paring dark lipstick with the correct blush and eye shadow can be tricky and has to be done correctly.  If you’ve never tried a bold lip, here’s your makeup guide to creating the perfect look.Chelsea Crockett- bold lip

Less is more!  If you’re putting a dark color on one part of your face, then it’s important to keep it simple everywhere else.  Try a light blush, nude or shimmery eye, skinny black eyeliner on the top lid, and mascara.  Stay away from dark blush and heavy eyeliner!  When prepping for your dark lip, always use a lip scrub before.  If your lips are chapped or flakey, the dark colors will really show it.  If you like to line your lips, choose a lipstick that is one shade lighter than the lip liner itself.  This way, your lips won’t look too overdone.

Last, pick out the perfect outfit and you’re ready for a night out!

Christmas Makeup Looks: Natural & Bold!

Christmas is finally here insiders! It’s time to break out the wrapping paper and sugar cookies. Besides the obvious holiday preparations, you’re going to need a stunning outfit and makeup look to complete it! So… I decided to share two looks with you: natural and bold.

  1. If you want to keep it nice and simple for the holidays, this natural look is for you! Some girls don’t wear makeup all the time, so if you want to try something new for the holidays, I suggest this look! If you have an amazing outfit, you might not want to overdo it with your makeup. Try using your normal foundation with a light pink blush. Then, apply a shimmer nude or light pink eye shadow (I suggest the shimmer nude more than the pink!). If you’re a girl that can’t get enough eye liner, try to avoid the cat eye for this look. A simple thin line will look more natural! Seal your look with a maximizing mascara and a nude, matteChelsea Crockett - Christmas Makeup lipstick.
  2. As for the makeup lovers out there (like me!), you might rather go for the bolder look. Instead of a light pink blush, use a cherry colored one! For your eyes, you can never go wrong with the smoky eye, which is definitely a statement look. The normal smoky eye colors (gray, black, white) might get boring after a while. Try incorporating holiday colors such as silver or gold! Finish off your look with a red lipstick :).

There ya go! You can pick and choose which one suits you best!

Merry Christmas! – Chelsea

Don’t be afraid to wear color and prints!  Black, brown, and grey can get boring so styling yourself with brighter clothes!  Try adding fun accessories like a striped purse or pink earrings.  A little color never hurt!  Another great way to add to your signature style is through your shoe choice.  Throw on a fun pair of sneakers or stylish wedges to a simple outfit if you don’t have time to get ready.  Never be afraid to be bold.  Always experiment with your style and go out of the box.  It’s important not to care too much about what others think of you!

Invest your money in your most valuable pieces!  Purses and shoes are always a great investment…you can never grow out of them.  Save up for that purse you’ve been dying to have.  Most designer purses are timeless, so it’s okay to splurge!  Plus, everyone will be dying to get their hands on it!  Another way to be a style standout is to layer!  Instead of just wearing a sweater, throw on a scarf or wear a button up under it.  An over-sized coat is always a great addition as well!  Be bold, be exciting, and be out there with your style!
