Shopping vintage can give you some of the best hidden gems and forgotten styles out there! There are tons of styles that are making a comeback, along with different vintage things to add to your Christmas list.  Here are a few of my favorites to channel your old-school side!

One of my favorite throwback styles of shoes is Adidas’ Superstar sneakers. The original version was introduced in 1963 and is back in action!  The shoe is widely available and super affordable.  I love to throw them on with shorts, jeans, or even a cute T-shirt dress.  You can wear them with just about anything to create the perfect street-style look.

Chelsea Crockett - Calvin Klein CrewneckAnother fun vintage look is a Calvin Klein or Adidas crewneck sweatshirt. These slouchy, oversized sweatshirts are often color blocked for a retro fashionable style or solid with an apparent vintage logo.  This is a classic “90’s” look and can be paired with leggings and sneakers.  Check out the picture on the left for example!

Apart from clothing, Urban Outfitters supplies all your other vintage needs.  They sell old-school record players, records, and Polaroid cameras! These are the perfect addition to your Christmas list!  (The record player can even be a cute decoration for your room!)

Be sure to shop at your resell-it stores to see what you can find yourself!

Christmas is creeping up on us faster than we know it… and I’m so excited!  Around Christmas time, my friends and I always do secret Santa gift exchanges.  It can be hard coming up with different things to get each year, so I wanted to tell you about the idea I’ll be using for my upcoming gift exchanges!

For me, I can never have too much makeup.  Who doesn’t love trying out new brands and products?  For your kit, you’ll need at least three different products, depending on how much you want to spend.  Chelsea Crockett - Makeup KitYou’ll at least need a lipstick, some type of skin product, and an eye product.  Since most people already have a certain foundation they like to use, pick out a highlighter, blush, etc.  As for eyes, purchase a mascara or eye shadow to add to their kit.

Now that you know what to put in your DIY makeup kit, here are a few of my favorites that are inexpensive yet good quality!  For a lipstick, try Tarte’s Color Splash Hydrating Lipstick.  There are 24 different shades to choose from!  As for a highlighter, you can buy Urban Decay’s Mini Naked Illuminated Powder for only $12 from Sephora.  Since the other two products are a little pricy, add your favorite drugstore mascara to complete the kit!

Are you going to try out this idea this year?  Let me know what products you fill your kit with! 🙂

Winter is the best season for fun, creative date nights.  There are so many different things you can do to get in the holiday spirit with your boyfriend or girlfriend… while saving money at the same time!  I came up with a few different date ideas that are inexpensive yet a good time for you and your crush!

  • Have a hot cocoa date. Go to your nearest grocery store and pick out different flavors of hot chocolate.  Make a variety of hot cocoa, make some cookies, and curl up on the couch!  Maybe even put on your favorite Christmas movie. 🙂
  • Do a surprise gift exchange at the mall. Set a budget and a time limit and have some fun!  Go back home and exchange your gifts with each other.  It’s not too expensive, but you still get to give and receive a gift!
  • Decorate your Christmas tree together. What’s a better way to get in the Christmas spirit than decking the halls!  Invite your boyfriend over, turn on some Christmas tunes, and set up some decorations!
  • Build a fort. Okay, this might sound super cheesy but it’s actually so fun… and not to mention, free!  Make some popcorn, pick out a movie, and chill out.  Why not channel your inner kid again?
  • Go on a horse drawn carriage ride. These are so fun and the perfect winter date!  If you live near a big city, bundle up and go for a ride.  It’s not too expensive and you get to enjoy the view of the city, too!

Which date idea are you going to try out?  Tell me in the comments below! 🙂

After the major amounts of delicious food I devoured over Thanksgiving and now Christmas, I feel very much like frosty the snowman. Bloated and fluffy. It feels not-so-good. I would MUCH rather feel tight and toned! I was looking for a way to detox all of the guck I ate over break out of my system and start of the year fresh and healthy, and that is when I found this yummy holiday detox!

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana
  • 1-2 cups of stem-less kale
  • 1 cup apple cider (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup of ice/water
  • Dash of cinnamon1425862737615

Blend all of these ingredients together until the mixture is smooth. If you want a juice-like texture, use water. If you want more of a smoothie-like drink, go for ice. If you want some extra healthy protein, toss in a handful of your favorite nuts before blending! Just an FIY, the drink will naturally separate as it sits, so there may be a layer of foam at the top of the drink after sitting a while. Just stir it up and drink it down!

