Thick, luscious locks are something every girl desires.  When it comes to hair, you can pretty much determine its color, style, etc., but one thing you can’t change is how thick or thin it is!  Although you can’t actually “change” it, there are certain things you can do to make it appear thick and beautiful!

  • Switch your part to the opposite side.  Chelsea Crockett - Pancake BraidShifting your part can give the hair around your roots a little lift.  Since its not used to it, your hair will look thicker at the top!
  • Condition your hair before you shampoo it.  This is said to give your hair a more textured look.  Try it out!
  • “Pancake” your braid.  Pancaking your braid is a new technique that makes your braid look fuller like the picture on the right.  You basically tug and pull on your hair to loosen your braid after you’ve finished.
  • Use mousse.  Mousse isn’t only a guy’s products ladies!  It works beautifully when trying to give your hair a little extra lift and texture.
  • Use dry shampoo even when your hair is clean.  As I’ve said before, texture can completely change the appearance of your hair.  Dry shampoo will give your roots an extra lift!

What tips would you add to the list?  Let me know and I’ll try them myself!

Hairstyles for Hiding Your Bangs

Sometimes you try something new with your hair and end up loving it.  Other times, taking a risk with your hair can be something you regret!  Depending on the person, they can love or hate their bangs.  Or maybe they simply get tired of them!  I know they can take a while to grow out, so here are a few hairstyles for hiding your bangs!

When it comes to bangs, braids can be your best friend.  There are so many different styles of braids that will help hide your bangs and are also super stylish! Chelsea Crockett - Braid Top Knot If you want to keep it simple, French braiding your bangs and bobby pinning them on the side of your head is an easy solution.  One of my favorite looks is the braided topknot like the picture on the left.  As long as you can master the look, it turns out super cute!

If you haven’t invested in any accessories, then you should start!  Hats and headbands are perfect for hiding bangs (and for fixing a bad hair day!).  Purchase a few that you can switch up with different outfits and you’re good to go!

Another quick way to style your bangs is by drying your hair a certain way.  Training your part to go the opposite way can be hard, but by doing this you can master the flipped hairstyle.  This will allow your bangs to blend with your hair better along with using some product to seal the deal.

If you’re regretting getting bangs, then I hope this helps!

When the summer humidity takes over, it can be next to impossible to tame your frizzy locks!  It’s such a bummer to spend the time curling or straightening your hair only for it to get ruined!  I’ve got a few great hairstyles that won’t look bad when hit with a little humidity.  It’s time to get familiar with your new favorite summer dos!Chelsea Crockett- humid hair

  • The top knot is the ultimate humidity fighting hair style! It’s meant to look messy, so as pieces start to come out or frizz, it’ll look like it was supposed to be that way!  Try it half-up or all the way up for a cool summer look!
  • A pony tail is always a safe bet when trying to beat humidity, but can often be boring. Spice up the traditional look by loosely braiding one side of your hair and combining it with the other side for a half-braided pony! You can also do this with a low bun!
  • If you want to wear your hair completely down, opt for curls! First apply Moroccan oil to keep your hair smooth before drying and curling it.  Last, apply a humidity fighting hairspray.  Your hair will most likely fall throughout the day, so curl your hair tight for it to last longer.  By the end of the day you should have loose beach waves.
  • A loose side braid is always great for outdoor weather! Try a fishtail or traditional braid to one side and then pull certain pieces to spread out the braid.

Don’t let the summer humidity keep you for embracing your beautiful hair!

How to Style Wet Hair

Sometimes life can be hectic and being a girl doesn’t help out.  Between blow drying and styling your hair, putting on your makeup, and picking out the perfect outfit, a time crunch is the last thing you need!  So what do you do when you have just enough time to shower, but no time to do your hair?  No worries!  I’ve got the perfect solution to styling wet hair!

If you have a long drive to your final destination, curl your hair through air drying.  Once in the car, divide your hair into 4-6 sections.  Twist each section and slowly lay them down.  Once each section is twisted, try not to move your head too much so the hair stays in place.  Once you reach your destination, shake out your hair to reveal soft, pretty curls!Chelsea Crockett- wet bun

If you want a more professional look, try wearing your hair up.  Since wet hair stays in place easier, try a twisted bun.  Brush all of your hair up into a high pony tail and twist your hair tight until it coils into a bun.  Secure it with bobby pins and you’re good to go!  The easiest of all wet hair styles is a simple side braid.  As your hair dries, you can take it out of the braid to reveal wavy hair or leave it in!

