You all know I love dry shampoo. I am pretty sure that it is one of the best inventions to hit the beauty market. It helps dry up the oils in your hair so that it doesn’t look greasy, and it can help your hair hold a tease! Dry shampoo can sometimes be expensive and can cause product buildup on your hair. I found a DIY recipe for dry shampoo and got so excited. You can make this stuff for less than 2$ a bottle! You cannot beat that!

Recipe for dark hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarchtumblr_mljrehPMNC1qdwkufo1_1280
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl. My suggestion is that you put the ingredients into an old spice bottle because the spice bottles have holes in the lids so you can sprinkle the dry shampoo on your roots easier.

     Recipe for light hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Do the same exact steps as in the first recipe. You can use a makeup brush to apply the powder to your scalp as another application option.

Hi Girls,

Who would’ve guessed that your dad’s tool box may be very useful in making a pretty bracelet?!  Not me!  Metal bracelets are super cute right now and go with everything!  I’ll show you a simple way to make a bracelet using some string, small hex nuts, and your hands!  Chelsea Crockett- hex nut bracelet 2Chelsea Crockett- hex nut bracelet 3            Start by cutting three long strips of string, whatever you color you like, and tie the three strands in a knot.  Leave about 2 inches of string at the top before tying the knot.  Begin braiding the three strands for about an inch.  Now, it’s time to add the hex nuts.  Slide one of the nuts up the left or right side of string and hold it in place.  Next, add another nut to the opposite strand, hold tightly, and cross both strands over again as if you were to begin braiding.  Repeat this step until you’re satisfied with the bracelet.  I usually add about 18 hex nuts.  Once you’re finished, tie off the end of the bracelet, tie around your wrist, and there you go!  It’s all finished!  Have fun with this project by picking out fun colors of string and gold or silver nuts.  Be creative!

Have funSmile

How many of you ladies love yourself a juicy Fruit Rollup? A Savory Fruit by the Foot? Some tangy Gushers? Well if you can say yes to any of the above, then tune it! Today I am going to teach you how to make healthy, homemade mango fruit rollups! The best part? There is no sugar, so you can feel great about snacking away on these yellow goodies!

You will start out with 4 cups of diced ripe mangos. That is about 3 mangos. Preheat your oven to 175 and line 2 rimmed cookie sheets with parchment paper. Puree the mango in a blender or food processer until it is smooth.

mango fruit snacks

Divide the puree evenly between the two cookie sheets. Use a spatula to spread the puree as flat as possible until it is about 1/8th of an inch thick. Bake the mango for 3-4 hours. You will know the roll-ups are done when the puree is dry to the touch. If the bottom of the roll-ups is still wet after a while, flip them over and continue baking them until they are dried.

Remove them from the oven. Place a piece of wax paper on top of the roll-ups and peel the roll-ups off of the baking sheet. Cut the mango into long strips and then roll them up along with the wax paper in-between the rolls so that the mango does not stick together. Toss the rolls in a plastic baggy if you need an on-the-go snack or just munch on them at home! They are a great, fun, healthy snack when you want something sweet!

I was on Pinterest this week and discovered something really cool! I found a recipe for all natural homemade mascara! Now some of you may be thinking “I’d rather buy mine from the store, thank you very much,” but then there are those who may say “bring it on!” Some people cannot wear store bought mascara because they are allergic to the chemicals in the makeup, so this is a great alternative for them! There are also ladies who just feel more comfortable knowing what they are putting on their eyes, so they like to make their own! Whatever your reason, this handy dandy recipe may be just what you are looking for!

 Ingredients:

2 tbs coconut oilmascara

4 tsp aloe vera gel

½ tsp grated bees wax pellets (you can find this on Amazon)

1-2 capsules activated charcoal (you can buy this at most health food stores or online)

1 clean mascara container

Directions:

1. Put the coconut oil, aloe vera gel, and bees wax in a small sauce pan over low heat. Stir until wax is completely melted.

2. Open 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal, depending on how dark you want it, and pour it into the sauce pan along with the other ingredients. Stir the mixture until all of the ingredients are blended together. Remove it from heat.

3. Pour the mixture into a small plastic bag and push it down to one corner. Cut a very small hole in the opposite corner of the bag.

4. Stick the cut-open corner of the bag into the empty mascara container and squeeze in the mixture(CAREFULLY). And there you have it! All natural, made by you, how much better can it get?

