Writer’s block is a real struggle.  Sometimes we just can’t find the motivation to get anything done.  I’ve been there, done that, trust me!  It can even happen when I’m editing videos, writing articles, or coming up with Instagram captions!  When you’re struggling with writer’s block, here are a few ideas for regaining your motivation.

  • Allow yourself to take a half-hour or an hour break, more often than you think you need. Chelsea Crockett - Writer's Block This way is proved to be one of the most effective!
  • Take a nap.  Power-naps are a real thing.  Taking anywhere between a 30-60-minute nap can give your brain the energy it needs to think.  Sometimes sleeping really is the answer!
  • If you’re hungry, eat your favorite snack.  I know for me, I love food!  Frustration can often take its toll so eating a light snack can give you a break and a boost.
  • Bring your spirits up.  When I get writer’s block, I often find myself getting frustrated and negative.  Do something that makes you happy!  Whether that be playing with your dog or calling your friend for a few minutes.  Positivity helps!
  • Free write.  Free writing is actually effective!  Sit down, grab a pencil, and write whatever comes to mind.  It may help or it may not, but it’s worth a shot!

I hope these help you next time you’re writing a paper or outlining your speech!

Spring break is often the time for college kids to go on a trip with their friends or get some time away from school to relax and spend time with family.  If you’re staying home or at school for spring break, you don’t have to miss out on all the fun!  Here are five ideas for a spring break “staycation!”

  • Take a day to binge watch that Netflix series you’ve been wanting to watch.  Chelsea Crockett - Gossip GirlClear your schedule for the day, make some snacks, lay in bed, and simply relax!
  • Take a day trip to a good hiking spot or a big city.  This is an inexpensive way to get a mini vacation in your break without having to go very far!  Most of the time you can discover hidden spots that make for the best adventures.
  • Set apart a day on the weekend where you and the rest of your family are free.  Then, plan out a whole day to spend time with each other and do fun things around your city!
  • Since you’re saving money by not going on any spring break festivities, treat yourself to a shopping spree!  I don’t mean you have to drain your bank account, but you can treat yourself by splurging a little at the mall.
  • Catch up with your high school friends.  If you live away at college, you might not get the chance to see old friends as much.  Send out a group text and plan a fun day for the crew!

What other ideas do you have to add to the list?  Let me know in the comment section below! 🙂

Winter break is the most awaited time of the semester. After all the tests, homework assignments, and pop quizzes, nothing is needed more than a nice, long break. Although our days off are spent shopping for last minute Christmas gifts and baking sugar cookies, some are filled with long afternoons of boredom. So… here are a few winter-themed “do it yourself” ideas for those dreadful days!

If your friends are in the same boring boat as you, invite them over and have a mini spa day! There are soooo many DIY products that are super fun to make, especially if you incorporate Christmas scents such as peppermint or cinnamon. Recipes for do it yourself lip scrubs or face masks can be found all over Pinterest! How relaxing :)!

If you have a couple old Christmas sweaters laying around your house, this DIY is just what you’re looking for! Instead of letting your worn-out sweater sit and collect dust in your closet, change it into a couple different accessories! If the sleeves are big enough, cut them off and make them into leg warmers! These are definitely back in style, look to the left for example. You can also make it into an infinity scarf! There are many ways to go about this, so find your own way whether it’s using the neck hole or the ends of your sweater.Chelsea Crockett - DIY Leg Warmers

Showing off your art skills is another way to occupy spare time. Buy a canvas and some paints, possibly colors to match your room (or even Christmas colors!). This DIY is open to lots of interpretation. I saw on Pinterest that someone painted their canvas green and red to make a Christmas decoration for their room!

What do you plan on doing over break? Tell me below :)!

Organization is the key to a stress-free work and school environment.  Too many people have papers flying everywhere, dates not written down, and a busy schedule.  It’s important to live an organized life in order to get things done without a hassle.  If you follow these simple organizational tips, I promise your life will be a breeze!Chelsea Crockett- organization

  • Keep a planner or use your calendar app!  Write down anything and everything that is important, an event, or something that is due.  Deadlines are important!
  • Give yourself a break!  If you work too much you will start to go crazy!  Give yourself a 10 minute break each hour to surf the web, talk to friends, or grab a snack!
  • Establish a junk drawer!  Everyone has those papers, supplies, and random things that they have no idea what to do with.  If you have one solid area that you store all of that, then they won’t end up all over your desk!
  • DO NOT procrastinate.  This is the number one reason people get stressed out and unorganized.  Do your assignments or projects as they are assigned to you so you can focus on one thing at a time.
  • Make your work space pretty!  When you have a work space that you are proud of, you are less likely to get it messy.

Staying organized is important for the road to success.  It’s also important for your sanity.  Keep it all together and you’ll start to see a difference!

XOXO,

Chelsea