Next time you’re in a hurry, don’t panic! Styling your hair in a flash has never been easier!

Gym Hairstyles, So You Don’t Have to Wash It After

You really want to hit the gym, but remembered you have somewhere to be shortly after.  You’d only have 30 minutes to get ready; therefore you wouldn’t have enough time to wash your hair.  What do you do?!  Luckily, it is possible to have a cute hair style after hitting the gym and here’s how:

When you start to sweat, you scalp gets warm which creates a mold.  Because of this, there’s a large chance that your hair will stay the way you had it when you worked out.  It’s important to plan ahead!  If you want your hair wavy, then wear it in a French braid.  You could even start the braid at your bangs for an allover wavy look.    If you want your hair curly, then twist your hair into a top knot bun and secure it with bobby pins.  This way, you will avoid creases throughout your hair. Chelsea Crockett- french braid at the gym

Keeping your hair straight is a bigger challenge.  Wear your hair in a low pony tail using a fabric hair tie to avoid dents.  If you have bangs and want them to lay flat after your workout, pin them to the side using a bobby pin.  You can even part your bangs down the middle and secure them to each side.

Next time you think about skipping the gym because of an event, remember these simple hair tricks.  You have no excuses now!

Do you ever get tired of wearing your hair down or having it hanging in your face? I know I do, and with the warm weather closing in you are going to want your locks off of your neck. Here is a way to dress up your regular every day braid.

Tease the crown of your hair and spray it with dry shampoo to give it some volume. Part your hair into three dad739579455313fbd5a0166eefa9b08sections and braid the middle section. Secure the braid with a clear elastic. Then, take all of the sections and braid them together. Secure the end of your final braid with a clear elastic. Pull the braid apart a little bit so that it widens and loosens, giving it a wistful, effortless look. Spritz your look with some hair spray and then you are done!

I love braids because they are so effortless and classic. Try it out and comment below!

Hi Girls,

Bobby pins are one of the biggest hair style savers.  They can create the most beautiful up-dos, pin back unwanted hair, and aid to any hair style you want.  They are also great if you are trying to grow out your bangs.  One of the best features of bobby pins is how they seem almost “invisible” in your hair.  Try some of these easy hairstyles with the help of bobby pins!Chelsea Crockett- bobby pin up dos

If you are trying to grow out your bangs or just want them out of your face for the day, then bobby pins are the way to go.  Try simply twisting or braiding your bangs and pinning them back.  This looks great with straight, curled, or wavy hair.  To make a pony tail more elegant, leave a strand of your hair from the bottom out of your pony tail.  Wrap the loose hair around the pony tail and secure it with bobby pins; this way you can’t see the hair tie!  Try this with a loose or tight pony tail to go with any look.  If you’re looking for an elegant hair style, try pinning up all of your hair.  Start by curling all of your hair tightly.  Take small strands and wrap them into small coils and bobby pin each piece in the back.  Once all of your hair is up pull a few loose strands from the front of your face to make the look softer.  Since you aren’t using any hair ties, be sure to hair spray your hair.

Bobby pins are a wonder for any and all hairstyles!  Comment below if you know of a great way to use bobby pins or if you try one of the styles above.

I love you all!

I think we’re all in agreement that a bad hair day counts as an emergency… A girl’s worst nightmare!  Especially when the event you have is formal or dressy, with no time to fix up your hair.  I decided to put together three easy, on-the-go hair styles that can substitute for any fancy up-do!

Style number one… a high bun, or sock bun!  Chelsea Crockett - High BunAlthough the traditional sock bun is still cute and fashionable, I like to put a little spin on it and create a high bun.  It’s almost the same thing as a sock bun, but with a slight different look to it.  I have a tutorial on my channel titled “Easy High Bun.”  Check that out and you’re set!  It’s super simple and non-time consuming.

Style number two… a slicked back ponytail, AKA the Kardashian ponytail :)!  This one works best with longer hair.  To start out, you’ll need a ponytail, bobby pins, and some hairspray.  Leave out a small section of hair at the back of your head.  Pull your hair back into a high ponytail, making sure the elastic is tight around your hair.  After, wrap the sectioned piece of hair around the tie and secure it with a couple bobby pins.  If you have fly-a-ways, spray them down with hairspray so your ponytail looks clean and slick.

