Odds are, you are no stranger to stress. School, work, friends, family, there are so many things vying for our time and attention and sometimes we feel like we are being pulled a million ways at once and that there is no possible way to get everything done that we need to. Then, there are those people who don’t seem to feel any stress at all, even though they’ve got lives just as busy as ours. How do they do it?! How do they manage their stress and make it seem so easy? Here are 5 habits of the less-stressed people of the population.

  1. Laugh lots: Laughing every day is a great way to manage stress. Laughter releases endorphins, stimulates your lungs and heart, and improves your circulation which all help calm your stress response.
  2. Be grateful: Being thankful helps you decrease your worries and increases your focus on the positive things in life which helps fight negativity.
  3. Exercise: Working out doesn’t just strengthen your body, it also strengthens your mind. It helps you stay calm because exercising is an outlet for frustrations. It also increases the hormones in your brain that make you feel happy and good.62824517
  4. Get enough sleep: Sleep and stress go together like peanut butter and jelly. Healthy people who know how to deal with stress know that sleep is a priority. Lack of sleep can make you angry, sad, mentally exhausted, and stressed.
  5. Watch the caffeine intake: You may think of caffeine as the magical substance that helps you power through the day, but it actually may be causing you stress. Caffeine can actually increase the symptoms of stress, so limit how much you take in on a daily basis.

Stress doesn’t have to rule our lives! Hopefully these tips from people who know how to stay on top of stress help you do the same.

This time of year is super stressful. Finals are approaching, Christmas and everything that comes with it is bearing down on you, college applications are coming due, friends and boyfriends stress you out, life can get super overwhelming! When I feel like I am under so much stress that I can barely function or I feel like I cannot take the anxiety of it all, I like to take a second and read my Bible. The Bible is full of verses that calm your heart, give you courage to keep going, and encourage you by telling you that you are not alone and that God has a plan. Here are a few of my go-to verses when I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.

  • Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.– Isaiah 41:10pics-002-500x750
  • “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”– Matthew 11:28-30
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.– Philippians 4:6-7
  • Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:7
  • I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
  • Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.-Psalm 55:22

You are too blessed to be stressed! I hope these verses helped to calm your heart and give you courage.

Keep the faith!

Stress is no good. It isn’t good for your body, it isn’t good for your emotions, and it sure isn’t pleasant for the people around you either! When you are stressed, your quality of life is not high and you just aren’t a happy camper! Here is how to stress less so that you can be a happier, healthier you!

  1. Dance it out. Feeling stressed? Blare your music and just dance.
  2. Talk about it. Grab a girl friend, take her to Starbucks, grab a latte, and just talk to her. Spill your guts to her. It will make you feel so much better!53d9b1416a0558.85782649
  3. Take a walk. Exercising gets your endorphins pumping, which make you happier! Being happy helps lower stress. Also, I have found that exercising gives me great time to think.
  4. Go to bed earlier! If you are sleepy, you are unhappy, which can just lead to more stress!
  5. Hug it out. Seriously. Grab your mom, and give her a good ole bear hug.
  6. Do something good for others. When I am serving others, it makes me so happy! I love knowing I am helping someone else and making a difference in their life.

Do any of these things help you stress less? I have so much going on in my life right now, so it really helps to be able to handle my stress in a positive way. How do YOU stress less?
