Chocolate bars, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cake… what dessert isn’t good with chocolate? No matter what recipe I choose to make, I try to pick one that has plenty of chocolate in it… and I know I’m not the only one! That’s why I want to share a recipe called “Chocolate Heaven” with all of my lovely insiders :).

First, take a trip to the grocery store and purchase these several ingredients: 1 box of brownie mix, 2 small packages of chocolate pudding (4 cups), 1 12 oz. bucket of cool whip, 12 oz. of Heath bars, and 1 cup of chopped pecans (optional).Chelsea Crockett - Chocolate Heaven

Second, make the brownies as instructed on the box and let them cool. Then break up the brownies into chunks and spread half of them out in the bottom of a large bowl. Next, pour out two of the pudding cups on top of the brownies. Take half of the bucket of cool whip and pour that over the pudding. Follow that with half of the heath and half of the cup of chopped pecans. Repeat this again so you have two layers of chocolate heaven!

Third, enjoy! Serve your delicious treat by simply scooping out however much you want. Make sure you get all the way down to the last layer, you wouldn’t want to miss out on any of the ingredients! Let me know how yours turns out!

Love, Chelsea

Nail Cheats for the Perfect Manicure

Going to get your nails done isn’t cheap. Especially for something that you can simply do at home without emptying your wallet! Maybe your painting skills aren’t the best, but there are a few things you can do to help improve your home-manicure results for a salon finish!

To start off, make sure your nails are clean of any old nail polish, dirt, etc. Put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and wipe your nails to ensure they’re 100% clean. After that, push your cuticles down as far as you can so your polish will stay on longer. It doesn’t matter what you use to do this. Simply using your other nails to push down the cuticles works just fine!

Now comes the fun part. Pick out whatever polishes you want to use on your nails. You can either paint them yourself or, if you’re not the best nail artist, have your mom or friend do them for you!

Chelsea Crockett - DIY ManicureA manicure wouldn’t be complete without a fun design or pattern. One of my favorites is the design on the left. You can choose any three colors and go to town! Whatever the lightest polish of the three is, paint your entire nail that color. Then wait until your nails completely dry (I suggest putting them in front of a fan to speed up the process if you’re in a time crunch). After your polish is entirely dry, place a piece of scotch tape crooked on your nail, whatever way you want the diagonal to go. Then paint a couple coats of the darker color on top of the lighter polish that isn’t covered by the type.  Then repeat the process with the darkest color.  Finish it off with a topcoat and you’re set!

Now you can be a pro manicurist right in your home :)! Enjoy!

Slurpees are such a fun summer treat. They are tangy frosty goodness! Instead of grabbing one at the gas station when you are out and about, how about making your own! This is a fun diy you can do with your friends or just for you!chelsea crockett

  1. Take a 2 liter bottle of soda and shake shake shake it up! Shake it for about 15 seconds to increase the pressure in the bottle.
  2. Place the bottle in the freezer for 3 and a half to 4 hours. You want the soda to get as cold as possible, but NOT freeze. Check your soda regularly between 3 ½ and 4 hours to make sure it is not freezing.
  3. Remove your soda from the freezer. In one movement, unscrew the bottle cap just enough to release some of the pressure, quickly tighten it back up, and turn the bottle upside down. Return it to the upright position and you should magically see slushie ice crystals begin to form immediately. Science!!

Who knew science could be frosty and delicious!? Try this sweet trick out and enjoy a yummy homemade slurpee this summer!

When I am at the gym or out an about, I see girls wearing adorable, cut-up t-shirts. They cut cute designs into the back of the shirts or they make the t-shirt into a tank top or crop top. There are so many adorable styles that you can transform your t-shirt into, but today we are going to explore the “bow back” style.

First, you need to locate a t-shirt. This shirt can be an old camp T-shirt that could use a little remodeling, or it could diy-tee-instructionsbe a shirt from your favorite sport’s team that you just want to spruce up a bit. The first step is to lay the shirt out face down
on a flat surface. Next, take a good scissors and cut the collar out of the shirt. Don’t discard the fabric that you cut off of the collar, because you will use it later. Next, draw to horizontal lines, about 4″-6″ apart on the back of your tee. The lines should stop at least a few inches away from the sides of the tee. Cut along the lines. Take the piece of material you saved from the neck and wrap it around the center of the strip of fabric that you created with the cuts above. Add a dab of glue to secure the ends of the ribbing together to create a circle. The back of your shirt should now look like there is a giant bow in the middle!

I love this sweet shirt! It is so cute and flirty. Are YOU going to try this on one of your old T-shirts?

XOXO, Chels

I got the idea and pictures HERE.