I’m ready to detox and feel fresh again. Are you?

XOXO, Chels

Christmas is the best holiday of the year.  Not only do you get to experience good food and good company, but you get to dress up in your most stylish holiday attire!  I always have trouble finding Chelsea Crockett - Christmas Outfitthe perfect outfit to wear for all the family get-togethers and fun festivities that come along with the day.  Depending on what you have lined up, you’ll either need a casual outfit, a formal outfit, or maybe even both!  Here are a few ideas to get the holiday fashion flowing!

Casual: The outfit on the left is one of my favorite looks this year.  Poncho coats and cardigans like the one on the left are super “in” this year.  Don’t be shy to rock a mix of red and green!  Plaid is also the perfect pattern that isn’t too over-the-top.  Pair this look with some gold accessories, a pair of heeled booties, and a maroon lip!

Formal:  First, pick what colors are appropriate for the occasion.  I would suggest reds, greens, maroon, tan, neutral colors, etc.  Keep it Christmas-oriented!  Long-sleeved high-neck shirts like the one in the featured image above are perfect to pair with a suede skirt and heels!  If you want to wear a dress, velvet is super popular this season.  Pair it with a clutch and a cute pair of boots or heels!

Which look are you going to try out this Christmas?  Share with me below! 🙂

Top 5 Things to Put on Your 2016 Christmas Wish List

I know I’m not the only one who all of a sudden forgets what I want to put on my wish list when Christmas time rolls around!  I always wait last minute to throw one together and end up forgetting what I actually want to add!  If you need a little help brainstorming what to add to your list this year (like I did), here are a few things that should be at the top!

  • Lipstick Vaults.  These are extremely in this year!  So many different brands and stores are coming out with full sets of lipstick compiled into one huge vault.  For example, NYX Cosmetics offers their own Liquid Lipstick Vault with so many different shades and colors.  Check them out!Chelsea Crockett - LED Phone Case
  • LED Selfie Phone Cases.  If you think I’m lying, see for yourself!  You can purchase selfie phone cases that have lights around the border to give your pics the perfect lighting!
  • Fitbits.  Fitbits are a great way to track your progress if you like to work out.  And if you don’t, then you could use one to get more active and set fitness goals!
  • A New Journal or Bible.  Recently, I’ve been super into journaling.  I love writing down things that come to me throughout the day or simply things that happen that I want to remember!
  • This may be a little out of the box, but a Keurig coffee maker or smoothie blender is super useful and enjoyable, especially for college students.  If you live in a dorm, getting a quick coffee maker or blender will make your mornings 10x better.  Trust me!

What are your top presents you’re asking for this year?  Let me know :)!

Around the holidays is the absolute best time for fun winter dates.  There are so many different things to do whether it be with your new crush, boyfriend, or even your BFF.  Most are pretty inexpensive too which is always a plus! Here are a few dates that are perfect for breaking you and your date into the Christmas spirit!

  • Since spending a lot of money to go out on an actually date isn’t always an option, spending a night at home can be just as fun!  Baking Christmas cookies and watching your fav Christmas movies isn’t too bad of an idea!Chelsea Crockett - Christmas Lights
  • Around my area, we have a ton of neighborhoods/houses that go all out for Christmas decorating.  Wait till it gets dark out, make some hot chocolate to-go, and go for a drive to look at all the lights and decorations!
  • I’ve heard this a bunch of times but haven’t actually tried it out myself!  People say volunteering with your boyfriend or girlfriend is a good way to not only help your community but to get to know them better as well.  Maybe go shopping for a toy drive or volunteer somewhere to spread some holiday cheer!
  • Search online for any Christmas festivals or celebrations going on around your area.  I know where I’m from we have different Christmas events going on all throughout December!
  • Buy tickets for a Christmas play or concert.  Instead of the typical movie theater date, switch it up and go to a holiday play!  You can even go on a nice dinner before, dress up, and enjoy your night together!

I hope you and your date have an awesome holiday season! 🙂

Christmas Gifts for the Guy Who Has Everything

Guys are hard people to shop for. They don’t always come out and say what they want, and when you do ask them if there is something they are wanting for Christmas, the answer is often “I don’t know.” Plus, it probably seems like they have everything they want or need already! So, I have done some investigating and have come up with a short list of gift ideas that are sure to give you at least a few ideas of what to get the dudes in your life.