Last, but not least, style number 3… braided half-up.  Part your hair where you normally do and take one, two-inch front sections from each side of your part.  Braid both pieces and secure them together in the back with bobby pins or a small hair tie.

Hope this helps next time you’re a little off schedule!

Hey insiders!  Every girl wants to know how to get their hair soft, shiny, and most importantly, healthy.  With endless treatments of various shampoos and gels, it gets frustrating trying to find successful ways to treat your hair.  What girls don’t look for are the things you can do at home without expensive products.  Here are a few secrets to getting those healthy locks.Chelsea Crockett - Hair

First, condition your ends each time your hair is damp or wet even if you don’t shampoo it each time you’re in the shower.  This helps with tangles and also keeps your hair moisturized.  I hate when my hair feels dried out, so this tip definitely solves the problem.

Second, let your hair flow every once and a while.  Pulling back your hair on a daily basis creates damage and causes your strands to break.  If you’re the kind of person who relies on up-dos, try pinning your hair up with clips or pins.  Avoiding elastic bands will decrease the breakage in your hair.

Lastly, monitor the amount of heat applied on your hair.  Too much of anything can be bad so avoid straightening or curling your hair every day.  Try putting it into a simple braid or, if you can, leave it natural.

Along with these, there are many more secrets to discover in order to receive healthy, beautiful hair.  I hoped this helped and good luck!

Now we all know that scarves are a great accessory to go around your neck.  Whether it’s to keep you warm or dress up a look, a scarf is an item that every girl must own!  One of the greatest things about scarves is that they have more than one purpose.  I’m going to break down some creative ways to wear your scarf…..the possibilities are endless!

Chelsea Crockett- braid scarfWho would’ve thought that a scarf would be a great hair accessory?  Start by putting the scarf around your head and tie it behind your hair.  Pull all of your hair, including the left over strands of the scarf, to one side.  Start braiding your hair into a long braid, incorporating the ends of the scarf into your braid.  This will add a pretty pop of color in your long, beautiful braid!  It’s such a fun way to brighten any look.

Another unique way to wear a scarf is to turn it into a bracelet.  If you have three small square scarves, lay them all side by side and tie all three together at the end.  Start braiding the three scarves together until the braid is complete.  You could even braid in a strand of “bling”!  Tie it around your wrist and there you go!  It’s that simple!   Hope you’ll try out these two different ways to wear a scarf.  Show off your creation to your friends!Chelsea Crockett- Scarf Bracelets

Hey girls!  We all know how much I love trying out new hairstyles and what’s a better time than summer?  Whether you wear it up or down, there’s always a cute and stylish way to show off those beautiful locks!

One of the first looks I go to is the messy or high bun.  They’re easy to throw up and work with any outfit.  One of the best things about a bun is that it’s okay for them to look messyWink.  Just throw it up and wear it how you want!

Another one of my on-the-go styles is a side braid.  Along with being super easy, you can make it your own by doing the many different styles there are.  Fishtailing and French braiding are just a couple ideas on how to make your braid fun and unique!

Chelsea Crockett - Beach WavesLast but definitely not least, are beach waves.  I absolutely love this look because it gives off the summer feel and adds the beachy look to your sun kissed tan.  At almost any beauty salon you can find a spray to help give you that ocean air vibe.

These are just a few summer styles for you to try out this season! Hope this helps!

Hello Girls!

Wavy hair is my go-to hair.  It’s so effortless and great when you don’t feel like doing your hair.  Unfortunately, some of us are born with pin-straight hair or you have such thick hair it takes hours to curl.  I’ll show you a few easy ways to get beautiful waves without using a curling iron. Chelsea Crockett- braided waves

If you have thick, long hair, sleep in a long French braid at night.  When you wake up in the morning, take the braids out, and run your fingers through your hair.  You’ll have pretty waves in a flash!  If you have thin or short hair, I wouldn’t recommend this.  Your hair will look kinked and your ends won’t lay flat.

For those of you with thin or short hair, twist or braid small sections of your hair and run a straightener over it a few times.  This will create very soft waves.  Make sure to apply a small amount of hair spray so your waves don’t go flat.  If you have curling moose, layer it throughout your hair to keep the curls in place.  My favorite is Marc Anthony Strictly Curls foam or Curl Envy.  Love your hair and love your curls!