I adore scarves. There is nothing better than a stylish scarf to top off any ensemble! The only problem with them? They are a pain to store! Well, not anymore! I have a handy dandy tip to help make storing your stylish scarves a breeze!

What you will need:

 –          Your favorite scarves

–          Some hangers

–          Shower curtain rings

That is all you will need! Just take the plastic shower curtain rings and hook them around the bottom of the hanger. Then, loop your scarf through the ring! Easy peasy! You can fit about 6/7 scarves on 1 hanger, so if you are a scarf hog like me and have more than 7, just make another hanger! These handy scarf hangers are great because they fit easily inside your closet or on a hook on the wall, and they are so so cheap to make!

What are the two words every teenager longs to hear? “Snow Day”! As you have probably seen on my Instagram, it snowed in my hometown this week! All of the snow got me thinking about what you can MAKE with snow! Did you know that you can make ice cream out of snow? You totally can! Check out the recipe below and try it out!

Ingredients:

-1 gallon of snowchelsea crockett snow ice cream

-1 cup white sugar

-2 cups of milk

-1 tbs vanilla extract

So what you do is you take a big bowl outside with you and scoop some snow (about 2 gallons) into it! Make sure its clean snow, none of that yellow snow ;). Next, stir in the vanilla and sugar to taste.  Gradually stir in the milk so that it does not melt the snow. Once you have reached the consistency that you desire, serve it! This type of recipe should be served immediately after you make it because of the snow. That stuff melts FAST! And, snow ice cream is not really that good if you freeze it to use again. Next time it snows at your house, try out this super unique recipe!

Comment below if you try this yummy winter treat and tell me how you like it!

Nutella is the best invention on the planet. It is chocolaty goodness! I found this recipe for homemade Nutella that is to die for. Read on, chocolate lovers!

Ingredients:

-1 cup hazelnuts

-12 ounces milk chocolate chips (melted in the microwave)

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

– 3 tablespoons powdered sugar

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

-1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat your oven to 350. Lay the hazelnuts on a cookie sheet and toast them for about 14 minutes. You will need to take the skins off of the nuts and toasting them helps the skins come off. Place the nuts into a towel and rub them until the skins come off. Let the nuts cool.IMG_5979

2. In a food processor, blend the nuts until the consistency is smooth. Add all of the ingredients except for the melted chocolate and blend everything together.  Add the melted chocolate and blend the mixture together. It will be a little hot and runny but it will firm up once you let it cool.

Put the Nutella into a jar to store it. This recipe makes about 2 cups. Enjoy your homemade chocolaty goodness!

Christmas is coming! Prepare yourself for all things red, green, and peppermint flavored. You also need to start thinking about what kind of decorations you are going to Christmas-ify your houses with! I have a super easy, super fun way to add your own touch of personality to your decorations this Christmas!

What you will need:

-Clear glass ball ornamentsChelsea crockett ornaments

– Black Sharpie markers

That’s all you will need! I got my glass ornaments at Walmart for 3$.  For this fun DIY you just draw patterns on the glass ornaments with the Sharpies in whatever way you want. I recommend cleaning the ornaments before you draw on them, because all of the dirt and oils that are on them can make the Sharpie not want to stick to the ornament. Some examples of patterns that I drew are below! I went with a tribal sort of theme, but you can do whatever you please! That is the cool thing about this craft, you can totally customize it and make it your own! You can hang these spunky ornaments on your tree, put them in a bowl as a center piece, or even use them to decorate your mantle! The possibilities are endless! And you are going to be SO proud when you get to tell people that you made them yourself!

Comment below and tell me what you would put on YOUR ornaments!

Three words: Pumpkin. Spiced. Latte. If these three words are not the definition of fall then I don’t know what is! The only problem with constantly indulging in Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Lattes is that they are a bit on the pricey side, and if you buy them often you will soon find that your wallet is totally and completely empty! I am here to help you save some of that cash! Here is a recipe for a DIY Pumpkin Spiced Latte:

-3/4 cup of milk

Chelsea Croclett

-2-3 tablespoons pumpkin spice syrup

-3/4 cup of coffee

– Whipped cream for topping (optional)

– Pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon for topping (optional)

Combine and enjoy! You can make this in the comfort of your home for super cheap! It is also crazy easy because it only has three ingredients. On the next chilly day, whip one of these up and enjoy! If you want to make a low-fat version of this drink, use skim milk in place of regular milk and skip the whipped cream.