  1. Cool dress socks: Among my guy friends, I have found that cool socks are all the rage. Socks with cool patterns or Star Wars characters on them are a hot item!
  2. Fashionable clothes: If I have learned anything in my years of buying for both my dad and other guys in my life, it is that they rarely buy clothes for themselves. They wear their favorites over and over again. If you have a certain style of clothes that you wish the guy in your life would wear, gift it to them! That way they don’t have to go out and shop and buy it for themselves, it is just right there for them.
  3. Sweet shades: A cool pair of sunglasses is always a safe bet! Especially if you really dislike the shades he usually wears. 😉
  4. Phone gear: I saw something super cool the other day that I thought would be an awesome gift for a guy, and that is an iPhone projector! It is a case for your iPhone that literally turns into a projector! You could also get him a nice phone case, or a case that will charge his phone.pocketprojectorcase-386-261806

Hopefully this list will help you in your search for the perfect gift for the guys in your life, whether it be your dad or your boyfriend.

The Do’s & Don’ts of Gift Buying for Your Boyfriend

Especially around the holiday season, everyone wants that special person to spend Christmas time with!  If you have a boyfriend or girlfriend this year, then you’ll most likely be buying each other Christmas presents.  There are certain things to consider when picking out that perfect gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend to make sure this year is the best Christmas yet!

  • DO get him something meaningful.  Chelsea Crockett - Christmas PresentsPut some thought into it!  Boys like meaningful gifts too whether they admit it or not.
  • DON’T just give him money or a gift card.  Like I said, put some thought into it!  Although money and gift cards are nice, he’ll probably be getting some from relatives anyways.
  • DO ask his friends and family for advice.  Nothing’s wrong with asking for a little help!  They might know about what he likes or what size he wears more than you do, so shoot them a text and ask!
  • DO ask each other for a budget.  I don’t mean you have to have an exact spending amount set, but at least try to get an idea of how much to spend.
  • DON’T overthink it.  Boys will usually be happy with whatever you get them as long as you know what they like and don’t like.  Don’t stress about it!

I hope you’re all getting into the Christmas spirit!

Before opening our presents on Christmas morning, my family checks our stockings for any little gifts my parents stuff them with. Since I love makeup, I usually know what I’m going to find tucked into my stocking. These are some of my fave to find on Christmas morning, and maybe you could give your parents an idea too!

  • An Eyelash Curler. These things are a beauty necessity for your makeup bag. They’re also inexpensive and the perfect size to fit in your stocking! Another perk is how much longer your lashes will look :).
  • Any lip product. Lipsticks, chap sticks, glosses, etc. are the ultimate stocking stuffers. If you’re wondering what colors are perfect shades for winter, I suggest any dark reds or pinks. Maroon is my go-to lip color for the holidays!Chelsea Crockett - Stocking Stuffers
  • A Blending Sponge. If you use concealer or liquid foundation, a beauty sponge is a must-have. These can be found almost anywhere from Target to Forever 21. They’re super cheap but most of the time have great quality.
  • Makeup wipes. These might not be what you want but they’re definitely what every girl needs! There are too many nights where these save me from falling asleep with my makeup on. If you want a suggestion on which brand, Neutrogena is my go-to!
  • Nail polish. A girl can never have too much nail polish, am I right? Some of my favorite holiday shades are maroon, black, and gray. You can some at Target for an awesome price. You could even buy two or three!

Let me know what you get in your stockings this year!

Christmas Hair: Pullthrough Braid

Christmas is just around the corner, and with Christmas comes Christmas parties! With Christmas parties comes Christmas outfits, and with Christmas outfits comes Christmas hair! So, without further ado, here is a fun, pretty hair style for your Christmas party needs: the pull-through braid. PS. This style works best on thick, long hair.

  1. Pull your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with an elastic. Split your hair into 3 groups once it is in the ponytail. Wrap one of the sections (a small section) around the ponytail to hide it.braid
  2. Split the section of hair underneath your ponytail in half and wrap it around to the front. Secure it with an elastic. It should look like you have a little ponytail in front of your big one. See the picture for clarification.
  3. Keeping your spacing even, continue splitting the underside hair in half and wrapping it around to the front, then securing it. Keep doing this until you have reached the length that you want your braid to be. Secure all the loose ends with an elastic.
  4. Now to my favorite part! Pull apart the sections of the “braid” to make it fuller and bigger.

I love this look because it is unique and looks so interesting from the back. If you are someone who prefers wearing their hair up or if you just want to switch things up, this hair style is great for you!