Some may say a pedicure is the perfect time to relax, unwind, and get pampered.  I can agree with this.  Freshly painted toes are one of the best feelings in the world!  Unfortunately, most pedicures come at a heavy price; especially if you go regularly!  Instead of hitting up the salon every 2 weeks, try giving yourself an at-home pedicure!  It’s simple and easy; plus, your bank account will thank you!  Give it a try!

As crazy as it may sound, a milk bath is actually beneficial to your feet by smoothing calluses.  Start by filling a bowl with warm water and milk.  Let your feet soak for as long as you’d like!  Next, rub cuticle oil on each toe and start to push back each cuticle with your finger nail.  Rinse each foot and dry them off with a towel!  Now, cut back and file your nails to your liking!

Refill the bowl with clean hot water.  Using a pumice stone or foot scrub, scrub away any dry, unwanted skin.  Be sure to target your toes and heels!  Once your feetChelsea Crockett- painted toenails feel new again, rinse away the dead skin, dry your feet, and lather them with lotion!  Last but not least, pick out your polish and paint away!

Next time you’re dying for a pedicure, but don’t have the money to do so, try giving yourself one!  You may surprise yourself!

XOXO,

Chelsea

How many of you lovely Insiders love to travel? I am a travel queen. I love to travel, from LA to New York City. I found a super cool way to document all of your travels that is super artsy, but also really creative. Here is what you do…33bcd46da1910d313d1f67145261cddf

Do your parents or grandparents have a globe? If your family doesn’t have a spare world globe laying around the house,
stop by your neighborhood goodwill or thrift store! Once you have your globe, map out all of the places in the world that you have been. Once you have marked all of the places you have traveled, take a drill and drill a hole in all of the spots you have marked. Next, place a light bulb inside of the globe. Plug your light bulb in and watch the magic. The more places you go, the more your globe will light up! Turn off the lights in your room and use the globe as a night light. It also makes a great conversation piece, because you can show people all of the places you have traveled!

What is your favorite place that you have traveled? Comment below!

How many of you love drinking Crystal Light? It can be quite a tasty beverage! But, I bet you didn’t know that you can make this sweet drink into lip gloss! Now before you go and call me crazy, read on and find out how! The whole process takes a total of two minutes! I found this tutorial on loveumadly.com

Materials:

–          Crystal Light packets, preferably flavors with red and pink colors.lip-gloss-41-1024x680

–          Vaseline

–          A small, portable container

–          A mixing tool (such as a plastic knife)

Fill your small empty container with your Vaseline. Add the Crystal Light and keep adding and stirring until you have the color you want. Wait an hour for the Crystal Light granules to dissolve so you don’t have gritty lip gloss. After the granules have dissolved, slap some on those lips! You just made your very own, super tasty, lip gloss! Pat yourself on the back and pucker up!

I saw a picture of an adorable pair of Kate Spade sneakers the other day. Then I took a look at the price. Yikes!! If you have an old pair of white sneakers and a Sharpie, then you can get the look for wayyyy cheaper. Here is how I transformed my drab shoes into fab shoes!

  1. Locate a dime, a Sharpie, a pencil, and your sneakers. Use the dime and pencil to trace the polka dots onto the sneakers. I set a picture of the Kate Spade sneakers in front of me so that I could try and replicate the pattern as closely as I could.
  2. Take your Sharpie and trace the pencil circles with it. Then fill the dots in with the Sharpie. Make sure that the Sharpie is a thick Sharpie so that you can fill the dots in quicker.

See how easy that was?! And cheap too! You can get the “Kate Spade” look without spending a ton of money! Do you think these shoes are cute? Comment below!

Do you ever watch movies on your phone in bed and wish there was a way to make the picture bigger? Well fear not, for I have a solution! There is a way to turn your smartphone into a projector…for less than 3 dollars!! Ill tell you how.

What you will need:

–          A shoe box

–          Magnifying glass1385645405_09

–          A stand of some kind for your phone (you can make one out of  a paperclip)

–          Your phone

–          A blade or knife

–          Duct tape

1. On one of the ends of your box, find the center and place your magnifying glass smack dab in the center and trace around it.

2. Cut your hole where you traced around the lens and stick the lens in the hole. Tape the magnifying glass down and make sure that no light can leak in. Seal the cracks with duct tape. Poke a hole in the back of the box where you can stick your charger cable through it.

3. This is when you find a stand for your phone or you fashion one out of a paperclip.

4. Science comes into play at this point. When light passes through any lens, it is flipped upside down, which will make the picture from your projector appear upside down. To fix this, go to settings > general > accessibility > and turn on assistive touch. Then select device > rotate screen. Then, turn your screen brightness all the way up.

5. Move the phone around in the box until you find the point where the focus is the most clear. Then close the box and find yourself a blank wall!

Pop you some popcorn, because you just created your own home theatre!!

Do you ever get random problem zits that drive you crazy? You wake up and look in the mirror to find

that Mount Everest has planted itself smack-dab in the middle of your forehead. Lovely right? I’ve got

a recipe for a homemade zit zapper.

