My favorite thing about finding new beauty tricks is all the different everyday tools and gadgets that can be used as a substitute when applying makeup!  I read an article that told me all about the different kitchen gadgets that can be a hack for putting on makeup, they sometimes even work better than real beauty tools.  Here are a few gadgets to expand your beauty tool collection! 🙂

  • A spoon.  Spoons provide several different tricks and hacks that can make applying your makeup much easier.  One of which is lining up the curve of the spoon to create the perfect winged eyeliner.  The second is putting the spoon under your bottom eyelashes to catch any excess mascara when applying it!
  • A fork.Chelsea Crockett - Fork Hack  I recently saw this hack and thought I’d give it a try.  It really does help when it comes to contouring!  Place the middle prong of the fork on the center of your nose.  Then, take your darker color you’re using to contour and fill in on each side of the prong.  This will set up the perfect lines to fill in and leave your nose with the perfect contour!
  • Dish soap.  Take a ¼ cup of dish soap, a ¼ cup of olive oil, and a spoonful of coconut oil, and mix it together.  This mixture will create the perfect makeup brush cleaner that will thoroughly clean any of your tools without wasting money on expensive, name-brand makeup cleaners!

Which kitchen gadget are you going to try out?  Let me know how it works for you!

The One Brush You NEED In Your Makeup Bag

We all know putting on makeup is so much fun!  However, finding the right brush can make a world of difference to your look.  I have recently found a contouring brush that is double-ended.  It has two sets of bristles and can be used for different applications.  One end of the brush has a round shape and the other end has a flat, slanted edge.  The slant allows for perfect application precisely where I want it.  The slanted side also has flowing fibers which allow for more pigment distribution.  It is wonderful for applying bronzer!

The rounder edge is fluffy and helps to apply powder and blush.  It’s great for swirling powder-based products.  This brush is also fab for blending liquid concealer to hide my dark eye circles!  The next time you are at a beauty store, look for a brush of this kind.  You’ll be glad that you did!  Comment below and let me know if you have a brush that’s just right for you!

Chels

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important, especially since we use them every day!  You don’t have to clean them after every use, but giving them a good scrub down once a month is ideal for healthy skin!  When it comes time for cleaning, it’s easy to whip up your own cleanser with a few ingredients that you can find in your kitchen!  Get the white vinegar and hot water ready!Chelsea Crockett- makeup brush cleanser

Start by boiling 1 cup of water and pouring the hot water into a cup or bowl.  While the water is still hot, add 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and stir immediately.  The vinegar may smell at first, but don’t worry, the smell will go away.  Dip your dirty brush into the cup or bowl and gently swirl the brush around the bottom.  Once most or all of the makeup has been removed from the brush, rinse the bristles under hot water and then cold water.  Lay the brush on a towel to air dry; do not try to dry the bristles.  Shape the brush with your fingers and they’ll be clean and ready to use in a few hours!

If you watched my video “My Hair Care Routine” you probably heard me talk about the “Wet Brush” and the “Shine Brush.” These are hair brushes that I use right out of the shower and while getting ready. I love them and I think you would too if you gave them a try! Here is some more info on my favorite kind of hair brushes.

The “Wet Brush”:

The Wet Brush has super soft bristles so it detangles hair with ease! It works great on wet hair and is perfect for men, women and kids. You can use if you have thick, straight, or curly hair. You can even use it on hair extensions and wigs! Like I said in my video, this brush glides through my hair so easily, and it costs very little! If you are interested in one, click here!

Natural Hair Growth

Have you ever wanted long hair in the blink of an eye?  I know I used to!  Every day heat application, colors and dyes, and even wearing your hair up…

Have you ever wanted long hair in the blink of an eye?  I know I used to!  Every day heat application, colors and dyes, and even wearing your hair up with a tight hair tie and can stunt hair growth.  Sometimes, you may not even realize your damaging your hair.  There are a number natural ways to make your hair healthier, which in return speeds up hair growth.  Now, it won’t happen overnight, but in the long run, you’ll see results.  Follow these simple tips and your hair will thank you for it.

  • So, cutting your hair to make it grow longer sounds crazy, right?  Wrong!!  Getting a slight trim every 6-8 weeks actually makes your hair healthier.  By removing the dead ends, your hair will be able to breathe and grow faster.  It will look healthy and shiny too!
  • Go all natural!  Let your hair air dry as much as possible and stay clear of flat irons and curling irons.  This excessive amount of heat damages hair from roots to ends.  Rock your natural hair, it’ll pay off!
  • Brush your hair the right way!  Now I’m not saying to brush it 100 times day, but rather once or twice.  Over brushing isn’t good for the hair, but brushing in moderation will stimulate the scalp, creating slight hair growth.  Make sure to be careful when you get out of the slower.  Use a wide-toothed comb to get out tangles.  Be gentle!
  • If you enjoy DIY masks, try an eye white mask.  Using a few eggs, remove the yolk and apply the egg whites to your hair.  This will make your hair stronger and healthier, which ultimately leads to hair growth.Chelsea Crokett- natural hair growth

Be kind to your hair!
