Just a friendly reminder…MOTHER’S DAY IS COMING SOON! And if you are like me and have a super awesome momma, you want to get her something she will adore! The great thing about moms is that they love almost anything that their children get for them! They especially love gifts made by their children! Here are 3 DIY Mother’s Day gifts that your madre is sure to love.

  1. Dry erase magnetic to-do list: moms always have a million and one things to do. My mom has lists all over the place, telling her what she needs to buy at the store, what time our sports practices are, what she needs to get done for the day, all that jazz! This magnetic dry erase list is perfect because she can erase everything she has gotten done so she just sees what she needs to do! All you need is a cheap picture frame, some cute paper, magnets, and a dry erase marker! Attach the magnets to the back of the frame with some glue, put the cute paper into the frame, and you are done! She can write all of her to-dos on the glass of the frame.
  2. Ombre wooden spoons: If your momma likes to cook, then she will love this idea! Go out and buy a set of woodenchelsea crockett wooden spoons spoons and paint the handles different shades of her favorite color.
  3. Colorful spray painted cans: Your momma can store pens, pencils, utensils, anything she wants in these chic cans! Put a bow around them and fill them with her favorite candy when you give them to her! She can even plant her favorite flowers in them!

Shoe your momma how much you love her with these sweet DIY gifts!

How many of you take your lunch to school or work? A lot of times, bringing your lunch is a cheaper, healthier way to eat! When you bring your meals with you, there is a very important accessory that you must think about. Your ice pack! Although they are incredibly important to keeping your lunch cold and to keeping it from spoiling, they can sometimes be pricy and can fall apart and leak all over your food! I found out how to make my own ice packs and love them! They are also perfect for icing injuries because they are flexible! I’ll teach you how to make them!

You will need:

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup rubbing alcoholrubbing alcohol
  • Food coloring for the blue tint (optional)
  • 2 Ziploc bags – quart or gallon-size

Mix the water and alcohol together in one of your Ziploc bags and add food coloring, if desired, until you get that perfect blue tint. Release as much air as possible and seal the bag. I would recommend double bagging just to make sure that you don’t have any leeks! Stick your new flexible homemade alcohol ice pack in the freezer for about 12 hours before using it for the first time. It will be icy and a little slushy, which make them perfect for using on any injury because they bend to fit your body part! Try these out and comment below to tell me how they work out for you!

You all know I love dry shampoo. I am pretty sure that it is one of the best inventions to hit the beauty market. It helps dry up the oils in your hair so that it doesn’t look greasy, and it can help your hair hold a tease! Dry shampoo can sometimes be expensive and can cause product buildup on your hair. I found a DIY recipe for dry shampoo and got so excited. You can make this stuff for less than 2$ a bottle! You cannot beat that!

Recipe for dark hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarchtumblr_mljrehPMNC1qdwkufo1_1280
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Mix all of these ingredients together in a small bowl. My suggestion is that you put the ingredients into an old spice bottle because the spice bottles have holes in the lids so you can sprinkle the dry shampoo on your roots easier.

     Recipe for light hair:

  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 5-10 drops Essential Oil (e.g. Pink Grapefruit, Lavender, etc.)

Do the same exact steps as in the first recipe. You can use a makeup brush to apply the powder to your scalp as another application option.

Want to save some money? Try out these awesome DIY’s!