DSC_0596

Ingredients:

-Coconut Oil

-Tea Tree Oil

-Lip Balm Tubes

On the stove top, melt 1/8 cup of coconut oil. Add in just a few drops of tea tree oil (no more

than 5). Mix these ingredients to blend them together and then use an eye drop dropper

to add into the lip balm tubes. It should only take a few minutes for the coconut oil to cool

and firm up. Store the tubes in the fridge so they don’t melt and use whenever you need

to target a blemish or zit! It is great when you need a quick spot treatment. Why does this

mixture work? Coconut Oil is naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal. It helps with redness and

puffiness and will help fight bacteria. Tea Tree Oil is also antibacterial and anti-fungal so it

gives it an extra kick. Mother nature has your back, ladies!

Next time you have a zit the size of Montana on your face, slap some of this stuff right on it!

Doughnuts are so incredible. But you know what is totally un-incredible about them? Their ingredients! I found a recipe for baked- not fried- cinnamon and sugar doughnuts that is ah-mazing! The best part? You don’t have to feel totally guilty after downing a few of them!

Ingredients

1 egg

¼ cup granulated sugar553123b

1 cup milk, heated to about 115 degrees

1 tablespoon active dry yeast

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2½ to 3½ cups unbleached flour, divided, plus more for kneading

1 stick butter cut into cubes

For the cinnamon-sugar coating:

1 stick butter, melted

1 cup sugar + 2 tablespoons cinnamon, mixed together

Instructions

1. In the bowl of your mixer, beat the egg and sugar on medium speed for about 1 minute. Add in the milk, yeast, salt, and vanilla. Turn the mixer to low, and then add in the 2 cups of flour. Attach the dough hook of your mixer and then on medium speed, add the butter one piece at a time until smooth. Reduce the speed to low, and then add the rest of the flour until the dough sticks to the hook and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. The dough should be soft and moist, but not sticky.

2. Lay the dough out on to a floured surface and knead until smooth. Place in a mixing bowl coated with cooking spray and cover with a damp towel. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in volume, or about 1 hour.

3. Punch down the dough and roll it out to about ½ inch thickness. With biscuit cutters, cut out 3″ circles with 1″ holes. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place the doughnuts 1 inch apart. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit on top of the preheating oven until almost doubled in size, or about 25 minutes.

4. Bake until light golden in color, 5-8 minutes. Dip the hot doughnuts in the melted butter and then coat with the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Serve your delicious doughnuts immediately, because they are best eaten the same day they are made!

Hi Insiders,

Now I’m sure most of you have 100+ t-shirts from middle school, high school, sporting events, etc.  It’s so easy to score a t-shirt, especially when you’re involved in a lot of activities.  Some of them may remind you of memories or hold a value, making them hard to get rid of.  So what do you do with all of those t-shirts that start to pile up in your closet?  Make a t-shirt blanket!  It’s a great way to display your favorite t-shirts forever and requires no sewing!  Let’s get started on how to make it!

Start by picking out your favorite t-shirts.  Cut a square, typically 1ft x 1ft, from each shirt logo.  You can use the back of the t-shirt if you like that better!  A normal blanket is usually 5ft x 7ft which means you will need about 35 shirts to make this.  Don’t forget that you can use the front and back of each shirt, so you will only need about 17 shirts instead.  Once you have cut a square from each shirt, lay them out in the order in which you want the shirts to be placed.  Make rectangle shape of 5 shirts across and 7 shirts down.  Fill in the middle with the rest of the shirts!Chelsea Crockett- no sew tshirt blanket

Once you have the shirts laid out in the formation that you like, cut 1 inch stripes around each square, tying each strand to a strand of another shirt.  This will connect each shirt without sewing the pieces together.  Next, you will need a 5ft x 7ft piece of fleece.  Again, cut 1 inch stripes around the fleece and tie it to the outside edge of each shirt.  There you go, you’re done!  Now you’ve got a warm blanket full of memories!

Have fun,

            Chels

Blackheads can be such a hassle, ya know? They can make your skin so clogged and yucky. There is a way to give yourself an in-home facial that will clear those pores right up! Here is how to give yourself a facial steam!

downloadAll you need is a large bowl and some semi-hot water. Soak a washcloth in the water, wring it out, and then press it to your face. Repeat this step a couple of times. Once you are done with this, take your face and lead it towards the bowl, hovering your face over the hot water. Then, place a towel over your head to make sure no hot air escapes. The hot air will open up your pores so you can clean them out and it takes the oil and dirt build up off of your skin! Keep your head leaned over the bowl for about 5 minutes to allow the hot water to do its thing. After that, wash it with a good exfoliating face wash and moisturize!

Who knew getting an at-home facial could be that easy!
